IDMH - Chapter 45
I Decided My Husband
I immediately gathered the employees and informed them that Perdes' brooch had disappeared, and searched their rooms to find the culprit.
Perdes's missing brooch was found deep in Garrett's closet.
"Not me! I didn't steal it!"
Garrett pleaded his innocence with a pale face, but no one believed him.
A brooch came out of his room, but what was more important was that Garrett was not behaving well.
I heard that Garrett not only did not perform his duties as a servant but also flirted with other maids. But the reason they couldn't kick him out was because he was a person appointed by the Emperor.
But when a major accident like this happens, things change.
"Garrett, I dismiss you and banish you from my mansion and the Duchy of Leopold forever."
Garrett was taken aback by my words and shouted.
"I am your servant, appointed by His Majesty the Emperor! You can't fire me at will!"
"I will speak to His Majesty separately. I can't have someone with bad habits in my mansion."
"I didn't really steal the brooch!"
I scoffed at his anxious words and spoke in a voice low enough for him to hear.
"The brooch maybe not."
"...!"
Garrett's eyes widened as if he understood what I meant.
"You should just get kicked out for stealing the brooch, Garrett. Otherwise, I will report to His Majesty the Emperor in detail all the atrocities you have committed."
It was a serious crime to dare to steal something belonging to the royal family.
Even if he is half-assed and an idiot, the royal family is the royal family, and if this fact becomes known, Garrett will be flogged at the very least.
Garrett, who could not have been unaware of this fact, eventually admitted to a crime he did not commit and left the mansion on his own.
Not only did I give Garrett some money, but I also ordered the knights to personally take him out of the territory.
Due to the Emperor's personality, there was no way he could have given Perdes only one guard role.
I can guarantee that other guards, besides Garrett would have been assigned as well.
The guard had probably already reported this situation to the Emperor, but it was a procedural matter that had to be done.
As I was taking out a piece of high-quality stationery to report to the Emperor, I suddenly remembered something I had forgotten for a while.
"Hanness, didn't you get a letter from the Allies?"
On the continent, there were largely empires, a union made up of several kingdoms, and the Holy Kingdom ruled by the Pope.
I went out to check and came back in.
"I checked just now, and there is no letter from the Allied Powers."
"Yes?"
The reply is much later than expected. I was worried that I might miss the deadline.
I became impatient because if I missed the deadline now, I would have to wait until next year to try again. I'll have to send a letter there again.
As I was finishing the letter to the Emperor, Perdes came to visit.
"Hanness, come out for a moment."
I don't know what brought Perdes here, but he couldn't talk comfortably in a place with Hannes, so I sent him away.
Perdes asked me in a low voice as soon as Hannes was out.
"You'll be okay, right?"
There was a lot of worry in his voice. When I looked at him as if asking cautiously what was wrong, Perdes looked around for no reason and then asked.
"You're not going to report what happened here to the Emperor, are you?"
"He dared to steal the royal family's money, so he won't be able to report it."
"Is that so?"
"Sure. And don't worry, he won't even meet the Emperor in the first place."
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
Instead of answering the question. I laughed.
He did not mention that he had put a slightly modified version of the sachet I had given to Chernosor in the bag of old money I had given to Garrett.
***
To show that Perdes was faithfully carrying out the Emperor's orders, the two shared the same bedroom at least once a week.
Each time, I took medicine that helped the baby in question grow well.
However, this time, since there was no supervisor, Garret, Perdes tried to ignore it, but surprisingly, Adele was against it.
"There will be other guards besides that servant, so let's share the same bedroom."
"Another surveillance station. Who are you talking about?"
"Well, I don't know that either."
How can you be sure if you don't know?
Perdes was puzzled and couldn't believe it.
No, exactly. I didn't want to believe it. If you believe that, you have to take medicine.
Even though it has the function of a tonic, its basic purpose is that it is an impure medicine, so I did not want to take it.
"Eat now,"
However, Perdes could not resist Adele's pressure and had no choice but to take medicine.
After taking the medication, Perdes went into the shared bedroom with Adele.
This shared bedroom had a big secret: there was a secret passageway connected to Perdes's bedroom. This was also the reason why Adele chose this place as her shared bedroom.
Since only Adele knew about the existence of the secret passage, the occupants as well as the Emperor's guards would think that the two people shared the same bedroom.
As the night deepened, Adele opened the door to the secret passage.
"When you go back to the bedroom, don't forget to lock the door so no one can come in."
And before sending Perdes away, I asked him various questions.
"You can't even bring that servant named Jack in."
"Okay."
"And when you wake up in the morning and leave the bedroom, you have to come back here through the secret passage. You cannot use the bedroom."
How many times has he heard that story?
It felt like scabs were forming on his ears now. Perdes waved his hands as if he was annoyed and headed to the bedroom through the secret passage.
And then he lay down on the wide bed and fell asleep, he wondered if the medicine that is said to help babies have a sleeping pill contains sleeping pills, and he fell drowsy after taking it.
The first time he came to his senses was when warm sunlight streamed through the thick curtains.
"How long did I sleep?'
Perdes quickly got up and checked his watch. It was 7 am.
The last time he looked at the clock was 9pm, so he felt like he had slept for a long time, but he was tired.
"Ugh."
He was also tired as if I had been beaten several times by Chernosor.
Perdes tried to relieve his stiff body by stretching, but it was no use.
Does he feel better if you take a walk and breathe in the cold air?
Thinking that would be a good idea, Perdes quickly got ready to go out and returned to the shared bedroom through the secret passage.
Adele had already left, so there was no one in the shared bedroom.
Perdes glanced at the crumpled blanket that Adele was believed to have been lying on.
There was no warmth at all. This meant that it had been quite a while since Adele left the room.
It's now 7 a.m., what time did she wake up?
Thinking that she was truly diligent, Perdes left the room and headed to the garden to take his intended walk.
"Good morning, Perdes."
"Did you have a good dream last night?"
The workers met on the way to the garden and greeted him kindly.
"..."
Except for one, Aldor.
'If I go a little further, it's a garden.'
Perdes, who happened to be in a good mood after meeting him at the entrance to the garden, glanced at Aldor with a disapproving look on his face.
The reason he hates Aldor is because Aldor also hates himself.
It was hard to like people who liked him, but he didn't have the heart to waste it on people he didn't like.
Aldor's head was soaked in sweat as if he had been training in the morning.
'But why are you here?'
Without going to the knights' quarters and washing up?
Moreover, the garden was in the opposite direction from the knights' quarters.
If he had been training in the morning at the training ground in the knight's quarters, there was no reason for him to be here.
Perdes, who was wondering why he was here, suddenly remembered a scene he had seen before. The scene where Adele and Aldor clashed swords in great joy!
"Sir Aldor?"
When Adele's voice was heard behind Aldor, Perdes' eyes naturally turned to behind him.
Adele, with her hair tied high in a ponytail, was wiping the sweat from her forehead with a towel. Sweat that could not be wiped off was flowing down her white jawline.
Perdes, who had inadvertently followed it with his gaze, looked down in surprise when his eyes landed on the slightly unbuttoned shirt.
'Why are you wearing your clothes loose like that?'
What is she going to do if another man sees it?
He knew it would get hot when she swung the sword, but she loosened it too much!
It was an idea that Adele would be shocked to hear. Because she only had two buttons undone, including the top one.
Still, Perdes didn't like Adele dressed like that.
He wanted to go and fix Adele's loose clothes or cover Aldor's eyes.
"What are you doing there without going in..... Perdes?"
Adele also found Perdes late and stopped.
Perdes glanced at Adele and asked.
"I guess you sparred with this guy again?"
"That means you've seen us spar before."
"Huh. I saw you clashing swords vigorously in the practice range in the corner of the garden."
This was the second time Adele sparred with Aldor.
As a result, Adele, who immediately realized what Perdes was talking about, let out a short exclamation.
"I had no idea you were watching."
He guessed so. Because the Young Lady was only concentrating on sparring.
Perdes tried to say that, but it seemed too sarcastic, so he swallowed his words.
When he thinks about it again, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but strangely enough, he finds it irritating.
Is it because the medicine he took yesterday made him nervous?
It seemed like that, so Perdes let out a long sigh and turned around.
“Perdes?”
Adele called him in a worried voice, but Perdes did not turn around.
Looking back now, Perdes' felt like he was letting out all the frustration he had been trying to suppress, so he left the place without even saying he was leaving.
