THYU - Chapter 83

At first, the fire brigade just fixed the drill on the rock and pretended to drill into the rock. Anyone could see that it was an insincere attitude. However, as time passed and with the help of the gathered villagers, things got better little by little.

However, the pace was so slow that it seemed impossible to finish within 10 days, and people were consumed with anxiety that they might have died in that short period of time.

Since the goal was unclear, the fire brigade quickly lost its strength again. Violet watched Xeric, who was sitting on a flat stone and smoking a cigarette.

"How long are you going to sit here?"

"Going faster doesn't change anything. Please don't rush me."

"How can nothing change, when it's so urgent?"

"They say he's dead anyway. Speed has no meaning."

As Xeric spoke and chuckled, Violet grabbed his arm, lifted it, and let go as if to throw it and asked.

"Have you been drinking?"

"Originally we drank all the time. I have never been drunk before, so when I wake up, I end up doing things wrong."

As Jerick sneered, the firefighters behind him laughed.

Violet glared at them and then turned around, having no choice.

She couldn't figure out how on earth that damn fire brigade was going to take this job seriously. Eglin said it came when she was looking for a way to boost the fire department's momentum.

"It's the royal fire brigade. They say they are people who came to say they will be loyal to the King. It's obvious how to encourage people like that."

"..."

"Use It. Violet's biggest weakness is not knowing how to use what she has. Honestly, it would have been much easier if we had at least fawned over our CEO for money and people in the first place. There may be people down there, but is belief really a problem? This is why people hate moral people. I never know when it might be a disadvantage to me."

Violet, who had been quietly listening to Eglin, turned around. After eating, she walked over to the fire brigade who had been sitting in the shade for three hours and making out. When Violet returned, Xeric spoke in a slightly irritated voice.

"I was planning on starting work soon, so please stop working. Wouldn't efficiency increase if you take breaks from work?"

"What do you serve?"

Xeric responded to her grave voice as if it were natural.

"I serve the royal family."

"That doesn't seem to be your attitude. How can you be considered serving the royal family when you are so disloyal to my orders?"

As soon as she said those words, embarrassment appeared in Xeric's eyes, which were under the influence of alcohol. He said as he quickly got down on one knee before her.

"I'm sorry, Your Highness."

"No."

Violet, who was about to change her name, composed herself.

"The dissolution of the royal family does not mean the country has disappeared, but what is your attitude? You are not working for the Calibon miners now. Aren't you here to work under my orders as the Princess of Rakround?"

Then Xeric lowered his head even further.

"I thought wrong. Thank you for your scolding. I will keep that in mind."

"I forgive you."

Xeric was relieved to hear Violet's words and hurriedly got up. Not only Xeric but all the members who joined the fire brigade hoping to work for the royal family had their eyes burning with motivation.

Xeric returned and took off the tent cloth raincoat he was wearing over his uniform, as well as his uniform top.

"It's an order from Her Highness the Princess! Don't whine like little kids because it's hot, dig quickly!"

"Yes, Captain!"

Soon, the rest of the firefighters followed Xeric and took off their jackets.

Although they have been playing and eating for several years, they are basically firefighters who like to train their bodies, so all of them have strong bodies.

Violet was inwardly surprised but maintained her expression as if nothing had happened.

If she hadn't followed Winter to a sporting event before, she might have screamed. Moreover, she saw Winter throw away his jacket because it was hot, so she was able to calm down at least on the outside.

Violet watched them for a while as if watching them, then turned and walked towards a nearby tree.

Then she staggered, crouched down, and covered her face with both hands. The pressure of what she was doing was crushing her. It was just as Eglin said. It wasn't a problem to deceive one's beliefs.

There was a high possibility that all the miners were already dead. She was afraid of the taxes that went into this and the labor of the firefighters, and she was afraid of the children who knew nothing and the hopes of the wives who desperately wanted their husbands to be alive.

She tried desperately not to cry. Even when she first fell into Chiron alone, she didn't feel so lost and scared.

She immediately buried her face in her knees and cupped her trembling hands, but her hands were suddenly grabbed by a large hand.

"What did you do?"

No matter what she thought, it was a man's hand, so Violet raised her head, wary, and her gaze met Winter's. Violet was so surprised that her eyes widened.

"Why are you here?"

"What a great ability. How can you take off so many men's clothes without lifting a finger?"

Violet was so happy because it was a moment when she desperately needed someone to rely on, but Violet also started scolding Winter for her sarcasm.

"Is now the time to talk dirty? What's really going on here?"

"Because you never came in without contacting me.”

"Yes?"

Violet widened her eyes as if she was truly surprised.

"What does that mean?"

"Is this difficult? That's because you don't come home without even contacting me."

"I told you I was coming here, right?"

"You did it before you left."

When Winter really didn't understand, Violet said, Imitating Winter's tone.

"So you're telling me to report that I can't go home every day?"

 "What?"

"That's what you said. I followed it because I thought it was your belief."

Winter looked blank at Violet's words. Since he didn't say anything, Violet thought for a moment and asked.

"Is that really the case?"

"What?"

"You don't have to contact me, but I have to."

Winter, who thought about her words for a while, answered.

"That's accurate."

"That's so incredibly selfish."

At Violet's words, Winter felt very slight remorse and grabbed his wife's arm to help her up.

As Violet poked and pointed at the guilt, looking at her with red, aggrieved eyes, Winter messed up his hair with a pained expression.

"Immediately after getting married, I didn't have time to look back or forward. Once I start sticking with you, who will pay the debt and how will I cover the maintenance costs?"

"That doesn't answer your selfishness. Why don't you have to contact me and I should?"

"In the first place, I don't wait for other people to contact me! But I wonder where you are!"

Winter raised his voice. When she heard the wind rumbling, Violet was startled and slapped his arm and pushed him away. Then, she pulled Winter by the arm and dragged him behind the accommodation where she was staying. The two hurriedly stuck to the wall of the building and waited for the people's whispering to die down. Even though it became somewhat quiet, the two people did not open their mouths.

When Violet turned her head towards Winter, she saw that he was turning his head away from her. It's so hot that the back of her neck gets dry.

"I'm curious too."

"Curious about what, I'm at work."

When Violet hit his arm with her hand in response to his grumbling, Winter couldn't resist and said,

"Yes. For the time being, I will report every day. I promise."

Violet didn't know if he was making a promise for a few days left, but Winter turned his head towards Violet and held out her little finger, gently hooking it on his finger.

Then Violet pulled her finger and asked.

"So, you came because you didn't hear from me?"

"No. Our inventor has created a nice machine to show us. Go to your room. Because we don't want technology to be leaked."

When Winter made the excuse that he wanted to check out the room Violet was staying in, she quickly agreed.

***

As soon as they entered Violet's lodgings, Winter said, looking around every corner.

"It's a better room than I thought."

"I think they gave me the best room in town."

It was a small and neat room. In particular, the bed was so large that it seemed like there would be room for two people to lie down. However, Winter did not like the interior of the room and made a complaint.

"The wallpaper looks like it's 100 years old. The same goes for furniture. Besides, is there any kerosene in this large room?"

Despite all the complaints, he seemed to like the bed and was half lying down with his head resting on it.

Violet felt that the tapping of his toes was an expression of his liking for this room.

Violet sat down on the bed facing him.

"Thank you for coming. You forced yourself to do it."

"Well, anyway, since I borrowed the company's name, I have to pay at least the minimum price. The inventor at our airship lab came up with an invention that could be helpful."

"Really? What kind of invention is it?"

"They say it's a machine that can control direction from the outside. The machine is about the size of a plum. This means that if you just drill that much space with a manual drill, it will move on its own. You will be able to confirm that there is someone inside. If the entrance to the tunnel is unstable, find the exact location of the miners and penetrate from above."

Violet's eyes widened at his words.

"Awesome! It will save us a lot of time!"

"And it's much safer."

Violet's eyes widened at his words.

Violet unconsciously hugged Winter out of gratitude and renewed hope. Then she flinched and hurriedly let him go.

"...?"

"Sorry. Are you still mad at me?"

"Yes. I came here even though you tried to stop me. I thought you would be very angry, but... You say it's none of your business, but it wasn't mine. So, I secretly hope that you will follow me."

“Ah.”

"More than that, you said you were curious now. Do you know how curious I was when I couldn't hear from you?"

Violet was expressing both regrets. When she came closer and said that she had been curious, Winter, who had no fear in the world, could not answer her and ducked behind her.

This feeling was extremely unfamiliar to her.

Is the feeling of receiving attention similar to this? So, are those people who are happily smiling and acting irritated on the street just experiencing this feeling among themselves?

No, but why did guys like Carlson Rowe who grew up receiving only love become druggies?

When Winter was deep in thought with all kinds of questions and didn't have an answer, Violet shook him.

"Winter, are you listening to me?"

"Uh? Yes."

"So where is the invention?"

"I'm sure they brought it already."

"Is it so? Thank you."

"You should like me by jumping up and down a little more."

When Winter, who finally came to his senses, joked, Violet answered politely.

"After confirming whether the miners are alive or dead."

"Are you going to jump up and down later?"

"I'll try if you want."

Violet nodded loudly and answered seriously.
