IDMH - Chapter 24

I Decided My Husband

What does this mean all of a sudden?

I tilted my head and looked at Sir Aldor.

"Why are you saying that?"

"Because the Young Lady is planning to trouble His Highness the Fifth Prince."

"Yes? Me?"

"Yes. You're going, Lady."

"..."

"..."

There was an awkward silence. When I looked at him in bewilderment and shock at the sudden remark, Sir Aldor asked back carefully.

"No... Is it you?"

"No."

Even though he denied it outright, Sir Aldor seemed in disbelief.

"It's really not, so don't worry. I don't know why Sir Aldor had such a misunderstanding in the first place."

"Because of what you did at the Martina estate."

What did I do at Martina Estate?

"Are you talking about the second Prince's affair?"

As if it was the correct answer, Sir Aldor nodded.

Ah, that's how it happened. I finally understood Sir Aldor's feelings and laughed.

"That's because the second Prince stole my credit and he was angry and wanted revenge."

However, that is not the only reason.

"The Fifth Prince has never done that, so he won't do that."

"Then why did you ask me to find out this?"

"It's a secret."

It wasn't that I didn't trust Sir Aldor, but I thought he might worry if I told him my plan, so I kept it a secret.

Sir Aldor frowned as if he didn't like that.

Are you still worried about me?

"Do not worry. "I asked you to investigate this not to trouble anyone, but to save someone's life."

"That..."

Just as Sir Aldor was about to say something, there was a knock on the door.

"Lady, His Highness the Third Prince has arrived."

Sir Aldor swallowed what he was trying to say and bowed his head.

"I'll just leave now."

"You can finish saying what you wanted to say and leave."

"No."

What?

Make people curious. It was absurd, but I let it go because I didn't think he was forcing me to hold on to it because I didn't want to talk about it.

Sir Aldor left and the 3rd Prince took his place.

"Nice to meet you, Lady Adele Leopold."

Somehow, he moves as I expected without any error. Thankfully.

"My name is Ian de Vincent Athanasius."

It was difficult to predict the actions of the Emperor, who seemed to have a hundred snakes inside him, but it was easy to predict the actions of the young Princes.

I looked at the 3rd Prince, Ian, who smiled slightly and lightly kissed the back of my hand.

If Chernosor had a slightly sharp image, Ian had a soft noble style. The public's opinion was that his personality was better than Chernosor's. However, it was literally better, not better.

Moreover, he was as greedy as Chernosor. So, in order to somehow marry me, he wagged his tail like a puppy.

When the Emperor died and the Crown Prince ascended the throne, all of his brother Princes had to leave the imperial palace and the capital.

Is that all?

In the name of preventing impure thoughts, people were not allowed to set foot in the capital except when there were national events such as the New Year Festival or the National Foundation Festival.

However, there was an exception in cases where a person inherited a title by marrying a noblewoman.

This is because if you receive the title, your right to succession to the throne will be revoked and you wilI never be able to become Emperor.

However, since they could remain in the capital, the Princes who had no ties to the throne had a dream of marrying a daughter from a good family and inheriting the title.

That was the reason why Chernosor and Ian were so obsessed with bending their pride and marrying me.

"What are you doing here without your Royal Highness contacting you?"

"It's because of this guy."

When Ian gestured, the attendant brought the 4th Prince, who was standing quietly behind him, forward.

"This guy whined that he wanted to repay the Lady, so I came with him as a guardian."

That's not it, you probably put the 4th Prince in front of me to meet me.

I looked down at the 4th Prince, who still had shaggy hair as if he had been ripped off.

Through the disheveled bangs, golden eyes were seen smiling innocently.

When our eyes met, the 4th Prince smiled like an idiot and handed me a gift box.

"This, this, this, bo, this is repayment!"

When I saw the perfect idiot Prince, I remembered what I had seen back then. The sight of the Prince throwing away the cashmere shawl and basket I had given him, stomping on them and muttering swear words.

Thinking about such conflicting images at the same time, I couldn't help but laugh.

"Thank you, Your Royal Highness."

I expressed my gratitude by wrapping that smile as if I was happy to receive the gift.

Then Ian, as well as the attendants and servants who followed him, looked at me in surprise. It was the same for the 4th Prince.

A moment of surprise and puzzlement flashed in his golden eyes, then quickly disappeared. Although the 4th Prince is the youngest here, he seems to be the best at controlling his emotions.

"Then, you two, please sit down."

When I offered him a seat, Ian gently hit the 4th Prince on the arm.

"I, I, hey, I have an appointment, so I'll just go."

Then the 4th Prince stuttered. Ian smiled softly and grabbed his shoulder as if asking when he had hit the 4th Prince.

"It's unfortunate, but he said he has to go, so I guess I'll have to let him go."

"Is it so? It can't be helped."

When I rang the bell, the waiting-maid came in and greeted me politely.

When Ian was about to naturally hand over the 4th Prince to the maid, he spoke before doing so.

"Since you two are leaving, please escort them to the entrance of the palace."

Ian's hand, which was about to hand over the 4th Prince to the maid, stopped. Ian asked, looking at me with slightly embarrassed eyes.

"Does that mean I have to go too?"

"Wasn't Your Highness going too?"

I tilted my head and asked back.

"I heard you came as the 4th Prince's guardian, so I thought you were going back together."

It was a phrase that implied that if you want to stay, you should stay together, and if you want to leave, you should leave together.

"..."

If Ian had been as clueless as Chernosor and had not understood the meaning, things would have been complicated, but fortunately, he did, as he grabbed the 4th Prince's shoulder tightly and said,

"I don't know what the promise is, but it's been a long time since you met your benefactor, and I think it's rude to just give her a gift and then leave right away, so let's stay a little longer."

It's concluded.

"Please sit down, you two."

I smiled again and offered the two people a seat.

***

Once upon a time, Chernosor said something like this. The 3rd Prince, Ian, is very weak at drinking, and he falls asleep after drinking just one glass of strong alcohol.

So I giggled and proudly said that I played around with it a lot.

At that time, I thought it was strange that Chernosor proudly said something like that, even though he was a half-brother. Now my thoughts have changed.

Thud-

Thanks to the good information, I was able to put Ian to sleep easily. After only taking a few sips of the cocktail disguised as tea, Ian completely lost consciousness and collapsed.

You've really lost your mind, right?

"His Royal Highness."

I tried to wake Ian up by shaking his shoulder loudly to check, but he didn't budge.

He was clearly drunk and fell asleep.

Good, then...

"..."

When I turned around, the 4th Prince smiled brightly, as if he had been preparing. I responded with a smile and asked.

"You have the cashmere shawl I gave to His Highness the Prince earlier, right?"

"Show, shoall?"

The 4th Prince continued talking and blinked widely as if he didn't know what that was.

I heard you're really good at acting. If you had become a theater actor, you would have been very successful.

"Yes, a shawl. You put it on her shoulder like this."

"Oh right!"

The 4th Prince shook his head sharply and wiggled his hands as if he understood only when I showed his actions.

"I-I lost it!"

"You lost it?"

"Uh, huh. As I was going, I was blown away by the wind...!"

"It wasn't blown away by the wind, but Your Highness threw it to the ground and stomped on it?"

The writhing hand stopped. Instead, shaking eyes stared at me.

"I saw it all."

I looked into his eyes and spoke slowly.

"I saw everything the Prince did that day. Even cursing the Emperor."

"..."

"You must always be careful when acting like an idiot, Your Highness Prince Perdes."

The shaking eyes also stopped. The 4 Prince Perdes opened his mouth as if about to say something, then looked at Ian, who was completely asleep.

"Do not worry. His Majesty the Third Prince will never hear our story. He was completely drunk."

"..."

"How could I possibly bring up a story like this without even considering that?"

So, when I smiled to mean that there was no need to worry, Perdes twitched his lips.

"You have a meticulous personality."

You have finally taken off your idiot mask.

"This is what we call meticulous."

When I answered without giving up, he burst out laughing.

"I thought it was strange that you kept calling me to tell you, but I guess it was because you knew everything."

His husky, low voice, which had gone through a period of transformation, did not match his youthful yet shabby appearance. That look definitely suits an idiot Prince.

"I didn't know everything from the beginning. As I said before, I secretly followed His Highness and discovered your true personality."

"I didn't know that the noble Duke's daughter had a hobby of following other people."

"It wasn't a hobby, but I followed because I was worried. It's a very trivial and useless worry, what if His Highness the Idiot Prince gets lost?"

Perdes twitched his lips as he added,

"If I had known that His Highness was fine, I wouldn't have followed you."

The golden eyes looking at me flashed sharply. His eyes were so similar to the Emperor's that it was scary to think that he was the Emperor's son. It was so scary, and I momentarily regretted whether I had chosen him for no reason, but it was already spilled water.

Since there was no other way to protect me and Duke Leopold from the Emperor than this, I said, calming my anxiety.
