100CIM - Chapter 60

There is a room that does not exist in the basement of the Illeston Manor, but it definitely exists.

A room that you can't always see and isn't even confirmed on the blueprints, but you can sometimes see it and enter it.

At the very end of the basement, open the door on the center wall.

During the previous disguised rat incident, Anna was dragged into that room and almost eaten, and Simone and the young maid Lise were also almost dragged away after hearing Anna's voice.

Duke Illeston, who was informed of this, said, "Did we have such a room in our mansion?"

The room where the disguised rat was hiding.

What if that room is the resting place of the spirit written in this notebook?

Could it be that the evil spirit Osasanisasao is hiding in that room, waiting for the night to pass?

“Does something bother you?”

Simone nodded at Louis' question and was about to turn around.

"Wait for a second."

Abel called her over and handed her a stone.

It looks like an ordinary stone, but Simone knows what it is because she read it in a book.

“It’s a communications seat.”

“Yes. Wren has some too, but there will be times when you two will act separately. If anything happens to them, contact me.”

Abel pointed to the unconscious servants.

Simone and Louis nodded simultaneously and headed back to the mansion.

***

As Simone and Louis entered the mansion, Anna, who happened to be passing by the front gate, suddenly stopped and greeted them, breathing heavily.

“Simone, you’re here!”

Simone smiled at Anna and greeted her, but she and Louis passed her by.

“Tell the Grand Duke that we found about thirty servants and that we found Kelle too. We will be heading underground now.”

“Yes? ...Yes!”

Anna quickly understood and hurried to Illeston's study.

Simone and Louis headed straight to the end of the underground hallway.

“...”

He could see a wall that was blocked off without any door or anything.

Simone rolled her eyes and stared at the wall in vain.

“There was a door on this wall, right? Am I seeing things wrong?”

Louis answered with a strange expression.

“It was there when I came with Simone before because of the curse, but it soon disappeared.”

Simone usually only comes to the basement when the curse is activated, so she rarely comes to the end of the hallway, so it's easy to not know.

On the other hand, whenever Louis visited the mansion, he would stop by the basement to investigate and talk to the servants, so he quickly realized that there were no doors in the walls originally.

Simone tapped the wall with her palm.

And she tried to send mana to the wall. At that moment, Teeing! Simone's hand bounced off as if it was blocked by something solid.

"Ouch!"

Simone grabbed her hand in surprise.

She tried it to see if it would react to the mana of death, just like the talisman, but it didn't work either.

Louis, who had been quietly watching this, tapped the wall with his foot.

“Can you make the hidden door in this wall appear?”

"I could?"

Louis immediately took out the communications stone.

Jiing- Jiing-

The communications stone glowed green with a soft vibration, and soon someone's voice was heard.

"Hey, what happened?"

It was Orkan's voice.

“It’s not like that. You need to come over to us for a moment. We need you.”

"What, what is it? Is this a love confession?"

Bianchi's teasing voice could be heard from a little distance away.

"Bianchi. Haa... Okay. Where should I go, to the Illeston Grand Duke’s mansion?"

“Oh, call me when you get there. I’ll come pick you up.”

Louise hung up and spoke to Simone.

“Orkan will be coming. Excuse me, but could you please tell the Grand Duke that my colleague is coming?”

“That doesn’t matter, but why Orkan?”

Louis smiled as he escorted Simone to the study.

“That guy has a particularly good mana sensitivity. He’s even found a few doors hidden by mana, even outside of this mansion.”

“Ah, I see. Because he's a wizard.”

Simone smiled faintly without realizing it.

Before meeting Abel, the wizard Orkan was an adventurer who investigated and researched numerous ruins and secrets of lost civilizations.

Did he meet Abel when he stopped by the Empire to investigate the island of Akal that disappeared three years ago?

In the original work, the main characters who set out on a long journey often discovered hidden doors and headed to hidden locations.

When Louis saw that Simone seemed to understand, he separated from her and headed towards the main gate of the mansion.

Since Orkan is a smart guy but has no way of knowing, it seems like they are going to pick him up for fear that he might get lost.

Knock knock.

"Come in."

As she opened the door to the study and went in, she saw once again the Grand Duke of Illeston looking out the window with a desk full of papers.

“Your Highness, did you get what I told Anna?”

“Yes, I found Kelle and some of the servants in Hertin.”

“Yes, Wren’s friends helped.”

“Have you found out anything new in that town?”

Simone approached the Grand Duke of Illeston and handed him a notebook.

“They say there is a hidden room where cursed spirits gather. I suspect that someone possessed by an evil spirit like Osasanisasao is hiding there.”

“What is a room?”

“I think it’s a room that leads to a door that occasionally appears at the end of an underground hallway, but it’s hidden right now.”

Grand Duke Illeston gestured for him to continue speaking.

“I’m thinking of calling Orkan, Wren’s colleague, to the mansion.”

Grand Duke Illeston answered without hesitation.

“Okay then.”

In such an urgent situation, they cannot blindly be wary of outsiders.

It feels uneasy that there are more and more outsiders who rely on him, but Orkan is a very famous person known to even the Grand Duke of Illeston, and he is accepted as Simone's guest.

“Thank you. Oh, by any chance.”

Simone clapped her hands and chuckled. Grand Duke Illeston frowned reflexively.

Simone's expression was the one that came when she took things a step further and made a greedy demand.

"What?"

“Can other friends come into the mansion too? Not mine, but Wren’s friends.”

I don't have any friends-

Simone said, humming sadly to herself.

She will try her best not to let Abel and Bianchi in, out of consideration for Grand Duke Illeston, who dislikes outsiders as much as possible, but she plans to get permission in advance just in case.

“...Phew.”

Grand Duke Illeston's face was filled with annoyance, but he reluctantly gave his permission.

“I’ll allow it this time. But after this is over, don’t come in on their own.”

“Okay, I’ll go back then.”

“Simone.”

As Simone was about to turn back, Grand Duke Illeston called out to her. When Simone turned around, Grand Duke Illeston had an expression on his face as earnest as when he asked about Jace's life or death.

“Do you think all the employees will be able to return to their original state?”

The smile disappeared from Simone's lips. Her eyelids also fell limply and looked toward the floor.

She looked very bitter.

Well, can it be reversed? This is the first time so many people have been cursed at once, so Simone had no idea how this situation would end.

However, seeing Florier come back to her senses, she moves forward with some hope.

“I will try to get things back to normal.”

She will also try to return the ill-tempered Kaylee and Kelle, as well as the other servants who used to come running to the interesting story and ask what curse she will lift today, to their original state.

"Request."

After hearing the words of the Grand Duke of Illeston from behind, Simone left the study and headed back down to the basement.

At the end of the empty basement hallway, Simone was killing time by knocking on the wall and sending out another stream of mana when Louis and Orkan approached.

“Lady Simone, you are here. Is this the place?”

Orkan tapped the wall with a serious face.

“I heard that it is the door to a room created by the necromancer Anasis in the past, so if that is the case, you will definitely be able to find it.”

If there is a space made of mana, no matter what shape the door is made of, Orkan will definitely be able to find it.

“It may take some time to find the door and open it.”

Orkan spoke politely, placed his hand on the wall, and closed his eyes.

And after a while, a silent and quick branch of light spread out from his hand and began to climb up the wall like a vine, as if searching for something.

Simone's eyes widened.

The power of a wizard is seen in a novel. It is the power of pure light attribute mana that is neither black nor ominous, like Simone's mana.

She felt a quiet, calm, yet elegant mana.

Different from the destructive and rough death mana.

When Simone was lost in the beautiful rays of light and was just staring blankly.

“Found it.”

The lights extending from Orkan's hand began to take shape, and soon took the form of a door.

A door that seemed to be drawn with light on the wall. It was the same shape as the door that Simone had discovered in this place before.

“Then I will open it.”

As Orkan spoke, he poured a little more mana into the wall.

Jiing- Jiing-

The communications stone Simone was holding vibrated.

As Simone gently grabbed the communications seat, Abel's urgent voice was heard.

"It's Abel. Sorry, but we have a problem here."

At Abel's words, Louis and Orkan stopped their actions and looked at the communications seat.

Simone asked.

“What’s going on?”

"People who had been sleeping as if dead suddenly woke up all at once, broke down the door of the inn, and started running somewhere."

Bianchi's voice was heard from behind.

"Hey! Over there, over there on the roof! Miss, are people heading towards the mansion? Watch out. They're acting strangely!"

"Bianchi, don't you think the numbers have increased?"

The moment she heard their words, Simone's head turned towards the stairs on the first floor of the mansion.
