KFBRV - Chapter 51

“What’s taking so long? ...What’s that dress you’re wearing?”

It was time for Sion to bring Karl, but Odette did not come down, so Ferdinand went to find her himself.

“My mother gave it to me as a present. How does it look to you, brother?”

Odette looked as if she knew nothing, with a bright expression on her face.

“...That damn lady.”

Ferdinand clenched his teeth and let out a vicious voice.

“You don’t like it. If you don’t like it, I’ll change it. You’re more important than Mom.”

Perhaps because of the recent war of nerves with his mother, Ferdinand seemed to have softened up to Odette's words.

Fernand clicked his tongue and shook his head.

“Phew, yes. It’s time for our appointment. What if I’m late and the Marquis doesn’t like me?”

Ferdinand still had no idea that he was being deceived by Sion.

'He's a tyrant at home, but he acts like a dog in front of Sion. How pathetic.'

“I guess so. As expected, my brother is smart.”

Odette knew this would happen, so she deliberately stalled for time until it was just around the corner. She liked the dress so much that she didn't want to change it.

But Odette lowered her eyes as if she was sorry and followed Ferdinand down into the garden.

A carriage soon arrived at the mansion.

A black luxury carriage with the Kleist emblem engraved on it, followed by a prison carriage.

“Do as you practiced yesterday. Other than that, just say basic greetings and act as you normally would. If you talk nonsense...You understand, right?”

The Count, with his eyes wide open, repeated the warning he had given several times.

“Yes, I will, Father.”

As always when under the Count's surveillance, Odette looked haughty and arrogant like a doll.

She knew exactly what her father wanted. In her last life, when Karl came here, she played the role of a villainess. So to speak, she has actual experience.

Only then did her father turn his gaze to the coming carriage.

'That's what I want anyway. I don't want Karl to find out about my position in the family.'

It would only be to her disadvantage if Karl were to be found out about how poorly she is treated in this damn corner of the house.

She too wanted to be seen by Karl as the only daughter of this family, raised with great care.

To Karl, Odette had to be a master who could not be messed with.

Soon the luxury carriage stopped. Odette stood quietly in her seat as the Count had instructed.

This is an official event where the heads of each family meet. It was customary for the heads of each family to greet each other first.

But something unexpected happened.

“Are you here? Your Grace the Marquis!”

Before the Marquis and her father could even say hello, Ferdinand ran out like a puppy on fire. He must have been in a hurry because he bent down before Sion could even get down.

“...”

“...”

At the sight of such a shameful sight, the garden suddenly became silent. Even the solemn father seemed at a loss for words.

“How shallow.”

Sion snickered as he said that. Normally, he would have greeted Ferdinand out of consideration for his status in front of his subordinates.

'That kid's too mean for that.'

“Get out of the way. Don’t block the road, you piece of shit.”

As expected of a man with a broken character, Sion kicked Ferdinand's calf with his foot and gracefully got out of the carriage.

It was a contrast to Ferdinand, who limped away with a pale face.

But it was very ugly that he smiled cowardly instead of protesting, thinking that he might miss the opportunity to become the Prince.

“Ahem, Your Grace. Did you have a pleasant journey?”

The Count, barely able to hide his humiliation and with a solemn expression, returned and greeted Sion.

“It was terrible. How could my good relationship with the Count have made my journey here so easy?”

But Sion snickered and laughed, and smoked a cigar in front of her father.

It was definitely an act that trampled on her father's dignity. Even when negotiating from a position of power, Sion attitude was like that of a devil.

Ferdinand limped beside his father, his face flushed with insult, lighting a cigarette like a servant at the end of Sion's cigar.

One head goes in up to the crow's feet because of the bigger height difference.

Odette watched this farce as if it were someone else's business.

“Hello, Lady Albrecht?”

Sion laughed, exhaling a puff of cigar smoke.

The eyes of the servants and maids lined up in a row, as well as those of her father and Ferdinand, were all turned toward her.

'What the heck, that guy? Last time we broke up after swearing at each other.'

“Hello, Your Grace.”

Still, Odette bowed to him as was customary, but instead of accepting her greeting, Sion strode towards her with long strides.

Then he grabbed the back of her hand and kissed it.

'What the heck? What kind of new type of bullying is this?'

It was fortunate that Odette was wearing gloves.

“You’re begging me to give you that foreign guy? Is that the type of person you like?”

Sion whispered so that no one else could hear.

His expression was such that only one corner of his mouth went up. It was clear that he intended to insult her.

Of course, no matter what Sion says, Odette cannot answer in a whisper like that.

Because she's sure her father will later question her to the point of exhaustion about what she talked about with the Marquis.

Even without that, her father was already glaring at Odette as if he was going to kill her if she talked nonsense.

Odette started acting right away, with a typical villainess laugh, her eyes shining with blatant greed.

“Yes, Your Grace. Isn’t Karl pretty? Now, there is only one Fenrir. Shouldn’t I have the most precious one?”

Odette glanced at the Count's reaction and fortunately, he seemed satisfied and had a disgusting smile on his lips.

Odette thought to herself with relief.

'Sion knows my situation, so he must know that this behavior is an act.'

She expected that he would join in by acting appropriately.

But unexpectedly, Sion laughed even more with his lips twisted, and at the same time, he forcefully let go of her hand.

“Your tastes are really shitty.”

"Yes?"

“You like that kind of thing...?”

Even if it was a bit too beggarly for her taste, Odette found it strange that Sion called Karl 'that kind of thing'.

Because in the game, Sion never ignored Karl.

The Kingdom of Fenrir had a harsh climate and a small population, but its military power and level of civilization were extremely high.

The reason why they were severely discriminated against by the people of the continent was because they were too good at minority issues. Discrimination comes from fear.

That is why Karl, who was the next head of the Fenrir clan before the kingdom was destroyed, was treated as the 'Crown Prince of the Allied Nation' by the Barceha Empire.

Even though his clan was destroyed and he was relegated to third-class citizenship, Sion in the game always treated Karl as a Prince.

From Sion's perspective, Karl was not someone to be despised.

“Yes, of course. I like Karl.”

Before Odette could finish answering, Sion strode towards the prison carriage.

The black curtain was pulled away to reveal Karl tied up in a prison carriage.

He was wearing heavy restraints on his arms and legs and had iron balls in his mouth.

'This isn't human, this is treating you like an animal.'

Sion looked at Odette's frowning expression with a satisfied expression, then pulled one of the prison bars with his bare hands, leaving the intact iron door open.

The bars were strangely warped, just enough for a man to pass through.

“Come out, stranger.”

At those words, Karl glared at Sion defiantly.
