IDMH - Chapter 26
I Decided My Husband
Daimon looked at the two Princes who were trying their best to win Adele's favor with bewildered eyes.
Adele, who was caught between the two Princes, looked at them in great distress but soon made the excuse that she was not feeling well and ran away.
"You guys go away too!"
When his plan was ruined, Daimon became angry and kicked out the two Princes. Daimon, who was left alone with the chamberlain who had been by his side for a long time, groaned and touched his throbbing head.
"How did Ian find out?"
Was there someone attached to Adele Leopold?
Daimon thought it would be because Ian had no way of knowing other than that, but the chamberlain revealed unexpected information.
"It's not that, it's said that His Highness the 2nd Prince went to show off to His Highness the 3rd Prince. No matter how hard he tries, he will become Duke Leopold."
"What?"
It took a long time to think of him and prepare a place for him, but then he rushed over to Ian and boasted about it?
The tendons on Daimon's forehead turned red. Blue tendons also appeared in his clenched fists.
"Bring Chernosor right now!"
Immediately after that, it was only natural that Daimon's displeased order fell on Chernosor.
“Puhup.”
The laughter I had been suppressing throughout tea time burst out as soon as I returned to the room.
The reason I ran away with the excuse of not feeling well was because I felt like I would burst out laughing if I stayed any longer. It was I who made Chernosor run to Ian as soon as he heard the Emperor's message.
Every time I met Chernosor, I talked about Ian's strengths and incited his jealousy.
Chernosor, who had a strong grudge against him, ran to Ian and boasted as soon as he got the chance.
Stupidly, he didn't even know that he was shooting me in the foot.
Thanks to this, the Emperor's plan was completely foiled and time was bought
That was exhilarating, but the most exhilarating thing was seeing the Emperor's embarrassed face.
Especially when Ian appeared with Chernosor, I couldn't forget his half-fazed face.
If I had been able to hold back my laughter, I would have watched more, but I was very disappointed that I couldn't.
Instead, while I was bursting into laughter thinking about the Emperor's ecstatic face, Sir Aldor, who had gone on an errand for me, returned.
"Welcome, Sir Aldor."
I greeted him with a bright smile, as I was in a good mood. Perhaps because my laughter was contagious, Sir Aldor also smiled faintly, which is rare.
"You look like you're in a good mood, Miss."
"Sure. Very good."
Because I troubled the Emperor.
"So what's going on?"
"You asked for it before."
The pocket held out by Sir Aldor contained a small vial. It was a medicine that alleviated the symptoms of shellfish allergy.
Allergy-related medicines were rare and expensive, so one small bottle was equivalent to a year's living expenses for an ordinary family of four.
I am sure that Perdes, who had no money, could not obtain this medicine and sent Jack away in vain. Maybe that's why he got even angrier and attacked the 5th Prince.
"Good job, Sir Aldor."
"No."
Sir Aldor left, and soon after, an attendant sent by the 3rd Prince came.
"His Royal Highness said he was worried about the Lady's health and sent you some medicine."
The attendant held out a box containing several vials containing black liquid.
Just looking at the color, it seems like it's not a tonic but an evil medicine.
"Please tell me thank you for his concern."
I took it with a forced smile. Not long after the servant sent by the 3rd Prince left, the servant sent by the 2nd Prince also came.
Holding the same medicine, just a different color.
Anyway, I don't want to lose so I keep following along. Then, either change it a little bit or follow it exactly so it looks the same.
'Well, this is all I can think of in Chernosor.'
The servants around him were smart, but the problem was that Chernosor was stubborn and did not listen to others. He listened to the Emperor because he was afraid of him, otherwise, he would have been stubborn.
Anyway, what is this tonic? If there's a problem with me, it's the two people who are in trouble, so it's not poisonous. Still, I didn't want to eat it.
I had no intention of putting even a single piece of the chocolate they gave me into my mouth.
If I were to throw it away, the maids would ask me where the medicine they had given me was.
Since I was giving it to someone eIse, I couldn't give the gift the Prince gave me to just anyone.
Yes, you can't give it to just anyone, but it's okay to give it to someone of the same royal family, right?
As soon as I finished thinking, I rang the bell.
After a while, the medicine that Ian and Chernosor sent me was given to the stable keeper, Jack, a family member and friend of Perdes.
[It's good for your health, so be sure to give it to His Highness.]
With my note saying.
***
Early morning with pouring rain.
"Eat."
The 5th Prince, Charles, held out a vial containing a strange green liquid.
It seems like he's been quiet lately, but he's been making strange medicine again. Perdes sighed inside.
"Ooh, ooh, write, I can see it."
Of course, I pretended to be an idiot on the outside.
When Perdes stuttered, Charles frowned and dug his ears as if he couldn't hear anything.
"What can I do about your stuttering? I get so annoyed every time I hear it."
"I'm sorry."
"Ah, that's it."
Charles waved his hand as if shooing away a fly.
"It's better to want a dog to speak more than you want it."
Charles is only 14 years old this year. Even though Perdes was his older brother, he didn't hesitate to call him "big brother" and even swore at him without hesitation.
But Perdes didn't feel bad about them doing this at all. Rather, he thought it was convenient to know their inner thoughts.
Yes, it's better than hiding his dark heart like that woman.
Perdes recalled the tonic that Adele Leopold had sent him some time ago.
If she had sent it to me herself, I would have thrown it away without mercy, but since she sent it to Jack, I had to eat it all.
Thinking about that made Perdes mouth feel bitter and sore as if there was still medicine in it.
Perdes wanted to go see him right away and ask her what he was doing, but there were so many eyes watching that he had no choice but to be cautious.
And he hates to admit it, but Perdes really felt better after taking that medicine.
Insomnia has disappeared, and the rhinitis that always comes with the arrival of spring has improved significantly.
So Perdes couldn't even understand what Adele was thinking.
"What, are you thinking about something else now?"
Even though you have no clue, you are good at guessing things like this.
Perdes put on his idiot mask again.
“So, sorry.”
"Oh, I really don't want to hear it."
Charles clicked his tongue, placed the medicine bottle in Perdes's arms, and turned around.
"I'll come back in an hour, so eat this and wait. You and your slave too."
Charles left, but Perdes stood there as if nailed, staring at the bottle of medicine Charles had given him.
If he's talking about a slave, he's talking about Jack.
But Jack was also waiting. Why?
Up until now, there had been many times when Charles had asked people to eat and wait to see the effects of the medicine, but never once had Jack been included in that.
But Perdes felt uneasy when Jack's name was mentioned.
Could it be that he also took this strange medicine?
"Your Highness will take my hand. Only then will you be able to protect your precious things."
Suddenly, what Adele Leopold said came to mind.
No way, no way, no way, no way.
Clink-
The sound of glass breaking echoed loudly.
Perdes hurried out to find Jack. He went there thinking he would be in the stable, but he wasn't there.
'Where did they go?"
Perdes was more anxious because he couldn't see him.
"Jack, Jack!"
Perdes searched for Jack, calling his name loudly. He didn't have to worry about anyone finding out that he was sane, and he didn't have to worry about it.
Anyone who saw Perdes running around in the pouring rain looked like he was out of his mind. Even the courtiers who took pity on him and gave him a little food were often shy and avoided him.
In the meantime, a man was approaching him.
"Your Highness."
It was Aldor.
Perdes recalled seeing Adele when he went to see her before.
Since Adele knows that she is pretending to be an idiot, it is highly likely that Aldor, the guard knight, also knows. Still, just in case, it was right to pretend to be an idiot, but he couldn't do that because his mind was filled with thoughts of having to find Jack.
"Let go!"
"If you are looking for it, the Lady has it for you."
What now...
Perdes, who was trying to shake off Aldor's hand, stopped. Aldor nodded and then turned around. It was a signal to follow.
Are Jack and that woman really together?
Perdes followed Aldor with some doubt.
The place where Aldor took Perdes was an old lodging that was no longer in use. Jack was lying in bed motionless. His complexion was so pale that one could believe he was dead.
"Jack!"
So Perdes, who thought Jack was dead, came running in astonishment, and only after seeing his chest rising and falling slightly did he sit down on the bedside with relief.
"It's still too early to feel safe."
For a moment, Perdes turned his head when he heard Adele's voice.
Adele was standing with her arms crossed and leaning against the wall.
"We gave him an allergy reliever. but since it is literally an allergy reliever, we have to monitor the situation a little more. It would be better if he got examined by a doctor."
"Allergy reliever?"
"What the 5th Prince gave that man is the medicine that causes a shellfish allergy."
"..."
As expected, the 5th Prince gave Jack a strange medicine! Plus, it's a drug that causes allergies.
"That bastard...."
Perdes' anger towards the 5th Prince burned at the fact that Jack almost died.
Suddenly, the sound of teeth grinding echoed through the shabby accommodation filled with the sound of rain. Adele, who was looking at Perdes blankly, motioned for Aldor, who was nearby, to leave for a moment.
When Aldor left, Adel walked in front of Perdes and held out her hand to him.
"I told you before. Your Highness, you will hold my hand to protect your precious people."
Ferdes looked up at Adele.
"Are you still not willing to hold my hand?"
"..."
"If you refuse again this time..."
