TCIWTFY - Chapter 71

The woman unwrapped the dirty bandage as if she had no choice. There was a sticky sound of blood and cloth sticking together.

The shadow relaxed its guard only after discovering a clearly horizontal scar.

It seems that the smell of blood was due to that wound.

Still, the uncomfortable feeling didn't go away, and the woman chimed in.

"You said you were the royal guard, right? My husband's older brother also works as a security guard. If it's okay, could tell him to please give me some supplies? He asked me to do some laundry. His name is Ryan Arnold-"

"I'm on official duty, so that might be difficult. Okay then."

The shadow hurriedly bit itself before its identity was revealed.

"Toward the north gate-!"

Shadows have left the streets.

Cesare came to his senses when the shadow of the Empress disguised as a guard knocked on the door.

Bang-! Bang-!

He tensed at the noise and opened his eyes.

He reflexively touched her face. The mask had not been removed and was still tied to the face.

It seems the Princess wasn't curious about his own face. His clothes and condition were just as he had lost consciousness earlier.

Cesare blinked. His vision was whitish.

What are you putting on me now?

Cesare soon realized that the faint smell of gunfire, dust, and a rough cloth was covering him like a piece of luggage.

"..."

He thought for a moment. He was raised in a noble manner all his life.

Cesare, who was born and raised as a King, never wore a trash blanket even when he was a mercenary.

A brief thought crossed his mind, wondering if it would be better to immediately kick away this blanket and find what little dignity he had left.

But then, a faint voice was heard.

"I'm sorry, but my husband isn't home right now."

He burst into laughter when he heard a voice speaking of her husband in a natural way, even though she had never held a man's hand before.

When she told other pretty that he got hurt while cutting the cloth, he was nervous because he thought she might have been attacked while he was unconscious, and when she lied and told them that her family was in the security guard to get rid of the shadow, he was impressed.

Soon the shadow left, and a faint sound of breathing, like a baby animal panting, caught his ear.

He could see how nervous she was.

As the door closed, Medea collapsed and leaned her back against the door. Her vision was blurry so she closed her eyes for a moment.

"There's nothing a Princess can't do."

Medea raised her head.

He had just woken up and was unwrapping the dirty bandages on his hands.

"I didn't know you were good at acting."

The mercenary's eyes were still pale, but there was a hint of laughter in his voice.

She came to her senses when she felt the cool touch of long, straight fingers.

Medea tried to pull her hand away but stopped because of the stinging pain.

In the meantime, Cesare took out a bottle of medicine from his pocket and poured it on the wound. Unlike when he was swinging his sword violently, his hand was surprisingly careful.

The pain went away immediately along with the angry energy.

"I am indebted to you."

The cut left on the white hand was red and deep. The smile lingering the mercenary disappeared.

He said while looking down at the wound.

"Princess, you saved me, so I will repay you at some point."

His voice was softer than ever.

The distance between Medea and the man was so close that she was able to examine his face.

Even while wearing a mask, his sharp jawline and handsome bones could not be hidden. His long, straight hands bound Medea's wounds with a clean handkerchief.

There was a deep, rich scent of wood coming from somewhere. There was also a faint refreshing feeling, like a wisp of wind blowing through a dense forest.

"How crazy will it be outside?"

Why does she remember the words of a noble lady muttering at a banquet one day?

"Wipe up the spilled blood and then speak. It's ugly."

Medea soon realized that the scent belonged to a man and swallowed a laugh.

'It's truly an annoying presence.'

Well, he's just an outsider.

"A welcome guest has arrived."

The mercenary seemed to have already anticipated the arrival of the gunmen.

The imperial assailants also only targeted mercenaries. Did he pull it in?

Since when did her country, Valdina, become a place where Katzen people run amok?

Soon, her calm green eyes looked down at him coldly.

"Then tell me what you want now. Don't bother with Valdina anymore."

It was a cold voice as if they had killed the demon beast together today and had not even harmed themselves to hide it for him.

There was a hint of displeasure on her slightly raised chin.

He answered with a smiley look in his eyes.

"Keep that in mind."

As if that was all there was to do, Medea stood up.

"See you again. Her Royal Highness."

Bang-!

The door closed without an answer.

***

The street where the gunmen disappeared was quiet.

"Your Highness!"

Medea was soon able to meet Neril.

"I saw a sign. I should have come earlier... It took a while to get out of the chaos."

Neril in the carriage took care of Medea. When she saw the wound on her hand, her face darkened in surprise.

"Is that what happened while you were dealing with the demonic beast? How was your treatment? It may leave a scar. Shall I call the palace doctor?"

"It's okay. Don't worry too much. Only the outside looks like this, but the Inside is almost completely healed."

Medea tapped Neril on the shoulder as if she was indifferent.

"I apologize, Your Highness. No matter what Your Highness says, I should have moved along from the beginning."

"I said it's okay. If that were the case, the situation would have been worse."

Because the head of Façade was waiting in the office.

"Yes?"

"No. I'll tell you more details later. By the way, what about the fire in the Count's mansion?"

"It's still going strong. The security forces and fire brigade gathered together late, paralyzing the streets near District 2. The Count's people were also almost wiped out. They either burned to death or died at the hands of assassins."

There was silence for a moment as Neril spoke.

"But your Highness. You don't look good. Isn't the Prince Regent's name in the certificate of acceptance?"

"No, look. It's right here at the top. Below that, everything, including the names of Samon and his limbs."

Medea took out a scroll from her bosom.

"If this is the case, we can overthrow the Duke. Keep it safe."

There was a separate time when this decision was used decisively.

When the rebel army crosses the capital, this will be revealed to the world and expose the Prince Regent's ambitions.

"Yes, Your Highness."

Neril took the certificate and looked at her Master's face once again.

Tonight, despite the enormous variables of a fire at the Count's residence and a mysterious intruder, the Princess definitely got what she wanted.

But the Princess's expression was full of worry.

"Do you remember the assassins with white strings who came into the Count's mansion?"

"Yes, Your Highness. Even to me, using a sword didn't seem unusual."

"I saw it. He was using the imperial sword."

They tried to kill the head of Façade.

"The humble forces in Valdina cannot be compared to the empire, so the loaches are arbitrarily installing them as if they were their own. Peleus must return here as soon as possible."

Medea sighed, rubbing her temples.

When he looked up out the carriage window, the sun was rising in the early morning.

There must be Peleus somewhere under that sky.

"I need to find a way to help Peleus and end the war quickly."

***

Duke Claudio.

The Prince Regent, who heard the news late, slapped Samon hard on the cheek.

"Do you know what the hell you did?"

Clink!

The teacup thrown by the Prince Regent shattered.

"I told you not to act carelessly! Didn't you say you were only going to burn down the mansion?"

"I am the one who accepted the execution of my grandmother anyway. If that disgusting man hadn't used his servants as playthings to steal away, it wouldn't have been such a big deal! Father, don't you even remember what he did to my siblings and me at that big banquet?"

Samon revealed his true feelings.

"But you shouldn't have been so cruel! How do you think the rest of the people will talk about your father now? Did you never expect that they would think of you as an unscrupulous person who killed all of the alliance's relatives?"

Was Simon a child who could only see one inch ahead?

The Prince Regent touched his throbbing head.
