THYU - Chapter 28

Violet quietly looked at Winter who was fiddling with the watch she gave him.

It seemed like he really liked the gift. The words that he didn't have to give back because he earned it, and that he wasn't a person who waited and didn't have to wait, kept ringing in Violet's ears.

The man who seemed to have nothing to fear in the world seemed empty when he said those words. Violet opened her mouth.

"I'm tired."

"It's time for you."

Violet thought for a moment and spoke in a somewhat business-like voice.

"It's been two days since the annexation date, but I think it's okay up to today."

"It's simple, my Princess."

Whether Winter was sarcastic or not, Violet continued.

"Of course, I know you hate children and sleeping together, but in our relationship as a couple..."

"Wait for a second."

Winter narrowed his brows.

"Even if I said it myself that I didn't like the child. Why do you think I hate sleeping with you?"

"You said you were dissatisfied last time. I always feel like you're avoiding it."

Violet tried to speak calmly as usual, but her expression could not be hidden because she was deeply hurt. She did what she said.

"I understand. Because the situation was... You probably didn't like it."

After finally speaking, her heart ached. The shame was greater than she expected.

As she was straining her neatly folded hands to hold back her sorrow, Winter opened his mouth.

"What am I listening to now?"

Even though she was the one who was rejected, Winter's voice sounded as if he was appalled. When Violet raised her head and made eye contact, his expression was like that. Winter continued.

"The overwhelming number one desire I have is indeed material lust, but that doesn't mean I don't have sexual desire. I said I didn't like your pious family's ways. When did I say I didn't like sleeping with you?"

"Isn't it the same thing?"

"When it comes to a topic that keeps you stuck, both families go so far as to confirm it. It's not like some kind of breeding animal."

How could he say such a rude thing?

Violet's eyes were wide in surprise, but she couldn't actually say it out of fear that people would say she was acting like a Princess again.

Winter sighed heavily as if everyone eIse knew his pain.

"Listen and don't misunderstand."

"As long as you don't misunderstand."

"If it weren't for that fucking way. I would beat you until you fuck off."

At his words, Violet covered her mouth with both hands and looked at him with slightly wary eyes.

"Which part causes misunderstanding? I'm afraid you might mistake me for a crazy sexual desire that cannot be tolerated. If that was a misunderstanding, I already did it."

"I mean, you're sorely mistaken."

"You mean you don't hate it?"

"That's right."

"We can negotiate little by little, but it is still difficult to suddenly make big changes."

"Can I kiss you?"

"Yes. You can do it like last time."

Winter looked distressed, but as if that was enough, he lifted Violet up, picked her up, and headed to the bed. He laid his wife down on the bed and lowered his head to undo the ribbon at the neck of her nightgown with his teeth. Then Violet spoke seriously.

"Oh, you can do this by hand."

"You're usually so smart, but why do you only act like this in bed? Are you just pretending not to know?"

Winter had an expression that didn't know whether to laugh or be distressed. Violet tilted her head, wondering why he had that expression.

***

It was a day of annexation that was not much different from before. The couple made as much noise as possible so that no sound could be heard from the bed.

However, Winter had a night that was several times more painful than usual.

It was better than usual. When they kissed and then parted, Violet made a strange expression that Winter had never seen before, and at that moment, it felt like his reason was being torn apart like a thin piece of paper. Moreover, he could hear the damn bell ringing whenever he got the chance, and he was in awe of not being able to swear with his wife right in front of him.

Winter fell asleep only after cooling his body with cold water three or four times with his wife by his side. Still, he woke up early in the morning and looked at Violet's face in the morning.

Then he suddenly looked towards the terrace and saw Hayel through the curtain. It seemed like he noticed that Violet didn't come out of the bedroom last night, so he went there instead.

When Winter also went out to the terrace, Hayel handed him a cup of coffee. Winter took a swig of coffee to fight off fatigue and then opened his mouth.

"I was thinking about it yesterday. The only people I've known so far are the mixed-race people in Larkround."

"I did."

"Research the place where the Kanik clan originally lived. I'm sure there's some information there too."

"You're not going to ask me to go across the continent and visit the Alika region, right? I also have a wife..."

"There is none."

"I'm asking you to give me time to make it. What should I do if I buy a nice house? I don't have time to move in."

"I give you enough money to buy a nice house."

Winter was scolded.

"Then send someone to find out."

"All right."

Hayel was relieved to hear that he did not have to go in person.

After Hayel left after giving him a few brief reports, Violet opened the glass door in the bedroom and walked out.

"Did you sleep well, Winter?"

"I couldn't sleep at all."

"I slept deeply."

"This isn't right either."

Winter grumbled, but he no longer hated sleeping like this anymore. He doesn't think he'll find any good information if he looks into it further, but he wants to somehow eliminate any excuse for Violet to leave him. If she wanted a child, he wanted to create one and give it to her.

Violet sat down on a chair because she had trouble standing. Winter asked.

"While you're sitting down, please take a look at what I'm going to wear to the Cantus Monastery."

"That's a good idea."

After a while, a servant brought Winter clothes to wear that day. He asked as
Violet looked back and forth between the invitation and his clothes.

"Do you have a white bowtie?"

"There is no white. Why?"

"The invitation said to come dressed in basic formal clothes. We need a white bow tie."

"Can't it be a different color?"

"The basic formality in Lackround is a white shirt and white bowtie for men. It almost went wrong from the start.

Violet continued.

"Are you going to make the handkerchief blue?"

"Anything. Is there a set color for that too?"

"That's not true, but I think the color preferred by the Blooming family would be better."

"There's everything about your favorite color."

Violet looked embarrassed at Winter's annoyed muttering. Then Winter narrowed his eyes,

"Don't make that face. I didn't have a chance to learn."

She wasn't surprised because she thought it was pathetic that Winter didn't know that.

She was surprised by the fact that the Bloomings did not tell him what they should have told him.

Even though people in the capital tend to be particularly extravagant, people in Lackround consider it shameful to show off something openly. However, there was a contradiction in that preferred gemstones and colors implicitly revealed a sense of superiority and clique."

Violet said.

"I already bought a handkerchief. I bought it well in advance."

Violet took the box that contained the watch and took out the dark gray handkerchief that had been placed underneath it.

"The Lawrence family prefers dark gray."

"Can I?"

"It's okay because you're my husband. It won't work if you don't like it."

"I am a person who gave up all my wealth to buy a title. If I can use the same colors as royalty, I'd be grateful. Anyway, what did you buy so much?"

"There are two things, a watch and a handkerchief. And I don't think it's any of your business how many I bought."

Winter nodded in agreement to her words.

"Just looking at this, I'm so glad I decided to change my body."

"While changing our body... Can you change it a day earlier and come to the tea party?"

No matter how much Winter withdrew from the party, there was a tea party hosted by Catherine for lunch this Saturday. The next day was the Cantus Monastery's support party.

Winter thought for a moment. Last time, Violet said that when he went to the tea party, he would find out why she wore a black dress.

"It's going to be a big disaster."

"It's okay."

"Instead, make a big profit from Cantus Monastery."

"I'll do my best."

Violet answered calmly, but inside she felt complicated.

She wondered if he would understand the hard time she had at the tea party. What would he think if be found out?

While thinking about many things, Viilet put the handkerchief folded into a rectangle in his jacket pocket.

"Now, this is a basic formality."

"Damn it, why is this damn noble thing so complicated?"

"It's probably because people with wealth like you threaten authority."

"What?"

Winter's expression wrinkled. Violet continued quietly.

"During our parents' generation, the title was everything about power. But more and more money becomes more powerful than titles. It is increasingly difficult to prevent people with money but no title from joining the upper class... It creates nobility."

After speaking, Violet looked at Winter's expression and saw that he was dazed for a moment and pretended to fan himself with his hand.

"Oh my, what a noble thing to do. Be rude."

Violet let out a small laugh at his joke.

***

Saturday morning, after getting ready for the tea party, Violet opened a drawer and took out a small vial.

It contained a deadly venom extracted from the southern clover she found while tending the garden. She learned that if she took this amount, she would die within a few minutes.

Violet said to herself as she stared at the vial.

"...It's a little scary."

At first glance, she remembered Winter joking around next to her.

Violet has missed him for the past three years. She missed him because she was waiting for him who was far away, and even though he was close, she missed him because she could not reach him.

Then, at some point, her feelings for him were completely resolved, and she thought there was nothing left as if everything had been swept away by a storm. But the man made her feel a little afraid of this action.

Violet sat on the bed, opened the bottle of medicine, took a gulp, and then lay down on the bed.

"If I die like this, will he come to the funeral?"

Even on the day she first died, Violet was most curious about that. Will her husband come to the funeral?

Perhaps she still missed him.

Violet went into a dark state as if she was falling asleep, and when she opened her eyes, she was in a carriage.

Hayel was sitting opposite her.

"CEO, what's wrong?"

"It's okay. Where are we going now?"

"Oh, first of all. We're going to the tea party that Madame is hosting. I think it will take about two hours now, Little Ma'am."

Hayel immediately recognized the question of where she was going and her soft tone and answered.

Violet looked out the window.

Suddenly, she was worried that if they got offended by that fiery personality, they might overturn the table.
