100CIM - Chapter 66

Taaak!

“That will work!”

Bianchi snapped his fingers and spoke cheerfully.

Simone continues to live her daily life, lifting curses as before, but when something comes up that she cannot solve on her own, she receives help from Abel and his group.

Abel's group only consisted of four people, including Louis, but they were soon to have many capable colleagues.

Of course, just those who are with him now will be of great help.

Abel has overwhelming fighting power and main character buffs, Bianchi has excellent infiltration and investigation skills, and Orkan is an excellent magician and researcher who can easily provide her with any information she asks.

Wouldn't it be a pretty good deal if she could get help from these high-level people, just to lend them some strength every once in a while when they want it?

Even if the situation is not too dangerous, Abel and his colleagues will do their best to protect Simone.

“I think I’m okay, what do you think, Abel?"

“I think so too. It’s not a bad deal. If you plan on staying in this country any longer, I can teach you how to handle mana.”

Orkan examined Simone's appearance.

“Besides, this person should be hiding and staying here right now.”

Black hair and red eyes. Marks of a necromancer.

If she was going to accompany Abel and his party, it was only natural that they would quickly leave the village so that Simone could move around comfortably without having to dye her hair.

But to drag someone out when she was well-protected and living a normal life was no different than telling her to deal with the rocks thrown at her by others.

Of course, she could have used the power of magic dye, but there was no need for Simone to go through the hassle of doing something she didn't want to do.

Abel immediately drew a circle with his finger as if there was nothing to worry about.

“Okay! Let’s do that. It’s a shame we can’t go together, but be my strength whenever I need you. Then I’ll be there whenever I need you.”

Abel held out his hand.

“Please take good care of me, Simone. Take Orkan now. Teach him without any regrets and return him.”

“Hey, am I an object?”

Simone took his hand.

“Please take care of me.”

Then, while Abel was playfully pushing Orkan towards Simone.

Knock knock.

Someone is knocking on the door.

“You may come in.”

The door opened as Simone signaled for them to come in.

The first one to step into the room was Kaylee.

Simone's gaze then turned to Grand Duke Illeston, who was following Kaylee into the room.

She thought there would be two of them, but unexpectedly, there was one more person behind the Grand Duke of Ileston.

He looked straight at Simone and opened his mouth.

“You are Simone.”

Simone looked silently at the person who came in with Illeston.

'Where have I seen that guy?'

It was highly likely that Simone, who rarely had reason to leave this mansion, had seen someone else somewhere, but his face really did not seem unfamiliar to her.

The Marquis of Barrington looked around at Simone, who was sitting on the bed, and those sitting around her, looking more haggard than he had seen her before.

Everyone was staring at him at the sudden visitor, but only one person, a hooded man with a sword tied to his waist, stood upright and turned around.

As if he didn't want to show himself to the Marquis of Barrington.

The Marquis of Barrington looked at him for a moment, then back at Simone. The Grand Duke of Illeston had introduced her to Barrington.

“This is the Marquis of Barrington. He wishes to speak with you.”

“With me?”

Simone looked at the Grand Duke of Illeston with a bewildered face.

Abel suddenly asks her to be his colleague, and the Grand Duke introduces her to an outsider even though she hasn't even dyed her hair. It's been a long time since she woke up and all sorts of things have happened.

Simone glared at the Grand Duke of Illeston in protest.

'What if he reveal to the nobles of the Luan Empire that I'm a necromancer!'

Is he crazy? Is Grand Duke Ileston crazy? He was so nice to me until this morning, so why is he acting like this all of a sudden? Is it a curse?

In the Luan Empire, necromancers are executed without exception.

But why did you introduce me to a nobleman?

Then, Grand Duke Illeston, who had a good sense of her intentions, said.

“Do you like money?”

"Yes, yes."

Simone answered immediately. Who in the world hates money?

Grand Duke Illeston chuckled.

“Just talk to him once. He’ll be of benefit to you.”

Grand Duke Illeston said that and took Louis and Abel out.

Simone looked at them in confusion.

“Huh? Are you going out?”

Abel also did not follow the Grand Duke of Illeston and asked with a wary expression.

“Can I trust you?”

Bianchi also looked the Marquis of Barrington up and down as if she was not impressed.

“Shouldn’t you be giving the young lady a weapon before you leave?”

Grand Duke Illeston shook his head.

“You can trust him. Go.”

Simone looked at Louis with a surprised face.

'Uh?'

Strangely enough, Louis, who should have been the most wary of strangers, obediently followed the Grand Duke of Illestone out.

“Abel, Bianchi, Orkan, what are you doing? Come out quickly.”

Even calling other people along.

"Wait for a sec..."

Simone quickly caught them, but Abel and his party naturally followed Louis rather than Simone and went out with the Grand Duke of Ileston.

“...”

Simone looked at the Marquis Berrington with a pointed face.

She thought it was strange and annoying that Louis suddenly disappeared with a cloak wrapped around him, and that the Grand Duke of Illeston awkwardly left the Marquis alone in the room, but for now, she decided to focus on the conversation with the Marquis of Barrington in front of her, as the Grand Duke of Ileston had said.

The Marquis of Barrington sat down in the chair where Abel had been sitting and looked at Simone again.

Black hair, red eyes.

“Definitely a necromancer.”

"Yes."

The red eyes were also warily scanning the Marquis of Barrington.

The necromancer was much younger than he thought.

Simone appeared to be about the same age as the Marquis of Barrington's son and daughter.

“Are you going to report to the Empire? There is a necromancer in the Luan Empire.”

Barrington chuckles and shakes his head.

“I don’t plan on doing that. It’s not the situation.”

Of course, Simone also knows that the man brought by Grand Duke Illeston is not someone who would make his presence known to the Empire.

It was just a light joke.

Okay, let's think about it.

He knows Simone is a necromancer. He knows she's lifting the curse on this family.

But the reason why he came without any intention of reporting to the empire can be roughly guessed.

Simone asked.

“Why did you come to me?”

Then the Marquis of Barrington said:

“I would like to ask you a favor.”

“...A request?”

“Yes. That’s something only you, a necromancer, can do.”

“Is it a curse?”

Marquis Barrington nodded.

“If it’s a curse, then it’s a curse or some phenomenon that may or may not be a curse. I want to leave the solution to them up to you. Of course, along with a hefty commission.”

He wiggled his eyebrows as if to say, "Isn't that interesting?"

“Would you like to come and hear it?”

Commission fee = Independent funding.

The calculation is complete.

Simone smiled brightly.

“Let me hear it.”

The Marquis of Barrington nodded and began to tell his story.

“I am secretly conducting an investigation to solve some major problem that has occurred in the empire.”

As a man who swore loyalty to the royal family, he jumped into the water without hesitation and conducted investigations to solve problems that arose for his lord.

In the process, there was also contact with many sources of information.

As the problem was a problem, it was natural that he would enter the Occult Society.

“But there was no way to solve the problem anywhere. But it’s not like there was no result at all.”

The Marquis of Barrington's expression brightened slightly, then became gloomy again.

“I have come to realize that there are quite a few incidents within this empire that are similar to the major problems I am trying to solve.”

The Occult Society proudly told him that this world was in fact full of strange phenomena, much like those that had befallen the Illestons, and were secretly rampant.

Even though it is increasing little by little.

“So I’m going to ask you to help me resolve some of the issues that have been going on in the capital.”

"Yes."

“And if you can solve all these problems and I will acknowledge your abilities, I will reveal to you a major problem the Empire is facing and ask for your cooperation.”

“...”

“Of course, if we pay you enough money to last you a lifetime and publicly reveal that a necromancer has helped solve the Empire’s problems, it might help you a little by not having to cover your hair and eyes.”

As the Marquis of Barrington continued speaking, he watched Simone's expression, which showed no change, and he felt inwardly uneasy.

What if she refuses?

What if she says that even the support of the Grand Duke of Illestone is enough?

He has no intention of threatening those who say no. He does not want to scare the necromancer who is already born and as big as his own child.

That's why he was talking more than usual for no reason, thinking that Simone might reject him.

Simone, who had been quietly listening to his increasingly lengthy speech, raised her hand and nodded.

“If you want, I can send you to school too-”

“Yes, I understand. You don’t have to tell me more.”

What about school? It's been a while since I graduated, and now you're telling me to go back to school and roll around again?

She thinks it would be best to end the conversation here before more details about the commission come up.

“I’ll solve one thing first and then decide whether or not to take on the next request. Of course, the same goes for the big problem of the empire that the Marquis mentioned. I don’t know what it is, but if it seems like something I can’t handle, I’ll decline. Is that okay?”

Only then did relief appear on Marquis Barrington's face.

This seems like a pretty big problem.

“Yes, let’s do that.”

“Yes, I’ll accept it.”

“Then, although it may be sudden, can I tell you the details of the request right away? I have already told His Highness the Grand Duke.”

As Simone nodded, the Marquis of Berrington smiled brightly, jumped up, and headed for the door.

Then knock.

When he knocked on the door, the Grand Duke of Illeston, who had been waiting outside, came in and sat down on the chair where Bianchi had been sitting.

“His Highness said that it is fine for him to make a request of you, but he would like to hear the details together.”

Grand Duke Illeston simply folded his arms and spat out the words without responding to his words.

“Let’s get started.”

"Yes."

The Marquis of Barrington began to tell the story.

“This happened in an orphanage in the backwaters of the Luan Empire.”
