IDEFYEM - Chapter 69

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

"It's a cold. But it seems like you've fallen victim to a particularly poisonous person."

The Grand Duke's doctor examined Enrica, who was lying on the bed, and said that.

Raphael came to visit after hearing the news and left her lying in his bedroom.

"Symptoms of magical depletion... Ah, it would be better to ask the wizard about this."

Raphael had already received confirmation on that part from Melua before the doctor arrived.

He said that he felt like she had used magic to its limits without even realizing it.

I guess she ignored the abnormal signals her body was sending her, and if that happened a few more times, something big would happen..

The doctor looked at Raphael, who had an unknown expression, and asked.

"Have she overexerted herself recently?"

Yes, as you said, there were times when she overdid it.

He heard that Enrica stayed up every night studying to regain her magical knowledge.

Now it seems like they are anxious to use that knowledge outside.

She was a woman who should have lived a life far from danger.

Raphael, who skipped answering, placed his hand on her forehead worriedly.

"..."

When Enrica touched something cold, her mouth completely opened even though she was unconscious.

"The fever is boiling like this. Is there no proper treatment other than diagnosis?"

"I will give her medicine, but I don't know if her fever will go away right away...I apologize, Your Majesty."

As Raphael narrowed his eyes, the doctor continued speaking hastily.

"I heard the wedding is less than a week away. Until then, I will do my best to help her recover."

After thinking for a moment, Raphael said he understood and motioned for the doctor to leave.

As he looked down at Enrica in the quiet room where they were alone, he remembered.

"I was lying there a few days ago."

The image of her nursing him diligently with her small hands came to mind.

That made a deep sigh escape Raphael's lips.

He feels like his misfortune is slowly spreading to her.

It may have been an overthinking, but it was hard not to be shaken when he saw the woman who had a bright smile until yesterday lying down with a pale face.

'I shouldn't have loved you either.'

He can't control his emotions from her every action.

His hand moved from forehead to cheek, from cheek to lip.

"Will it continue to be like this if you stay by my side?"

Will she be even half as happy as he is when she meets him?

It was a question Raphael asked without expecting an answer.

Letting go of the lips lightly brushing against his fingertips, Kael adjusted his posture and knelt by the bedside.

When she tossed and turned as if her posture was uncomfortable, he carefully untied her twisted arms.

Every time the wet towel on her forehead became lukewarm, he replaced it with a new one.

"Water."

As he mumbled with dry lips, he brought the glass close to him and quenched his thirst.

After a few hours, the body temperature slowly began to drop.

It seemed like the antipyretic effect of the medicine he had given earlier was finally taking effect.

Raphael, who carefully covered her with a blanket to prevent her body temperature from rapidly changing, sighed and looked at her quietly.

"You have a pretty sleeping face."

For the first time in his life, he thought of tickling and was surprised at himself.

He felt like he wouldn't mind spending his whole life looking at her face like this.

Look at her lips curling in her sleep, and hand over her disheveled hair.

"Does it still hurt a lot?"

Even though the fever went down, a groan was heard as if she was still in pain. It was amazing that he felt like he wanted to be in pain for her if he could.

So far, he has made only choices that will benefit him in every aspect of his life.

He rested his chin on his arm resting on the bed and muttered quietly.

"I want to hear your voice soon."

As if she understood what he said, Enrica opened her eyes an hour later.

***

"Umm."

The last touch on my back was the cold, hard material of the floor.

But now I felt something warm and cozy.

'My head hurts like it's going to explode.'

I frowned inadvertently, and immediately a cool hand came up to my forehead.

"You've taken the medicine, so you'll be fine."

It was Kael's now familiar low voice.

For some reason, I felt strangely dazed and drowsy, but I think it was because of the medicine I had taken without realizing it.

"What. What did you feed me? It's not like poison, is it?"

"Are you in the mood for a joke now?"

"I do it because this is the situation."

I deliberately spoke casually to Kael, who asked a question that seemed a bit absurd.

In fact, it felt like every part of my body was going to break at any moment.

"What is it? I have a headache."

"The doctor said it was body aches. He asked me if you had overexerted yourself recently."

I definitely overdid it when I started learning magic in earnest.

"Gee, there's still a lot to do. I have to talk to Sarah and Vermont, and I haven't even finished preparing for the wedding..."

But he didn't think it would collapse overnight like this.

"Don't think about anything until you're all better."

He blinked his cloudy eyelids due to the still-lingering heat and spoke.

"That might be a little difficult."

"Just because you take a few days off doesn't mean everything will go wrong. You've been working hard to prepare for the wedding."

Kael sighed as if something was confusing and continued speaking.

"Don't worry about it from the beginning. I was afraid there might be something you didn't like."

"You paid enough attention. Thanks to that. I had almost nothing to do."

I slowly shook my head at Kael, who was blaming himself.

Then, I suddenly noticed that he was at eye level with me, who was lying down, so I lowered my head and was surprised.

Kael was kneeling on the hard floor.

"Since when have you been like that? Oh my God, your legs must hurt."

"It's okay."

As he said that, the hand that removed his cold sweat-soaked hair was gentle.

Ironically, seeing things like that made me think that I shouldn't rest even more.

"I said I didn't have much time..."

I whispered so quietly that he couldn't hear it unless he listened. It was because I didn't want to speak out loud and my head hurt.

"You have time left. I don't want to waste even a single day."

"You're treating someone like a terminally ill patient."

"But that's right."

Kael came closer as I spoke in a crawling voice.

At first, I was often afraid of lake-like eyes because I couldn't tell the depth.

Now I see the sunlight that only I can find within it.

"I said a year, not long after you came here."

"Yes, I did."

"Look at what you have done in one season called summer."

In fact, after the auction, my self-esteem had fallen, knowingly or unknowingly.

Somehow, I've gotten the job done, but I don't know if I'll be able to finish it well.

There seem to be many people who support the Duke, and the foundation seems to be strong.

Time is passing, but if this continues and I cannot save Kael.....

"It was a series of amazing events, Enrica."

Kael seemed to have read my mind and spoke in a sweet and gentle voice.

"Three months ago, not many people even remembered your name. But now there are always invitations spiled up there."

"..."

"I remember when you first showed me your magical powers, and now you are a wizard skilled enough to protect me."

Kael patted my shoulder while reciting in detail what I had done.

"Your maid and I are still here thanks to you."

Even so, Sarah, you stopped me from leaving.

"Why you?"

Kael opened his mouth like someone who expected to be asked that question.

"I am now a person who lives with you as my reason for living."

I felt strange at the immediate answer without any hesitation and rolled my eyes.

"If you keep saying that, I'll think you're serious."

"That's true."

His eyes are a shimmering blue color as if a small stone has fallen into them.

'I think I can prove that Kael is sincere just by looking at his eyes.'

"So you can take a break for a while."

Did I become bold for no reason because of my pain?

After hearing Kael's words, I moistened my dry lips and then licked my tongue.

"How can I do that, to what extent? Can I interpret it?"

This time, he seemed to pause a little, and the hand that was patting me became stiff.

After a long thought, what came out of Kael's lips were ambiguous words.

"Let's talk once you get better."

I have never been as upset about my physical condition as I am now. I wanted to retort something, but now wasn't a good time to hear the cracked voice coming out of my mouth.

I just covered myself with a blanket and lay down pretending to pout.

Although I said it was pretending, I was only half serious.

Now, it was difficult to be fooled by the man's friendly attitude towards everyone.

“Um, Enri?”

As I listened to Kael's embarrassed voice, I closed my eyes again.

'It seems like the medicine is really strong....'

And a few hours later.

When I opened my eyes again, there was something unexpected in the dark room.
