KFBRV - Chapter 77

'I was thinking that it was time to cut Sasha off anyway.'

A woman who was shallow and vulgar, unlike him who had grown up as a petty Count. A woman who was pathetic for being excluded and ignored by society. The Count had never considered such a woman as his wife.

He was a man who had no choice but to get married because he needed money, but his father-in-law, couldn't stand it. He had tried to tie him up just by borrowing money for a little while.

'How much did Odette interfere with me before she became a false Purifier? I could have borrowed some of that dowry.'

Every single thing, he finds fault with the Count's business.

Have a son, take care of Sasha, if he brings in the government, I won't lend you money again.

Sasha's father was the polar opposite of the Count, who hated being ordered around the most.

'A few of my businesses have gone belly up, but I still have the casinos and the pharmaceutical company.'

After Odette brought in a flood of money, the Count paid back the money he had borrowed from his father-in-law.

And as if to retaliate for the humiliation he had endured, he had been blatantly ignoring his wife. It seemed that his father-in-law had been tolerating it lately, so he had not tried to cut Sasha off like this.

'Yeah. Where did that blood go? How dare you run wild in my mansion while I'm away.'

“Is there such a way, Count? It is within her sole prerogative to fire me.”

“There is one way to prevent a lady from exercising any authority over the mansion and estate. It is to prove that she is mad.”

“Are you saying that you’re making Sasha crazy?”

“This time, she accused you of being a thief without any evidence. I’m going to use that as evidence to claim that Sasha is crazy. I could even have a mad lady banished to a monastery.”

Mrs. Becker, who had been very touched by the story, stopped sobbing.

“But it’s not like there was no evidence. Madam received a letter of complaint accusing me. She even read it publicly in front of all the maids...”

“Damn it. Then is it hard to drive her crazy? If there was anyone else besides Sasha who saw the complaint...”

“Maybe there is? Rolf or the maid or whoever-”

Mrs. Becker, who had been speaking, suddenly stopped talking.

“Why did you suddenly stop talking?”

Mrs. Becker remembered what Odette had said a few days ago.

“Well. There’s no point in looking for it. There’s no point in checking the handwriting. Anyway, no one except my mother has seen the contents of the complaint. And there won’t be any in the future either.”

At that time, Mrs. Becker thought Odette was just beating around the bush because she didn't want to hear herself being nagged...

Now that she think about it, that story was true. Mrs. Becker felt goosebumps all over her body.

“No one else but Sasha. No one else there saw the letter. Sasha just read it in public.”

Could it be that Odette had drawn such a grand picture? She had always thought it was impossible, but this time she couldn't just ignore it.

'If that's the case - Odette, that woman is no ordinary bet.'

Mrs. Becker swallowed.

“How do you know that?”

“It’s a long story. Just trust me. I’m sure no one but Sasha has read the complaint.”

Mrs. Becker wanted so badly to tell the Count, but she could never do so.

If she tells the Count that Odette made this board, she will consider Odette a dangerous person and lock her in the dungeon.

'Then he'll ask me how I found out. I was threatened, but this man will think I'm in league with Odette. He'll take my power away from me.'

If that happens, she'll lose her wrist.

'I know men's habits.'

Mrs. Becker lost her husband at a young age and was naturally a lonely person. Because of her personality, which did not naturally fit in with women, she only associated with men.

That's why she was able to be confident.

A man like the Count would lose interest in her as soon as he found out that Odette and her were in league.

If you lose both hands, you'll never be able to twist.

'That can't be... I just heard about the plan to kick out Sasha. If only that woman weren't here, I could take over as the mistress of this mansion.'

So, no matter how creepy it was that Odette was drawing big pictures, Mrs. b
Becker couldn't tell the Count right away.

At least until she takes her place as Countess.

‘...It’s more reckless than I thought. I shouldn’t just ignore it.’

Mrs. Becker thought quietly.

If you underestimate that child, you'll be in big trouble.

Odette must be watched closely, Mrs. Becker's intuition warned.

***

Just in case anyone was watching, Lize headed to the basement of the annex, being very careful.

Squeak-.

When she opened the door to the dungeon, there was a man with black hair.

'As expected. It's just as Miss Odette said.'

It was a face that Lize also knew.

'I've seen it in articles before. He used to be the Crown Prince of Fenrir...'

At the sound of the door, red eyes turned to Lize's face. Although her expression hadn't changed at all, Lize felt as if she was being questioned.

'It's like a feeling of intimidation, as if asking, 'What on earth are you doing here?'

A man who causes fear even though his whole body is bound in chains.

'Is that... a human?'

Lize was suspicious.

Disaster, destruction... If those things were shaped into human form, they would look exactly like this man. He felt like a monster in human form.

“Tsk.”

The monster clicked its tongue. At that moment, Lize felt her heart drop.

That's...not human, it can never be human...

“There must be another woman who needs to come.”

A commanding voice, accustomed to dominating, rang out.

“Oh, I came at the order of Lady Odette.”

Lize responded urgently, relying on her survival instinct.

It was at that moment. Karl's once lively mood became gentle. His aggression from earlier disappeared, and he returned to his indifferent expression.

‘...He’s just a handsome boy...  right?’

The sudden change in expression and atmosphere actually made Lize feel even more uncomfortable.

'Come on, let's finish this quickly.'

Lize opened the barred door with the key she received from Odette and went inside.

“...”

Karl didn't even look at Lize. Lize thought it was a relief, and took out the keys with sweaty hands.

'A key is secretly taken from the Count's coat.'

As always, the Count handed his coat to the housekeeper.

As soon as the Count left for his room to meet Madame Becker, Lize accidentally spilled coffee on his coat.

“Oh my God, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”

“Lize! Are you out of your mind? Do you have any idea how expensive this coat is?”

While the housekeeper was fumbling around, Lize pretended to wipe the coffee she had spilled on the coat and took the keys out of the Count's inside pocket.

'It was all as the young lady said. That the key would be inside the coat, and that the coat would fit this restraint perfectly.'

After releasing Karl with this key, she said to put the used key in Courtney's apron.

'...I said this would make Courtney mad.'

Lize follows whatever the young lady orders her to do without question.

“Karl is blunt, so no matter what you say, he won’t respond. But he does listen, so all you have to do is notify him like this.”

Lize trusted the young lady and relayed the message as it was.

“It is the order of Lady Odette... Yes. Escape from the mansion immediately and take the carriage waiting by the back gate of the mansion... A man named Goetz will be waiting...”

“..."

“Go right now... here.”

Karl's status was a slave. Even though she knew that Lize couldn't speak informally because she kept thinking about the intimidation she felt earlier. Because of that, she couldn't help but speak comically.

Less noisy-.

After releasing all the chains, Karl walked out of the prison without even looking at Lize.

“Wow... There really are people like that.”

As the tension eased, Lize grumbled and sat down on the floor.

“I think you lived thanks to the young lady! Otherwise, you would have died-!”

Lize tried to act strongly belatedly, but her trembling body didn't lie.

Still, she couldn't sit for long. There was still a lot of work to do.

Lize sighed, then intentionally dropped one of her hairpins onto the floor.

Then she too escaped from the dungeon.
