GBYR - Chapter 14

“...”

Angie's eyes opened even wider. Her expression was filled with shock that was incomparable to the surprise she had felt moments ago. The man who identified himself as Kai continued to speak.

“That night, we met in the forest. You were so surprised that you suddenly lost consciousness... I took you home.”

“But Mom said it was a dream... and there was no trace of me going outside.”

“I was afraid you might be worried, so I erased all traces. I wiped away all the snowy footprints and hung the coat back where it was.”

“Why were you in the forest that day, that night? I went out after hearing a strange noise, but why, Kai...”

“I also woke up to a strange echo. So I went into the forest and was surprised to see you.”

“I saw a black shape moving quickly between the trees. Kai... did you see it too?”

“No... I didn’t see it.”

He shook his head slightly. His soft-looking hair rippled.

“But the true nature of the echo has been revealed. Mrs. Dunst said that the mechanical sound was caused by a small anomaly in the wind... Strangely enough, none of the villagers woke up to the sound and came outside.”

Kai took a step closer. He was now right in front of Angie.

“Except you.”

“...”

“There was no one.”

"Yes."

Angie licked her lips absentmindedly.

I see. How strange. How could I, of all the people, have heard that?

But the words were just lingering in her lips, not a single word coming out. Maybe that reason was important. Maybe it had a much more profound meaning than she could imagine. But it didn’t matter now. At least, at this moment, it didn’t matter at all.

There was silence. No words were exchanged between the two. The two of them stared at each other as if they were under a spell. The first to break the silence was the one who showed a little less of his true feelings and had a little more deep affection in his eyes.

“Birthday present... Do you like it?”

“...”

Angie opened her lips slightly at the deep echo. She realized anew what the birthday present he was talking about was, and what it meant if she liked it or not. And she also realized how solid the answer to that question was. A simple, clear, and lucid word naturally tickled the back of her throat.

Yes, I like it. It's so amazingly good. So much...

Angie frowned slightly at the sound of her heartbeat. It was so loud she thought it might burst out.

He is so beautiful. She never imagined that Kai would be this beautiful.

In the end, not a single syllable of those words could be uttered. However, Angie was conveying her feelings entirely through some other means of communication than her tongue. And although she was unaware of it, the other person seemed to be clearly listening to her silent response.

“Can you come a little closer?”

Angie hesitated for a few seconds at Kai's question and then nodded. Without a moment's hesitation, he glided toward her. It must have been a blue-gray color, but now, under the moonlight, his pupils were a mysterious sea color.

With those jewel-like, beautiful eyes, he couldn't take his eyes off Angie's. His face seemed to be deeply captivated by her green eyes.

“You asked me what I wanted for my birthday, Angie.”

"Yes."

Angie slowly licked her lips, dry from nervousness. Her heart was beating faster and faster. Her intuition knew what he would say next. He was about to reveal his birthday present. And that present, perhaps, was not unrelated to the phenomenon of her heart pounding like crazy.

“Angela.”

Her intuition was right. Kai’s hand slowly moved up Angie’s shoulder and cheek. His hand was so warm. Like the affectionate gaze, the warmth of each finger joint made her feel like it was melting like cotton candy.

“The gift I want is...”

He slowly lowered his head. His other hand gently but firmly supported the back of Angie's head. Angie's lips trembled. He stopped moving in front of her lips. And he remained motionless. Kai was deliberately giving her a chance now. He was giving her some space to reject him.

But Angie didn't refuse. She didn't push Kai away, nor did she back down. She couldn't even realize whether this was the right thing to do. She just felt his breath coming close to her. She only felt that his breath was so sweet and warm as if it could melt the coldness of the blue moon in an instant.

The next moment, Angie flinched at his cold lips. She almost took a step back, but she didn't. The temperature of his hands and lips were clearly different. But the coldness was only temporary, and his lips were quickly absorbed by her warm lips and the even warmer feeling inside.

His lips gently brushed the surface of Angie's round lower lip. It tickled like a feather landing. The strange sensation sent a strong shiver down Angie's spine.

A strange tongue slowly and forcefully entered her mouth. His tongue slowly stimulated her teeth and the soft inner mucosa.

Angie's mind became hazy from the sensual rhythm and sweet sensation. Before she knew it, her two feet were lifted up neatly. The pleasure caused by his tongue swept through her entire body like a wave. The wave did not stop. The thrill that had once passed returned without fail. After a repetition that seemed to last forever, Angie stopped breathing for a moment.

The tongue that had been moving slowly and gently wrapped around hers and sucked hard. As the movement became more dynamic, the strange and ticklish sensation also became more intense. Amid the suffocating thrill, Angie's breathing became free again. The hot and thick ecstasy was slowly leaving her lips.

Angie opened her closed eyes. Kai lifted his face and looked down at her. Instead of his lips, a hand came up to cup Angie’s cheek. It was only when long, white fingers brushed her plump lower lip that she realized.

This is not a dream. The person in front of me right now is Kai. And just now I...

I kissed him.

In an instant, Angie's mind flashed and she took a step back. Kai's hand reached out and stopped her from moving back. However, there was no sign of him kissing her again or doing anything else against her will.

The beautiful blue eyes reflected in the moonlight, and the desire in those pupils was still there. However, other emotions were greater and more earnest than desire.

“Angie. Are you okay?”

"...No."

Angie shook her head in confusion.

“It’s okay... It’s not.”

“Did I do something wrong? I...”

A painful light passed through Kai's eyes.

“I suddenly did that... so you didn’t like it?”

"No."

She shook her head more vigorously. Angie continued speaking hurriedly, fearing that the anxiety and pain in his eyes would deepen.

“I didn’t hate it.”

She had given her an implicit veto from the beginning. And she did not exercise the veto she had been given. There was no denying that she had absolutely no intention of doing so.

“I didn’t hate it... but Master Kyle and I, if we do this... we can’t do this...”

This relationship can't be like this. It can't be like this.

Originally, he was someone she could not dare approach. He was the sole heir to the noble Blackwell family, and she was merely the daughter of a servant and employee. Kai read the silent message in Angie's eyes and placed his hands on her shoulders again.

“You are special to me, Angie.”

“...”

“And we can do this all the time. My mother... my late mother was the daughter of a music teacher who taught my father piano.”

Angie's eyes widened at the unexpected confession. It was a fact she had never known. The late Duchess of Blackwell was the daughter of the live-in governess. Naturally, she had assumed she would be the daughter of a family as high-ranking as the Duke's.

“Angie. I really think of you very specially. I think it’s been that way since you first came to the mansion. Since that fall two years ago...”

“Master Kai...”

Angie's eyes widened. Her heart, which had been calm for a moment, began to beat loudly again. His tone was low yet strong. His tone was the best example of how one can be as persuasive as possible without having to shout loudly.

“I like you, Angie. I mean it.”

His two arms carefully pulled her body into his arms. Angie didn't push him away. From his broad, strong shoulders, from the nape of his neck slightly exposed between his collar, and from under his ears, a faint body scent flowed out. It was hard to believe that someone's body, their bare skin, could smell so good.

Angie's two hands, which had been floating in the air, slowly moved to Kai's back. As the hands gently touched his back, the arms holding her also applied more strength.

It won't work. The moonlight is too bright.

Angie closed her eyes. But the moonlight was never too dazzling.

Is this... a dream? If it is a dream, I never want to wake up.
