The Villainess Wants To Live Quietly

Due to Rexard and Calix's schedule, the promise of a hunt that required them to go far into the forest where the game lived did not come true.

However, Calix encountered an opportunity to answer his questions in an unexpected place.

"Oh, hi." 

Icarus, who was lounging like a cat sitting on a sunny cafe terrace, recognized Calix and waved his hand.

In front of him were already three completely empty glasses and a plate with only cake crumbs left on it.

"Where are you going?"

"Yes. I have an appointment."

A strange look appeared in Calix's calm eyes. He was happy about this chance meeting.

He had a business appointment soon, but there was still time. After completing the calculation in an instant, he naturally sat down across from Icarus.

A waiter in uniform came over to take our order.

"I would like a cup of coffee, please."

"I have ice mocha." 

"Have you already drank it?"

 "So it's not there now."

Calix shrugged his shoulders. He guess that kind of thing was good.

If only he could solve the question that had been on his mind for the past week.

Not long after, the waiter brought him coffee with a subtle scent and an iced mocha topped with whipped cream.

Icarus hummed and took the new drink.

Calix, who was reading the mood while taking a sip of coffee, slowly opened his mouth.

"That day was unexpected. I didn't expect to attend the banquet." 

Icarus, who was eating cream with a bar spoon, opened his eyes round. He said, wiping the whipped cream from the corner of his mouth with his tongue.

"I have to go. It's the 'Emperor's' order."

"Well, you absolutely follow His Majesty's orders."

"That's right. I'm a  Emperor's Dog. Wow." 

Icarus realistically imitated the sound of a dog barking.

He must have heard that sound, but the sound of a real dog growling came from somewhere.

Icarus chuckled and laughed. 

"It was more fun than I thought, huh? I meet the golden girl I thought I lost again. She was okay."

 "Golden?" 

"There is such a thing. What's more? I sat here because I wanted to say something. Do you need my help again?"

Icarus grinned, cupping his chin with the back of his hand. Calix said, feigning indifference.

"I need to check something."

"What?"

"Have you had any contact with Pierre recently?"

"Pierre?" 

Icarus' head tilted. It seemed like he had no idea who Pierre was.

"This is the blonde, intelligent and beautiful woman wearing a red dress that I met at the last banquet."

"Hmm."

Even with Calix's explanation, Icarus had no idea. He said after thinking for a while. 

"I don't know. Who is that?"

"Is that true?"

"Huh. Why? Is this the girl I should meet?"

"I'll tell you when it's decided exactly."

Calix interrupted the conversation meaningfully, as if the matter was currently being discussed.

 "Acting alone is prohibited."

They even added a warning for fear that Icarus might approach Rosenia without permission.

"Okay, okay."

Icarus waved his hand as if to stop nagging. Calix's eyes narrowed as he watched the other person's reaction.

'Didn't she really visit the Magic Tower?'

He was certain that Rosenia had visited the Magic Tower due to the foreign scent that stimulated his sense of smell.;But Icarus did not remember Rosenia at all.

It's as if he didn't even care about that kind of woman from the beginning.

Icarus was a dangerous man to be close to. He was the kind of man who could swear obedience and at the same time plunge a knife into someone's stomach.

It could be dangerous if she got involved, but it was really fortunate that the two people had never met separately.

 "....Thank goodness?"

Calix, who was sighing in relief, was startled.

His concern must not have been about such a friendly resolution. At most, it would have been a sense of crisis that the talent he coveted might be taken away by someone else.

Wasn't that why he kept the fact that he was approaching Rosenia a secret from his close friend Rexed?

Because of the nervousness that Rexed, who had become interested, might discover Rosenia's true color Calix took a sip of his slightly coo led coffee.

The question that had been bothering him was resolved, but as if laughing at it, another annoyance remained.

The silence was about to get longer.

"Oh my, Duke."

A voice like a jade bead rolling on a silver platter pulled Calix out of his thoughts. Calix slowly raised his head.

Estelle Montrose was approaching the cafe where Calix and Icarus were sitting. Behind her was Derek Gardner, an escort knight. He had a lot of luggage, as if she had been shopping.

Estelle's eyes lit up when she recognized that the person with Calix was Icarus.

"The Magic Tower Lord was also there. Hello."

"You know?"

"Sure. I saw you at the last banquet."

Estelle laughed as if it was fun.

When Estelle smiled, everyone around her naturally focused their attention on her. Estelle, who received a lot of attention from people, shined in herself.

Estelle said, her cheeks blushing.

"Can I sit down too?"

"Yes,I'm fine."

"...... Of course."

Calix nodded slowly.

After receiving permission from the two people, Estelle sat down witha grin. She asked with a curious face.

"I never thought I'd see you two at a cafe like this. Do you meet together often?"

"Huh. We are close."

Icarus spoke arbitrarily. Calix noticed him, but he didn't even pretend to look.

"Oh my, really? I'm jealous. I don't have any friends of the same sex, so it feels really good to see people who are close friends."

"You have no friends? Why?"

"I don't know. Maybe it's because I still lack a lot."

"Miss, don't say things like that. You don't lack anything."

Derek, who was standing there without any presence, spoke quietly. Estelle's face stiffened slightly at his sudden intrusion.

But she quickly adjusted her expression and smiled sweetly.

"Thank you, Derek. I'm glad you support me." 

"It's not cheering, it's the truth."

"Ugh, I know how you feel. Oh my, but the waiter here doesn't even come to take orders. Could Derek please go and order for me? Even for  those of these two gentlemen."

"I am done."

"I have ice chocolate."

"Did you hear? If you have a snack to go with it, please choose it together. I think hibiscus tea will do. Then please do me a favor."

"... All right."

Derek, who was carrying her luggage, went inside the store to place an order. Icarus, who was sitting awkwardly, leaning against the back of his chair, sneered.

"I don't know about your girl friend, but it seems like you have a lot of friends who can help you."

"Derek is just a bodyguard given to me by my father."

"Hmm."

Calix stopped trying to stop IcaruI felt that it would be better for him to leave quickly rather than get involved in this conversation. But the ensuing conversation held him back.

"That's why I need female friends even more. If possible, someone of the same age as me.... Ah! Now that I think about it, who is the woman you were talking to on National Foundation Day?"

For a moment, Calix's mouth stiffened slightly, but soon a soft voice came out.

"She is the daughter of Marquis Pierre. It's been a long time since she recuperated because she wasn't feeling well. It was probably the first time she attended a banquet in a long time." 

"Oh, really? Sounds similar to me! She seemed close to the Duke, so I guess you knew her well. Can you introduce me?"

"Well. I'm not a friendly with the Lady either."

Calix smiled as beautifully as a picture. But there was a hint of irritation buried beneath his gentle smile. This was meant to cut off Estelle's unnecessary interest. But saying this made he feel like he was admitting that unpleasant fact.

Estelle slumped her shoulders. 

"Don't you know her too,  Lord Magic tower?"

"I don't really remember who that person is."

"Is it so......? It's a shame."

In contrast to her gloomy voice, a faint smile that could not be hidden appeared on her lips. And this smile was quickly caught in the eyes of the three men with her.
