KFBRV - Chapter 2

<Redemption>. In this game world, there are things called transcendent beings and purifiers.

Simply put, a transcendent being is a person with supernatural powers. A monster commanded by God and a weapon that prevents disaster.

However, the transcendent's power had a limitation in that the more it was used, the more it would contaminate the owner's body, and if the contamination level exceeded a critical point, the owner would go berserk.

The person who prevents such transcendent beings from going wild is the Purifier. A being who purifies transcendent beings that have become contaminated through physical contact.

That is why, when the Transcendent beings meet their Purifiers, they are completely fascinated and cannot help but worship them.

And here in the 'Barcheha Empire', four S-class Transcendents have miraculously awakened in this generation.

It was a miracle that would be recorded in the history of the continent beyond the empire.

However, in contrast, not a single Purifier who could purify them has awakened.

The female protagonist, Charlotte, awakens as an S-class purifier in such an empire. She is literally the 'one and only savior'.

The plot of the game was that Charlotte, the sole Purifier of this empire, seduces the Transcendents and enjoys a sticky love that is rated 19+.

And the villainess who appears in the game.

A deceiver who deceived the Empire by pretending to be an S-class Purifier when she was not even a Purifier.

A woman who committed unspeakable evil deeds but avoided all punishment by pretending to be a false purifier.

A witch who has been receiving special privileges by exploiting the empire for three years and has toyed with the four S-class Transcendents who are the empire's heroes.

That was Odette, her former self.

There was a story behind how an innocent young girl who had never gone outside without the Count's permission became the worst villainess in the empire.

Exactly 'that thing.'

It happened that Ferdinand, the Count's son, and Odette's older brother, got drunk on drugs and killed a civilian woman.

The power of the Transcendent was no different from that of a weapon, and so the military laws governing them had to be strict.

Eventually, when Ferdinand was sentenced to death by a military court, his father decided to use Odette to evade the sentence. This is by taking advantage of Imperial law that grants the Purifier and his second cousins or closer family immunity from criminal punishment.

"If you try to purify, you will be found out, but if you don't do it all the way, the only way to distinguish a purifier is by their unique scent. A unique scent that only a Transcendent being can smell."

"..."

"I know how to create a scent similar to that of a purifier. It will be enough to fool the transcendent beings."

Count Albrecht's family had been running a pharmaceutical company for generations, and the Count, as he had boasted, quickly created the drug he called 'Mengele'.

A green drug that, when injected once, will give off a floral scent similar to a purifier for 24 hours. A fraudulent drug that has no purifying powers at all, created solely to deceive Transcendent beings.

So Odette became a fake purifier.

Who would have ever imagined that anyone would dare to imitate the Purifier, who appears only through the arrangement of God?

Count Albrecht began to lie to the entire continent and received enormous benefits in return.

Exclusive rights to manufacture and sell the drug that the Empire's transcendents used to prevent rampage. Supply of the drug to the palace. Several mines. Even a high-quality territory.

That was the price Odette paid for having nightmares every night about being bitten all over her body by wasps and receiving Mengele injections that were so painful that one injection left her unconscious for hours.

"This suffering is nothing compared to the grace we have bestowed upon you! Why do you keep making noise when I told you to endure it?"

"Ugh, uh-uh... I'm... I'm sorry, Mother. I... I can do better.

Odette endured all that suffering because she believed that if she could endure, her family would all be happy.

However, as great as the benefits to the purifiers were, the price to be paid when they were discovered to be fake purifiers was enormous.

Impersonating a Purifier is considered a 'crime against humanity' and will be thoroughly punished.

The mastermind behind this affair could never escape the death penalty.

"Odette deceived her family. We too are victims of deception, Your Majesty!'

Her father, mother, brother, the butler, and even a single maid all pointed to her as the mastermind. They said it was a lie she had made up.

"Ugh, ugh!"

Odette, who lost her tongue at the hands of her father, could not even protest properly.

Of course, even if she protested properly, nothing would change. Eventually, Charlotte appeared and Odette was sentenced to death by hanging. Her mother laughed at her as she waited for her death in a miserable state in prison.

"Did you really think you were part of our family? You are truly out of your mind! You are nothing more than Ferdinand's toy. Since your master has decided to abandon you, you should die happily. That is the way a toy should be."

Red tears flowed down from Odette's eyes, where all the blood vessels had burst.

Only then did Odette realize how ridiculous her naivety in wanting to be loved through effort must have seemed to them.

Afterwards, Odette managed to escape from prison and desperately ran away for her life, but was eventually caught after two years.

The four male protagonists are S-class transcendents of the Empire and hate Odette. And she was killed with her head cut off by an axe right where she was caught.

Odette sighed, rubbing her neck.

The sharp sensation in her throat was still vivid. And the more she remembered that misery, the more anger she felt toward her family.

It was foolish of her to believe that her parents would be happy to receive the most precious thing she had.

How stupid of her to realize that only after she's been thrown away, every time.

'This time it will not be me who will be terribly destroyed, but you.'

Odette made up her mind. In her past life, her family worked so hard to portray her as a villainess, so this time, she was going to become a real villain for them.

Instead of being foolishly killed by emotions like love, she will return the pain and suffering she received to them and live a real life.

It was clear that this was the life she had come back to. To kill her fake self and become the real villainess.

***

The next day, early in the morning.

'Yes. I have to deal with this guy first.'

The time limit for Odette to complete her revenge was clear: a sixth month later when Charlotte appeared.

The male leads, who smell the real Purifier's rose scent with the appearance of the female lead, begin to suspect that the villainess who gives off an artificial rose scent is fake.

Moreover, according to the setting, the moment they meet the female protagonist, the male protagonists' hatred towards Odette is automatically increased by 61 times.

A symbolic value of 61 was set to remind players of Charlotte's birthday, June 1st.

It was a time when she was making fun of the ridiculous setup and planning to achieve revenge in a short period.

Knock, knock.

Odette heard someone coming up to the attic.

Then the door opened with a bang and a woman came in.

Odette's eyes narrowed as she recognized the woman. It was Odette's training maid, Paula.

"Every time I come in here, it smells cheap, Miss."

When she entered the room, she smiled as if she had found a cornered prey.

Then she opened her mouth in a high-minded tone that clumsily imitated the nobleman's.

"Hmm, Miss. But what on earth are you doing now? I thought I told you to kneel and wait before I came up?"

She was wearing an abundance of expensive hairpins and necklaces, and her appearance was hardly that of a maid.

'As expected, it's exactly like I remember.'

In her previous life, Paula had come up to her early in the morning, saying she would educate her.

Paula was the Countess's maid in charge of disciplining Odette. She enjoyed using this as an excuse to leave scars all over Odette's body.

"You were originally born as an orphan, young lady. You dared to speak informally to me, a maid close to the madam, so you should be punished."

From the time Odette was six years old, this maid would put a horsewhip in her hand and hit her thighs with her own hands until she lost count of the number of blows and collapsed. And she would look down at her with stern eyes as if she were her superior.

'How could a human like me be so foolish?'

Odette felt ashamed and pitiful of her past self, who was looked down upon even by a mere maid.

"Paula."

Odette stood upright, smiling elegantly, and looked Paula up and down with the gesture of a nobleman reprimanding an insolent inferior.

Paula's voice, which had been hesitant at that attitude, grew louder.

"You're standing instead of kneeling. I'm going to take this to mean that you want me to discipline you more severely."

"Knock and come back in."

But Odette had no intention of just watching that happen anymore.
