TAPGB - Chapter 20
The Abandoned Prince's Ghost Bride
"But brother."
"Huh?"
"What is a hatchling?"
Lucian was constantly bothered by what Leah said about hatchlings and entertainment. He just hasn't been able to ask that question until now because he hasn't had the time.
"Our dragons have an average lifespan of about 1,500 years."
"1500 years?"
I thought it was a long time ago that Leah lived for 300 years, but the lifespan of a dragon was even more unimaginable.
"Usually around 300 years, they are divided into hatchlings and holy dragons. In other words, you have to be 300 years old to become an adult."
"Then you're 295 years old, so you're not an adult yet?"
"Five years pass in the blink of an eye, so now I'm an adult!"
"I also want to become an adult quickly. When I grow up, I'm going to travel the world with Leah."
"Wake up from your dream. How on earth are you going to take Leah with you? She's tied up in a mansion and can't move."
"Somehow! If I become a strong person, I will be able to set Leah free. When that time comes, let's go on a trip with us."
Caesar trembled, then hummed and turned his head.
"Why am I spending my first pleasure with you?"
"What is entertainment?"
"What on earth do you know?"
Lucian was not affected much by Caesar's disgusting eyes. He had become insensitive to the gaze he had been receiving since he was very young.
"Leah says I'm young so there's bound to be a lot of things I don't know. They said that if you don't know, you can learn. So let me know! What is entertainment?"
The way it was chirping without any sense of impact was so harmless that Caesar had no choice but to respond obediently.
"Dragons live so long that they get bored. So, to relieve their boredom, they infiltrate among humans and other races. Living under a new identity while hiding that you are a dragon is called entertainment."
"Why are you hiding that you're a dragon? People would be happy if they knew it was a dragon."
"Lucian, not everyone is like you. There are many bad people in the world. They are trying to get their hands on our dragons at any cost. That's why dragons don't like humans very much. Because there's nothing good about being involved."
"But they say that if you do something called entertainment, you live with other people."
"I told you. They're doing it while hiding their identity. And it's just a way to kill time, so don't do it, don't do it. Well, there are some who enjoy entertainment for hundreds of years."
Caesar stopped, looked around to see who was around, and whispered to Lucian.
"This is a secret, but there is a dragon among the northern nobles here."
"Really?"
"Shh. This is a secret. He's so shy that he doesn't like anyone knowing his identity. Besides, it seems like a fairly famous family among humans. He's a weird guy because he's been in that family for almost 200 years."
"So that dragon noble will still be the head of the family?"
"No, that's not it. I guess he's hiding his identity while acting as a servant. What's unique about this guy is that he hates humans so much, but he gets closer to humans than any other dragon. Isn't it amazing?"
"You're close to me too! Do you like humans?"
Caesar was momentarily speechless due to his absurd confidence. If another human had said something like that, he would have been angry, but instead of being angry because Lucian did it, he found it very cute.
"Huh?"
Caesar grabbed Lucian's cheek without realizing it. Caesar
grabbed his other cheek and played with its addictive softness, Lucian closed his eyes tightly and groaned.
"Ugh! Brother, it hurts!"
"This guy is truly a monster. He looks like a normal kid on the outside, but what's on the inside?"
When Caesar let go of his hands, Lucian's cheeks turned red. It made him laugh because it looked like his cheeks were blushing.
"I don't have a close relationship with anyone."
On the contrary, Caesar tends to dislike it. So much so that if he goes on a rampage in front of him without even knowing the subject, he will kill him right away.
"Then what about me?"
Caesar crossed his arms and looked down at him. It looks exactly like a white rabbit.
"You are the exception! You're Leah's groom!"
"Hehe, then I'm a special person?"
"Why is it like that?"
"Because it's my heart! You're nice little boy......."
When Caesar pressed the hat that Lucian was wearing, Lucian groaned and struggled. After giggling for a moment, Caesar wiped his smile, brought himself to eye level with Lucian, and spoke seriously.
"You shouldn't do that when you meet another dragon, right?"
Lucian rolled his eyes because it was the first time he showed seriousness.
"Dragons don't like humans more than you think. No, it's safe to say they hate it."
Although it can live for 1,500 years, the oldest dragon ever lived to be 1,354 years old. As humans gradually evolved, the lifespan of dragons decreased.
In the past, dragons were objects of envy and respect, but now they are closer to being hunted. Since humans, who live on average only 60 years, try to hunt them, how can dragons like humans if they like them?
'Besides, it got worse starting 300 years ago.'
He doesn't know exactly what happened. It happened before he was born, and he only heard about it from his parents.
A dragon who was strong enough to be chosen as the next leader of the Red Dragon clan joined humans, but at some point disappeared without a trace.
He wonders why people are so angry when they simply disappear, but the fact that a dragon disappears without a trace means two things.
First, death.
Second, sealing.
'Caesar, never trust humans. Humans are ungrateful bastards who don't know grace and put a knife in their back.'
One day, Caesar remembered his mother crying and losing her temper.
Mom said that the dragon was her favorite older brother.
He, too, is close to the side that hates humans due to the influence of his parents
'Well, there's no need to say this.'
In his life, Lucian rarely meets other dragons besides himself.
Caesar adjusted Lucian's hat again and entered the village with him.
***
"Wow........."
"Look at your mouth. I'm going to Paris."
"There are so many people. And it's so big!"
The place where the two arrived was a village about 30 minutes away on foot from the mansion.
Since the mansion was located in the middle of a forest behind the palace wall, on a hill, the village was also located at the foot of a mountain.
Lotrin Village, where mainly people who cannot afford to live in the center live. Even though it was on the outskirts of the city center, it boasted no less vitality and scale.
Lucian had never been outside the cold palace or mansion in his life. That's why he didn't even know that there were so many and diverse people in the world.
When Lucian couldn't come to his senses and tried to move as he saw, Caesar grabbed his shoulder.
"Did you forget you came out to run errands?”
"Oh right."
Thanks to Caesar, Lucian did not forget his duty. Lucian carefully unfolded the note he took out of his pocket and checked the shopping list.
"...... Spices, my clothes, shoes, and a wooden sword!"
"Are you learning swordsmanship?"
"Uh? How did you know?"
"How do you know? It says here it's a wooden sword. I guess there wasn't a sword in the mansion you could use."
It was amazing how Caesar could infer everything that had never been said. As Lucian gave him a bright look, the corners of Caesar's mouth trembled.
"Hmm! Let's buy ingredients first."
"Huh!.... But where are we going?"
"It's really varied."
For Lucian, who was new to the village and market, Caesar held his hand and walked around.
The two first went to the market and bought various ingredients that Leah ordered. Since the amount was larger than expected, he stored the purchased materials in Caesar's subspace.
"Now, all I have to do is buy your clothes, shoes, and sword, right?"
"Huh!"
"Let's see... Where would be better?"
Caesar looked around. He is a dragon who does not pay attention to even the most gold and silver treasures, so there was no way he could find clothes that would please him. Especially if it's the flimsy clothes sold at a newsstand.
Caesar frowned at the rough and plain clothes.
"Brother, this is cheap. Let's buy this."
"Oh my, what a cute little customer. Are you here with your brother?"
When the woman at the stall asked a friendly question, Lucian was startled and hid behind Caesar. At any rate, it seemed like the child was shy.
The woman smiled warmly and raised her head.
"The kid is so cute. Bachelor younger brother......."
The lady closed her mouth without realizing it. This is because the feeling of intimidation coming from Caesar was no joke. The atmosphere was atmospheric, but just standing there gave off a noble appearance.
Not only that, the clothes and accessories he was wearing were precious items that commoners could not access, and his hands and skin were as soft as if he had never done any hard work.
I realized it instinctively. That person is not a commoner.
The woman lowered her head and shook her hands, wondering if she had made a mistake.
"You."
"Yes yes...... Why are you doing that, Young boy?"
"Where is the most expensive clothing store here?"
"What kind of amount are you talking about?"
The woman, who had slowly raised her head, lowered her head again when she saw Caesar glaring coldly.
"There is no clothing store in this village where noblemen and nobles live. They're all centrally located. Instead, if you are looking for the best clothing store in town...."
The lady pointed to a well-maintained street outside the market.
"You can go to 'Berhan' with the green sign on that street."
"Hmm, I see. Let's go, kid."
"Uh..."
Lucian looked back and forth between Caesar and the woman as they walked away, then bowed to the woman and followed behind Caesar.
Only after Caesar walked away did the woman breathe a sigh of relief.
"Hey, I live and see noblemen coming here all the time."
If you see that he treats his child well, he doesn't seem like such a bad person. Is he a guardian?
Aside from being scary, the man had an amazing appearance, so she stuck her head out and glanced at Caesar. He soon left the market and entered another street.
"You're going here?"
Lucian and Caesar have already reached 'Berhan'. It was clearly different from the clothes sold in the market.
But it seemed like it would be that expensive. Sure enough, the price of the clothes on display started at 60 silver.
Lucian fingered the three gold pieces in his hand.
"Brother, I don't think this money will be enough?"
"I know."
"I know you live here? I want to live there."
When Lucian tried to go to the street market, Caesar grabbed him by the back and dragged him into the store.
"Stop talking nonsense and follow me. I will buy it for you."
Lucian, who was struggling, blinked his eyes.
rattle-
"Welcome!"
The waiter jumped up from his seat and greeted the two people. She smiled with her usual business smile but stopped when she saw the unusual beauty of Caesar and Lucian.
Then, when she saw Caesar's clothes, she played the abacus in her head. This is a big fish!
"Is there a design you are looking for, sir?"
"Please bring me some clothes for this little boy to wear."
"Yes! Please wait a moment!"
"President! President! "
While the employee went to call the boss, Caesar sat down on the sofa on one side, and Lucian noticed his surroundings and carefully sat down next to him. Caesar narrowed his eyes when he saw that even though there was a lot of empty space, he was sticking close to him.
"Why are you so timid? Is this your first time coming to a place like this?"
".... Huh. There are too many people."
At first, it was just amazing because there were so many places to see, but as time went by, Lucian became a little scared of so many people.
To be precise, unpleasant old memories began to creep up on him.
The place where Lucian lived before coming to the mansion was the Cold Palace. It was a place with only 5 people. In addition, there was a high wall around the small palace where he lived, completely cutting off the outside world.
Then, someone suddenly came in to say they were holding a soul wedding, and Lucian was sent to the haunted mansion amidst the strangers.
Now, the haunted mansion is a thousand to ten thousand times better than staying in the Cold Palace, but the memories from back then haven't gotten any better.
Caesar, unaware of the circumstances, just thought Lucian was strange.
"This isn't even much. You said you wanted to go on a trip. There are a lot more people than this in big cities."
Lucian trembled. When he saw Caesar secretly, he raised one corner of his mouth.
"Where did the little boy who boasted about going on a trip with Leah go?"
"Woah, I'm definitely going on a trip! I'm not afraid of people!"
Lucian strained his eyes and looked at the people walking around on the street. It was an attempt to overcome people in his own way.
