7MIP - Chapter 31

The next day, Agatha woke up late and sat down with Enoch on the terrace of the banquet hall to have breakfast.

It was a simple meal of crispy bacon, soft-boiled eggs, buttered flat white bread with jam, a sour salad, shrimp soup, and a glass of wine.

From the morning, a line of servants carrying letters and invitations poured into the newlyweds' mansion.

Among them, Agatha was smiling as she read a letter from her closest confidant and friend, the Marchioness Iris Domunia.

Enoch asked, handing the servant another slice of crispy bacon.

“It seems like there is good news.”

“I was checking the news while I was away from the capital, and I found an interesting story. Would you like to take a look?”

Agatha pushed the letter to Enoch, cutting off the extra bacon and putting it in her mouth.

Currently, the kitchen is under the responsibility of the head chef of Nobilis and the chef of Aratus.

Unlike the chef from Nobilis who was good at seafood dishes, Aratus' chef was a meat expert.

Savory bacon flavor and just the right amount of doneness.

“I thought about this when I stayed at the Aratus Mansion, but it seems like the chef at Aratus is good at cooking meat.”

“You must compliment him for liking it.”

Enoch's gaze turned to Agatha as he read the letter.

“I heard you headed to the office yesterday. Did you submit the report?”

“Yes. I called my aide at night, took care of it, and then went to bed.”

Most of the news that Madame Iris delivered was about the imperial family.

It has been said that His Majesty the Emperor's mood has been in a state of turmoil for the past two weeks, and this morning, at the court hearing, it reached its peak.

Probably because of the official report posted yesterday.

The Emperor was informed in detail of what happened during the negotiations through his intelligence agency.

The official documents have been uploaded, and the head of the unofficial delegation has returned, so now it's time to make a decision.

“You’ll be called soon. I’ll do my best and come back. Of course, before that, I’ll go get our clothes fitted.”

Agatha, who had finished all the work the night before, wanted to focus solely on tailoring her clothes today.

The man put down the letter without saying anything after seeing his wife smiling brightly. Enoch took a shallow breath and couldn't help but smile.

“I think I’ll have a good day today since you’re looking forward to it. After we finish eating, shall we go straight to the dressing room?”

“Yes. I already have my schedule clear for today. I think it would be good to get some accessories and shoes and have dinner before coming home.”

It had been a long time since I had felt excited about a routine outing.

After a pleasant meal, Agatha went straight to the dressing room. She braided her hair, tied it up in a bun at the back, and decorated it with pearls. Considering the still-hot weather, she chose a dress made of thin material.

As she left the dressing room, putting on light makeup and taking her fan, she saw her husband leaning against the edge of the hallway.

"Enoch."

“Shall we go?”

When they went down to the first-floor hall, there stood the 2nd Vice-Captain Hubert Karwen, who was in charge of escorting them today, and the 1st Vice-Captain Leon Takran.

“I greet you, my lord and lady.”

The two men immediately saluted. Both vice-captains looked fine, but Hubert's face was particularly gloomy.

Leon spoke first.

“I heard you were going out. I have already assigned knights to guard you.”

“Thank you for your hard work. Hubert, are you ready to join us?”

Hubert, hearing Enoch's voice, looked back and forth between Agatha and him with a slightly surprised expression.

“I thought Leon was in charge of Madam’s escort...?”

“Today, I have a schedule to go out with my husband. I think I will be going to the palace alone soon, so I would like to ask Sir Leon for help then.”

Leon, who had already expected this to happen, saluted again at Agatha's smiling words.

“It is natural for the person in charge of the escort to change depending on the situation. As your dedicated escort, I have been informed of your schedule. I will prepare.”

Enoch nodded slightly and looked at Hueber again.

“Aren’t you ready? If not, Leon-”

“I will tell them to bring my horse right away, my lord. We may leave immediately!”

A voice was heard calling out for Hubert, who had disappeared out the door like the wind, to hurry and bring the horse. Agatha smiled faintly.

“Then I will ask you to take good care of me from now on, Sir Leon.”

“I will do my best, ma’am.”

While Agatha was boarding the carriage escorted by Enoch, the knightly escort formation led by Hubert was completed.

Second Lieutenant, Hubert Karwen, who had completed his inspection, approached the carriage and reported.

“Ready to go.”

“Let’s go.”

"Depart!"

Enoch's order was given, and a procession carrying the flags of Nobilis and Aratus headed toward the boutique Agatha often visited.

"Madame Charlotte's Dressing Room"

An old-fashioned sign fluttered on a three-story building located in the center of the capital.

The capital's famous and sophisticated boutiques were always popular, so reservations were a must for any aristocrat, but there were exceptions everywhere.

As always, Agatha was able to receive Madame's welcome as soon as she arrived.

“Welcome, Lady Agatha. I received word that you were coming and decided not to take any more visitors today.”

In fact, there was a closed sign on the door. Agatha smiled as she introduced Enoch.

“You don’t have to be so considerate, Madam.”

“How can this be, when the most distinguished guest is here? Come in, Madam, Marquis. Everything is ready for you to choose from.”

Madame Charlotte led Agatha straight to the empty VIP room on the third floor.

It was a good place to choose fabrics and patterns, with a podium in a round, circular space, and a table and soft sofa in front of it.

In some of the VIP rooms, the presence of guests who had arrived earlier was felt.

As Enoch sat down next to Agatha, Madame opened her mouth.

“I have heard the news. I heard that you have successfully led the informal negotiations with the Mainukor Empire. There are rumors that Your Majesty will soon be holding a grand banquet at the palace.”

“You’re still quick to catch up, Madam. Plus, I’m thinking of getting a few outfits tailored for the fall social scene.”

“I see. Then I will first show you some of the fabrics that are popular these days.”

Cotton, silk, wool, etc.

Various fabrics entered the hands of the costume shop staff. As expected from a place famous for being the best in the capital, they were all beautiful and of the highest quality without any shortcomings.

“I’ll start with my husband’s first.”

“Yes. First, I will measure your measurements.”

While the staff were measuring Enoch's dimensions.

Agatha and Madame looked at various fabrics that would suit him. The ones placed in the front were those that had been recently touched by many nobles or were representative items from each of the upper classes.

Looking at the generally solemn and heavy fabric, Agatha asked Madame with her eyes the reason.

“What happened in the capital while I was away?”

The colors tend to be refreshing at this time of year.

Madame laughed, pointing to the exact fabric she had been wondering about.

“Haha. This one is a bit more colorful, isn’t it? It’s a new product that just came out today from Neuta. I think they’re planning on coming back soon.”

"Ah."

After listening to it, she felt that the color was just right for the taste of the Duchess of Neuta.

'I guess you're thinking of returning to the social scene in the fall.'

Agatha put down the cloth from the top of Neuta without any hesitation.

As expected from a top brand, the fabric was of quite high quality.

“This doesn’t suit the young nobles. I think the latter would be better. What do you think?”

The man nodded as he shook the employee's hand and lightly straightened his disheveled shirt.

“It looks good.”

“Then first, this.”

"Yes."

Madame quickly took out the fabric Agatha had chosen and placed it on the table.

Besides this, Agatha chose beautiful patterns, colors that she liked, and nice, fine fabrics regardless of the top, and placed them on the shoulders and knees of Enoch, who was sitting next to her.

The man, who had a great body as well as a great face, looked great in everything she put there.

He was half a span taller than most nobles, had a slim frame, and had muscles that had been honed through battle. What more can I say?

Madame Charlotte's eyes, which had been filled with admiration since she first saw Enoch, were becoming increasingly ominous.

The man who had been quietly watching Agatha do whatever she did, picked a piece of fabric and placed it on his shoulder.

“I think this would suit Madam well too.”

The white, luxurious material would be beautiful enough to be used as a belt for a dress or as the hem of a skirt.

“This fabric will go well with my dress and your cravat. Shall I have it matched for the upcoming royal ball?”

“I am fine.”

“Madam, please bring me the blueprint.”

She already had a desire to share fabric with him.

Madame Charlotte quickly placed several large booklets on the table.

“These are the carefully selected designs for this summer’s Imperial Ball.”

Agatha sat next to him and chose matching dresses. The sight of them choosing designs that would suit each other with the book in the middle was like a masterpiece.
