TCORIYH - Chapter 127

Seeing the first one helplessly taken, the other group did not dare to approach Cheraan. Cheraan quickly realized that they were not trained mercenaries, as he scanned their attitudes and sometimes their hesitant attitudes, even though they were armed.

With an incomprehensible roar, blades rushed in from both sides. Cheraan quickly took two steps back and at the same time slashed the man on her right side. From his collarbone to his forearm, she cut in one breath, and blood gushed out enough to obscure her vision. However, Cheraan did not even have time to wipe her face before turning to the side and kicking the man in the stomach with all her might.

“Ugh!”

Was it because he lacked strength? The man hesitated but did not fall. He bent down, clutching his stomach at the sudden kick, and raised his sword above his head with bloodshot eyes. However, his movements were sloppy.

“Ouch!”

Without time to turn the sword he had swung, Cheraan struck the man’s nose with the blunt iron end of the sword’s handle. The blood flowed out in an instant.

How many people were left? Seven? Eight?

“What, what is it!”

“Fuck! I never said that!”

Were there more remnants beyond the hill?

Hearing panicked voices, Cheraan swung her sword, shook off the blood, and ran quickly. The horses were running wild, and the carriage was on the verge of overturning. Beyond that, she saw men in similar attire falling helplessly.

“Chief Bibiyu!”

The one swinging his sword so fast that it was impossible to see was Neos. The two Comblers who had accompanied him were also there. When he saw them, Cheran couldn't help but laugh out loud, even though she was out of breath.

“I don’t know where they came from, but if they picked the wrong day, they picked it very wrong.”

Cheeran swung her sword, wiped the blood off her blade, and spoke. Realizing that the situation was turning unfavorable, the one who appeared to be the leader suddenly shouted urgently.

“Damn it! Hey! Where’s the Crown Princess? Just take the Crown Princess and that’s it!”

“It’s inside there!”

The men, who were panicking and running around, started running towards the monastery building to find the Crown Princess they were aiming for. Cheraan belatedly turned her head after cutting the thigh of one of the men who was persistently chasing her, but they had already entered the monastery entrance which was almost completely destroyed.

“Your Highness! Your Highness, your Highness!”

Neos managed to hear Cheraan's voice even while swinging his sword frantically. He knocked out the man who had been stripped of his weapon by twisting his shoulder in the opposite direction, and he ran towards the monastery as if he didn't even feel the weight of his armor. At that moment, a piercing scream was heard.

“Ahhh! No! It’s not me!”

“Ugh! This... You can’t stay still!”

Judith did not understand the situation that had suddenly unfolded. As she was about to grab the candlestick to throw it at the men who had rushed into the monastery, they rushed in like lightning and snatched Flavia away. Then, Flavia, in a panic, began to scream as if she was out of breath.

“I’m not the Crown Princess! I said I’m not the Crown Princess! The Crown Princess is that woman!”

"This!"

The moment the man's fist was about to strike Flavia's head, Judith, who suddenly came to her senses, threw the lit candle she was holding with all her might at the man's feet. The flames easily spread along the tattered hem of his trousers.

“Eww! This crazy girl!”

While he threw Flavia, Judith quickly ran and grabbed Flavia's wrist and ran outside. At almost the same time that Judith dragged Flavia out, Neos rushed into the monastery. He knocked out the man who was struggling to put out the fire by hitting him on the back of the head and ran outside.

“Your Highness the Crown Princess, are you well?”

“Yes, I’m fine. The second Princess....”

At that moment, Flavia's hand roughly pushed Judith away. Neos frowned and glared at her. Flavia, with her face as black as plaster and trembling, was so pale that it was a wonder she didn't faint at any moment.

“They mistook the second Princess for me and tried to kidnap her. She must be surprised, so call a carriage right away and send someone to the palace to have a palace doctor on standby.”

Judith was surprisingly calm even though something absurd was happening right before her eyes. Neos thought it was a little strange, but since he had heard rumors about the Crown Princess's boldness, he simply nodded with a solemn expression.

“Your Highness the Crown Princess, please stay here with the Second Crown Princess. I will call a carriage to return soon.”

“Understood. And we must take some of them to the palace. If any of them are alive...”

"Of course."

Neos also adjusted his hand with that in mind. Of the fifteen or so people, only three survived, but that was enough.

“Your Highness! Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”

While the comblers went down to call the carriage, Cheraan came running. Judith forced her hard lips into a smile and grabbed Cheraan's hand.

“You’re not hurt?”

“Who am I? These guys don’t even deserve a punch.”

Cheraan, who quickly shook off her blood-covered hands, smiled. The moment Judith saw that innocent smile, she felt relieved and at the same time felt like tears were about to well up. It was fortunate that nothing had happened, but if Cheraan had been hurt or had gotten involved in something worse, how would she have dealt with the regret?

When the carriage arrived, Judith did not help Flavia, who had fallen. Judith looked down at Flavia, who was still sitting there, speechless, as Anne Mille, with a pale face, ran towards her, muttering something.

"The Crown Princess is that woman!"

Flavia must have known this was happening. Judith slowly gathered her thoughts as Mary Anne, who was on the verge of tears, supported her. There was only one chance, and Flavia had let it slip away. There was no turning back now. Whether she knew it herself was another matter.

When the carriage arrived, the palace was already in chaos after hearing the news.

King Jedekayer, furious, ordered that those brought by Neos be interrogated immediately. He decreed that no one would be allowed to approach during the interrogation and that anyone who dared to kidnap the Crown Princess would be publicly punished regardless of their status or identity.

While Judith and Flavia returned to their respective palaces to rest, the King was still loitering in front of the Magnus Palace with an angry expression on his face. Duke Vergy, concerned that his health was deteriorating, repeatedly urged him to go in and rest, but he would not listen.

"Your Majesty."

The King, who had been standing in the same place in silence, raised his head with a stern expression. When he saw the blood on Neos's armor, the King's expression became even more miserable. Terrible things he didn't even want to think about were tangled in his mind.

“What happened?”

“I’m interrogating him, but he won’t open his mouth. I thought he was just a bunch of thugs, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. There must be someone behind him, and he’s keeping his mouth shut to protect him.”

“This is so disgusting!”

The King's shoulders shook as he shouted. Duke Vergy was worried that he might collapse, so he tried to calm him down, but it was a futile effort. The King said.

“Do whatever it takes to get him to open his mouth today. Find out who is behind it. Do you understand?”

“I will accept it, Your Majesty.”

After Neos had withdrawn, the King finally felt a headache coming on and touched his forehead. Duke Vergy hurriedly helped him up as he groaned in pain.

“Your Majesty, you will collapse if you continue like this. Please go inside.”

“No... No. That can’t be. How could this happen, how!”

The King's voice was shaking violently. It seemed that he could not even find the right words to say. The heat that had surged into his head was now resting on his chest, and as it kept happening, he had difficulty even breathing. Nevertheless, he could not just sit there waiting for the results of the interrogation.

This happened in broad daylight. It was even the Crown Princess's public procession. But it was by no means an accident that this happened.

King Jedekayer could guess who was behind this, but it was hard to bear the revelation. Like a piece of paper soaked in poison, he had a headache because he didn't know how to deal with the roots of this evil. It felt like a stone was stuck in his throat.

“Your Majesty the King.”

The King, who had been holding his chest and catching his breath, suddenly raised his head at the sound of a familiar, yet unexpected voice.

“What is the Prince doing?”

When the King pretended to know, Rogero bowed as nimbly as a swallow. Behind Rogero was Ramdark, the de facto leader of the imperial delegation, but for some reason, his expression was not very good.

“I heard that something unpleasant almost happened to the Crown Princess today. I heard that the remnants of the gang are currently being interrogated, but the soldiers are worried because he refuses to open his mouth at all.”

A deep fatigue appeared on the King's face.

“Yes. But what does that have to do with the Prince?”

“I know it may be presumptuous of me, a foreigner, to get involved in the affairs of Rotair, but Her Majesty the Crown Princess is also my friend. Therefore, Your Majesty, please entrust me with the inquiry.”

“..To you? Leave the interrogation to you?”

The King looked at Ramdark as if to ask what on earth he was talking about, but he was still fidgeting and only looking at Rogero's expression, so he was not in a state to give a plausible answer. Duke Vergy also looked at Rogero with a puzzled expression and opened his mouth.

“Your Highness, interrogation is... difficult. Those conducting the interrogation are trained soldiers...”

“I know that much, Duke.”

Duke Vergy unconsciously shrugged his shoulders at the refreshing smile that did not match the serious topic. He was trained to the point where he would not be surprised by anything, but strangely, he felt uncomfortable facing Rogero today. His behavior was no different than usual, but the atmosphere in his eyes was somehow ominous.
