DYBAR - Chapter 132 < The Best Father's Day That Will Never Happen Again (1) >

Even if it is Trampled and Broken

It was late at night with the moon high in the night sky.

Winster silently looked at the shadow illuminated by the moonlight.

"My senses are dead, Sir Calter. That's why you called me already."

Jurgen, the information dealer who was walking right next to him, chuckled. Even the boastful words she was pounding on her chest didn't sound right to Winster.

"If you say green eyes, do those old people understand? Just a dancer or something,"

"It's noisy, Jurgen."

At the sound of a growling voice, Jurgen stuck her head in and took notice. It's rare for a man with a sly nature to get angry openly. Anyway, Winster pondered the old woman's words.

"You shouldn't have told me you were a dancer earlier! I know, even to Eddington Street, the arrival of a lowly dancer was quite a story."

Her mouth was bitter.

"Is there any story about a lowly dancer?"

That he had not heard even though he had been helping the old woman with her chores for several days. When it appeared, it exploded.

"Two lowly things died and did not survive. She was young and very filial, so she served her grandmother even though she had to mortgage her life to pay for medicine."

The words that Winster wanted to avoid as much as possible came out of the old woman's mouth without hesitation.

"If she had started out as a dancer, Ilshe wouldn't have been in so much debt. Because the face is pretty, it was quite useful. But that old lady also loved the child very much. She's a very precious child or something. She is senile."

Where has the old woman, who was kind to a young man she met for the first time, disappeared to?

The old woman in front of him giggled and spoke with a nonchalant expression.

"It seemed like she was full one day. After her grandmother died, the girl disappeared alone, right? I understand that the body is buried somewhere in the graveyard. Let's just sit still, where was it...."

Cemetery at the end of Eddington Street. Winster managed to find it in a tomb covered with moss and broken stone slabs that seemed to have been taken care of by no one.

"If the slab isn't broken, you can find it. That peculiar kid called the grandmother strangely. She said the best, the best, whatever."

- Best priest, thank you so much. Rest well.

With love. Ninian.

"But what is the best priest?!"

Winster quickly covered Jurgen's mouth. The two men hid in the shadow of the wall of the Grand Duke's residence and inspected the several unfamiliar knights standing in front of the main gate of the Grand Duke's residence. And two luxurious carriages were waiting in front of it.

It seems that he passed over these numerous signs as he was walking in a daze. Winster narrowed his eyes.

The pattern on the carriage was that of the Prince's Palace. There is absolutely no need to come to the Grand Duke's residence. At that moment, Howard's words flashed through Winster's mind.

"The Prince said to me..... Be friendly."

No matter how friendly they were, they weren't close enough to send a carriage like that. How long will it take?

But when they did not return after several minutes, Winster shrugged his shoulders and looked back at Jurgen.

"I will have to invite you to the Grand Duke's residence later. I'll be sure to tell His Highness about your accomplishments, Jurgen."

"..... Would you mind? If you have any chance, please come to our store......."

Jurgen, who was quick-witted, seemed to have figured out the situation. She lowered her voice and was wary of her surroundings. Winster laughed.

"Is that possible?"

"..."

"No matter what the system, this is the Grand Duke's residence."

Anyway, bluffing. Although she grumbled, Jurgen nodded her head with a relieved expression.

Grand Duke Vikander's residence. Jurgen also knows the weight of that name well.

***

There were quite a few secrets in the Grand Duke's residence, one of which was that there was a difference between the water pipe drawn on the blueprint of the Grand Duke's residence kept in the imperial palace and the water pipe actually designed.

Ugh.

Winster got up, shaking off the moisture from his body, and naturally went out into the hallway.

None of the servants were surprised to see Winster coming out of an unused room. To be precise, it was true that he was so busy that he didn't even have time to be surprised.

"Knight, are you here? The robes are ready. Please return quickly."

"A formal dress?"

"I'm here?"

Sobel happened to pass by Winster. It had been a long time since he had shown his distraught expression.

Not knowing why, Winster followed him into the drawing room.

"What's the matter? What's out there... Is Lord Interfield really going to the Prince's Palace this night?"

It was almost midnight, and Howard was dressed in smart formal clothes. Howard stood with an unwilling look on his face and looked at Winster.

"It's the imperial palace, to be exact. The Father's Day festivities are starting soon. You too, hurry up and get ready."

"What are you talking about. I have to go to the Lady now!"

He has finally heard the story about the Young Lady's mother. He doesn't know what 'High Priestess' is, but if he goes back and asks Bethany, he'll find out.

But Howard's face was serious.

"An official invitation to Winster Calter has been sent from the imperial palace."

"Baron. What does that have to do with me? I don't even have a noble title......"

Winster's countenance hardened as he snorted. For a moment, a chill ran down his spine.

How can the imperial palace know that he, who is not even an official noble, has come to the system?

When he entered the city gates, he came in simply as 'Commoner Winster Calter'!

"The Crown Prince is openly saying that he is keeping an eye on you, even though you don't have a noble title, and that you came to the island."

Since when...?

Howard asked, his heart pounding anxiously.

"Have you ever been stepped on?"

"Not in Eddington, at least."

He was sure of that. Winster's senses developed amazingly as he went through various battlefields. He doesn't know where the Prince found him, but at least the information he heard about the young lady at Eddington could have leaked out.

Jurgen!

Winster hurriedly picked up the note from the nightstand. He asked urgently, scribbling down the information he found.

"Did you send a telegram to His Highness? No, rather, please send someone to Jurgen. To the old woman in Eddington Street."

But both of Winster's requests were impossible. At least through the official route

"The Grand Duke's hospitality to guests is a mess. I didn't know they would leave guests standing outside the front door for this long."

Not only in front of the main gate but also beyond the wall of the Grand Duke's residence were filled with the Prince's knights.

In front of the lined-up carriage, Count Hodges held out his hand to Howard Interfield and Winster Calter, who greeted him with cold faces.

"I came to accompany you, Baron. And, Lord Calter."

When Howard asked him to set up a negotiation meeting, he was busy and avoided him, but now it seems like he has quite a bit of time.

"Count."

Howard said sarcastically with a calm expression on his face. Count Hodges was not at all perturbed. The expressionless face shrugged his shoulders.

"I have to carve out the time I don't have. No matter how much you are a Baron, you are clearly the representative of the Vikander territory which is currently negotiating over mineral tax rates. His Royal Highness has ordered us to treat our precious guests with respect, so it is right for me to come."

"Unfortunately, Sir Calter will have difficulty accepting the invitation. His Highness the Grand Duke was looking for him in a hurry."

"Is it?"

Count Hodges looked at the Grand Duke's residence with sharp eyes. As the saying goes, it was an iron-clad castle, and when the main gate was closed, it was difficult to even see the outside of the mansion with the naked eye.

Therefore, when, while trying to obtain information about Howard Interfield, he accidentally discovered that Winster Calter had entered the mansion, the joy of good luck was doubled.

"Looks like Lady Luck is on my side. When I found the hint, I had two tools to help me get my ribs back on track."

It was the same for the Prince.

After completely getting rid of Maria Ethel, the Crown Prince, who had regained his original sharp charisma, smiled crookedly and waved the secret document of the White Crystal Mine.

"Whether Olivia will say Olivia Madeleine or Olivia. She will return to her palace once again and we will watch her scream with her pretty mouth."

In the transferor's column of the secret document, 'Olivia Madeleine' was written in elegant handwriting.

Only then did Count Hodges get goosebumps all over his body. The Count muttered to himself.

"To prove the transfer of a document..."

"She, Olivia, must exist as the Princess of Madeleine, and if she does so, she will naturally follow the will of her father, the Duke of Madeleine, and the Princess will marry me. Well, if not, the mine itself will return to the ownership of the imperial palace, and the Grand Duke will be burned to death by magic."

The Prince's laugh at that time was full of the cruelty of a ruler. With the majesty that immobilized Count Hodges, the Crown Prince ordered.

"So, bring both of my chess pieces to the palace."

Count Hodges added as if he was talking to himself, recalling the sea-colored eyes shining with ruthlessness.

"By the way, the butler needs to crack down on the Grand Duke's residence. What kind of scoundrels dare to wander around the walls of the Grand Duke's residence?"

Only at those words did Winster Calter, who was full of hostility, pause for a moment.

Count Hodges grinned.

Winster Calter was so fast that he often lost track of where he was going, but he wasn't the one he found today. A very foul-mouthed fellow with a scar on his face.

"Of course, don't worry. One of the two went missing, but I personally captured the other and placed him in the imperial palace police."

"..."

"How about it? As a knight guarding the Grand Duke's residence, shouldn't you check his face at least once?"

After a subtle recommendation, Winster slowly nodded his head.

Checkmate.

Count Hodges grinned and nodded toward his carriage.

The two chess pieces that will bring Olivia Madeleine can now head to the imperial palace.

"Jerun, Rowena's faithful servant, meets His Majesty the King."

Late at night, great siege.

As soon as he entered the entrance, Edwin looked at Jerun with irritated eyes at the polite manners he heard.

"...... You didn't come to Sonnair Street because you had a guest with you, Live."

"Instead, Dean went with you."

Olivia smiled sheepishly and stuck out her tongue. Edwin chuckled at her charming request to take a look and pulled Olivia's shoulder.

The permeating scent, slender shoulder line, and warm warmth. Only then did he feel like he was a little satisfied with Olivia.

A few hours ago. When green-eyed people appeared on Sonaire Street, where preparations for the festival were in full swing. Edwin naturally looked for Olivia.

Of course, Olivia would be there to lead these wary people.

"Your Highness! Are you still with me?"

Among the people of Lowell, the person at the center was Dean. It was only for a moment that he felt at peace with the sight of people following him as if he were a hero.

What Dean said when asked where Olivia was was simple.

"The Lady went to the Great Siege with her guests."

He heard those words and had just come to the Great Siege in search of Olivia. Olivia didn't know if she knew Edwin or not, but she said to the doctor who was following him.

"O'Neill. You may be tired, but can you take care of just one more patient?"

There seemed to be two guests.

"Is he by any chance that patient? He was still asleep."

The tired eyes of the doctor, who had been examining the health of Lowell residents all day, sparkled. The patient's story of how he maintained his life by sleeping all the time, no matter how tired he was, made the doctor's blood boil.

Either way, Edwin puffed out his lips.

"It's almost midnight, Live. Did you forget that you agreed to go see the festival with me?"

"The festival starts tomorrow."

"Did you forget the eve? Fireworks explode and pollen flies. Above all, the people of Lowell also completed their migration. As a responsible girl, your priority would be to check on them, right?"

Even though the voice was deep and low, it was a very cute plea. Olivia laughed a little.

"Appointment?"

"Then, shall we just go straight to the doctor's?"

"Am I being pushed back from the portrait to the medical treatment?"

Edwin sighed, pretending to be dejected. But Olivia pulled Edwin's sleeve and begged him. Edwin's eyebrows rose as he finally seemed to have moved on.

"Let's just go see the doctor together. There's a little bit left until midnight, therefore...."

"......How can I win?"

As soon as a grinning Edwin gave permission, an excited Olivia took Edwin's hand and led him.

"This way."

No matter how good the date was, now that the sleeping man had come to the Great Siege, Edwin wanted to see him at least once.

If she were to see an unimpressed Edwin in front of her, she would be able to let go of her lingering feelings about the man who strangely matches her qualifications.

Edwin, who was walking as if he couldn't win, paused for a moment when he saw the room Olivia was pointing to.

This room receives the most sunlight in the morning. Coincidentally, this room...

At that moment, the door to the room opened. As he looked into the room filled with only moonlight, a scene from his childhood unfolded before Edwin's eyes.

A floor-to-ceiling window with sunlight pouring in, a thin curtain fluttering through the opening, and a friendly voice looking back at him.

"Edwin."

And Edwin's eyes widened as he approached the bed, following Olivia's lead.

"It's him."

Olivia's quiet voice moved further away and then closer.

"Because he was lying down the whole time, I only had a bandage wrapped around his eyes to protect them from the light coming in."

A man lying motionless to the point where one wonders if he is dead.

The moment Edwin saw him, he felt like someone was choking him. Otherwise, there was a magic spell in front of him.

"Ah.."

It was the word he heard and saw the most as he prepared for the festival all day long. That word is so heartbreaking and choking that he can't bear to say it out loud.

His hair turned white and he was out of breath. Unconsciously, Edwin tightened his grip on the small hand.

Olivia, as if sensing his strangeness, looked at Edwin and her eyes widened.

"Eh, Edwin. Edwin? Are you okay?"

The warmth of her calling his name never leaves. It was only then that Edwin faced the unbelievable fact with a hot breath in response to the unchanging proposition.

"Father...."

Olivia couldn't believe her ears for a moment. At the same time, a green light began to flash like an explosion from the body of the man lying down.
