IDEFYEM - Chapter 26

IDEFYEM - Chapter 26

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

"Kael, were you the knight commander?"

"Yes. I also use a bit of sword."

No matter how much you hold the title of Count, if you want to be the leader of a knighthood, it won't be enough to use a sword.

Kael said as if it was nothing special. Somehow, even after working all night, he still worked hard at the gym!

While I was gaining enlightenment, Bacchus still looked like a ghost.

"Why are you doing that?"

"No, that... Are you really getting married?"

"Then are you going to lie?"

I was annoyed by Kael, who spoke as if he was annoying. We're in a fake marriage.

"Where are the rest?"

"Oh, I instructed them to take a short rest in the shade."

"Then, let's go there."

Kael, who was about to take his steps, saw me and asked.

"Is it still too hot?"

"If I say I can't walk because it's too hot, will you carry me on your back?"

"Yes."

The man answered immediately without hesitation. I looked at him strangely and said,

"It's okay, just give me your hand."

Without asking why, I grabbed the man's hand as he extended his arm and brought it to my flushed cheek.

"Ah, it's cool...."

Kael, who was looking kindly at me with a bright smile, suddenly spoke to Bacchus.

"Did you see it?"

“No, no.”

Bacchus, who answered while sweating profusely, looked pitiful and suddenly asked.

"Why do you speak so fearfully?"

"You mean me?"

"Have you seen it? It was like this."

Several times today, I felt like I was seeing the man look embarrassed.  Behind Kael, who was worried with a stern expression, Bacchus was standing behind him.

It seems like they're secretly sending a look of support in this direction, isn't it?

"If you don't like it, I'll fix it."

"It's Kael's business, so I can't say anything. I was just curious."

While we were having a trivial conversation, we climbed the hill and arrived in the cool shade. I greeted the knights, who seemed to be more than 30 people, warmly. The intention was to leave a good first impression.

"Hello!"

All eyes immediately focused on me. Feeling a little burdened by the concentration of dozens of people, I swallowed.

"Some of you may already know, but let's formally introduce it.  She is my fiancee."

Now that I think about it, I saw the face I saw in Kael's arms when I sprained my ankle. While I smiled and said hello, the first thing Kael said was this.

"As I have been until now, I am the leader in front of you. It doesn't change anything in front of her, so be careful what you call her."

Oh, the strict type. Kael must have sensed my interesting gaze and turned his head to ask.

"Why do you look at me like that?"

"Because you're cool."

His ears heated up slightly. Even if you don't have a heart, your reaction is honest.

"From now on, it would be nice to meet at the training ground every morning."

"Ugh, I don't like it because it's hot and I'm tired."

By the way, everyone's eyes are looking at me in this direction. It must be because of me, right?

As I was thinking deeply about the reason, I immediately let out a single word.

"How could I forget that?"

I pulled the man who was looking at me quizzically closer and whispered.

"Kael, we're having an affair! What if you bring me here!"

"... Yes?"

Officially, he was a mistress who stole me while I was engaged to the Grand Duke. What's more, the leader introduces me in front of knights who value integrity.

As I stamped my feet, Kael spoke.

"Calm down. It's not like that."

"I don't need any consolation, so I'll go back right away. I don't want to cause any more damage!"

Hmm, he raised his eyebrows and shouted without saying a word.

"I'll get to the point. Is there anyone who would volunteer to escort my fiancee?"

What if you ask that out loud? No matter how much I am, I can't help but feel hurt if everyone ignores me. I closed my eyes tightly and turned away from the knights.

"..."

When I took a deep breath and opened my eyelids again, the sight that was revealed was incredible.

"Uh, everyone... You raised your hand, right?"

"You are all welcome, Enri. As I said before, the problem lies with me."

I asked, looking around with my eyes wide open in a dream-like reality.

"Why on earth?"

Kael spoke to the hesitant group.

"It's okay to be honest. I promise there won't be any disadvantages in the future."

While everyone was watching, a courageous young man shouted loudly.

"Me too, me too... I want to work with people!"

Lamentations of concern for his future and sympathy for the content came from all directions. Kael shrugged his shoulders proudly. I mumbled, feeling dazed, happy, and somewhat depressed.

"Kael is also a very friendly person, but I don't think people know about you. Yes."

"So sometimes I feel very lonely."

I felt sorry for that deep voice and thought that I couldn't even hear the commotion around me.

'I have to do better from now on.'

Vice-captain Bacchus quietly intervened and asked.

"Perhaps I could apply too..."

Yes and no.

"What will be my future treatment?"

Kael answered with his usual expression.

"I will raise your current salary by half and exempt you from early morning training."

Even at first glance, the knights murmured at the unusual treatment.

"However, mistakes cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. Only apply to those who can risk their lives on their swordsmanship."

No one lowered their hands despite the threatening words. The vice leader's eyes were filled with joy as he looked at the members who believed in their abilities. Then Kael asked me.

"Enri, is there anyone you see?"

"Me?"

"As the person who will escort you, your preference is my top priority."

After listening to him, it seems to be true. I felt burdened by the gazes that were staring at me as if they were asking me to choose them. Unable to do this or that, the man suddenly frowned slightly.

"But if it catches your eye, that's another problem."

"Why?"

"Because I am a very jealous person."

"Really, I'm saying something that I don't even mean to say."

While I was snorting, the vice-captain who was hovering around approached Kael and said.

"Captain, I know you're busy, but just for a moment."

When Bacchus lowered his voice to a whisper, the man's expression changed to one of annoyance.

"Why are we talking about that now?"

"I didn't know you would be visiting with your fiancee today."

Kael approached me as I was watching the conversation with a feeling of hopelessness.

"Enri, I'm sorry, but...."

Are you going to leave me here alone?

No, it's uncomfortable!

I held his arm tightly and gave him a silent look. Kael, who was looking down at me with an embarrassed expression, immediately pointed out someone

"Hayden, you guide the Lady."

"Yes, Captain!"

I turned my head in the direction where I heard the answer. A young man who looked like he had just taken off his boyhood came running towards me with sparkling eyes.

"You have to come quickly...."

"It won't take long."

I reluctantly let Kael go and exchanged greetings with a young man called Hayden.

"It is an honor to serve you, even just for a moment, Lady."

He got down on one knee and placed his lips on the back of my hand. Feeling awkward about receiving greetings for the first time, I decided to say something.

"The leader himself gives orders, so I guess you are trusted even at such a young age."

For a moment, his wide eyes widened and his missing tail seemed to be wagging. Is this what it felt like when Sarah compared me to the dog she raised?

"Today, it's been exactly one month since I became an apprentice engineer. But when it comes to passion, I'm second to none here!"

Ah, it was a look in his eyes because he was a newbie. He said as he continued to move his body and fidget.

"Well, it's truly an honor to meet you, Lady!"

"Thank you for saying that."

"I'm not just saying this. I respect you the most in the world!"

Hayden continued, clenching his fists.

"As expected, I thought the leader's fiancee would be such an upright and beautiful person. I will do my best to entertain you while he is away!"

He was so excited. I blinked blankly and nodded as straight as possible. Hayden smiled proudly and started leading me around

"This is the training ground where we mainly train."

"The size is amazing."

I said, guessing the end of the invisible place.

"Every day at dawn, I start training by running 20 laps around the training ground."

Is that why everyone raised their hands earlier?

"Most sparring also takes place here. Sometimes the leader himself joins me in practice!"

I asked while imagining Kael using a sword.

"Are his skills good?"

I thought it was strange that the silence continued for quite a long time and looked at Hayden. He was astonished and asked,

'How can you ask such a question?'

It was a face like that.

"Captain... He is one of the most talented people on the continent. No one saw him lose."

Wow, was it that bad? Actually, I thought he was appointed leader because of his nobility rather than his swordsmanship. I was about to keep my mouth shut because I didn't know how Hayden would react if I told him that.

Whisper, thump.

The middle of the training ground where training was taking place with loud noise from earlier. The sound of something breaking was heard. It was actually a wooden sword that a knight was striking against a straw doll.

Blinking, I lowered and opened my eyelids.

'That... Are they flying at me?'

The fragments of the broken sword were getting closer at a speed that was impossible to avoid.

Thud.

At that very moment, Hayden, who was far behind, blocked my path as if protecting me. And I definitely saw it. A faint magical power that reflexively surrounded the fragments and slowed them down.

'Ah, but I still don't have enough strength...!'

The moment I thought that Hayden moved. He struck away the flying debris with a movement that seemed to transcend any realm.

"..."

My legs gave out without any time to sort out the confusing situation. If it had hit my head, I would have been in really big trouble. I felt dizzy for a moment and stumbled, and Hayden helped me up.

"Are you very surprised?"

The young face was seriously frozen. As I stared at that scene blankly, a strange belief bloomed in me. I thought that I would never die if this boy was by my side. I asked with more confidence than ever before.

"Hayden, would you like to be my escort?"
