DYBAR - Chapter 69 < A Young Lady Who Resembles The Honest Vikander >

Do Your Best And Regret It

Jeniv Street on a cool afternoon. Dean looked around. As of yesterday, all the green-eyed people who lived on Jeniv Street moved to an inn on the busy street, Sonnaire Street.

Instead of children always running around on the streets, building materials and equipment were lined up everywhere. It's as if she can start construction right away by just shouting 'start.

In the distance, the architect Shurn led the workers. He, who had completed the final check with the Young Lady a little while ago, opened a large bird's eye view and seemed to be checking the details of the work that would begin tomorrow.

Looking at that scene, Dean swallowed an overwhelming feeling. And he looked back. Now that people had left the streets, the only place where there was any sign of people was a shack with knights standing guard.

Just then, an exclamation came out through the open window of the shack. A soft smile appeared on Dean's face as he glanced inside the window...

"You're really dexterous, Young Lady. Didn't you say this is your first time making thread anklets?"

A small table littered with colorful, fine threads. The women sitting around me widened their eyes.

"This is my first time making thread anklets."

I made a lot of decorations as an errand for the Princess. I chuckled at the thought of old times.

"I can't believe it's your first time. The first time I made one, it took me a week."

"That's right. It's harder to put this together than I thought, but you did it right away. Your skills are excellent."

I felt a little embarrassed by the women's words. I don't know if my skills are really that good, as these words are very kind, but I still ended up making a thread anklet that I really liked.

A thread anklet made of alternating black and red threads. It was my insistence that the seams were colored green. I was worried that the colors wouldn't match, but when I saw the finished product, it was really cool.

When I first said I would make a thread anklet for Edwin, I had no intention of actually making it. After making it like this, I was looking forward to Edwin's reaction when he received the thread anklet. Will he like it or not?

My eyes narrowed as soon as I thought of Edwin. Even the corners of my mouth gently rose without me realizing it. My shiny silver hair and beautiful face. A gentle smile from a Young Lady with the signature elegant and cool vibe.

The women sitting in front were speechless due to the overwhelming beauty. And as we looked at each other, we realized that this moment was an incredible reality. She dared to sit like this face to face with a precious Young Lady whom she could not even make eye contact with at first, and make her thread anklets.

It all started with a word from a Young Lady who came to me two days ago when she was getting ready to leave Jeniv Street.

"I want to make a thread anklet. Can you tell me how?"

The fact that Little Jane gave the Young Lady a thread anklet was already a popular topic on Jeniv Street. But she was satisfied with giving her a gift, she didn't know that the Young Lady would like her real anklets. She was even the flagship when everyone on the street heard her saying that she was wearing it well. Her expression of disbelief must have been evident, as the Young Lady bit down on her article and even lifted the hem of her dress in front of her women.

What was hanging on her pretty ankle was clearly a thread anklet that Little Jane had given her as a gift.

Everyone fell to the ground, from little Jane's mother, who made the thread anklet, to Vicky, who lived with her sick grandmother. She felt like her heart would burst and what would happen if she didn't bow down and express her gratitude.

Not only she is cleaning up the streets of Jeniv, but she is also wearing their gifts without calling it unclean. The girl, who was embarrassed, waited quietly until they calmed down, and the women shouted in unison that they would all teach her how to make thread anklets.

If they make the thread anklet together, she will be able to convey to the Young Lady the gratitude that she did not have the courage to say. But she didn't know that she would learn how to make thread anklets so quickly. It was a time when women looked at each other's eyes and measured the right moment to speak.

Knock. Knock.

With a knock on the door, Dean, who was outside the shack, showed his face through the window.

"Miss. It's time to go."

It's already time to go. I've finally completed one. As I looked at my thread anklet with wistful eyes, Bethany's words suddenly appeared in my mind.

"Miss! You didn't forget about the banquet tonight, right? You have to come early!"

I, who had vehemently opposed the idea of holding a banquet to celebrate the reorganization of the Yeniv division, raised both hands when Edwin said that it was also a banquet for the return of knights who had gone out to suppress beasts on the border of the territory.

As word spread that I was holding a banquet in the main town, I said, a small festival was also held in Vikander territory, centered on the busy street, Sonnaire Street. A festival celebrating urban projects for green-eyed people. It will be in full swing from now on. The women in front would also want to participate in the festival.

With the people of Vikander Territory, who will now be my neighbors for quite a long time.

"...!"

One of the women spoke hastily. Is there anything more to say?

While waiting for me to continue my words, the women looked at each other hesitantly. Then, Vicky, who had been embarrassed by the last time I sang a song, opened her mouth.

"..Thank you, Lady."

I blinked, I knew that people who were shy towards me came up to me like this and started talking to her face to face. I already knew their feelings well.

"Thanks to you, I can continue to stay on Jeniv Street."

"I really feel like I've settled in this Vikander territory now without having to go anywhere else."

"I wanted to say thank you from a long time ago. I can barely tell you now."

As soon as Vicky opened the door, the women started talking one after another. Gratitude was evident in her light green eyes as she looked at me, even as she wiggled her hand.

I pursed my lips. This Vikander is a really strange place. I just did what I wanted to do. Unlike the system where it was so difficult to be recognized no matter how hard I tried, here I was looked upon favorably no matter what I did. How can you trust me so honestly and express your gratitude to me?

Those heartfelt voices touched my heart. My heart was getting wet as my weight gradually increased as the water droplets formed on the blades of grass.

"Thank you too."

"Yes?"

The woman's eyes widened at the bead-like voice. The fairy-like girl smiled brightly.

"I hope you have a happy festival. It's all for you."

I grinned and turned around. My heart was pounding pleasantly. The feel of a thread anklet in my hand was extremely satisfying. So I didn't know what I was now.

The faces of the women standing behind her were so touched that today's event, which seemed like a small event to me, would become a great story starting from the festival and how far it would spread.

At this time, I had no idea that the people of the island would also find out about this.

***

Tomorrow was the first day of clearing the Yeniv Street section. Even though the carriage was moving slowly, I felt sad when I saw the streets of Jeniv receding away. As I stood close to the window, Deqn next to me joked.

"Do you still see it that way?"

"I know, right. I can't stop walking."

I smiled shyly, feeling as if my feelings had been revealed for no reason. Meanwhile, the carriage entered the busy street, Sonnaire Street. Unlike the desolate Jeniv Street, colorful flower decorations and confetti were flying all over Sonnaire Street. The delicious smell of food wafted from the bread and meat piled high in each store. People with generous expressions were sharing food with each other. Children running through the streets each held a large balloon in their hand.

Looking at that lively appearance, I asked something that suddenly occurred to me.

"What about the workers who came with Mr. Shurn?"

Anyway, I can't erase my thoughts of Jeniv. Dean swallowed his laughter and cleared his throat

"He's doing well at the inn on Sonneir Street. The innkeeper is said to be very happy because the meal is large."

It has been a long time since I visited this closed Vikander territory where there was almost no influx of outsiders. Even those who were wary at first expressed friendliness, admiring Shurn's bravery and the workers' abilities.

Even though my eyes asked if I was not satisfied, I just faced Dean quietly. This was only half the answer I wanted.

Dean shrugged his shoulders and continued.

"Of course, our knights are always stationed wherever the people of Jeniv stay."

The green-eyed people who have finally emerged from the streets of Yeniv will be prevented from causing friction with outsiders. In addition, we will manage to ensure that there are no conflicts between Vikander territory residents and outsiders.

O then smiled brightly at his answer that perfectly met my own needs.

Dean shook his head excitedly. At the same time, the corners of his mouth naturally rose. Is there any other Lord who thinks this much about his people?

Of course, the Grand Duke is excluded. They say they are a couple.

"By the way, Sir."

"Yes."

Normally, this was a girl who would have been called 'Dean'.

Dean, who was unconsciously looking at my face, had a moment of regret. The Young Lady's eyes were sparkling with mischief.

"...I don't think things are going well with Lord Interfield these days. Is that right?"

Shock spread across Dean's face. I laughed cheerfully as I looked at that. It was a widely known fact that Howard and Dean, who had been so close to each other, had been bickering for a few days.

I even witnessed the argument.

"I will do it first. No matter what Lord Interfield says, I cannot give up on this."

"Follow the order, Dean. I was the one she met first...."

If the two people who sensed their presence hadn't stopped talking quickly. they would have found out the cause of the argument.

At my laughter, Dean hurriedly rolled his head.

"...Haha. Now that I think about it, I haven't eaten turkey in quite some time, Miss."

But this restaurant was the place that caught my eye. When he first came to Vikander, it was the restaurant where he tasted turkey meat, <Where the Wind Passes>.

As if gauging his true intentions, the Young Lady's eyes gradually narrowed. Dean has to say something. When he brought up the topic of turkey, he naturally thought of the turkey he ate on the battlefield.

"Of course, that was delicious, but the turkey meat that my dear sponsor sent me while I was on the battlefield was really delicious."

"The sponsor wants a turkey?"

For some reason, the voice that asked the question trembled a little. Dean, who would normally have noticed astutely, was now in a hurry to rejoice at the change in topic of conversation.

"Yes, Liv Green. He was a very good man who always supported the knights when we were at war with Heferti. He chose precisely what we needed and sent them as relief supplies. I never imagined that I would eat turkey on the battlefield. I really wanted to meet him, but unfortunately..."

Dean's excited voice gradually moved away from my ears. I held both of my hands together. I couldn't believe it. I can't believe Dean was there where I sent support for Jade.

Then, of course, Edwin would have been there too. What kind of coincidence is this?

At the same time as it was fascinating, I thought of the 'unknown knight' I had been writing to for the first time in a long time. Is that knight also in Vikander's territory? Could it be that Dean is him?

My pulse raced at the unexpected event.

"Yes?"

"Yes?"

"No, I thought you were trying to say something."

"No, Dean."

I laughed. My fingertips trembled a little, but fortunately, I  was at an angle where Dean couldn't see me. It was fortunate that Dean ignored it.

At least I couldn't tell him that I was 'Liv Green' until I won the hearts of all of Vikander. But at the same time, I wanted to meet the 'unknown knight'.

Feeling at a loss, I lowered my head for a moment.

"I see you, His Highness the Grand Duke."

It was then. The word 'His Royal Highness' was heard as if it were sticking out through the distant sounds. Before I knew it, the surroundings were filled with cheers. At the same time, the carriage came to a complete stop along with the sound of the horses rolling.

I reflexively looked out the window. When I arrived, Edwin quickly opened the carriage door and came in. A bright smile appeared on his beautiful face as if he was happy to see me.

"Olivia didn't come so I was just coming out to pick her up. Is this how we meet?"

"Lie."

I rolled my eyes sweetly as I faced Edwin's sly face. Edwin blinked his eyes exaggeratedly.

"Is it noticeable?"

"Little bit?"

"Actually, I came because I wanted to see you."

I blinked. Edwin just laughed when he said something so sweet that it left me speechless without my warning. I felt my face heating up. A few days ago, when he kissed my cheek, my mouth didn't come off, as if glue had been applied to it.

Me too.

The words slipped between my lips and came out without my knowledge. Edwin's eyes widened at that one word. Watching that scene, I realized a strange source of courage slowly spreading from a corner of my heart.

"So I'm glad Edwin came."

Ah, this honest Vikander. Since I decided to like Vikander, I have been becoming more and more like him.
