TCORIYH - Chapter 100

Anne Mille, who had been listening intently to see what would come out, pouted her lips as soon as she heard Judith's name.

“That Prince, he speaks lightly and frivolously, and the things he does are funny. It looks like he wants to flatter the Crown Princess, right?”

Suddenly, a sharp retort came out, and Flavia looked bewildered. It would have been nice to hear someone criticizing Judith, but she knows that Anne Mille did not have much hostility toward Judith until now.

Has this already figured out what she's trying to do?

Flavia stammered out her answer, cautiously observing Annemil's thoughts.

“Annemil... What does that mean? That’s rude.”

“Don’t be too harsh. In fact, it’s like losing what could have been a chance for Your Highness, so why are you trying to take sides?”

"What? Taking sides. I am...”

Even though she was acting awkwardly, Flavia's attitude was still cautious. But she could not guess why Anne Mille's attitude toward Judith had become so cold.

She had never dreamed that Anne Mille, the daughter of a poor Viscountess, would use Flavia's position as a stepping stone to gain fame.

Anne Mille felt a subtle sense of humiliation when her mother, the Countess, became the maid of honor for the Princess, whom she had no interest in except that she was the Queen's maid.

However, Flavia's husband believed that since Queen Gilsis was his biological mother and she would do whatever it took to make him the Crown Prince and later ascend to the throne of King.

Even if Anne Mille did a good job as the Princess's maid, she was bound to receive a pretty good evaluation from the nobles. However, if Flavia became the Crown Princess and the Queen's close maid, there were many things she could enjoy.

It was not difficult to please the weak Princess who had a hard time even appearing in front of others. She was filled with the expectation that if she just waited like this, the Queen would take care of placing Flavia in the position of Princess, and then her future path would automatically take a more splendid path. For example, marriage with a child from a prestigious family.

'But what is this...'

Anne Mille also knew that defeating Franz at the same level as Krald was ridiculous. That was something that Queen Gilsis couldn't do, no matter how hard she tried.

Unless Franz suddenly dies or goes crazy, the results already made will not be overturned, and everyone doesn't want to see this happen as they think that their plans have all gone wrong.

It was obvious that just being Princess Flavia's maid would not be enough to choose the husband she wanted. The thought of it made her teeth grind in her sleep, and she wanted to shake Judith by her hair. She was indignant as if Flavia had stolen her rightful seat.

“That’s right. I heard that the reason His Majesty so suddenly designated a Crown Prince was actually because of the Crown Princess? There are a lot of rumors. Your Highness should feel more unfair.”

“I feel unfair...”

“If the Crown Princess hadn’t clouded His Majesty’s judgment, isn’t it possible that His Highness Krald could have become the Crown Prince?”

There were actually people who believed the rumor that Judith had tricked King Jedekayer into making Franz the Crown Prince. Not only did they believe it, but they also actively spread it, in general, they were people who worked for Queen Gilsis. They tried their best to somehow get the King to reverse his decision. Of course, it wasn't something that would work.

By the time Anne Mille spoke, Flavia had completed her own calculations. The exact reason is unknown, but it seems true that Anne Mille came to dislike Judith. Then it got better. She didn't have to miss this opportunity.

"That... You shouldn't say things like that so carelessly, Anne Mille. Could it be that Her Highness the Crown Princess really...? Even if you said that, what is that... It's not a bad thing, right? The problem was that I couldn't do that, well....”

No matter how dark her thoughts were, it wasn't difficult to imitate a pitiful person. Flavia lived her whole life feeling intimidated in front of others, so it wasn't that difficult.

At Flavia's words, Anne Mille was so stuffy that she put down the box she was holding in her hand with a loud bang as if she was about to die. It's definitely not an attitude you should show in front of your superiors. Flavia felt sad inside, but she did not show it.

“Anyway, that’s the problem with Your Highness! The other party doesn’t mind any means or methods, but you, too, need to think about how to survive.”

“Things to survive...?”

"Is it so. Look at this too now. What kind of errand boy is Your Highness that you can give in to the Prince's request like that? Even if it was a real errand boy, he would make such a fuss...”

Anne Mille, who had been chatting carelessly in a cocky manner, suddenly stopped. She looked at the boxes piled up on the table with her wide eyes, and suddenly her expression was filled with horrified interest.

“Your Highness,  isn’t this a big deal?”

“Big deal?”

As Flavia blinked with an innocent expression, Anne Mille hit her knee in frustration as if she was going to die.

“Could it be that the Prince of the Delacva Empire has feelings for the Crown Princess?”

"What...?”

At that moment, Flavia raised her hand and covered her mouth. Her wide-open eyes, the whites of which were clearly visible, trembled uneasily. But the tip of her lips, hidden behind her palm, twitched and rose upward.

“Well, that can’t be possible! Even as a joke... That's not what I'm saying. Do you know how dangerous those words are?”

“What’s so dangerous? There are only us. And what, did I say I was filing a complaint? It's just that it's suspicious. You also saw the two of them getting along well at a banquet, right? The Prince is a friend of His Highness Franz and not a friend of the Crown Princess.”

"That's...The Crown Princess is kind to everyone... That's because she does it. She seems to get along well with her maids and servants...”

“Is that the same as this problem? You don't know much about relationships between men and women. In my view, it is clear that the Prince has feelings for the Crown Princess He must have been entranced by the Crown Princess smiling softly, well.”

Once the gossip began to spread, it could not be stopped and the level gradually increased. That was exactly the reaction Flavia wanted, but on the other hand, she looked at Anne Mille again with cold eyes. Even though her master is sitting in front of her, doesn't she recklessly gossip about the Crown Princess?

She would have gone somewhere else and she would have cursed herself like this.

'I shouldn't trust her too much.'

Even though she was thinking this to herself, now was the time when she needed Anne Mille's cheeky and frivolous attitude. Flavia fidgeted with her fingertips, pretending to hesitate and ponder. She was making a passive gesture, clicking her tongue and saying that Queen Gilsis or Margit was always pathetic.

“I don’t think the Crown Princess would have done something like that... But...”

Flavia's words trailed off in confusion.

“But, if you think about it... There are some strange things.”

“Are you saying it’s strange?”

"That is... The other day at Astel Palace... There is that attendant. I had a brief encounter with that servant, but... Isn’t he saying to you that he knows everything about the decline of the Crown Princess?”

Anne Mille's mouth opened wide this time. She was so excited that even her earlobes were flushed.

“Is that true?”

“Well, then, really. So I scolded him and told him that I didn't mean to say things like that...”

“Look at it! I'm sure he's just wandering around with a calm face and harassing everyone. Oh my God, no matter how much it is, from beginning to end?”

“...”

“Well, the maid who came with her from Tien is also very wealthy with the Crown Princess. Is it because it’s in the countryside? I think it’s possible to become friendly with people below you without any problems, in a country called Tien.”

Flavia sighed. Of course, she was not truly lamenting.

“Anne Mile, let’s keep this to ourselves. If you go somewhere and speak carelessly, you could get in big trouble... Got it?"

“Why are we making a big deal? If it's true, the Crown Prince will be in big trouble. Isn’t that right?”

“Woah, I’m not sure. And... I, the Crown Princess, said... I don't think so. So, if anyone hears this and misunderstands...”

“Anyway, Your Highness is so naive. What's wrong with misunderstanding? The Crown Princess has never given us a single coin. Do you need to be worried?”

Anne Mille babbled loudly. Flavia grabbed one of the boxes she had lying around and covered her face to suppress her laughter.

Although the founding ceremony was over, the royal palace was still in disarray because the crowning ceremony of the Crown Prince had to be hastened. The ministers in charge of installation-related work had to stay in the palace late into the night, even if it was a long day, to make sure things were running properly, and it was not uncommon to see hired workers and even the lowest servants running around bustling about.

King Jedercayer wanted to speed up the ceremony to the extent that it seemed a bit unreasonable. There are a lot of things that need to be prepared in a short period of time, and since it is such an important task that none of it can be done in vain, it is natural for people to be so busy.

It was not only the ministers and workers who were busy, but also Franz, the person involved. The process of preparing for the investiture ceremony was complicated and difficult, so once it started, it had to be held for hours. At the same time, he had to learn little by little how to handle state affairs according to his father's orders.

“I wonder if the Crown Prince is about to collapse like that.”

Cheraan, who brought snacks to Franz at Astel Palace at Judith's order, grumbled. To her, who was free-spirited in everything she did and hated being tied down more than anything, Franz seemed to be in a similar situation to a prisoner whose limbs were tied tightly these days.

“I can’t help it. Since the time given is not long... There are a lot of things I have to do at once.”

“Yes, but... No, the Crown Princess! Let me do that!”

Cheraan, who was shaking her head as if she was tired just thinking about it, ran away in fright when she saw Judith coming out from inside the bedroom holding a vase. However, Judith carefully put it in a small box as if it was no big deal.

The maids at the Argent Palace were busy these days taking care of Judith's luggage, as the renovation work at the Nation Palace had been completed and the residence had to be moved soon. It would have been easier if they had just moved everything, but since that wasn't the case, it took more time.
