EBS - Chapter 3 < Carriage Accident >

From her perspective, it was a statement she had endured and uttered.

Demios’s neat eyebrows twitched as if they were uncomfortable with that indifferent answer.

“Is that the end?”

“What more can there be?”

Sepia had to repay the favor.

So she was always the weaker one.

Even though they were a couple brought together by a goddess, Demios was Sepia’s savior.

‘If it weren’t for the goddess’s voice, you wouldn’t have come looking for me.’

So she couldn’t complain, and it wasn’t a relationship where she could.

They were no longer young lovers.

The fact that they hadn’t slept together for a long time was proof of that.

‘I guess his real lover has appeared.’

She only had to keep her position as Empress.

Even though she knew that, why was her heart aching so much? She felt even more dizzy because she didn’t know why. Demios watched her in silence and then got up from his seat.

“I get up first.”

Less than ten minutes had passed since Sepia had sat down.

Sepia felt agitated as she watched him leave.

He didn’t smile at her often, but they could joke around lightly. Was that no longer possible?

She wanted to hold on to the person who was leaving. However.

“May the sun of the empire always shine brightly.”

Demios stopped walking for a moment at the indifferent greeting.

However, Sepia gave up as she watched him turn around nervously.

About a relationship that had grown even more distant.

***

Sepia looked out the carriage window. There was a thick sunset outside.

The imperial palace of the Beastkin Empire was like a small city.

Because of this, she often had to use a carriage to move around the imperial palace. She was returning to the Empress’s palace after finishing a meeting related to the victory ceremony.

“Shall I prepare a bath when you arrive?”

“Please.”

It was the Empress’s job to prepare parties and anniversaries.

The victory ceremony was just around the corner.

And the rumors about Demios’ name were circulating in the world, making her feel very tired.

‘They meet every day, you know.’

Rumor had it that the Emperor was always out of the palace.

It was only natural.

He had met his long-awaited partner.

‘I need to prepare myself mentally.’

She just didn’t want to think about it any deeper. Was ignoring him the answer today?

She was at a moment when she wanted to quickly soak herself in hot water.

Squeak-

“Whoa!”

The carriage suddenly stopped with the maid’s scream.

Sepia was also thrown forward and almost hit her face against the wall.

“Your Majesty, are you okay?”

“Yes. I’m okay.”

Although she was a little surprised.

The maid who checked Sepia’s condition first got angry and knocked on the small window.

“You stopped suddenly while Her Majesty was riding. She almost got hurt!”

“I, I’m sorry. Why did some young lady suddenly jump in front of the carriage...”

The coachman was clearly flustered by the maid’s shout.

The maid clicked her tongue in disbelief.

“Where is there a noble who doesn’t know that this is a carriage road?”

The road to the palace was clearly divided into the sidewalk and carriage road.

Sepia turned her head to the window. Outside was covered in a bright red sunset.

'Not a maid, but a young lady.'

A nobleman who couldn't even tell that much, or who would do so on purpose...

"I should go look outside for a moment."

"Your Majesty?"

Suddenly, she had a bad feeling.

Before the maid could stop her, she opened the door and saw outside.

In front of a magnificent carriage.

There, a woman as white as snow was crying.

Her hair, as thin as soft thread, was pure white.

Her eyes sparkled like amethyst.

That unique color seemed even more mysterious because of her pure white skin.

'She's an albino.'

Her body was completely white like oriental porcelain, and her rare purple eyes told her the truth.

'Titier Louvre.'

Sepia had a gut feeling that the woman was the one who had engraved her husband's name.

According to the rumors she had heard.

'Even if it weren't for the name, I'd say she's got a look that Demios would fall in love with.'

The fact that she was an albino must have been thoroughly controlled, but the fact that she was beautiful could not be prevented from spreading.

Titi, who had collapsed in surprise, looked like a pitiful white deer hit by a carriage.

Sepia’s maid, who had not yet realized who Titi was, began to yell at her.

“What kind of dangerous thing is this, crossing the carriage road? The Empress’s carriage was even passing by.”

She had only raised her voice slightly, but Titi trembled as if she had been doused with cold water.

“I’m sorry. I’ve been weak, so I couldn’t see well.”

She had heard rumors that Titi was weak.

However, she couldn’t understand why she was wandering around the vast palace without a maid.

Before Sepia could even gather her thoughts,

“I should say hello...”

Titi staggered and got up.

Perhaps because of her long dress, she was staggering, but the coachman caught her in surprise.

“Thank you.”

“Oh, don’t be so kind.”

Titi smiled brightly.

The coachman’s face turned red at the sight of her pale face and a feeble smile.

Titi straightened up and bowed to Sepia.

“It is an honor to meet you, Your Majesty. My name is Titier Louvre.”

She slightly grabbed the hem of her dress, stepped back with her left foot, and bowed her head.

It was clearly a formal manner, but it seemed that she had learned the manners in a hurry.

Nevertheless, she was pitiful. Thanks to that, she even looked elegant.

Suddenly, a scene of Titi and Demios standing together came to mind.

Sepia’s husband, who resembled a silver moon rather than the sun.

Titi, who shined like a pure white snow field under a halo, suited him perfectly.

It was when Sepia was trapped in a single scene.

“Um, Your Majesty. I apologize, but could you grant me a favor?”

A request right after the meeting?

The two of them were not even in a position to have such a conversation.

When Sepia fell silent, the maid answered in her stead.

“Lady Louvre is still taking up the Empress’s precious time.”

The maid’s expression had turned cold since the Louvre family was mentioned.

Titi was at a loss at the cold answer.

“Well, I’m sorry.”

Her large eyes looked as if they would burst into tears at any moment.

Sepia sighed.

She thought it would be better to listen since she didn’t know what would be said later.

“I can hear it, so talk to me.”

“...Ah, thank you.”

Titier blinked her large eyes and smiled.

“The Count and Countess must be worried since I sneaked out of the mansion. If it’s okay, could the Empress’s maid deliver the news instead?”

The maid couldn’t hide her displeasure because of Titiéler’s direct remark. She couldn’t understand why she had come to the palace alone.

Instead of criticizing her, Sepia accepted her request.

“Madame Remody. Please send a letter to the Louvre. Lady Titier is in the palace.”

“Huh? But...!”

The Nightingale maid raised her voice.

The maid barely managed to suppress her anger and replied,

“I understand.”

As Madame Remody was about to pass by Titi, who had swallowed a sigh,

“Please tell them that I will be at His Majesty’s residence. The expression ‘the palace’ is too broad.”

“What is this...!”

Madame Remody let out a huff in shock.

She must have been so angry that several strands of her brown hair turned into feathers.

It was a sign of her materialization.

Just before she transformed into her true form, the lady let out a huff and stormed off.

Sepia looked down at the feathers the lady had left behind and was lost in thought.

‘She was on her way to Demios.’

Well, it was strange that Titier, who had just become a full-fledged noble, had nowhere else to go.

The sunset was fading.

Titi stood there, staring intently at Sepia.

It was an uncomfortable position no matter where she looked. As Sepia was about to turn around and get into the carriage,

“Excuse me, can I ride in the Empress’s carriage? Actually, I got lost on the way there.”

Titi’s cheeks turned red as if embarrassed.

Sepia looked around in silence.

Most of the nobles had already left the palace.

The only person who could call a new carriage was the coachman, so it would take quite a while.

In the meantime, it would be quite funny to just stand there blankly with Titi.

'It would be better to send her off before she gets attention.'

All he had to do was head to the Empress's palace first and then give her another carriage.

"Let's go."

“I'm here to help.”

Sepia held out her hand. The knight who had been silently guarding her side helped Sepia get into the carriage.

Sepia, who had sat in the carriage, looked beyond the door and said,

"Get in."

"Yes. Excuse me."

Titi also had to receive help from the coachman.

However, his gaze was completely elsewhere. The knight who met her eyes asked,

"What's going on?"

"Oh, it's nothing."

The Empress's knight did not leave Sepia's side and only assisted her. Titi, who had been looking at the knight with regret, soon stepped on the carriage floor.

Sepia and Titi sat facing each other.

Soon, the carriage started.

The well-paved road made no noise, creating perfect silence inside.
