100CIM - Chapter 129

I felt extreme pain.

...Uh

Asleep.
..

A familiar whisper was also heard from somewhere. What on earth could it be?

Simone felt herself slowly coming to her senses in pain and focused on the whisper.

Only then could she realize what the familiar voice was saying.

Rather than living like this, I'd rather die...I'd rather die...

"Ah..."

Simone woke up feeling a heaviness on her shoulders.

When she opened her eyes with difficulty, leaving the pain behind, the scenery she saw was dark. She wasn't even lying down.

She just stood there in the cold darkness, barefoot.

'Simone on the 4th floor is really me.'

Simone is pretty sure of this.

She looked down, thinking indifferently.

These are the stairs leading to the 4th floor.

Now she realized, Simone was loitering here every night, and the old ghost was pressing down on her shoulder to wake her up.

Did she try to wake me up like this on days when I didn't remember?

Or maybe last night, which felt like a dream, was the first day that the old ghost helped Simone.

'That's true, but how did you get into the mansion?'

Simone moved away, leaving behind her questions and gratitude, not gratitude, towards the old ghost.

If she had barely come to her senses after being possessed like last night, she had to use this opportunity to find a clue to this curse.

Simone took a step to go down the stairs, but then stopped and took a step back.

What is that?

Something was crawling up from underneath the stairs, lying flat on its stomach.

A long-haired woman stared blankly at Simone, blood slowly pouring down her face.

Simone's gaze turned to her lower body.

There were no legs.

'That's the legless woman that Kaylee was talking about.'

She approaches, blocking Simone's path. Simone hesitates, then quickly runs past her and comes down.

As she passed the woman, her hand reached out to Simone's ankle, but as grotesque as her appearance was, she had no legs and could not catch Simone as she ran down.

'Is that woman the ghost in the manual?'

Simonw was looking through the manual that she had memorized by heart, having looked through it right before she fell asleep, but there was no instruction regarding the legless ghost.

If there's one curse that seems plausible, it's the fifth curse, 'It can play pranks or attack at any time.'

Other than that, there wasn't anything particularly noteworthy.

“Ugh!”

Simone, who was running down the third-floor hallway in a hurry in case a legless ghost was chasing her, stopped due to a severe headache.

"Ugh!"

The pain, which she thought would be temporary, lasted for a long time and eventually Simone sat down, holding her head.

It wasn't a level of pain that could be tolerated.

It wasn't a throbbing pain, but rather a feeling as if the soul inside the body was splitting into many parts and screaming to escape.

It feels like all thoughts and memories are gone and something else is taking their place.

She felt like if she stayed still like this, her body would be taken away.

'No.'

She felt like if her body was taken away she would never get it back.

As Simone struggled to hold on to her increasingly confused mind, the nine-foot ghost clinging to her shoulder began to press down even harder on her shoulder.

Thanks to that, Simone was barely able to get up, holding on to her clouded mind.

If Simone had woken up with the curse in effect another night like last night, she might not remember anything from that time because she couldn't stand the severe headache she was experiencing and lost consciousness.

If Simone had lost consciousness in the situation just now, she would have definitely lost both her memory and her thoughts.

'I can't hold out for much longer.'

How many more times does this headache continue while Simone endures it? Eventually, Simone will lose consciousness and become unable to bear it.

If so, it is understandable why the content of the added guidelines was so confusing.

Simone from the past realized that if she lost consciousness, she might lose her memories.

While trying to figure out a way to warn Simone, who was about to wake up with lost memories, of this danger, she came up with this idea...

'The Mansion's Guide.'

The first thing Simone sees when she notices something strange.

It was as if she was sending a signal, leaving a dying message.

So the question of why she still has memories of last night remains, but for now, the priority is to find out any clues before she loses consciousness and before the legless ghost catches her.

Clearly, there will be a clue to be obtained at this time when the body is stolen and returned briefly.

‘Even if it’s not me...’

She had to keep moving and acting, trying to find clues so that even those who were hiding somewhere and watching her would have something to figure out.

Simone thought as she ran down the hallway, checking her surroundings for anything suspicious.

Instructions. Probably the one who wrote not to go to the 4th floor or to run away when you see Simone is the current Simone, and the one who drew a line and urged her to go to the 4th floor is someone who is trying to take over Simone's body.

So who is that someone?

'How would I know...'

It was daunting, but there was something to think about.

The headache she just had. It wasn't just a simple migraine, it was a strange feeling as if her soul was being split and added to itself, swelling up.

It felt as if Simone's soul was merging with something and rearranging itself, becoming larger.

To be more precise, it seemed like many people were rushing to take over Simone's body, fighting among themselves.

Among them was Simone's soul.

It was the largest and most majestic of them all, but it seemed like it was too much trouble to hold Simone's body amid the sabotage, so it kept dropping.

Yes, a mental battle with countless souls, who would take over Simone's body. That was Simone's current state.

'So that's what the instructions were about.'

Simone burst out laughing.

If Simone writes that she shouldn't come, whoever it is inside her body rewrites it to tell them to run to the 4th floor, cut off their legs, and die.

So, in the end, she lost the mental battle, and her memories were erased. Is that what happened?

'Of course, it might not have been me who wrote to cut off the leg, but that female ghost.'

Simone didn't think so. If she thinks about it a little, there's no way a legless ghost that crawls on its stomach could touch the instructions on the table.

Then, Simone got a headache again.

"Ah...!"

Simone sat down, holding her head.

The strange sensation and pain of her soul being torn apart and reconnected with another soul continued for a long time, and her body trembled.

No. Hold on. Otherwise, she'd forget all about this feeling and spend tomorrow with no memory.

This sensation is felt only by Simone, but it is an important clue to thinking about who, or rather who has taken possession of her body.

Let's not fall asleep and hold on.

As if she knew Simone's thoughts, the nine-foot ghost pressed her shoulder hard.

To make matters worse, the legless woman whom she had finally shaken off came down to the third-floor hallway, found Simone, and started crawling towards her.

Therefore, even though she needed to come to her senses even more, Simone couldn't do so.

As her mind became clouded by the soul-torching pain, the agony of the nine-legged ghost grew stronger.

Eventually, Simone couldn't stand it anymore and struck down the nine-legged ghost, after which she lost consciousness.

***

“What the heck is this...”

The servants who witnessed the entire process from when Simone woke up to when she lost consciousness were speechless.

The same was true for Grand Duke Illeston and Jace, who came to see her after hearing the news late.

Even though they saw it with their own eyes, I still couldn't quite understand what had just happened.

Simone, who was loitering on the fourth floor, seemed to come to her senses when a ghost with long arms and legs landed on her shoulders.

After that, she started running to the other side of the third-floor hallway to avoid the legless ghost, and during that time, she would occasionally sit down and shake as if her head was hurting badly.

At this, the servants in charge of Simone and Jace made a fuss and wanted to go to her, but they were barely able to calm down after the persuasion of the Grand Duke of Illeston, Kelle, and Ruth.

After that, the legless ghost continued to chase Simone, and Simone suffered from the pain several more times before eventually losing consciousness.

The change happened at that moment.

As the people of the mansion were trying to sort out the situation without any clues because Simone had lost consciousness, Simone suddenly got up and started walking slowly towards the legless woman.

'The eyes...'

Kelle let out a sigh without realizing it.

The red eyes were shining again. Simone, who had been looking down at the legless woman with an expressionless face, extended her hand as if asking for a handshake.

And then the legless woman took his hand.

Jace tilted his head at this.

Is it just his imagination that the legless woman, who is probably a ghost, seems more terrified than the peaceful Simone?

As everyone held their breath and watched the two, the legless woman opened her eyes wide, shuddered, and disappeared like black dust.

The black dust swirled around Simone and then disappeared into thin air. Only then did Simone smile in satisfaction and fall back down.

Those who saw this sight could only stare blankly at Simone for a long time until the Grand Duke gave orders to quickly move her to her room.

  1. Anasis or idk the notorious necromancer might have gotten stronger as the occult society tries to revive her so now she is able to directly/partially control Simone's body. From what we've seen in this chapter I think Anasis split her powers through the curses within the duke's mansion so by "collecting/absorbing" each curses again using Simone's body.
