IDEFYEM - Chapter 55

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

"What do you mean, the fabric of the dress leaked?"

"Look at this!"

The maid, who was very tearful, held out today's newspaper that I had brought.

Come to think of it, I was busy this morning and couldn't read the newspaper.

I hastily picked up the newspaper she handed me and skimmed through its contents.

"Princess Wintersoar holds a wedding as extravagant as royalty!"

The illustrations were drawn very carefully to describe the fabric of the dress, and even the title gives off a sense of malice.

When I looked at my serious eyes, Sarah came running next to me and said.

"Oh my, who... But now is the time when the Duke's attention is focused on his business, so wouldn't it be okay?"

"No, exactly the opposite."

The revelation of the Duke's precarious business was now a final topic. It was just barely continuing as no other gossip material appeared.

"But business disclosure is more important than the fabric of the dress..."

"People don't care about that. In fact, it's more like a revelation that should have gone unnoticed originally became famous because of the Duke's name."

I looked at the situation objectively and explained it, which seemed to be a pretty bad situation.

"People who are tired of boring accidents getting attention will all flock to this. Especially gossip magazines."

When I finished talking, I remembered something I had forgotten. The tailor, who must have been listening to our entire conversation.

Sarah and I simultaneously raised our heads and looked at his complexion.

"Oh my."

Sarah muttered in a sad voice as if it was already too late. The tailor fluttered his abundant eyelashes and fell backward as if in a daze.

The good news was that there was a pile of soft cloth lying there.

Sarah and the maid helped the poor tailor and laid him down on a comfortable bed. The tailor, who woke up about ten minutes later, was shocked and said this first.

"I-I'm not!"

"I know. It's a natural fact, so please relax about that."

I said with a sigh.

"Besides, it's us who owe the apology."

The culprit was obvious anyway. It must be the Duke, or Martha who received the Duke's orders.

"I just heard that a maid from a family named Marie packed her bags and ran away late at night yesterday. He was in charge of cleaning My Lady's living room every day she came."

"Then..."

"She probably handed over the information in exchange for a lot of money and then quickly ran away."

I was very embarrassed because it was completely unexpected. However, I was somehow able to speak calmly in front of a tailor who was more surprised than me.

For him, his pride in his job and his future will be at stake.

"It would be a good idea to ask the newspaper company to collect it even now..."

"Not only is it impossible, but I will not grant your favor easily."

I shook my head at the pale-faced tailor's suggestion.

"You were planning to attract people's attention by revealing this dress for the first time at the wedding, right?"

I asked and the tailor nodded.

After a long period of deliberation and silence, I cautiously opened my mouth.

"Now that it's like this, keeping secrets is just like spilled water. But I have a way."

"Well, what is that?"

"Even if you can't keep it a secret, you can probably draw a lot more attention."

The tailor thought for a moment with a dull look on his face, then nodded.

"It would be great if there was such a method."

He is a surprisingly strong person. I also smiled to reassure Sarah and the tailor.

I don't know if this will work...

"The only information leaked by the runaway maid would be the fabric of the dress."

I picked up the fabric for the dress from the tailor's luggage.

Jewels as small as dust particles were embedded in the flowing fabric and sparkled like the sea under the sunlight. It was definitely a beautiful and unique design that I had never seen anywhere before.

"If that information is left as is, the mystery will disappear and people's interest will slowly fade. This is the worst-case scenario where nothing happens."

It was an idea I came up with in a hurry, so I wasn't really sure at first.

"To prevent that, we need to maintain topicality and maintain interest."

Somehow, as we continued talking, I had a pretty good feeling.

"Then what should I do?"

"We are leaking information ourselves."

The tailor and Sarah exchanged a puzzled look with each other and then asked back.

"Why are you doing that?"

"Think about it carefully. In tomorrow's newspaper, we will reveal the upper body silhouette of the dress in the same spot."

His voice became increasingly confident.

"And the day after tomorrow, we will reveal the silhouette of the lower half of the dress."

Sarah made an interesting expression as if she had a little sense of it.

"It's closer to a kind of promotional strategy. People will now be more curious about the appearance of the finished dress than about the fabric."

"..."

"Then once every three days, then once a week. We reveal the accessories and shoes to be worn with the dress."

When I imagined what would happen if the plan was successful, even I became a little happy.

"The ladies will be desperate to know its identity."

The newspaper article seemed to criticize extravagant marriages, but...

The nobles of this era were a people crazy about vanity and luxury.

"There will be tailors who imitate and try to come up with similar designs first. But will it really be more beautiful than your dress?"

"... No."

The tailor answered with great pride and confidence.

I finished with a smile that revealed my neat teeth.

"When interest peaks and is slowly quenched by imitations, the most perfect dress you have ever seen appears. At my wedding."

Then, clap, clap...

And small applause began to be heard. I said it as if I couldn't stop him.

"Don't do it because it's embarrassing, Sarah."

She was clapping her hands with a playful yet relieved expression.

"But it's really great. How did you come up with something like this?"

 "Really... Really."

Now even the tailor has helped.

"It is a great honor to be able to make a dress for someone like you."

I felt the tips of my ears heating up from the excessive praise.

"Okay, that's enough, I'll go find a way to get the newspaper company involved. You two, please prepare the silhouettes that will be revealed tomorrow."

"Yes, Commander."

When Sarah saluted like a soldier receiving orders, the tailor, who had been frozen the whole time, burst into laughter. It seemed like he was worried because he thought it was his own mistake.

After seeing that and feeling relieved, I opened the door to the living room and went out into the hallway.

I was anxious and tried to speed up my pace rather than looking ahead, but before I could even take a step, I crashed into something.

"Ouch."

I raised my head, gently rubbing the top of my head that was touching something hard.

Soon my voice brightened with joy.

"Kael!"

“Hello, Enri.”

He greeted me, looking happy despite the sudden attack on his solar plexus. There was a bit of embarrassment in the voice that followed.

"Actually, I heard a story coming from inside. I thought about knocking because I didn't want to be eavesdropped on, but I was also curious about what was going to happen next."

"How was it? Do you think this is a good idea?"

Instead of getting angry like he seemed concerned, I asked with a smile.

"It's the perfect way to solve a crisis. I want to propose again."

"Now that you're talking, I guess I should have asked you from the beginning. I think we might have come up with a better way."

He said, shaking his head at his sly speaking skills.

"That's right, can you help me recruit the newspaper company?"

I asked a little nervously. This was because it was the most important part of the plan and one that could not be solved alone.

"Of course, I was thinking about it."

"Is it possible?"

"Why am I here, Enri? It's for you."

Kael shrugged his shoulders and continued.

"I was on my way here after hearing the news from the beginning. It's largely my fault for not managing the users properly."

"Did you even find out who was behind it? It looks like the Duke's family had a hand in it."

"Maybe."

As my sighing became deeper, Kael pronounced each syllable with force.

"Don't worry. The culprit will pay, and tomorrow everything will be as you wish."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because I'm going to make it happen."

The man's voice had the power to elicit trust.

Suddenly, it occurred to me that there were about three weeks left until the wedding. Even if it was a loveless relationship, it was a time when we had to trust each other more than ever.

I thought again of the crazy idea I had yesterday.

'Strangely, their faces and voices keep overlapping.'

And I impulsively said the favor I was planning to ask Tristan.

"Kael, I... I want to see the portrait of the Grand Duke Kronhardt."
