IDEFYEM - Chapter 68

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

"Kael."

I asked with wide eyes, having never expected his appearance.

"Why are you here so late?"

"I was worried all day."

When I saw the well-shaped features, my body, which seemed like it was about to collapse at any moment, felt better, as if the fatigue had gone away.

But perhaps it was just an illusion, and soon my vision became dizzy. At that moment, my legs lost strength and I stumbled, and Kael immediately grabbed me and supported me.

"You're hurt as expected."

"I wasn't hurt. I'm just tired."

It's hard to believe that the symptoms that only appear when magical energy is depleted are coming back.

With a shy face, I leaned into his arms and caught my breath.

"It will be much harder for Sarah. My familiar was also injured."

I brought this up because I felt like I was the only one worried about those who had suffered even more.

However, Kael slowly shook his head and made eye contact with me.

"It's you I'm worried about."

A cool hand came up to my cheek and cooled my fever.

He even brushed a few stray hairs past my ears.

Every time he touched it, my face got hotter, so it seemed like it had the opposite effect.

"..."

I really like him.

It was a time that I was able to experience again.

Kael spoke in a low, soft voice close to my ear.

"I hope you don't have to overdo it because of me."

In that state, Kael supported my arm and led me to the bed.

"It seems like I came as an uninvited guest without contacting you and disturbed your rest. I'm sorry, Enri."

"No. It was helpful."

While saying that, I held onto Kael's sleeve as he was about to leave.

However, he was startled by my careless action and immediately withdrew my hand.

After some hesitation, I opened my mouth and began to spit out what was inside.

"I saw something so terrible today."

When I close my eyes, I still remember the scene I saw at the auction.

However, I did not tell him the details of what I experienced there but only expressed my gratitude.

"I thought I would have a nightmare if I fell asleep like this... Thank you for coming."

"Then I will stay here until you fall asleep."

He tilted his head and spoke after the strangely moving story.

"I didn't mean to ask you to push yourself that hard."

"Why do you think it's impossible?"

"It's late... I'm sure you'll be tired tomorrow.

"It's nice to see your emaciated face after nursing me all night a few days ago."

Instead of nursing him all night, I think I just lay next to him and slept soundly.

But before I could say anything, Kael brought a chair over and placed it next to the bed.

He sat down at an angle where he could clearly see my face and covered me with a blanket.

"Isn't it cold? Summer is really coming to an end now."

"Hmm.. it's okay. It's just right."

It was only after I was wrapped in a cozy blanket that I felt like I was fully resting.

Now that I think about it, it was a hot summer when I first met him.

The air was cool even at night, so I was wearing a dress made of light material.

As if to prove the passage of time, the clothes I was wearing now were thicker than those.

"I'm so happy to meet you."

It was a thought that came to my mind while pondering the flow of the seasons.

'I'm looking forward to the upcoming wedding. You may not understand.'

I opened my eyes, blurred by the pouring sleep, and looked up at him.

"That's right, Kael. I'm sorry for not discussing it with you in advance. I brought a boy I met at an auction here..."

"There must be a reason for your actions. I will give him a room if he needs it."

"Thank you always."

I spoke in a mumbling voice.

"Ah. I'm still curious about this. You sit out of compassion or necessity?"

Kael asked as if he wanted to hear the answer from me with my eyes half closed.

"Well. I think it's half and half."

I answered, frowning in my sleep as I thought about it.

Then, Kael put his hand over my eyes, as if it was okay for me to fall asleep.

As always, the cool body temperature of the heartless man felt good. It was just the right amount for my skin, which felt slightly overheated from overexertion.

"... You have too much sympathy."

The last voice Kael heard contained such content.

It was a cold tone and low voice that was a little different from usual, to the point where I was confused as to whether it was a dream for a few seconds.

"That's why I sympathize with you too."

***

The next day, I woke up late in the afternoon and had a late lunch.

I carefully looked through all the newspapers, from social magazines for nobles to gossip magazines, just about the fire that happened in that alley yesterday.

This probably proves the fact that they are carefully controlling entry. Maybe the media might have something behind it.

For now, I decided to watch closely to see if the teacher would move his residence and when the auction would be held again.

The news was that the boy who came with us yesterday woke up. I gathered the remaining magical energy and cast a simple healing spell.

It wasn't my specialty and I was clumsy, but it was enough to keep the scars from getting worse. Soon Sarah, who had brought dictionaries of various countries from the library, began trying to talk to the boy.

The boy looked at us with wary eyes, but he seemed to think that we were at least better than the people at the auction house.

This he because they cooperated well without showing signs of running away or rebelling.

"This? Do you understand?"

The boy shook his head at Sarah, who pointed to the Latnian dictionary.

"Then what about this?"

This time too, it was a failure.

"Could it be that he is from an ethnic minority or are completely illiterate?"

Even though several attempts were made, no results were seen.

I said while I was watching the scene out of the corner of my eye while doing other things.

It was a matter of checking the flower decorations for the wedding, which was just around the corner, and the movement during the ceremony.

Since it was already perfect, there wasn't much for me to do anyway.

'Well. Or maybe he doesn't trust us yet."

Sarah spoke as if looking at the boy, but there was no response as if he really didn't understand.

I thought that he, too, would be scared and frustrated while listening to our conversation.

I put aside the pile of paper I was holding for a moment and thought about a solution.

"How about explaining it with your body or drawing a picture instead?"

Sarah clapped her hands as if she thought that method was good.

She picked up a quill and immediately started scribbling on paper.

The first thing she drew, with better skills than expected, was a picture of a father, mother, and child in the same house.

When I held it in front of the boy, he finally got a meaningful reaction.

The boy, who looked closely at the picture depicting his family, shook his head.

But he wasn't shaking his head because he couldn't understand like before.

"It's like hr don't have a family."

Sarah busily moved her arms and drew another picture on the next page.

It was her former teacher and a face that had been seen many times at auctions.

The boy had the most violent reaction I've ever seen.

"...!"

The boy picked up another pen that was rolling around on the desk and struck it like a dagger on Sarah's teacher's drawing several times.

We were a little shocked by the burning eyes filled with revenge.

That's because he only had the appearance of thirteen.

"What on earth happened to you?"

After that, it was Sarah who acted first.

Sarah picked up the pen and copied the boy's actions.

She tore the paper with her teacher's drawing on it with a quill, confirming that they shared the same goal.

Although everything, including age, nationality, and gender, was different, they must have understood each other's deep feelings at that moment.

"It will definitely be successful."

Sara slowly opened her lips and spoke.

"Let's do this together. We can be together."

As if he vaguely understood what she was saying, the boy reached out his hand to Sarah first.

Sarah said with a grin, holding the boy's hand without hesitation.

"I guess I should teach you the language first."

My eyes were wide as I watched the heartwarming scene from afar.

It was definitely a beautiful sight.

Why is my vision getting blurry?

My body felt strange like I had a cold since last night.

I said I thought I should drink some warm water and come to my senses.

"Sarah, if you don't mind. I'd like some water..."."

Boom.

Before I could finish speaking, I heard the sound of a chair falling back.

'Am I passed out now? Why?'

I blinked my eyes in a daze.

The sound of Sarah's urgent footsteps echoed from the floor.

"Miss! Are you okay?"

"It hurts..."

I felt throbbing muscle pain even in areas far away from where I fell.

"The boy behind Sarah looks surprised..."

I think I let my guard down at best, but I wish I didn't get scared by this situation.

My head was busy with such thoughts, but my body couldn't move a single finger.

After blinking my eyelids a few times, I lost consciousness.
