TVTLQ - Chapter 64
The Villainess Wants To Live Quietly
The only time I said I would be away was last week, and then he came to work a week later.
It's not something I can say anything about since it was voluntary work from the beginning.
But that wasn't the only strange thing.
He was noticeably quiet. To a bloody extent.
It was definitely an unusual day.
During our meeting, as usual, I told him how Blanc came to receive the patronage of Prince Borsha.
However, I could not mention the existence of Viktor Cerba carelessly, so I omitted it.
But Mr. Dominic, who heard my whole story.
"Is that so. That's good."
All I got was a reaction like a soggy cola and that was the end. I thought he would definitely be happy about it as if it were his own work.
"..."
I glanced at Mr. Dominic.
Dominic, who was just quietly doing his job, felt awkward. He always works hard, but he usually talks to me and asks me various things.
Opinions on the recent market, opinions on other trading companies, especially Alter Trading Company, and many other things.
In fact, I rarely worked like I did today.
Crunch, crunch,
The fountain pen in his hand moved quickly. Even at this moment, the hands writing the report are very fast. It was as if he was saying that he would go back once this work was over.
I finally had no choice but to ask.
"Dominic, did anything happen today?"
Mr. Dominic made eye contact with me.
The silver-gray eyes behind the round glasses are subtly sunken. He answered dryly.
"No."
"But why..."
Why do you seem so strangely angry at me?
I shyly lowered my gaze.
He said no, so why bother asking again?
But I was too worried. The atmosphere is very different from usual, but I don't know why.
I tried to focus on work again, but once my attention was distracted, I couldn't concentrate.
Finally, I jumped up from my seat.
As I approached the desk where he was sitting, Mr. Dominic looked up.
I took the fountain pen from his right hand, which had a ring on it. As I put it in his pencil holder, his eyebrows rose behind his glasses.
"Why are you doing that?"
"Should we just go out and have fun today?"
When I suggested going out, his expressionless face became incontinent.
"Isn't there still work left to do?"
"It's not something that needs to be finished today. You're always been busy. You need to take a day to rest and recharge."
And it's painful to see Dominic sinking like this. I don't know what's going on, but he looks upset, so I need to comfort him.
"Come on, get dressed. Please pack your bags."
"No, wait...!"
"Uh huh, no refusal. No rebuttal. The remaining time is spent outside. This is today's schedule decided by me, Dominic's employer."
I took Dominic and left the room.
“Please come back, Vice President.”
Annie saw me off as I dragged him along.
As I came out of the upper building, a pleasant breeze blew. I spoke to Dominic with a refreshed face.
"Wow, when I think about it, it's been a long time since I went out for a reason other than work. Where should we start? I think it's still early for lunch. Is there somewhere you want to go?"
"I have no intention of playing..."
"Oh, right. I can go there. Please follow me."
Yeah, I don't take rejection. Dominic needs to play with me today. As an employer, it is my duty to soothe my employees' depression.
***
The place I took Dominic to was a nearby ranch.
"Hello."
"Oh, are you here?"
"What about Lizzy?"
"Yes. But you didn't come alone today?"
"Yes. Please prepare two."
The owner said he understood my request and left. Dominic, who had been surprised ever since he found out that the destination was a ranch, asked me.
"Why did you come here?"
"I'm going horseback riding. I thought riding a horse would make you feel a little better."
"You can't ride a horse, are you?"
"That's right. So, I've been practicing since that day. I think I'll have to get used to it by now."
Because I'm busy with work, I can't come often, but I visit about two or three times a week.
Actually, it was in the mansion too. I had many knights to teach me.
'Oh my, lady. You need to straighten your back. Straighten your back!'
'You shouldn't ride like that!'
But whenever I try to practice even a little, they give me a lot of admonitions. I quit because I thought it would be better to just practice quietly and separately.
"Hi, Lizzie. Have you been well?"
After greeting the white horse, I climbed into the saddle using the riding stand.
Mr. Dominic looked at me in shock as I climbed onto the horse without anyone's help.
Ahem, even though it's like this, I've been practicing quite a bit.
I took the reins with a slightly proud expression.
"Come on. Take a turn."
At my urging, Dominic got on the horse right next to me.
The ranch was quite large for one in the capital. Even so, it is much smaller than the ranch built on the vast plains on the outskirts. At least it wasn't a bad place for a beginner like me to practice or train a horse.
"It's good to be outside, right?"
"Yes, I see."
Was coming to ride a horse the right answer?
Dominic's expression appears to have become more relaxed. Even though he could have run faster, he rode slowly to match me.
I smiled slightly at the consideration evident in his actions. As expected, Mr. Dominic is a kind person. So I hoped that the kind Dominic would not be upset with me.
I wanted to tell him that I am always on Dominic's side.
I began speaking cautiously.
"Mr. Dominic. Actually, I'm a very suspicious person."
I felt Dominic turn his head and look at me. A cool breeze passed by my cheek.
"Maybe it's because I was betrayed by someone I trusted once, so it's become a habit. Doubt and doubt again. Knock on the stone bridge until it collapses. People around me told me not to do that because it made me tired, but once it became a habit, it wasn't easy to change."
It's a habit I developed from the moment my younger brother stole my seal and ID card, wrote a private loan in my name, and then ran away.
No matter how much of a troublemaker and trash he was, there was a part of him that I mentally relied on, knowingly or unknowingly, as he was my only remaining blood relative. But after taking on a huge debt, trust was completely shattered.
After that, it became difficult to trust whoever the other person was.
Just as I was constantly suspicious of Mr. Dominic, who approached me with interest in my business.
"But I think it's been fixed a little bit now. I met a very nice person a few months ago and now I trust him. Do you know who that is?"
"..."
"This is Mr. Dominic. Someone I trust."
I turned my head and looked at him. It was the first time I looked to the side instead of straight ahead while riding a horse. I thought it would be scary, but it wasn't as scary as I thought.
I made eye contact with him and continued speaking.
"So, if there's anything I did that made Dominic sad, please tell me. I'll fix it right away. I want to become a person who can receive Dominic's trust as much as I trust you."
Mr. Dominic, who made eye contact, spoke softly. He looked like he wanted to say something.
I waited calmly.
There seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction that he wants to tell me.
Well, there were a lot of things that bothered me. I've always thought of him as Calix and committed various acts...
"Sigh."
He suddenly sighed. Then he asked,
"Why didn't you tell me the story about the Prince in advance?"
I blinked. Prince?
The fact she told him about the betrayal she experienced and not trusting people but he will later on mess with her business—while pretending to be a business partner—just to get her attention?! Is gonna hurt his chances with her sooo bad. Like idk how he will fix his relationship with her once it all comes out. Calix keeps digging a deeper n deeper hole and I really dk how he will get out.
ReplyDeleteThat's soo true
DeleteOh calix dude........you are really screwing things up with her.
