7MIP - Chapter 98

“Cough...!”

Agatha finally raised her head and coughed softly. Enoch, who had arrived at a loss as to when was leaning against the desk.

The gray eyes blinked slowly, leaving no clue as to what they were thinking.

A large, strong hand slowly patted her thin back, which was shaking from coughing.

“I made it the way your maid instructed me. But I guess it can’t be helped that there are differences in skill.”

“Oh, it’s you. It was delicious. I was just a little surprised...”

Agatha didn't even hear the sound of someone coming in. Thinking back, she didn't remember hearing Marie answer.

On one side of the office, which she looked back at reflexively, the maids close to her were standing quietly with their gazes downcast.

Enoch bowed his head slightly towards her.

“Are you done with the work?”

“Oh, yes. This is the last one.”

Agatha, who suddenly came to her senses at the sight of his blue hair fluttering in front of her eyes, signed the last document and stamped her seal.

Jessie approached quietly and quickly hugged the documents into her arms.

“I will pass this on to the administrator.”

"Yes."

Jessie went out. Marie came over quietly and asked while tidying up the desk.

“It’s dinner time, so should I tell them to prepare dinner?”

“Yeah. Please.”

After the maids naturally left, it was just Enoch and her in the office.

The man sitting at the desk looked down at Agatha blankly.

"Enoch?"

“...I guess it’s a good thing I got to go back.”

The man, who had been quietly mumbling something incomprehensible, tapped the finger that was still holding the quill.

“Let’s eat and rest early today. The long carriage journey begins tomorrow, so I think it would be a good idea to go to bed now.”

“Are you done with work?”

“The barracks have been reorganized, the knights who will follow have been selected, and the perimeter of the underground prison has been re-examined.”

“Good job.”

How fortunate she is to have such a capable husband.

There was no need to double-check things he took care of on his own without her having to say anything.

“I think I can rest early thanks to you.”

He kept his gaze focused on the smiling lips and smiled softly.

“I have to work harder from now on.”

“You’re already doing well enough.”

How many husbands would go to war twice because of their wives?

“You are the best husband I have ever had.”

Agatha gently grabbed the hand that was wandering around the quill and kissed the tip of its finger.

Large, strong hands that were always wrapped in gauntlets.

The familiar man's hands were still white, but rough.

Still, it was good. To her, it was proof that he had tried his best.

A trembling hand stroked Agatha's cheek.

“You are the best to me too.”

“That’s good news.”

“...Sometimes, look around a little. Call the servants and take care of things that don’t need to be done.”

“Well, I guess it’ll be okay now. My relatives will be well-behaved too.”

“If necessary, you may take as many of my retainers as you wish.”

“That’s what I do when I deal with the Aratus family’s affairs.”

“You are too busy.”

The man let out a long breath like a sigh, took out the quill, and put his hand between them.

“Let’s go get something to eat. Before we leave, I’ll call the doctor and have him check your condition.”

It's really okay.

But Agatha smiled slightly and stood up to follow the man leading her.

“While I’m at it, you should do it too.”

“It’s time for proof again. I need to let you know that I’m not hurt this time either.”

After enjoying a grand banquet prepared in the dining hall, Enoch called the doctor who was actually in the barracks.

Agatha received the examination a little bewildered.

She thought it was a joke.

First of all, the examination results showed that the bruised area was completely healed.

It was a stroke of luck that she managed to roll through the soft bushes when she fell off her horse.

As she came out wearing her gown, the doctor was reporting to Enoch.

“Your Grace is in good condition. She has recovered well from the shock of the fall from her horse.”

“Would it be okay if I went to the capital?”

“Of course. Just make sure you eat well and get enough sleep.”

“Keep that in mind.”

Enoch turned around as he ended the conversation as if he had already noticed her approach.

“Are you out, ma’am?”

“It’s your turn now, Enoch.”

"All right."

This time Enoch entered the bedroom. Agatha, who had been waiting in the inner room, asked the doctor a question as soon as he came out.

“What about him?”

“Very well. You don’t have to worry, ma’am.”

The next day.

The procession of the Aratus family, now fully prepared, headed toward the capital with hundreds of knights in tow.

The wagon following behind carried a tightly sealed coffin.

The Aratus family's procession, which had returned much earlier than scheduled, passed through the main gate of the capital's bridal residence.

The head butler, Allen, was leading his servants and was waiting in front of the main mansion.

“Welcome, Marquis, Madame. Congratulations on your victory.”

“Long time no see, Allen.”

It wasn't like when she left though.

However, Agatha's face, which had been moving at a fairly fast pace to carry out the imperial decree, was covered in fatigue.

Allen brought good news.

“I’ve prepared the bath, meals, and sleeping quarters. I’ve also cleaned the annex.”

“As expected of Allen.”

Agatha sent her men away first. Enoch was checking the security situation with the knight who had been guarding the mansion.

Perhaps some of the knights will remain here, while the rest will return to the capital, Aratus Mansion.

“Please guide the remaining knights. Make sure they have a good bath, food, and a place to sleep.”

“Don’t worry, Ma’am. I will do my best.”

Agatha waited for a moment and then entered the mansion with Enoch, who had finished his work.

The mansion she returned to after a long time was still the same.

It was managed very neatly under Allen's direction.

As late autumn approaches, it is noticeable that the curtains and decorations have been changed to more heavy and dark colors.

“The mansion is well maintained, Allen.”

“Thank you, ma’am. I always do my best.”

A look of joy crossed Allen's face as he guided them ahead.

Agatha gently squeezed Enoch's hand, which was resting under her other hand.

The man's eyes immediately checked the hand and then turned towards her.

“Enoch. How about we have dinner together in the inner room tonight? Then we can sleep together.”

Agatha was now used to waking up in his arms.

She didn't really plan on doing anything though.

She thought it would be nice to sleep snuggled up next to him.

Enoch's eyes closed lazily.

“I am glad you asked me first. After I wash up, I will go straight to your room, Agatha.”

“Yeah, I’ll see you later.”

Agatha naturally bent down and kissed his cheek before turning around.

When she came out of the room after enjoying a long-awaited bath.

FEnoch, who had washed up and sat down on the sofa, was with his assistant, John Witney.

"Enoch."

“Welcome, Agatha.”

The man's hair, which had been roughly shaken off, was still shiny.

Agatha asked her maid, taking a towel from her.

“Is something urgent coming up?”

“No, that’s not it. I was ordering him to find out the situation in the capital.”

“Oh, right.”

Enoch looked at the towel and naturally tilted his head. The round towel fell over his short blue hair.

Agatha wiped the moisture from her hair with a familiar expression and sat lost in thought.

The maids who had become accustomed to seeing that sight many times were smiling happily.

The eyes of Aratus's aide, John Whitney, standing in front, and the servants going in and out of the inner room to prepare the meal were shaking without any rest.

Agatha's mouth opened.

“Come to think of it, I forgot to tell my aide to look into the current situation. I’ll take care of it myself, but I think it would be a good idea if Sir John could go and help me investigate.”

“...That is what Aide Ethel Masro said. I will go and deliver your order, Madam.”

“Please take care of me, sir.”

John Whitney swallowed hard and stepped forward.

By then the meal was almost ready.

A tablecloth, napkins, and silverware were temporarily laid out on the table.

The butler, who had been hesitating on his way into the room, quickly approached Allen and bowed his head.

“Madam, the food is ready.”

“Come out at once. That would be better than the course today.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

While giving various instructions, Agatha's gaze was fixed on her blue-gold hair, which had almost lost its moisture.

Agatha put down the wet towel and stroked her short hair.

It was a little rough though.

However, it seems that the recent requests made to the servant were rewarded as he became much smoother than before.

“My hair feels softer.”

“The servant always put something in the bathroom.”

“For the time being, please take a bubble bath, even if it’s annoying. Your skin texture is really damaged. Okay?”

The man who had been quietly resting his head on her hand nodded.

Only then did Agatha smile and take her hand away.

“Shall we eat now?”

There were various well-cooked dishes on the table. Enoch naturally placed a plate of soup in front of her.

It was around that time. The butler came in with a knock, and Allen greeted him politely.

“Madam, His Highness the Crown Prince has arrived.”
