IDEFYEM - Chapter 76

IDEFYEM - Chapter 76

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

'How could he do something like that to the daughter he loved?'

I thought tossing and turning in bed.

'No, the Duke did something much worse to Enrica."

I sighed as the thought popped into my head again. I had a headache and felt like I didn't want to do anything.

While I was soothing my mind by drinking warm tea, not long after, Sarah came to tell me some bad news.

"How are you feeling, Lady?"

"I'm taking medication, but..."

"The doctor has decided to make another visit in the evening. It would be nice if there was something I could do for you."

Sarah had a look on her face that made her want to be sick instead of me if she could.

"I'm okay. Is there any other news?"

"After the auction incident, the auctioneers became very cautious in their movements. There is no trace of the teacher at all."

With her face suddenly darkening, Sarah opened her mouth and spoke.

I was equally at a loss at the thought that perhaps everything had returned to square one.

I fiddled with the handle of the teacup and then changed the topic of conversation and asked.

"How's the boy doing?"

"Oh, right. At first, he seemed to be on guard even when we gave him food, but his condition has improved a lot these days."

A faint smile began to creep across Sarah's lips.

"One of the employee's children is the same age, and it seems like they are becoming friends."

I said, feeling my anxious mind calming down due to a lack of certainty for a moment.

"It was something I had to do just to see that kid. Even if he goes back a little longer."

It was a worthwhile action if it could change at least one person's life. Moreover, from last time, Sarah seemed to have a slight overlap between her past and that boy.

As she was secretly examining my thoughts, she smiled quietly and opened her mouth.

"I'm glad you're the kind of person who thinks that way."

"Once this cold and the wedding are over, I'll start working harder."

Sarah's expression, which had brightened slightly, seemed to darken again. Sara opened her eyes wide and was about to ask the reason, but Sarah opened her mouth first.

"Miss....I....The marriage."

"Huh?"

"No, it's nothing."

Sarah pursed her lips and hurried out like someone running away from something.

"As expected, my mind is still complicated because of my teacher's work.

If it weren't for the timing, it would have been nice to go on a long vacation.

I looked at her back sadly..

Although I didn't feel like eating, I tried my best to eat the dinner the maid brought me. At night, I kept closing my eyes to get a deep, thoughtless sleep.

But despite this, my body did not get better as before.

Even the day before our wedding.

***

"I heard you were sick, but you look really bad."

The day before the wedding, the tailor came with the finished dress. During the final inspection, she anxiously asked me how I was doing.

I answered as I was getting help tucking myself into the dress.

"I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise to gain a little more weight, Ma'am."

"You don't have to worry about that."

The dress, which took quite a long time to put on, made a clicking sound as it fit my body.

Fragmented light, like the sea sparkling in the sunlight, filled my vision. The dress, which revealed a light silhouette, beautifully hugged the curves of the body, but some loose parts on the emaciated body had been sick for several days.

The tailor magically repaired the musing small pliers. Since tomorrow's wedding is a stage for the tailor to showcase her creations, I made a promise.

"I will do my best without making any mistakes so that you can be recognized."

"Don't be too burdened, Young Lady."

The tailor smiled softly. But behind that smile, a strange shadow was noticeable.

The tailor quickly hid her expression and looked to see if there were any wrinkles on the dress.

I thought as I looked at myself in the mirror she handed back.

Sarah and the tailor seem a little strange today. It may be because everyone is nervous, but it's the face of an unhappy bride.

The look on a friend's face when they see a bride getting married against her will, is something that sometimes appears in provocative romance novels!

Is your Imagination a bit excessive?

***

The tailor decided to stay at the Grand Duke's residence for the wedding that would take place the next day. The purpose was to take care of minor accidents tomorrow, such as the clip holding the waist part falling off.

"..."

Entering the spacious and luxurious room, the tailor replayed in her mind the scene of the dress meeting its owner earlier.

"It was beautiful. It was like a glass doll that would break if you touched it."

So she became more distraught.

It also reminded her of the first time Lady Wintersoar visited the dressing room. She also reflected on the strange letter she received from the Grand Duke at that time.

To never mentioned the title Grand Duke in front of his fiancee.

Even though she was dealing with the imperial family and high-ranking nobles, the tailor was still timid.

Her personality was kind, and her only wish was to live a simple life. That meant that she had been feeling guilty ever since she got involved in this strange affair.

'She seemed like a really sick person. There's no way there's another reason why the Young Lady is sick...'

The tailor, who was thinking, decided to reassure herself by shaking her head from side to side.

'No. She said it was a light cold.'

Nothing will happen, it has to be that way.

But what if she became an accomplice in the most fraudulent marriage?

The tailor, who was shaking with anxiety and thinking extreme thoughts, suddenly remembered something.

The expression on the bride's face as she smiled brightly and expressed her love.

"Do not worry! We love each other."

The tailor has seen many couples while doing this job. She heard and saw how they changed over time. Some swear eternal love but turn their backs on it after just one day, while others silently protect their love no matter the hardships.

The tailor pondered Enrica's expression once again. Perhaps, it might be okay.

That night, when she felt like she couldn't sleep, she relieved her anxiety and fell asleep while holding Enrica's smile, which suddenly came to her mind.

***

Meanwhile, back in the room, I collapsed because I was not feeling well. Could it be that sleeping and resting in the room all day has actually become toxic?

It felt like moving for a moment to put on the dress had already put a strain on my body.

'If this continues, it's going to be a really big problem. I think it's gotten worse.'

Even when I drank tea, which is said to be good for recovering magical power, my body felt weak, perhaps due to tension.

I was in a cold sweat all night long, waking up and going back to sleep again and again.

'Go to sleep and wake up early this morning so I can prepare safely.'

It felt like I was having a nightmare, but then I heard the door open. The way he walked quietly out of fear of waking me up was probably like Kael.

Now, just hearing those footsteps, brings a faint smile to my face.

When I opened my eyes from sleepiness and headache, a cold hand came up to the corner of my eyes.

"What should I do...."

Even though I mumbled my worries without any mention, Kael seemed to understand right away.

He said as he smoothed my sweaty hair with a gentle hand.

"You can cancel the wedding."

"What does that mean?"

There was a sound of air leaving my mouth.

Cancellation on the day of the wedding. I have never even heard of anything similar.

I thought it was an empty consolation to reassure me, so I laughed a little.

Then, Kael gaveee trust again with his trustworthy bass voice.

"It's not a joke. Enri. It's okay if you don't have to break my curse, let alone the wedding."

It was a pronunciation filled with such confidence that one could only believe it was the truth.

Only then did I open my eyes and face bright blue eyes shining in the darkness.

"I am I hope you don't get sick. I want you to be happy."

Outside the dark window, fireflies were emitting beautiful light.

"I feel like your life is moving away from peace because of me."

"Do you remember the second time we met? What about peace? I was suffering from a wound from being hit by the Duke at that time."

I asked him with an expression that I couldn't understand.

The sleep was almost gone.

"Besides, give up the wedding and the curse, that's why we met."

Does Kael really know what he said?

"Why would I stay with you if I don't have to do anything?"

His mouth didn't move, probably because it was a question that was clearly difficult to answer.

"You are so kind to me. To the extent that it's strange."

Blue moonlight poured in and floated leisurely around the room. Kael stroked my hair in silence and finally removed his tongue.

"Anyway, tomorrow you might not care about my curse either."

Confidence disappeared somewhere, and anxiety came out in his voice.

I rustled, adjusted my lying position, and sat down on the blanket. I couldn't figure out why he was thinking that way. The face of the man facing me looked like he was about to give up on something.

"You asked if there was anything I wanted to tell you before the wedding."

I was startled by his expression, as if he was preparing to break up. I was curious about that just a few days ago, but now I don't want to hear it.

"If you don't want to talk, don't."

Then he shook his head several times.

"Do not do that."

Even as I thought, "What am I afraid of?", my eyes naturally shook.

When I thought that I did not want to lose him, a courage of unknown origin welled up in me.

"I want to speak first."

My heart pounded as I looked closely into the deep, transparent ocean-like eyes. Eyes that seem to capture all the world's sights in blue, the sinking waves.

"Kael, I... I like you."
