TCIWTFY - Chapter 10

"Your Highness, did you know? Will the head maid move like this?"

Medea, who had been standing at the window and looking down at the garden

"Yes."

Simple answer. However, the implied meaning was not like that.

She remembered what the Princess said while coaxing the maids.

"This was a cheap way to lend a hand."

She never imagined that the hand belonged to the head maid.

She never thought she would even clean up all of the Princess's maids without any pressure.

Already then, from then on...

Neril looked at her blankly.

"The owners of the kicked-out maids will be wary of the Prince Regent. If they find out what their subordinate did, I will hold him back."

Neril then nodded.

"Who does my uncle blame? Competitors? Or the head maid? First of all, it won't be me."

Medea is probably just a pitiful victim here.

"Your Highness, are you planning on fighting amongst yourself?"

Instead of answering, a smile appeared on her lips.

"Her Highness I knew... I don't think so."

The original Medea was a person whose purity as a person stood out more than her dignity as a Princess.

"That's right. The Medea you knew is no longer there."

The Princess calmly agreed.

"I came to this realization after going to the hospital once. You can't be foolish forever."

Medea looked at Neril.

The green eyes were looking at her, but somehow they seemed to be looking somewhere else.

It was solemn, as if she was wading through a deeper darker abyss.

"What about you, Neril? You don't like this kind of owner?"

There was no shaking in the eyes.

Whether Neril accepts the change or not. It seems like nothing will change.

'It's just like the first time I saw His Highness the late King.'

Neril got down on one knee.

She understood what the Princess said about how she can't be foolish forever.

If she's to survive this battle on her own with her small feet, change will be essential.

"No matter what your Highness looks like, I will be by your side."

The corners of the Princess's mouth slightly rose.

"Thank goodness."

A cold face with no expression. Calm voice.

It didn't have any of the features she knew, but Neril thought Medea looked more like Valdina's bloodline than ever before.

She hesitated for a moment and then brought up her remaining concerns.

"... It would be nice if the head maid realized her mistake and took responsibility for it, but I don't think that would happen. If you try to use a move that doesn't work..."

"It's okay."

Medea tapped Neril on the shoulder.

"If you know the opponent's temperament and record, you can predict it. I wonder what she will think and what she will do."

The head maid and her uncle had all experienced enough in her previous lives. They were under Medea's prediction.

What makes her stop is that it is something unknown that has never been experienced before.

For example...

Clink!

The teacup fell over with a sharp cracking sound.

Marieu, who turned pale, hurriedly poured tea into a new teacup.

"Your Highness. I just..."

She had just brought her own tea to promote her relationship with the Princess.

She has to win the Princess's heart back before the new maids catch her eye.

Not long ago, Marieu saw people from the maid's office kidnapping all the maids from the Princess's palace.

If she hadn't been quick to hide herself, she would have been dragged away like a dog along with them.

Marieu worked hard to calm her anxiety and win over the Princess.

Because she knows inside out what makes a Princess who is hungry for affection weak and moves her.

Moreover, when she came, the Princess told Neril to go out for a while and sent her away.

Although Medea has been cold to her recently, it was clearly a sign that she was tired of that bitch's crudeness and was trying to keep Marieu around again.

Steam rose from the inside of the teacup she put down.

"It's berry tea. You said I should boil it for you."

Marieu sat next to her and held out a teacup.

Medea looked down at the teacup without thinking and stiffened.

Dark navy blue water. It was so dark that she couldn't even tell the bottom. As if Marieu had dropped three or four drops of the poison she drank before she died.

For a moment, Medea felt dizzy. For a moment, blood appeared on the back of her hand as it touched the edge of the table.

"I have no thoughts right now. I'll pick it up later."

Marieu became anxious when Medea, contrary to expectations, refused to accept the teacup.

Why? Is the Princess still angry? Isn't it all resolved now?

"The temperature is just right. You prefer a slightly cooled, lukewarm temperature rather than something too hot. Do you want me to feed you?"

"Later."

"Ah, Your Highness, please. These are berries that I went out early in the morning and picked until my knees were wet. Even if you look at my sincerity."

She held out a teacup without any hesitation.

"But try at least one sip."

The sight of her trying to bring the teacup to Medea's mouth was somewhat outrageous.

Dark tea water swirled before Medea's eyes.

"Hurry and drink it! What can I do without swelling?"

Medea felt like she was being strangled. Her vision became dark.

"I said it was done!"

She downed the glass without another thought.

Clink.

The teacup that Medea struck flew away and broke.

The air became cold.

"How many times do I have to tell you?"

"I, Your Highness. I just..."

"It seems like you can't even hear me."

"Please forgive me, Your Highness. I made a mistake."

The quick-witted maids grabbed Marieu's complaining arm and led her away.

"Your Highness! Please forgive me. Please stop hating this poor Marieu. All I have is Your Highness!"

Bang!

The door was closed.

“Ha.”

Only after she was sure that she was completely alone did Medea exhale.

A white hand fumbled and touched her neck.

"..."

Medea looked down at the tea in the teacup.

Dark-colored water.

There was still a feeling of rejection that made her feel like she was suffocating.

Medea stretched out her hand.

Instead of picking up the tea, she picked up the clear glass of water next to her.

It was okay. From touching the lips to passing down the esophagus, there was no problem.

"Isn't it okay to just have color?"

A trace left by her miserable death in a previous life poured with poison.

The aftereffects seem to be limited to dark-colored liquids.

"It's okay. It doesn't matter as long as you don't get caught."

Medea muttered quietly in the pale silence.

"Your Highness, are you okay?"

Neril came running after hearing Marieu's scream and looked at Medea.

A room littered with broken teacups.

Neril frowned as she looked at the spot where Marieu was taken.

"What does that girl believe and go out like that? Unless Your Highness..."

She smoothed the sheath of the sword hanging at her waist,

"Wait and see. The maids have all changed, so I have no one to vent my anger to, and since they treat me coldly, I will explode sooner or later. The time will come soon, so we can deal with it completely then."

Medea tapped Neril on the shoulder.

“Take care of Marieu.”

"Yes, Your Highness."

***

It was a deep night when all the lights in the Queen's Palace were turned off. Marieu sneaked out of the palace.

“Samon!”

Under the dim lamplight, she saw her lover pacing nervously.

Marieu jumped into his arms.

She buried her face and rubbed her cheeks as if relieving all the longing and sadness she had been feeling.

"Shh."

Samon Claudio.

He was the eldest son and only heir of the Prince Regent.

He quickly grabbed Marieu's arm and dragged her inside.

“Marieu.”

The only light illuminating the room was the faint moonlight coming through the small window in the wall.

A shadow fell over the man's face.

Slim stature. Gray-brown hair. Beautiful features.

Samon was quite handsome among the young nobles of Valdina.

However, if you look closely, the thin lips look somewhat cunning. The two eyes, shiny black in the dark, had a small-mindedness about them, like those of a mouse.

But to Marieu, he was the most handsome man in the world.

"Samon, I missed you so much."

Marieu spread her arms as hard as she could, but she couldn't feel her lover's arms wrapping around her waist as strongly as usual.

"What on earth happened?"

A lover she hadn't seen in a long time gave her an impatient first greeting. Marieu's smile stiffened.

"What?"

"Medea's maids have all changed. What did you do?"

"Darling, I couldn't help it. You want me to do something when the Princess pushes me away."

Marieu was also worried about the same thing. Because the new maids had to win the Princess's heart back before she liked her.

So Marieu visited the Princess every day and flattered her in every way, but her heart was unwavering.

Marieu pouted and showed off her calf.

"Look at this. She sends me to the head maid like this-"

"Wait. Medea is pushing you away?"

Samon's eyes sparkled.
