DYBAR - Chapter 64 < Unless All Of This Is A Coincidence >

Do Your Best And Regret It

"Do you not like it?"

It was only when I heard a creeping voice that I suddenly came to my senses. The child was looking at me with an anxious face, wondering what would happen if she was rejected.

"I like it,"

I said, shaking my head.

"Because it's so pretty."

"Really?"

I said as I accepted the thread anklet, and the child smiled brightly. I stroked the child's head affectionately, seeing her cute expression of happiness and even sighing.

The child, surprised by the warmth, looked at the angel-like girl. The child's bright smile was so beautiful that she liked the anklet she gave me as a gift, so the proud child started talking.

"I'm really glad that you said I'm pretty. My mom will be happy. She always said she was grateful to you."

"Can you tell her I'm grateful too?"

The child nodded with a red face. One of the children said enviously.

"Even my mom can make it! I also want to give it to you as a gift later!"

I laughed a little. Meanwhile, the children looked around Jeniv Street as if they were excited about what was happening here recently.

"As expected, it's a good thing you came to Yeniv! I can meet the Lady like this and just hang out during the day without having to wear a robe anymore."

"That's right! Me too! I came here with great difficulty because my aunt said she could trust this place."

"I came here because an old man kept talking about it, and I love it!"

Grandfather? Did that grandfather also have green eyes?

But before I could even entertain my doubts, the topic of the children quickly changed. A soft smile appeared on my face as I heard their chattering voice.

All the people on Jeniv Street who were glancing at that scene sighed in relief and laughed to themselves. Even if she had the same green eyes, they thought I wouldn't receive a thread anklet like that since I was definitely a noble who only used good things.

While people were admiring the way they looked at me more preciously, I had other thoughts and played with my thread anklets. No matter how I looked at it, it was very similar to my mother's belongings, which I had not seen since being taken away by my nanny fourteen years ago.

I searched from the remote streets of the archipelago to the handicraft workshops, but I had never seen anything similar to this thread anklet. I thought the only thing green-eyed people had in common was their eye color. I would have guessed that these thread anklets were only made by green-eyed people. Could it be that there are other secrets related to my birth or people with green eyes?

I thought vaguely. But my thoughts didn't last long. The feel of the thread anklet wrapped around mu fingers reminded me of my mother, who would brush my hair when I was very young. She was a mother as beautiful as a flower. She was a mother who always sang sweet songs like a canary.

I searched her memory. What was the pitch of the song my mother was singing?

As soon as I thought about it, my sweet voice like a canary began to sing a small note.

"What's this?"

"Isn't it a song?"

"If I do that, my mom will scold me."

The children, who kept saying things as if they were unfamiliar with it, gradually quieted their mouths. And it was time to look at me with longing eyes.

"Who is this? Someone sing a song!"

Suddenly someone shouted through the window. When their eyes met, I saw the woman's eyes flutter as she peered out the window. She looked as if she was scared.

The woman's face turned gray when she saw me. When the helpless woman came out into the street, several people around me came up to her. Everyone seemed uncomfortable with this situation and couldn't raise their heads.

"Sorry. I didn't even know you did it."

"Is singing prohibited in Yeniv?"

"No. We were just trying to prevent any unexpected situation. So...."

The person speaking looked at the children for a moment. It was only when the children, who were tilting their heads as if they had no idea what she was talking about, had moved away at someone's call that the woman continued to speak.

"They say we are the bloodline of dancers. In turn, we stayed away from singing and dancing. It could be worse,"

The woman paused for a moment and looked at me

"Because we can get attention."

I also had a good idea of what the woman had omitted. Violence, swearing, or worse contempt.

"I'll just go in now."

The woman bowed to me and entered the house. Looking at her back, I suddenly remembered what Dean had said before.

"Aren't you the only person who is not persecuted by people just because you have green eyes?"

Contempt is so solid that even singing is not allowed. Prejudice that it is a dancer's bloodline.

".... You didn't even have the freedom to sing just because of your eye color."

I muttered softly. And I looked at Jeniv Street. It hit me like a wave that it wasn't just the street layout that needed to be changed. The calm green eyes looked at the people on the street and the children who were now running around with their eyes exposed.

At that moment, a strange thought appeared in my mind. Among the dancers, there are definitely those with green eyes. But not all dancers have green eyes. Nevertheless, green eyes were branded throughout Franz's empire as 'the blood of a lowly dancer'. However, green- eyed people are extremely wary of singing and dancing for fear of attracting negative attention.

I once again played with the thread anklet I had wrapped in my palm. It was a combination that somehow did not fit...

The woman who entered the house, Vicki, sighed and glanced through the window. The Young Lady was looking out into the street with a thoughtful expression on her face. She was fortunate that there was no anger towards her anywhere on the Lady's face. The people on this street, who are extremely sensitive to music, should have known from the moment everyone was quiet that it was a song sung by a Young Lady. The only green eyes that can sing freely.

Vicky, who was looking outside with a mixture of admiration and awe, felt a presence and turned around.

"Grandma?"

Her grandmother, who was always in a dazed state due to her old age, couldn't believe she got up from the table and came all the way here. And for the first time in years, with a gun in his eye. Before she could express her surprise, Vicky discovered that her grandmother had pursed her lips and was saying something.

Vicki, concentrating on the shape of her mouth, imitated her grandmother's words.

"No, can open it? What are you opening?"

But instead of answering Vicky's question, the Grandmother looked out the window.

She smiled warmly, as if she had heard good news for the first time in a very long time.

It was a warm, sunny afternoon, but there was no leisure of late spring in the office of Tiase Palace.

'Summer Banquet' documents and attendance replies piled up on the desk. From budget allocation to concept. Maria Ethel, who was looking at what she had to do, eventually lost her temper.

"Why do so many things have to be done like this!"

These were inappropriate words and actions for the Prince's fiancée. Baroness Sophron, who had sent out her ladies-in- waiting beforehand, silenced her for a moment. If she was really saying this with all her might, Baroness Sophron would have understood.

There was really a lot to worry about at the Princess's summer banquet. But Maria Ethel did nothing. She couldn't even come up with a concept for the banquet. It is common to send invitations with at least an idea of what kind of banquet it is, but due to too much delay, this time was an exception and the invitations were sent first.

However, it is difficult to even organize the attendance response.

Baroness Sopron, who had been holding back, finally parted her lips.

There really isn't much time left until the summer banquet.

"When Her Royal Highness comes soon, we will have to prepare for a tea party right away. It would be a good idea to refer to the summer banquet held last year..."

"Are you telling me to just refer to last year's banquet?"

A sharp voice cut off Baroness Sophron's words. Maria's narrowed eyes were filled with venom and glared at Baroness Sophron. She found out whose hands had organized this summer banquet.

How dare she, the proud daughter of Ethel, endure that half- baked banquet!

Maria ruffled her hair in frustration. She thought she had put all her belongings away when it touched her. Wherever she went, traces of that half- illegitimate child remained in this palace. The reason why she should make this summer banquet her engagement party became clearer.

She need to erase all traces of Olivia left in the imperial palace and stamp her place on all nobles of the empire.

"I'm just asking you to do something with this money!"

Maria shouted sharply. This is only the budget to prepare for a week-long banquet. It was not enough money to prepare for a summer banquet or to make the last day her engagement party.

Baroness Sopron responded calmly to the overbearing gaze demanding her explanation.

"... This is the average budget for every summer banquet."

In other words, Olivia Madeleine held a banquet with that much of a budget. Even in the questions she asked, Olivia's story was not left out.

Maria, overcome with humiliation, pursed her lips and checked the attendees of the banquet again. As she was sorting through the people who had not responded, she let out a heavy sigh and muttered softly.

"..Olivia Madeleine."

The only people who couldn't even confirm whether they had received the invitation were the Grand Duke and his wife. It was something that would never happen. Olivia. That lowly half-ass had to come to her banquet.

Come, she had to clearly see with those shallow green eyes who would be better suited to the position of Crown Prince.

Maria's eyes flashed greedily.

Instead of trying to get into the carriage, Leopold looked back at the Emperor's palace with annoyed eyes. He was very dissatisfied with the attitude of Duke Conrad Madeleine, whom he met while attending a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding negotiations with Hefferti.

"I'll check."

When Leopold pointed out that he couldn't contact Olivia, the only response be got was that they would check. Like a parrot, he says the same things as his father.

Anyway, there was nothing he liked about the Duke and his son. Leopold can't believe he's been struggling until now without even being able to appease Olivia. Rather, it seemed that the head of the noble faction, the Duke of Elkin, acted more to suit his tastes.

Leopard frowned and got into the carriage. His hurt feelings rarely come back, his aide, Count Hodges, said politely.

"I will head straight to Tiase Palace."

Tiase Palace.

Leopold's eyes widened as he momentarily thought of the person who would be guarding the palace. The reflection that came to mind was not the back with bright blonde hair, but the back with cold silver hair.

"I guess I'm very tired these days. Just barely....“

Leopold could not bear to continue speaking. Strangely, a feeling of emptiness seemed to be expanding in his chest.
