IDMH - Chapter 34
I Decided My Husband
"Weren't you sleeping?"
I thought he was still asleep because he didn't move at all, but he wasn't.
I asked, but there was no answer. Rather, Perdes stuck his neck in and crouched.
"Your Highness?"
"..."
"Are you in any pain?"
Is that why he does that?
Now that I think about it, I think I said I was wrong earlier.
What did I do wrong all of a sudden?
"Your Highness."
Perdes' condition seemed strange, so I went closer to check. That's when I got on the bed and tried to touch his shoulder.
Whoosh, whoop-
Perdes jumped up, laid me down on the bed, and climbed on top of me.
"Die. You must die."
Then he looked at me with eyes dripping with venom and strangled me. His grip was so strong that it was surprising how much strength came from such a shabby body.
Moreover, Perdes' eyes were out of focus. His golden eyes were mesmerizing, but his mind seemed to be thinking something else entirely.
"You must die, you must die."
"Your Highness..."
"You mean to die."
It seems like my voice isn't reaching him at all. Then there is nothing we can do. Forgive my rudeness, Your Highness.
I apologized briefly and subdued Perdes by striking a vital point that Sir Olven had taught me a long time ago.
"Ugh."
He fell sideways with a single scream. While he was unconscious from the sudden shock, I quickly checked on Perdes' condition.
His pupils were still dilated, and considering his abnormal reaction earlier and other things, it seemed like he had taken some type of hallucinogenic drug.
The person who did that was probably the Emperor.
Unlike the first life, it seems that the Emperor's target was Perdes, not me. Or maybe they targeted both.
I knew the Emperor was insane, but I didn't know he was this crazy. I wanted to make this matter public, but even if I tried, I couldn't rip out even a strand of the Emperor's hair.
Because there is no clear evidence that the Emperor drugged Perdes. In fact, I could have been falsely accused of feeding it to him.
"Sorry. Sorry. I did everything wrong. So don't hit me..."
Perdes, who had just come to his senses, curled up in a ball and began to shed tears. I need to save him, but how can I do so?
There is an antidote in my mouth, but it is a different type of antidote, so I don't know if it can solve Perdes' current situation.
"Please, please......"
Still, let's give it a try first.
Seeing that he's fine, it seems like this antidote is working. I decided to do it because I thought it was better than leaving Perdes like this.
The antidote placed inside the molar had melted and become mushy. However, if I touched it with my finger and it completely broke, it would be a big problem, so I carefully pulled it out with my tongue.
Then, I placed my lips over his parted lips, pushed the melted antidote into his mouth, and let it fall.
Perdes, who was out of his mind, kindly gulped down whatever I fed him.
After seeing that his throat was swollen and that there was nothing left in his mouth, I got as far away from Perdes as possible, hoping to find the antidote. And waited for him to come to his senses.
Perdes trembled like an aspen and mumbled for a while, then became quiet.
Did he fall asleep?
As I approached cautiously to check, Perdes suddenly raised his upper body.
"This place.... where am I?"
His tearful face was full of puzzlement as he looked around like a meerkat. The eyes that soon reached me were clearly in focus.
"Young Lady?"
And fortunately, it looks like he recognizes me, so it looks like it has an antidote.
"Are you out of your mind?"
"Are you out of your mind? What does that mean?"
"Literally. Your Highness was out of his mind just now."
Perdes blinked slowly as if he didn't understand what I was saying.
"...!"
He must have suddenly remembered something and was so startled that he covered his mouth with both hands. The eyes, which had expanded to their limits, were filled with astonishment.
"I-I.....!"
Why do I only think about that place?
When things got a little annoying. I scratched my head and explained.
"It was an unavoidable action to administer an antidote, so please don't misunderstand."
"..."
"I happened to be hiding the antidote in my mouth. That..."
"...... What you mean is that the Lady knew that the Emperor would do this to me?"
Perdes asked, cutting me off. Although he looked like a young boy, his voice sounded like that of an adult who was well past the age of transformation, so I felt a bit of a disconnect.
"Say it. Did you know everything?"
"It's not that I knew about it, but I expected it might happen."
"You expected it?"
"Yes. I expected the former Emperor to drug me and prepare an antidote."
Just like it was in my first life.
I was skeptical because Perdes was young and it was an engagement party, not a wedding, but there was no harm in preparing it, so I asked Sir Aldor to get an antidote.
"But I never thought that a spark would fly to Your Highness."
"..."
"I'm sorry, Your Royal Highness."
When I bowed my head and sincerely apologized, Perdes held up his hand.
"It's okay. It's not for the Young Lady to apologize. Rather, the Lady gave me an antidote...."
Perdes blushed brightly and covered his mouth before speaking.
"Why are you doing this, Your Highness?"
"... Are you okay, Lady?"
What do you mean it's okay? Oh, perhaps?
"If that's what you're saying, I don't think I took anything, and I took the antidote beforehand, so it's okay."
"..."
"Your Highness, it doesn't seem like what you took was medicine, and the antidote seems to have worked well, so you don't have to worry."
Perdes looked at me silently, as if he didn't believe what I was saying, but then he sighed and turned his head.
"I shouldn't say anything."
"Yes?"
"Nothing."
Perdes shook his head as if he was annoyed, then covered his head with the blanket and lay down. Ever since I found out that Perdes had been acting like an idiot for 1 6 years and fooling everyone, I never thought he was normal, but today he seemed even stranger.
'Has the drug's effects not fully worn off yet?'
I guess so. Even if you take an antidote, it doesn't mean you will be detoxified right away. It took some time.
I thought it would be better for both of us if I didn't touch him for now, so I laid down next to him without saying anything.
Even next to him, the bed was big enough for several people to lie down on, so there was quite a bit of distance between him and me.
"..."
As soon as I laid my head on the pillow, Perdes was startled and raised his upper body. His pupils were bigger than before and he looked quite embarrassed.
"W-what, why are you lying here?"
"Then where do I sleep? There is only one bed."
"..."
Perdes pursed his lips as if he had nothing to say, then picked up a pillow. I looked at Perdes' back as he raised his upper body and got out of bed.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to sleep on the sofa."
"There's no sofa here."
Every royal family's bedroom had a small sofa, but this one didn't have one.
It wasn't something that wasn't there before, but the Emperor must have removed it so that Perdes and I could sleep in the same bed. Anyway, it's strangely detailed.
"..."
Perdes was frozen when he saw with his own eyes that there was no sofa. His eyes, which had no place to go, were constantly rolling and seemed to be thinking about how to solve this situation.
There is only one answer anyway, so why worry so much?
"Please sleep here."
Perdes' lips parted as I spoke, pointing to the spot where he had been lying just a moment ago.
"Are you saying you want to sleep in the same bed with me now?"
"Do you not like it?"
"This isn't a matter of whether you like it or not!"
"Then what is the problem?"
"Uh."
When I asked, tilting my head as if I was genuinely curious, Perdes smiled and touched his forehead. Deep wrinkles appeared between the eyebrows.
I need to stop teasing him. I thought he would get really angry if I teased him anymore, so I raised my hands up to shoulder height and said.
"I know. We're not siblings or family, and we're of different genders, but you probably don't want to sleep in the same bed with me under the same blanket."
".... I didn't say I didn't like it."
"Then let's make it burdensome."
Even though he changed the words to what he wanted, Perdes' eyebrows tilted as if he was still dissatisfied.
"I also feel burdened about sleeping in the same bed as Your Highness. But there is no other choice."
If there was a sofa, I wouldn't have climbed into bed in the first place.
"Still, if it were anyone other than Your Highness, I would have chosen to just spend the night with my eyes wide open."
"What does it mean?"
"What does it mean? It means that I trust you."
This time, as if he liked my answer, the deep wrinkles between his eyebrows smoothed out. He put down the pillow he was hugging and sat down on the edge of the bed.
To think it's resolved this way, he's still a kid. I laughed.
So, sleeping in the same bed with him felt less burdensome.
As my eyelids became heavier and heavier, I felt a rush of water. The fatigue weighing on my shoulders led me into the world of sleep.
I covered my mouth, yawned, and put my head on the pillow. As I lay on the soft pillow, I fell even more asleep.
"I'll sleep first."
"If... do.... together...."
I thought Perdes said something, but I was too sleepy to hear it. When I wake up tomorrow, I'll ask what he said before I go to sleep.
If it's important, he'll tell me.
I simply thought, casting darkness over my tired eyes.
Soon, a large number of beasts came rushing towards me, and my mind became blurred.
