IELNDMH - Chapter 34 < Looks Like Cedric's Eyes >

I Ended Up Living Up Next Door With My Ex-Husband

The entire carriage rocked violently like a sailboat on strong waves. It was because of the shock that started from the coach compartment where Adrian was.

"Ugh...! Your Highness, block the carriage door immediately!"

Adrian's urgent cry. The sound of long swords swinging one after another was heard, along with the noise of a large crowd. It was clear that something unusual was happening.

'It seems like Adrian is dealing with several people by himself. I'd better go out and see.'

At that moment, Adrian shouted loudly, as if he heard what I was thinking.

"If Your Highness comes out now, I too will be in danger! Put something to block the carriage door right now!"

"But......!"

I felt like I wanted to go out and help Adrian right away. However, the more urgent the situation, the more rational the need to make decisions.

'Adrian is right. I don't have any martial arts skills, so if I go out, I'll just be a distraction.'

I quickly looked around, remembering Adrian's advice to block the door.

'It would be nice to have something like a piece of wood.'

But there was no way such a thing could be found in a carriage belonging to a noble family.

"Ha, then there's nothing we can do... The only way to get it is to destroy it!"

I lifted my skirt and started kicking the chair down hard. However, the seats of a luxury carriage, handcrafted by craftsmen, could not have been broken so easily.

"Ugh...! Please break down, okay?"

Meanwhile, the carriage was shaking violently due to the battle taking place in the coach compartment. Because of this, My body stumbled greatly from time to time.

I gritted my teeth and kicked the chair repeatedly, trying to keep my balance.

Puck!

How many more times did I have to do it like that?

Finally, under the chair cushion, I saw a piece of wood broken and dangling.

"It's okay!"

Fortunately, when I pulled hard with one foot supported on the, the wooden block came off easily. Now all I have to do is block the door! I ran my finger straight toward the door. And it was just when I was about to put a piece of wood under the doorknob.

Grumble...

The locked doorknob turned slowly.

'Oh, no way..."

A shiver ran down my spine. When I raised my head, completely frightened, I saw an unfamiliar man beyond the window. The man was dressed shabbily like a slave and was extremely thin. The man lowered his head and slowly pulled the locked door handle. His vertebrae were sticking out from the nape of his thin neck, and his extremely thin body was shaking like a sheet of paper due to the recoil of the doorknob that would not open.

Grumble... Grumble...

Movement is so slow that it feels strange. I was frozen in fear at that sight for a while, then shook my head and tried to come to my senses.

'This... This is not the time. I have to close the door quickly.'

My hands were shaking. I took a deep breath and placed the wooden block under the doorknob. Right at that moment.

Swish!

The man suddenly raised his head. As I faced him and his face through a glass window, I had no choice but to freeze.

'No, that doesn't make sense...'

On the man's face, no, on the place I thought was a face... there was nothing. Eyes, nose, mouth, anything.

That moment when I was terrified, facing the face of a man as blank as a mannequin.

Jiiiiik.

With an unpleasant sound, the place where the lips should have been on the man's face was ripped to the side. An unpleasant sound like scraping metal soon came out from the torn gap.

"Found! Found!"

The man quickly repeated the same words and pulled the door open. Unlike before, when I was helpless, the man pulling the doorknob now felt strong.

Slam!

The lock, which could not withstand the force, was seen gradually becoming loose. The more he did this, the faster the man began to act.

Clunk, clank, clank!

At the same time, Cedric, who was walking alone on a forest path, checked his wristwatch. He thinks it's time to come. However, the forest path before his eyes was still quiet.

Cedric's brows slowly furrowed as he looked at the forest path with his back to him.

Rebecca and Adrian.

It was because the scene of those two people laughing intimately suddenly came to mind. Cedric shook his head as if trying to shake off his displeasure. He felt uncomfortable performing and he didn't even understand it himself.

Does he feel a little bit of jealousy towards the people around his new friend, Rebecca?

Or is it just petty jealousy toward his ex-wife who is trying to start a new love?

It was a time when he was mocking himself and taking another step forward.

Chiik.

The tips of his shoes were scorched as if they had been burned. Cedric, feeling suspicious, took his steps again and a small smoke rose again.

"This......?"

It was a camouflage barrier. A barrier is created to lead to the original location for other people but to a different location only for those specified by the designer of the barrier. It was usually used when a cruel crime was committed or a hiding place was needed, and it was an advanced barrier that required considerable ability.

However, no matter how advanced the barrier is, if a force is too strong to handle approaches, it will eventually not be able to withstand it and will show loopholes.

Thanks to this, Cedric, who has strong magical powers, always recognized the camouflage barrier right away.

'Someone has guts.'

How dare they set up a barrier like this near his castle.

There was a brief moment of light ridicule. Cedric's face slowly hardened as a cool premonition suddenly passed through him.

'Rebecca is in danger.'

All senses in his body began to send unpleasant signals.

***

I held on to the doorknob and gritted my teeth. However, as the man continued to pull the door handle, my body swayed helplessly.

"Found! Found!"

As the man continued to shout, figures with similar behavior slowly gathered around him. They also had mannequin-like faces with no facial features like men.

'No matter how you look at that... I don't think they're mixed-race demons?'

I tried my best to keep my feet on the chair, but it wasn't enough to withstand the strength of several people. The joints of the door were falling apart little by little, and I ended up screaming urgently.

"Adrian-!"

"Ugh......! Your Highness!"

"There are a bunch of faceless monsters at the door!"

"The same goes for me! I'll get there as quickly as possible, so just hang in there a little longer!"

The carriage was already surrounded on all sides by a huge crowd of monsters that appeared at unknown times.

'Will I be able to hold out until Adrian comes through the crowd...?'

The arm holding the doorknob was already losing strength. It was a time when I was biting my lip out of nervousness.

Bye!

With a strong recoil, there was finally the sound of the door joint breaking.

'Holy shit!'

I quickly let go of the doorknob and stepped back. Then I picked up the wooden block again and shouted.

"If you want to come, come! I won't just sit there and suffer!"

The man removed the door without hesitation and began to stride towards me.

Gulp.

The dry sting went away on its own, and the moment he approached me felt like an eon.

'Let's come to our senses.'

Even if you go into a tiger's den, you can survive as long as you come to your senses.

I glared at the man and adjusted the piece of wood. And the moment the man finally came into range.

Bang!

I mercilessly hit the man's head with a wooden block.

"Ugh......?"

A sound came out of the man's mouth. It's hard to tell for sure because he doesn't have an expression on his face, but he seems to be embarrassed on the inside. I didn't let go of the bird and struck the man on the head one more time.

Bang!

"Off......?"

The man let out a single word and fell down like a doll.

Then other monsters came in like a tide, stepping on the fallen man.

'Ha, I'm going crazy!'

I became impatient and started hitting them on the head at random.

"You bastards! I! Just like that! You won't get hit! I did it!"

An accent naturally appeared at the end of every word that was struck. Fortunately, thanks to those being beaten and pushed back, the remaining monsters standing outside the door were unable to enter the carriage.

'I'm glad they don't have eyes, nose, or mouth. I feel less guilty because it feels like I'm beating a doll!'

Since the situation was so unrealistic, I had such a trivial thought. Then it was that time when I swung the block with all my might again.

Grab!

The movement of the leg stopped with a dull sound. One of the monsters that had been beating me all the time grabbed me by the leg of my neck.

"You're not letting go of this?!"

I pulled at the wooden block with all my might, but the guy held on without even budging.

Meanwhile, the remaining monsters outside the carriage began to rush in without hesitation.

'Gosh, if it weren't for that guy, I could have lasted a little longer!'

I placed the wooden blocks with the feeling of being at a loss.

"Hey! Do you think I can't hit you without it?"

And I mercilessly lifted up both cheeks of the guy who dared to disturb me.

Wow! Oops!

Then the guy staggered back, hesitated, and eventually lost sight of the wooden block.

It's time!

The moment when I hurriedly picked up the piece of wood. Outside the door, I finally saw Adrian approaching through the crowd.

We barely managed to continue the conversation, raising our voices despite the crowd of monsters between us.

"Your Highness!"

"Uh? Adrian, are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine, but Your fragile Highness...!"

I swung my wooden block at the monster that came at me just in time.

Bang!

"What? I didn't hear you!"

When I shouted loudly due to the noise around me, Adrian also shook his head and answered loudly.

"I'm so glad you didn't hear!"

It was at that time that I felt a little relieved by Adrian's appearance. The moment I was caught off guard, I felt strong pressure on the back of my head.

"Ugh......!"

A monster was hiding behind my back and starting to strangle me.

"Your Highness!"

Adrian shouted in a tearing voice. Purple energy began to wave violently above his long sword. Adrian swung his sword without hesitation, his eyes becoming even more fierce.

At the same time, the monsters that had gathered around him fell down helplessly, like reeds hit by a strong typhoon. But there were still many monsters left between him and me.

'Is this war or what? Why on earth are there so many people?'

I became irritated by the never-ending situation. And with all that emotion, I powerfully struck the guy who was strangling me from behind with my elbow in the stomach. But the guy didn't move.

To make matters worse, the guys in front of me started running towards me, trying to strangle me.

"Ugh......!"

"Your Highness!"

Adrian's urgent cry was heard. But after hearing that sound, my ears gradually became deaf, and a hazy fog began to form before my eyes.

'Ha, not even an hour has passed since I was immersed in the sweet dream of becoming rich...'

In the end, will I die in vain like this?

The moment when my eyes slowly closed due to lack of breath.

Phew!

Suddenly, with a sound, I suddenly regained my breath.

"Huh....!"

When I opened my eyes, breathing heavily, I saw the guy who had been strangling me in front of me standing up and hanging out. There was something sharp hitting that guy's head.

It was a bright blue flash that resembled Cedric's eyes.
