"Violet! Are you sick?"
He doesn't have the strength to answer, but the number of people keeps increasing. When Winter still didn't answer, she put her hand to his forehead and said in surprise, just as Pim had done with Lina.
"Do you have a fever?"
He was the one who jumped, but he didn't know why his wife had the fever. Even so, Winter had been feeling the heat rising through her body from the moment he opened his eyes.
Winter thought about telling her to get off right away, but then lied down again, thinking that that wouldn't be possible for Violet. The woman then freaked out and left the bedroom.
He thought that was enough, but soon it was crowded and people were gathering.
"Is Violet sick?"
"Oh, just looking at her, she's a weakling, so it's a miracle she's finally getting sick."
"It must be so painful for that kind person to not even be able to answer."
Winter just pretended to sleep. He couldn't figure out how on earth Violet was living so the whole village showed up.
People sat down next to her probably thinking she was asleep, and started talking among themselves.
"She says she has that much debt. She's always so busy that I get sick."
"I brought her some soup here. Is this okay? Do you think it's not enough?"
"Oh my, I brought it too!"
"You just have to feed it a lot. This is all because my kids always come and bother her."
"Why aren't our kids here to play? The wooden boards in front of me were all broken."
After earning more money, Winter started living high and deep. After being away from the noise for a while, the noise coming from all around him became extremely annoying.
Anyway, the blanket seems to be getting thicker. Is it because of his mood?
Winter frowned and everyone left the bedroom one by one, probably because they realized they were making too much noise.
After making sure everyone had left, Winter opened his eyes and cursed at the blankets placed on top of him.
"Are you planning to crush me to death with a blanket?"
Still, he felt like he had frostbite from putting an ice pack on his forehead.
There were various types of soup and bread on the table.
The entire neighborhood seemed to know that Violet loved flowers, so the top and floor of her bed were filled with flower petals.
"The whole village is crazy."
As soon as Winter was there, he frowned and stood up. Anger triumphed over depression. He looked down at his bowl of soup and lost his temper.
"If trespassing isn't enough, are you feeding me food I don't even know what it is? What are the kids doing? Besides, where do you pull up weeds like this again? This is the trash can, the bottom of the market!"
Winter screamed without realizing it. He spent a year suffering from a nervous attitude caused by depression. It's been a long time since he lost my temper like this.
Just before he was about to overturn everything, he realized that there was no trace of either the man or the child. Looking at each item, it seems that no one lives with Violet. In the meantime, he was somewhat satisfied with it and didn't turn it over.
Winter got tired of Violet's weak body and quickly sat down in an armchair. There was a bookshelf within his reach. He could see the neighbors and neighborhood kids out the window.
"A retired old man or something."
Winter muttered as if he didn't understand at all. He lay down completely on the chair, afraid that the children who were leaving would come running in.
They even made eye contact. Then Violet's face appeared in the front mirror. Winter got up and walked to the mirror as if she were possessed.
Then he reached out to the mirror and touched his face. His eyes looked much more relaxed.
"You should know how lucky I am to be pretty."
As he walked around grumbling, he felt chills. As he looked at the kitchen while wearing a blanket left behind by a villager, it didn't seem like Violet enjoyed cooking very much. Then he got hungry, so he dipped the bread that people left behind into the soup and ate it. It looked bland and tasted bland too. Still, he went in quickly, perhaps because he was hungry.
No matter how good the food he ate, the meals he ate as a child with poor ingredients still tasted bad. Every time that happened, Winter felt disgusted with his very existence.
Winter ate my meal and looked around the house. Although the house was not large. It felt clean as there were almost no items outside. It was surprising how well things were organized in just one year. However, as soon as he opened the dresser without any will, the reality was revealed.
"It's not that she's good at organizing, it's that I have nothing to organize. It's the same, it's the same."
As he looked around Violet's empty house, he was completely exhausted. Winter muttered as he crawled under the thick blanket.
"I never thought my body would change."
If Violet finds out, she might blame him and ask if he died around here. The reason he couldn't die even if she left was because he was afraid she would feel guilty that he died because she left.
The fact that Violet considered herself unhappy quickly spread throughout his body like poison. How could it be this terrible to not be able to die after that?
Violet came to him in that state, in the same state of mind that he is in now, and said that she had thought about dying.
"...I'm sorry."
She told him not to be harsh with her. He'll tell himself not to be so harsh right now. He felt like his body would just break apart. It drove him crazy to think that he had done that to his wife.
Moreover, once she believed that she had a child, he decided to live happily in that situation. For his wife, the child may have felt like the only open door. The only thing she can't give him.
Winter was completely exhausted and was lying in bed, just watching the sun move and the changes in the sunlight coming through the window.
He just stayed there until the sun went down. He didn't have the strength to lift a linger.
How long has he been lying down? He heard the door opening.
It was Violet who entered her house. She slowly walked towards Winter, who was getting up from the bed.
"Sick? It'll be okay."
"It hurts."
Violet leaned down and placed her hand on his forehead. Before he could even feel the heat, their bodies switched again, and Violet's warm slight heat was transferred to Winter's hands.
"It hurts, you..."
"Not at all."
"How do you know? It was my body just a moment ago."
Winter scoffed as if he was shocked. Violet asked, getting off the bed.
"What happened? Why did your body change? What do you mean by lying under the castle wall?"
"It's been a while since I last saw you, but you didn't even say hello."
"This is more urgent. Let me explain first."
Winter thought it was fascinating. The look in her eyes, when he was fully himself with her, was much more intense than the look in her eyes that he had just seen in the mirror. It seemed as if she had captured the starlight pouring down from the night sky.
For the past year, he haven't felt anything, but the moment he meet Violet, even this slight fever starts to bother him, he see her forehead wrinkled with a mixture of worry and anger, and everything in the world changes as if the earth shakes with each word.
Everything was intense.
Was it you that I found so far? Wasn't it about money?
The thought that he should disappear from this world if he were her hell dominated his mind. He had to find a way somehow. Winter slightly stretched the corners of his mouth.
"I went to the place where the Kanik clan is and found an herb that can change one's body."
"Yes?"
"I tried It as a test and it changed right away. I didn't expect it to change so quickly."
"Is that so?"
"Why? Did you think I was going to die? Leaving this much behind?"
Violet believed what Winter was saving, but like a child who accelerates and can't easily stop running, the corners of her eyes are getting wet because she can't calm down her intense emotions. Fearing that she might cry, Winter scrunched up his expression and spoke grumpily.
"I'm weak like you and I don't fall and die. I who had so much to begin with died because I lacked something."
"Hayel said you are expanding your business unreasonably... I'm surprised. I thought the company was in real trouble."
"It won't be a big problem. I wonder If Anjali dies suddenly."
"She handed in her resignation? That's why I'm late,"
Winter couldn't help but be genuinely surprised by those words. He was really going to be in big trouble.
Anjali knew that since the family had a lot of debt, they would not quit no matter how much they had to pay. When Winter cursed without realizing it. Violet looked at him.
"You even said you grabbed her by the collar?
"That kid is nagging."
"But there is no need to use violence."
"Yes."
Winter was displeased but answered without thinking.
Feeling embarrassed that he had become weak in front of his wife, Winter asked, rubbing the back of his neck for no reason.
"How have you been?"
"It's hard, but it's fun."
"What's fun about a house as small as the palm of your hand?"
Winter sighed and walked over like he was home and sat down in front of the table.
"Give me something cold. Hot."
"It's not hot yet."
"The village people thought you were sick, so they brought all the blankets. I feel hot."
Violet looked back at the bed and sighed softly. She was worried about giving it all back. Reluctantly, she poured cold water into the previously brewed tea and held it out to him.
"Drink and go."
"If you try so hard to let it go, it won't go any further. If it's unfair, you shouldn't have revealed your location."
"Did you know that your body would change?"
At her rebuke, Winter shook his shoulders, laughed, and took a sip of the cold tea.
He moved his neck and took a sip of the refreshing tea, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.
And as he looked at Violet, he smiled until his eyes wrinkled, and although he still had the characteristic twist, he felt calmer than before.
While she was wondering what kind of expression she should make towards the person she met after so long, the neighborhood children came into Violet's house, crying.
"Violet! Are you all better?"
"Don't die, Violet..."
The children who were talking with tears in their eyes stopped and looked at Winter with wide eyes.
Winter's physique, which was intimidating even to adults, looked almost wooden to children.
"Big...."
"It's so big.
As the children stared blankly, Winter clicked his tongue and spoke.
"Go to your house and play."
Then the children were so startled that they hid behind Violet. Violet asked with a frown.
"Why are you scaring the children?"
"When did I scare them? They got scared on their own. Is this a playground? Why do other people's children come and go as they please?"
"It's not your house, so don't interfere."
"Ah, it will come out like this."
Winter said, slamming his empty glass down on the table.
"We are still a couple. I have the right to interfere."
As the children tilted their heads as if that couldn't be possible, Winter continued..
"Violet and I have been married for a long time."
The children's eyes widened at those words. Then she looked at Violet with a shocked look on her face.
"Bah, Violet. is this true?"
"Did you really marry that scary man? Why did you do that?"
When the children asked with shocked faces, Winter answered instead.
"I'm really married, and we need to talk, so get out."
The children cowered in fear and ran away. Then Violet sighed.
"You made a mistake."
"What?"
"How small is this neighborhood.."
Winter narrowed his eyes at Violet's words. Then the two looked towards the door when they heard the sound of a large number of people coming.
As the children ran, all the nearby villagers were coming.
"Violet, it's true that your husband is here? Oh my goodness!"
Violet's husband, who lived an unusually shabby life in the village, was clearly brimming with love. He wore a stylish suit made of high-quality fabric cut according to the latest trends, shiny new shoes, and, incidentally, she was so incredibly handsome that it was hard to get anyone to talk to her about it. People Froze and looked towards Violet as she pushed their backs and said.
"No need to worry. This person will never come again."
