IDEFYEM - Chapter 73

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

"If there is any, now is your last chance. I'll forgive you for anything, just tell me."

The man, who I thought would readily answer no, somehow remained silent. I was getting anxious about the continued silence and was trying to calm it down with a joke.

"By any chance, when is the deadline?"

"Yes?"

"Do you really have to tell me now that you'll forgive me? Is it okay until the wedding?"

Kael asked a series of questions suspiciously.

"..."

It seemed so sincere that I started to get confused as to whether it was a joke or not.

'But even if it's sincere... What would it be if Kael was hiding something from me?'

I watched the scene in confusion and thought.

"Shall we wait until the wedding?"

"... Yes."

"Then let's do it."

The man who was worried about my words soon nodded slowly in agreement. I glanced at him strangely, as if I hadn't seen him in a long time.

"Looking like that, I guess you have something to tell me before the wedding, Kael."

However, Kael only showed a subtle smile and did not open his mouth.

"How are you feeling, Enri?"

He seemed like someone who would change the topic of conversation in a way that was noticeable to everyone.

"I'm okay."

When I answered hesitantly, he walked closer and placed his hand on my forehead.

'Ugh, that's cold.'

I was still sometimes surprised by the body temperature of a man without a heart.

"Your fever rarely goes down."

Kael looked at me with worried eyes and muttered.

It wasn't like the first time when I couldn't open my eyes and was panting from fever, but even after a few days, there was no clear sign of getting better.

"I will try to get better quickly."

"It is better to rest well rather than exert effort."

"If this continues, I will become a bride who collapses from pain on her wedding day."

The man, avoiding eye contact, half-closed his mouth and muttered quietly.

"...If you faint midway. I think it might be for a different reason than that."

"I beg your pardon? I didn't hear you clearly."

"It's nothing."

There was more than one thing I wanted to ask, but rather than push him, I decided to wait until the deadline mentioned above.

"Why don't you sleep a little more?"

"What does that mean to someone who wakes up after sleeping all day?"

I grumbled a little at the man who treated me like I was a newborn. Then I brought back the guest list that I had placed nearby earlier and started reading it.

'If I made a mistake in front of all these people... Ugh, that's terrible.'

While I was nervously checking the arrangement of the names, Kael brought a hairbrush from somewhere.

I asked curiously, as I had just seen him buried in a pile of documents.

"Are you finished?"

"I need time to rest too."

"Why is that break time...?OMG!"

Suddenly, the pain came along with the feeling of my hair being pulled from behind.

When I turned around with tears in my eyes, I saw Kael holding the comb, looking equally embarrassed.

"What are you doing?"

"I had no idea it would be like this."

"Do you have any ill feelings towards me? Put down the brush first!"

He seemed to be obediently putting down the comb, but somehow he kept his arm raised.

"But I can do better next time. Really."

"It really hurt."

"Sorry. I didn't know your hair was that tangled."

Come to think of it, I don't think I've brushed my hair since I got sick.

Immediately, I began to feel weak due to Kael's earnest gaze.

"Let me try one more time."

"..."

"Then I take it you gave permission."

When there was no answer, Kael brushed my hair with the comb once again.

I was so scared that I gradually melted into his delicate touch. Although it was still clumsy, it was a much more cautious movement than before.

"...Oh."

My body gradually became drowsy, but when I was about to relax, his hand lightly touched the back of my neck, causing my shoulders to flinch.

'My hair has come to its senses.'

Even though I didn't want to be tickled, my fingertips kept bending. I felt like I was becoming conscious of the atmosphere, so I sighed and cleared my throat.

I looked for a distraction and read the guest list that wasn't in my sight.

"Is that that funny?"

Kael asked as if he could clearly see inside me. Maybe it was just my imagination, but it was a shameless way of speaking anyway.

I didn't want to lose to him, so I accepted it without any hesitation.

"It looks like there are quite a few things that need to be fixed."

"Wow, that's a big deal."

Because of his attitude of not taking it seriously, I looked over the list with more persistent eyes.

'Now that it's like this, I'm going to pick up even a single fault just to show off.'

As I found something to focus on, I felt like I was gradually forgetting that my condition was not that good.

At the same time, the more I fell into the text, the less Kael's touch became.

"Kael?"

In the completely quiet room, only his name that I called rang out. As soon as I turned around, the man's head fell on my shoulder.

Before I knew it, his eyelids, which were full of fatigue, were closed.

'He made me sleep a little longer and then fell asleep first.'

I very weakly moved my shoulders to lay him down in a comfortable position.

The sturdy body was so heavy, not secretly but openly, that it was impossible to lift it.

In the end. I twisted my body and threw the man down on the bed.

However, seeing as he didn't wake up, it seemed like he was in a very deep sleep. I gently stroked Kael's hair with a strange feeling of pity.

'What on earth is that...?'

I glanced at the pile of papers on my clean desk.

Then he craned his head upward and began scanning the titles. Business plans and all kinds of reports that make you dizzy just by looking at them.

'That's why people falline this.'

As I stuck out my tongue and tried to look away again, something strange caught my eye.

'Gr...Duchy?'

It was a letter that I could barely see through squinting in the darkness.

Because of that, I started to think that perhaps I had seen it wrong.

It was the moment when I was about to get up from the bed to look at the documents. My wrist was grabbed from underneath my chin.

As I slowly turned my head, bright blue eyes glowed in the darkness.

My heart sank for a moment as I saw the sparkling eyes as if he had witnessed prey.

He then slowly blinked his eyelids and moved his lips.

"... We're sleeping together."

The grip on my arm tightened and my body fell over.

I felt like I was floating in the air and in an instant, I was lying back on the bed.

As I opened my mouth in embarrassment, I heard breathing that was getting quieter.

I wonder if he is sleeping.

I thought this because I could feel his breathing near the nape of my neck, which was quite heavy.

'You're not pretending to sleep, are you?'

As soon as I whined to get out of bed again. Kael's arm moved.

Suddenly, I was in a restrained position, as if I was being held in a man's arms.

Even though I was startled and fluttered, Kael's arm was firmly fixed.

"It's okay to have bad sleeping habits."

In the end, I gave up and muttered, thinking about what I should say to tease him tomorrow.

Kael's arms were wide and warm enough to fit my body. The arm that was placed on me was heavy, but I felt strangely stable.

While I was blinking, feeling strangely tired, I saw a pile of documents still piled up on the desk in the corner of my eye.

'Come to think of it, I was trying to check that earlier. The word 'Grand Duchy' is written on the document.

Did Kael offer something to the Grand Duke's family ahead of the wedding? As an apology?

While I was wondering about KaeI's sleeping habits.l, I fell asleep without realizing it.

And how many hours have passed?

The next morning. I woke up to Sarah's voice calling me.

"Miss, we have a visitor!"

***

I woke up to Sarah's call and wiped my mouth while still half asleep.

"wlWhat? Who's coming for me?"

"The Marchioness Dyke!"

After a moment of silence, having clearly summarized the situation, I opened my mouth.

"Aha, it's still a dream."

Sarah stopped me as I covered myself with the blanket again and tried to fall asleep.

"Really! Yesterday, Lady Sophia said to her that you were sick and she came to visit because she was worried."

"What? No, what on earth is that?"

I couldn't finish my sentence, so I felt empty and fell on the bed.

'Where has Kael gone?'

He obviously held me and slept with me until dawn yesterday. It seemed like he left before morning.

"Wait a minute, are you still in pain? Your forehead is hot!"

At that time, Sarah made a fuss, making me realize that she was back.

"You're been walking around every day lately."

"I was worried about the Young Lady today, so I planned to stick around all day. But I didn't know that guests would come."

"Ugh, what should I do..."

Sarah quickly tidied up the room and helped with minimal redecorating.

Sarah, who completed everything in just 10 minutes, immediately guided the Marchioness to the bedroom.

Before long, the woman who opened the door quickly opened her mouth.

"Enrica, please forgive my rudeness of visiting so unexpectedly. Are you feeling okay?"
