SPMB - Side Story 28

My Body Has Been Possessed By Someone

One day when Kanna was eighteen.

That day, Kanna found a baby bird that had fallen under a tree in the garden.

'You're pitiful.'

It was so sad to see him fall from his nest and struggle alone. That look looked just like her.

So, after treating the bird's wings, she placed it back in the nest....

'How did I get up here?'

Climbing up a tree and coming down from it were two completely different activities. It was a time when she couldn't do anything for a while and clung to the tree like a cicada.

"What are you doing there?"

A man appeared.

Kanna was very nervous. He is that person. It had been almost a year since she saw that person who was always busy.

"Bird, the bird is injured..."

"So? Did you go up because you wanted to get hurt too?"

When Kanna couldn't say anything, he urged her.

"Come down quickly."

"I can't go down."

"Then get away. I'll catch you."

"..."

Fall? From this height?

It's easier said than done, how can you come to your senses?

Still unable to move, he sighs softly.

'oh my god.'

Kanna held on to the wooden beam and closed her eyes tightly. He must think that she is pathetic. She thought he would leave like this, swearing, but...

"Ouch!"

The next moment, her body lifted up.

"Alright.... "

It was him.

The person who climbed up the tree in one fell swoop placed her body around his shoulders...

As she struggled in surprise, he gently pressed her back.

"Stay still."

Big hands. And warm body temperature.

The grip was so uncomfortable that her whole body felt weak for a moment.

It seemed like her instincts realized it first.

These hands, this person, are safer than anyone else in the world.

But soon Kanna became very nervous again. His hands were pressing down on her back to keep her from falling, and her heart was pounding like crazy at the vivid warmth of his body. It felt like she was going to break her ribs and pop out.

After what felt like an eternity, her feet finally touched the ground.

 "Okay, thank you. Ah."

When Kanna couldn't keep my balance and stumbled, he held my shoulder. At that moment, their eyes suddenly met.

"..."

It just stopped.

She couldn't move. It was as if her soul had been absorbed by the eyes that looked directly at her. She just lost her mind and thought like an idiot.

This person is like a God.

The silence was only momentary.

The person looks to the side. Only then did Kanna come to her senses.

"S-sorry. Hey, by the way, there's a wound on your hand...."

Did he get pricked by a thorn while climbing a tree with one hand? Blood was flowing from his right palm.

"Would you like me to treat you?"

She didn't know what kind of courage she had to say that. He is someone she has admired and feared her whole life.

"..."

Kanna thought she would be rejected.

But he didn't refuse. To be precise, he gave no answer.

"Wait here for a moment! I'll get the tools right away!"

Kanna ran frantically to the underground laboratory and gathered treatment tools.

'Come on, I have to go. Before he leaves.'

As Kanna ran to the garden, holding an armful of tools, she was out of breath. With each step she took, her heart trembled as if it would break.

'No, of course not.'

He would have left by now.

There was no way that person, someone so busy, would wait for her, right?

But he was there.

The sight flew into her chest like a sharp fragment. It was stuck deep.

Kanna couldn't remember anything about how she got to him and treated his injured hand.

What she remembers is a patch of sunlight shining through the leaves, the air filled with the scent of spring, her trembling breath, and...

The body heat seeped through the barely touching fingertips.

That was all.

"It's all done."

He looked down at her and turned away without saying a word.

He disappeared like that. As always, out of reach.

Afterward, whenever she thought of that moment, her hands and back always felt hot as if they were on fire.

The part where his hand touched. It throbbed as if I had been burned

***

When Kanna opened her eyes, she saw Orsini sitting on the edge of her bed, smoking a cigarette.

Kanna quietly looked at his broad back.

And she thought.

'There's a scar on his back."

How did it come about? Actually, she's not that curious.

He was so distraught that he smoked five cigarettes in a row.

Kanna didn't know if his thoughts were complicated or not, but the smell was starting to irritate her, so Kanna decided to comfort him.

"Orsini."

He must have already noticed the gaze and responded without any sign of surprise.

"Why."

"Are you that upset that you fell for me? Are you confused and feeling guilty?"

"Shut up before I tear your mouth open."

"There's no need to blame yourself like that."

Kanna half-raised her body. She said towards his back.

"I guess you don't know yet. Kalen seems to know."

"What?"

"The Duke of Addis is not my biological father."

"..."

There was a short silence.

Orsini slowly turns his head to look at her. It was her dumbfounded face.

"What?"

"I was adopted in Addis when I was four years old."

Kanna stretched out her hand. When she touched Orsini's scar, she felt his muscles stiffen..

"It seems like you were so young back then that you don't remember."

His skin was hard and hot, like a piece of heated iron.

Kanna looked around without any emotion and continued speaking.

"It seemed like the Duke of Addis had something serious to talk about with my mother, but I don't know. All Kanna vaguely remembers is that her mother said he had to protect me from the Black Apostle. If the Black Apostle takes me, the world... What did she say? Did she say it was torn apart? Did she say it would be destroyed?"

"..."

"It's funny, right?"

"..."

"I still wonder why the Duke of Addis believed that nonsense. He looked serious as if he had gone directly to the future and seen the end of the world."

Kanna giggled.

"He took me to stop it."

"You..."

Orsini, who had been silent for a while, frowned.

"Now you want me to believe that bullshit?"

"You don't have to believe it. Maybe I heard wrong. Because I was so young, my memories may be distorted."

In fact, she didn't believe it either.

The mother whose face she doesn't even remember, she's probably a huge fraud.

She completely deceived Alexandro Addis and made Kanna the daughter of the Duke's family, even though she was not related to him even a drop of blood.

Kanna resented her mother like that.

'You shouldn't have done that. You shouldn't have made me the eldest daughter of Addis.'

He shouldn't have made Kanna his daughter.

Until now, she have never once felt Iike they were family, they were just strangers she encountered occasionally.

Those shackles made her life unhappy.

Suddenly Colin came to mind.

"I want you to be happy, Kanna. With the man you love..."

"Is there a possibility at all?"

Yeah, none.

Kanna smiled bitterly and pulled Orsini towards her. Orsini's skin was now as hot as fire.

Although he was trembling quickly changed. He runs like crazy.

The reason he was able to endure this hardship was because there were moments when she seemed like him.

But even so, it is only a pitiful consolation.

'There's no such thing as a possibility, Colin. I can't be happy forever.'

Even so, Kalen pushed her away as she was standing on the edge of a cliff.

She crashed and was rolling in the mud.

She used to think going down was difficult..

Now she can't remember how to get up.

***

On the way to Kanna, Kalen bought flowers for the first time in his life.

'There's no way she likes flowers or anything like that.'

Even as he thought that his heart fluttered. He felt like a clumsy boy who had just started a love affair.

Kalen thought.

Maybe this is love.

This longing for her grows and grows and grows, and he doesn't even know if it has reached the realm of love.

'So what should I do now?"

He hopes she smiles sincerely. He sincerely wants her to be happy. He hopes she genuinely likes him.

This is Kalen's first time feeling like this, and he has no idea what to do.

But he has time. So it will work out somehow...

If he walks slowly, little by little, step by step, in a good direction...

"Hey, Kalen."

But his hopes were trampled.

"Are you here?"

"..."

Kalen looked around with an expressionless face.

The number of mercenaries guarding the mansion is over a hundred. However...

"Did my brother do it?"

Everyone was dead.

It was like that as far as the eye could see.

"So, is he like this?"

Orsini brushed the blood off the blade. Kalen's face became cold.

"What did you do to my sister?"

"You have to speak clearly. I didn't do anything, you did it."

Orsini twisted his lips and smiled...

"She was flirting with me."

The next moment, Kalen quickly drew his sword. And almost at the same time, a storm-like force collided.

Kalen's jaw tightened. It was so powerful that it seemed as if his shoulder would slip off.

"What are you doing?"

"She asked me to kill you."

"So. Did you fall for the woman's candy and point the sword at your brother?"

"I am a person who keeps my promises."

Kang, sparks flew out from the blade. After several clashes, blood splattered out without knowing who it belonged to.

Orsini's head heated up. This scent of blood inspired him. And he finally realized.

The death he felt when Ilhe saw the two people tangled in the room, he thought that was the death he felt towards Kanna.

But it was a misjudgment.

"I'm going to kill you today, Kalen Addis."

He wanted to kill his brother.
