DTS - Chapter 29

Are you really taking me to Colin?

Dorothea was even prepared to find it herself if she ended up in the wrong place.

Dorothea blinked at the unexpected luck.

“Colin Highclere? Wasn’t he the one who brought this child?”

“I’m not sure, but the 7th Prince was involved. It's not that he wanted to bring the child, he had no choice but to bring it. That person belongs to us.”

“Well, I said he was the one who recommended you to the mansion.”

Ah, Colin.

There was a reason why he tried so hard to kill young Dorothea.

They probably thought that if they pushed the girl who would replace Dorothea into the mansion and killed her, there would be nothing to worry about anymore.

The man who came to kill her after making all the preparations was once again 'annihilated from existence'.

Is this some kind of trick of fate?

It was his niece who was dying anyway. If he had just been left alone, he wouldn't have ended up like that.

It couldn't have been more fun.

The fake adoptive daughter who brought Dorothea here asked with a smile.

“We should be as invisible as possible.”

“Don’t worry. Because I bought a new carriage instead of renting it on purpose. When we're done, I’ll destroy it and burn it.”

The fake adoptive daughter who brought Dorothea here hummed as if she was in a good mood.

Then she glanced at Dorothea, who was sitting quietly watching the situation and laughed.

“I thought you were going to cry because you were scared, but it looks like you don’t even understand the situation yet.”

“Anyway, I never thought there would be a rumor that it was related to demons, if nothing else. I’m a kid who doesn’t know anything. Do I have to do this?”

“At best, you are a child who got the position I should have worked hard to get just because of blood ties. You are also the child of a mother who insulted the family by running away at night. Am I doing too much?”

The coachman closed his mouth at the words she snorted.

As the carriage started heading towards Colin's mansion again, Dorothea sat quietly and began to look out the window.

“Hey, girl. Shall I show you something fun?”

Was she bored, or did she want to show off to her?

The fake adoptive daughter smiled until her eyes became half-moon and held out her hand.

Dorothea, who was wondering what else she was going to do, adjusted her posture and sat down when she saw the 'energy' that had begun to flow faintly in her hand.

Although it was very faint, it was definitely spiritual energy.

Unlike Dorothea's energy, it is cloudy and unable to find a proper route, so it is only a very faint and subtle flow.

Suddenly, something jumped out of the blue light that enveloped her hand.

A fishy smell began to vibrate inside the carriage.

"Water...”

At the sound of muttering, the fake adoptive daughter looked at Dorothea curiously.

She stretched out her chest, raised her head proudly, and opened her mouth.

"That's right. Water. I am a water spiritist.”

“...”

“That water spiritist who is rare in the empire.”

What vaguely appeared to be a 'spirit body' took on the shape of a small fish.

It wasn't a great talent, but it was interesting.

'Is it possible for even a small fish to become a mainstay here?'

She thought it had to be either a human being or a God in charge of human life in order to have at least an impact beyond the past life and into the present life.

'You seem to have talent.'

Unexpectedly, it seemed that the fake was born with soul power.

In comparison, the body that accepts soul power is murky and stuffy, so it seems like the only way to do it is to worship something like a fish as a God.

Well, anyway.

It was appetizing to see a materialized being with soul power in front of her for the first time in a long time.

"Looks delicious."

Dorothea smiled brightly and spoke about her feelings after seeing the water spirit.

The fake face distorted in an instant.

“How can you say such a thing after seeing a spirit that only a select few people in the empire can summon?”

Is it even possible to say that she is the chosen one just by summoning that thing?

Even the size of the fish was small.

To put it bluntly, it looked even smaller and more insignificant than the goldfish that lived in the pond behind the shrine where Dorothea stayed. Not to mention the soul power she possesses.

"Cute."

Dorothea praised her in her own way, but the fake one glared at Dorothea with a face that looked like it had been slapped.

When she raised her hand while grinding her teeth, the 'fish' that was playing in the air quickly escaped the carriage.

From the fishy smell coming from all directions, Dorothea could tell that this fish had something similar to a barrier around it.

“Get down now.”

It's probably just a small prank that hides one's appearance or presence.

A cruel hand grabbed her arm and pushed her out of the carriage.

Dorothea was helplessly pushed away and left at the main gate of a gloomy-looking mansion.

Dorothea blinked as she left the carriage moving away quickly.

As if it had been discussed beforehand, the expressionless guard opened the door and let her into the mansion.

***

“Come on, Lady. I was waiting.”

The woman's eyes were twinkling as she smiled from ear to ear.

She heard it was Colin's mansion, but Ilshe couldn't tell where Colin, the owner of the mansion, was, and strangely enough, a woman she had never seen before was dragging Dorothea.

A heavy body waddled through the hallway.

“The owner of the mansion is very upset because of you.”

“...”

“He must have been suffering from pain since the day he handed the Lady over to the Marquis!”

That doesn't really have anything to do with me.

Colin is just going through the process of transforming from a reaper to a human in order to live a 'human life'.

As a human being, the process of mixing the vitality inside the body and the soul power of the reaper soul without clashing is difficult and painful.

“Now that you are here, everything will fall into place.”

Dorothea could even feel the joy in the woman’s voice.

Every time she passed through the hallway, she saw pale-faced maids, maids, servants, and workers bowing their heads in greeting.

Colin said he was married.

So is this woman his wife?

'She deserves to be locked in her room.'

It's difficult to judge people based on their appearance, but she thinks it would be devastating to find out that a woman like this was his wife as soon as he became human.

Dorothea, who was being dragged, suddenly lost strength in her legs and sat down.

It was the result of being dragged around unreasonably.

The woman's face was distorted as she looked down at the child being dragged helplessly on the floor.

“This thing that fell off!”

The tone of the speech was so undignified that it would be hard to imagine that it was addressed to the descendant of a Marquis.

A hand the size of a pot lid, with a thick ring shining on it, was raised high.

"Dor a moment."

At that moment, the woman stopped at the sound of someone's faint voice.

Standing in front of Dorothea was a pale, slender woman with a complexion that looked as if she might collapse at any moment.

The eyes of the woman wearing the shawl widened as if she recognized Dorothea.

Before she could open her mouth, the fat woman standing next to Dorothea let out a tickling voice.

“Madam, how did you come here? It would be best if you stayed in your room.”

“There was a commotion outside, so I came out to see what was going on. Who is that child?”

A woman with a calm voice asked, looking at Dorothea.

It was obvious that she recognized the person, but she seemed to understand the situation to some extent when she asked 'Who is it?'

A green bruise was visible at a glance beyond the shawl covering the shoulders of the woman called Madam.

“She is a distant relative of the Master. She was in training.”

The ‘wife’, who was staring at the woman who was naturally lying, asked Dorothea.

"What is your name?"

"Ma'am!"

She shouted so loudly that the woman flinched. Fear appeared on her bloodless face.

“You’d better go back to your room.”

"But...”

“If you’re running around as you please, Colin is going to get scolded again.”

“...”

“The wounds from last time probably haven’t even healed yet. Now is not the time for you to worry about others.”

The hand holding the shawl wrapped around her shoulder was tense.

Dorothea observed the woman for a moment and then stood up, pretending not to notice.

“I want to go to my uncle.”

"No...!”

The Madam tried desperately to block the way, but it was only for a moment that the woman holding Dorothea's hand violently pushed her away, causing her to fall down helplessly.

Helplessness appeared on the face of the woman sitting on the floor.

The two people who pretended not to notice her stopped in front of a tightly closed door.

The woman who dragged Dorothea here smiled brightly.

“This is where your uncle is.”

"I see."

“Miss, you should hurry up and meet your uncle, right?”

With a tingling voice, she pushed Dorothea's back as hard as she could.

As soon as she was pushed through the open door, the door closed with a heavy sound.

“No matter what you hear, no one should go in. Even if Madam comes, you must not let her in.”

A voice calling for attention was heard from outside.

Dorothea, who was close to the door, slowly opened her closed eyes and exhaled.

The stale air in the room was suffocating her.

“It’s a mess. Really."

A look of pain was evident on Colin's face as he lay on the bed and groaned.

Colin opened his eyes weakly and sighed when he saw Dorothea.

“You're a reaper in name, but you can’t even fuse properly, so what should I do?”

“It’s because you trapped me in this body. It is difficult for this person’s body, which has become cloudy due to too much-accumulated karma, to mix with my soul.”

Dorothea reached out her hand and placed it on his forehead at the words spoken in a weak voice.

The distorted face straightened just a little.

“So that’s why you didn’t go out? Well, if you go out like this, you're ready to devour everyone else in the mansion.”

Dorothea could already feel it at the front door, but the dirty air leaking from the room was affecting the entire mansion.

Those exposed to this polluted energy would become more angry, gloomy, cunning, and lifeless than usual.

“Well, don’t worry. This is how I came.”

Dorothea hopped onto the bed and looked down at Colin.

A look of disbelief appeared in Colin's eyes as she spoke with a bright smile, her hands on her hips.

“What are you going to do?”

“I’ll give you a good welcome.”

“...What is that?”

“A technique to make your body more receptive to your soul.”

He looked up at Dorothea with a reluctant face.

Having already experienced this, she knew full well that this little child had an unusual talent.

But he didn't think she had the temperament to step up for him so obediently.

“Oh, of course. While I'm at it, I'm also getting some of your soul power. I found something interesting. I want to try it, but it’s still too much for this body alone.”

Colin looked up at her smiling brightly and frowned, saying, “That’s right.”

Dorothea shrugged her shoulders after seeing his distorted face, perhaps because of a headache or because he did not want to share his soul power.

“I guess there’s no other way for you anyway?”

Phi Phi, the squirrel that jumped out of her arms, scurried down her shoulder, took out a few acorns he had saved, and offered them to the girl's hand.

Colin looked at the spirit in amazement as he fawned over a Master other than himself, but the spirit pretended not to notice his previous Master and when he finished his work, he snuggled back into Dorothea's arms.

“Now, here’s the table for you.”

The sound that Dorothea uttered in a clear voice as she scattered acorns filled the large room.

What was the path for heavenly Sunwol's to come?

Cutting down a path with lush vegetation with Eonwoldo Road

As you sweep from east to west, you can see a sharp stump.

Step on the uneven ground with your feet and remove large and small stones with a pickaxe.

Level the bumpy road with rice cake and build a dew bridge.

Put a butterfly bridge on the crispy strip, a daylight bridge, and a moonlight bridge.

Cut off your ears that are not straight, fill the holes with rice, and build bridges.

Every time the girl spun around, an inaudible bell sound rang out brightly.

The dust that filled the room began to clear little by little.
