IDEFYEM - Chapter 4
Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!
On the way back after meeting up with Kael, I felt like I was going to be blown away.
'I didn't know I would escape from the Grand Duke in this way.'
I stamped my feet to calm my excitement and then got into the carriage.
The driver, with a blunt expression, started the carriage without saying a word of greeting.
Everyone in the Duke's house, even the employees, was cold to me.
The only other person who doesn't is Sarah, who doesn't need to worry about the Duke. Even though the world was originally created that way.
The feeling that everyone around me hated me was painful at times.
I quietly looked out the window and waited for them to arrive at the Duke's residence.
When my younger sister Martha was on her way back from a banquet, the front of the Duke's residence was crowded with people who came to meet her.
As expected, no one came out today.
However, I didn't know that it was a good thing for me who wanted to rest quickly.
'As soon as I get to my room, I have to take off my makeup, take off my dress, and lie down on the bed to sleep.'
It was a time when I was climbing the stairs dreaming of such a happy night.
"Sister, you're finally here. How was the banquet?"
My younger sister suddenly jumped out of the darkness.
A young girl with lovely honey-colored hair and plump pink cheeks.
I looked at Martha, who had grown up and was loved by everyone, with a look of uncertainty on her face.
" Tell me. How was the banquet?"
"It was fun."
"You didn't come here to decorate the wall again today? You've always been like that."
To put it bluntly, it was a terrace, not a wall.
I blinked and thought without emotion.
As for how she interpreted that reaction, Martha continued speaking excitedly.
"You're not offended, are you? I was worried that my sister might have been embarrassed. If you had gone with me, I would have taken care of you."
It was such a shame to take care of it, so they would have tried to subtly criticize it like this.
It is said that sisters naturally bicker. This was something quite different.
"By the way, my father was looking for my sister. He's in the study now."
Ugh, oh my.
I took my small revenge by not answering and left. But now I had to go see my father, so I had to go beyond the mountains.
When I knocked on the closed study door, I heard the Duke's permission to come in.
“Enrica.”
"Yes, father."
Emotionless eyes looked up and down the dress as if checking the product.
"It's okay."
"Thank you."
Gratitude is a piece of cake. Laughing without a soul, it was time to demonstrate the skills I had cultivated since my previous life.
"Be careful how you behave until the ceremony. Imitate your sister."
"Yes, father."
"You shouldn't gain weight. I'll give you a teacher, so you can take bridal lessons."
"Yes, father."
You just call people over and say what you have to say.
While listening with one ear and letting it go with the other, he finally asked another question.
"I heard that His Highness attended the banquet today. Did you say hello?"
The Grand Duke?
Honestly, I was very surprised.
In that case, I will join hands with Kael in the end...
Did the Grand Duke see him kissing my hair?
Won't the letter of marriage cancellation arrive tomorrow?
Well, I would be grateful, but if that happened, I didn't know if the Duke would spare me before I married Kael.
It was obvious that I would get scolded if I told him honestly that I couldn't even meet him, let alone say hello, so I glossed over it.
"Yes, father."
"Now you're paying back all the years of raising you, Enrica."
For the first time, the Duke's eyes were not cold when he looked at me.
"Don't forget that what you do for your family is also what you do for yourself."
Although it was closer to evaluating a good item rather than looking at his daughter. Still, something was different from usual.
"I'm proud of you."
I closed my mouth and thought. After all, Enrica was his biological daughter.
There was something I wanted to ask just once before I hit the Duke in the back by breaking off the engagement.
Even if it's just to put my mind at ease.
Finally, I made up my mind and opened my mouth.
"Father, what if?"
"Okay."
"If I say I don't want to marry His Highness... What are you going to do?"
Slap!
The last thing I saw was the Duke's stiff mouth.
My head turned with a loud sound ringing in my ears.
For a moment, I didn't understand what happened.
The tingling sensation I felt on my cheek reminded me of the cold reality.
The Duke laughed.
"You're good at it, you do it... You must be crazy, Enrica."
I was hit so hard that my ears were ringing.
"If you say something like that next time, it won't end with a slap in the face."
I held my beaten face and struggled to come to my senses.
After barely bowing to the Duke and paying my respects, I left the study.
That's right, I'm crazy.
Still, I just assumed that he was my blood father.
As I was trudging out of the study and back to my room, I ran into Sarah.
"Miss, I was looking for you. Why are you so late...."
The only person who welcomes me is the villainess of the original. This is surprisingly not bad either.
Her face hardened as she walked towards me happily holding a lantern. Sara opened her mouth to me, who was enjoying the small emotion without even knowing it.
"Oh my gosh...What the xxx xxx"
"... Wow, hey!"
A foul language came out. Here at the Duke's residence!
With my eyes wide and shocked, I ran over and covered Sarah's mouth.
However, I immediately pulled my hand away when I saw the sharp angle of the eyebrows.
The sadness of being slapped disappeared in no time, and only the fear of touching a wicked woman remained.
"Bah, did you just swear at me?"
"Of course not!"
Sarah shouted with a shocked face.
I flinched at the loud sound and quickly grabbed her hand and brought her into the room.
How many minutes did you wait?
Sarah, who seemed to have finally let go of her anger, began to speak in a much calmer voice.
"Did I tell you that I used to have a dog? You look like Lili, who I knew when I was young."
"Yeah, really? Who is that?"
"A dog I picked up on the street and raised."
"Yes, I did."
As I recalled the memories, I nodded.
"One day, Lili went out for a walk alone and came back covered in scars. The neighborhood gangsters took out their anger on the puppy because I didn't smile at them."
Sarah's expression gradually hardened.
"There's nowhere to touch that little kid."
A voice so cold as to give me a chill rang out.
"Do you know where those kids are now?"
People who touch animals deserve to be punished by the evil woman.
I asked, secretly hoping for a refreshing ending.
"Where is it?"
Sarah smiled and answered.
"No."
"No...."
"They don't exist anymore."
Suddenly she raised her hand and touched my cheek, which was starting to turn blue and swollen.
"Ouch."
When I frowned at the stinging sensation, Sarah immediately removed her hand and lowered her head.
"Oh my, I'm upset. Really...."
She suddenly hugged me.
I blinked my eyelashes as I held Sara in her arms with a bewildered expression. I couldn't believe it.
Are you so angry now because I got hit?
I awkwardly raised my arm and patted her back.
"Sarah, I have some good news for you though. I decided to get married."
"Who doesn't know that?"
"With someone other than His Highness the Grand Duke."
There was a short silence, and I felt Sarah's arms stiffen. Immediately she pulled me away.
Ah, it was nice and warm. When I looked at Sarah with a lingering expression, she spoke with an even more shocked expression than before.
"I beg your pardon?"
***
Let me tell you in advance, that I am not a very timid person.
However, anyone would have no choice but to cringe in front of an angry.
Moreover, I know everything about Sarah's evil deeds in the original work.
No matter how nice you are to me now, I can't help but remember you.
Maybe I'm right, that's just the way it is.
"No, don't be angry, just listen. I really didn't want to marry the Grand Duke!"
"Is it okay to marry someone you found in just one day?"
Well, that's a common sense rebuttal.
"Good... He seemed like a person. It's not like I really have feelings for him, it's just a contract marriage to avoid the Grand Duke."
I swallowed nervously.
"Where does he live? What is his occupation, age, and appearance? What do his parents do? How many brothers and sisters does he have? Is it a genetic disease?"
"Ouch, my cheek hurt when I got hit all of a sudden. I want to go to sleep first."
Sarah's face became even more terrifying. I'm sure he won't use magic on me.
I opened my eyes harmlessly, pretending not to know that she was a warlock.
However, she was not a villainess who would fall for such a clumsy trick.
"You sure you don't know?"
"No no. No way. His name is Kael Belbrington, and his title is Count. Age is... He looked about 21 years old."
Sarah frowned.
"He's three years older than you. He is already eliminated."
"What are you talking about! I was about as tall as his shoulders, and his face was the most handsome man I'd ever seen in my life."
Sarah looked at my satisfied face as I thought about the man.
"Tall men are unlucky, and all those with handsome faces are fraudsters."
"I didn't have enough time to find out about his parents, siblings, and even whether I had a genetic disease."
"Good for you. I will continue to lack that time."
I stuck my tongue out at the tense standoff.
"Sarah, I understand that you don't trust me. But there is no way now."
"When I meet that person again, I'll introduce you first. "If you object even then, I will think again." After doing my best to persuade her, Sarah sighed deeply.
"Okay, so please sleep today. I'll bring some medicine and apply it to you."
"Yes,"
"It doesn't mean the conversation is over. Let's talk again tomorrow."
An argument was an argument. If she was so upset because she was worried about me, I didn't feel bad at all.
I laughed out loud as I looked at Sarah's back, who for some reason was beginning to feel more like a trustworthy older sister than a villainess.
"Wow...."
When I woke up the next morning. I looked in the mirror and frowned.
My cheek, where I got hit last night, was swollen and bluish, so it didn't look good.
"If you cover it up with makeup, it may fade, so just stay like this for today."
"Huh."
"Also take a steam bath."
Sarah nodded and placed her hand on my shoulder, wrapping it around me as if comforting me.
"It's okay, I'll pay you back a hundredfold later."
"Thank you for your words."
The word meant to stop.
Sarah smiled meaningfully and like a wicked woman.
