TAPGB - Chapter 26

The Abandoned Prince's Ghost Bride

[Lucian is very late... Something happened, right?]

I didn't ask you to run that many errands, so why couldn't you come until now?

As Lia was pacing around restlessly, Caesar, who had been preparing to support her, spoke bluntly.

"Thanks to that, we were able to prepare for the party without being caught. And if there was something wrong, Lucian would have given a signal."

[But there is something that happens just in case.]

"Do you really want to say that Lucian was kidnapped without any help?"

[Me, kidnapped?! No! We need to find Lucian right now...!]

"Oh my, I am a sinner. It's just something I said, so calm down."

Caesar stopped Leah, who was floating and trying to climb up to the mansion. I finally calmed down. Still, I couldn't help but feel anxious.

Caesar, who was clicking his tongue, suddenly perked up his ears. He grinned and looked at Leah.

"Nothing happened. He's coming now."

[Really? There's no problem, right?]

"I think it looks okay when I see him running. Instead of doing this, let's start with a surprise."

Upon hearing that they would arrive soon, Leah turned off all the lights in the mansion. And she hid herself in patronage with Caesar.

***

"Leah ~ Caesar"

Lucian, out of breath, opened the door with a bright face and found Leah and Caesar.

"Do you know what happened in the village? I met Dio... ! Huh?"

Lucian looked around with a puzzled expression. He thought that at least one person would welcome him but there was no one.

"Leah?"

Even if he looks to the left.

"Caesar?"

Even if he looks to the right.

Lucian didn't feel any pretense of popularity. Also, somehow all the lights in the mansion seem to have gone out. Is it just his mood?

"Leah, it's not fun... Don't hide, come out..!"

Silence replaced the answer. Lucian had the illusion that the days he had been through had been an illusion.

"Lee, Leah......!"

Eventually, Lucian began to cry. Before he shed tears like chicken shit.

Ctak!

A candle on the floor caught fire.

"Yes... ?"

Starting with the candle right in front, the candles placed one after another caught fire. Before he went to run my errands, there was nothing on the floor.

"Where does it lead?"

Lucian headed down the hallway instead of the stairs, passed the kitchen, and pointed to the door leading to the back office.

Lucian followed the candle, hugging the gift in both hands. This time the armor appeared before his eyes.

"Huh!"

When Lucian stepped back in surprise, he could see a red ribbon hanging from the neck of the armor.

Clang, clank-

The armor moved and gently extended its hand to him.. Lucian was wary at first, but soon took hold of his armor.

The armor walked at its own pace. So, to the place, Lucian arrived with the armor...

"Happy birthday, Lucian!"

Leah and Caesar suddenly appeared with the sound of small fireworks.

Lucian was dumbfounded and looked at them blankly.

"This is it..."

Behind Leah and Caesar, a cutely decorated table could be seen.

A two-tier cake, an appetizing-looking turkey, and various other foods and cookies.

That alone was amazing. The area around the table was decorated with beautiful flowers and ribbons, and statues and other armor were moving and clapping.

"Ah! He was surprised! Surprise success!"

[Lucian, how are you? Do you like the gift we prepared?]

Lucian looked around the party in a daze and then turned to Leah and Caesar.

Both people were looking at him with a grin. At that time, tears flowed from Lucian's eyes.

[Lu, Lucian! What's the matter!]

"Hey Kid! Why are you crying?"

The ghost and dragon were embarrassed and hurried to Lucian, who, unable to overcome his emotions, began to cry.

Ugh!

Leah hurriedly hugged Lucian and comforted him. Leah and Caesar looked at each other and began to reflect on whether they had made a mistake.

“Wow! Hi.”

Lucian soon stopped crying. His eyes were so puffy that they felt sorry for him.

Caesar, who had been feeling restless, sighed and sat down.

"Why are you crying all of a sudden, little one? You knew something had happened."

"... Sniff."

[Is it because we surprised him too much? So were you sad?]

Lucian shook his head.

"I didn't know you could prepare a party like this..."

There is no particular reason why Lucian cried. It was just that something completely unexpected unfolded before his eyes.

Even though they didn't know that today was his birthday until this morning, they secretly wanted to congratulate him.

Should he say that expectations were heightened by the surprise gift given by Dio and James?

It was natural that they didn't know his birthday since Lucian never told them, but he hoped that they would meet his heightened expectations.

However, contrary to such feelings, reason understood reality well, and the child, whose expectations had never been met, quickly gave up and hid his feelings even if he had expectations.

But how did the two know his feelings and prepare a surprise?

"Oh, today... How did you know it was my birthday?"

Leah and Caesar looked at each other. They couldn't say that they even noticed his birthday as it was the Crown Prince's birthday.

[What do I not know about Lucian? I know everything.]

"Really?"

[Yes. I am your bride.]

"Ah, so the reason you sent me on an errand was to prepare for this?"

[That's right. I thought it would arrive in 1-2 hours, but it came later than expected? But thanks to you, I was able to decorate it a little prettier.]

Leah wiped Lucian's face and led him to a table full of food.

[How is it? Do you like it?]

"... Huh! Leah is the best!"

Lucian hugged my neck tightly.

"Tch, is Leah the best? How I am? Oh my! I laid the table here, decorated it with flowers, and I moved everything look, so why did you leave me out?"

Lucian wondered if he could hear the grumbling somewhere, but Caesar pouted and showed his dissatisfaction, asking Lucian to praise him too.

Unlike me, whose eyes were cold and salty, Lucian burst out laughing.

"You're the best too! I've never had such a fancy party!"

"Big, Huh! of course! Someone planned it!"

Caesar got excited by those words and sprinkled more light particles around, moving the armor and dolls in perfect harmony. He clapped his hands because he liked Lucian.

"Now, shall we eat first before the food gets colder?"

The three sat around the table and started eating. Of course, they didn't forget to sing happy birthday and cut the cake before the meal.

Leah, who could not eat food, distributed food in front of Lucian and Caesar and watched them enjoy it.

"Leah! It's super delicious! I think today is the most delicious day!"

"It's a long way to go to satisfy my appetite, but it's not bad. Oh! Give me a leg too! Why are you giving it only to Lucian!"

Even though it was noisy, it wasn't bad. Has the mansion, which was once filled with silence, suddenly changed to this?

When Lucian first came, I never thought a scene like this would unfold. I felt fortunate that Lucian was here and able to see me.

Lucian and Caesar patted their swollen bellies and filled their stomachs with cake until the last of their dessert.

"The cake was this delicious."

"Is this your first time eating cake?"

"Huh. It was my first time eating cookies and muffins since I came here. They are all so delicious!"

Lucian smiled and munched on the cake, but Leah and Caesar had no choice but to hide their shaking fist.

In particular, when Kaizar was unable to control his expression and tried to get angry, Leah covered his mouth with Mana.

[Now that I think about it, Lucian, what are those two boxes? I don't think I sent you on an errand.]

"Ah! Right!"

Lucian got up from his seat and brought two boxes.

"Leah! I became friends with Dio! Who is Dio..!"

Lucian explained what had happened in the village so far.

"...... So he gave this to you as a gift for your birthday!"

[Thank you, my friend. I'll have to repay you later, right?]

"Huh!"

I already thought it would be good to have friends his age, but I felt much more at ease knowing that he had already made friends in the village.

"Oh, they gave me a good one. Let's try it tomorrow."

"I'm not going to do that anyway."

[This is a gift from Dio, and this is from James?]

"That's right! ah! I forgot to give Leah's food to James."

Lucian was disappointed that he had missed a good opportunity for an experiment, but Leah thought it was fortunate that James returned as he was.

Wouldn't James be very surprised if Lucian, who you thought was alone in the house, was suddenly presented with such sumptuous food?

"It's a doll!"

What James gave him was a wooden soldier doll. It didn't seem expensive, but it was still the kind of gift that made you feel James' feelings.

Leah and Caesar exchanged looks when they saw Lucian, who smiled and liked the two gifts.

"Hmm! You're not satisfied with that, are you?"

"Huh?"

[We also prepared a gift.]

Lucian's eyes began to shine like jewels. It was Caesar who gave the gift first.

"Hmm! Huh! What I prepared is..."

Caesar put his hand into the subspace and rummaged around for a while before pulling out the item.

"This is it!"

It was a necklace with a diamond almost the size of a gold coin, just in case anyone thought it was a dragon.

"Wow... It sparkles."

"No matter where you go, it must be hard to find a diamond this big."

"Are you really giving this to me?"

"Okay. Not only that. Try it on."

As Caesar said, Lucian wore the necklace. Then something strange happened to Lucian.

[Lucian, your hair...]

Lucian, whose hair and eyes had returned to their original state when he returned to the mansion, had changed just as he had when he went out to the village again.
