EIITAB - Chapter 38 < A Man's Heart Like A Reed >

Even If It Is Trampled And Broken

'But I didn't say anything blunt like telling you not to look...'

So, for the first time in a while, Hestia looked at Aslan with peace of mind. Straight, thick eyebrows and a high nose bridge. As if revealing his personality, his straight, prominent eyebrow bones created deep shadows in his eye holes, and perhaps because of that, the outline of Aslan's face looked even stronger.

Hestia swallowed her sigh and thought.

There's only a little bit of his old face left. He became more manly. It was an undeniable fact.

After such an awkward moment...

Soon the carriage stopped. Only then did Hestia take her gaze away from Aslan, and he also raised his eyelids as if he had been waiting. Without even giving Hestia a glance, he opened the carriage door and got out first. Now that he no longer has eyes watching over him, he won't show any kindness.

This was when Hestia, who had guessed something, stood up hesitantly to follow him. In an instant, her legs lost their strength and she collapsed back into the spot she had been sitting on a moment ago.

"Come on."

But to her surprise, Aslan turned towards the carriage and found him extending his hand to her.

Hestia's purple eyes wavered slightly at his unexpected kindness. She swallowed her dry saliva and slowly stretched out her trembling fingertips to touch Aslan. Then his great strength pulled her, and when she came to her senses, Hestia was in the arms of Aslan, just as his enemy was about to climb into her carriage.

"Get off... If you give me a little support, I'll be able to walk."

She muttered in a voice that made Hestia crawl away in embarrassment. But Aslan did not put her down.

"Just staying still helps."

At those blunt words, Hestia gave up further insisting that she would walk. Although her physical condition had improved from the moment she left the banquet hall, it was true that her legs still lacked strength.

Therefore, she had no choice but to admit that it would be less difficult to accept Aslan's help as he said. Then, she remembered a being that she had postponed beyond her consciousness.

'Angela will be worried."

The only one on my side in the palace. She should have at least given Angela a hint. T She didn't know it would turn out like this either.

While she was sighing repeatedly, Aslan walked quickly into his mansion.

"Master, are you back now? But...?!"

Robert, who was bowing politely, was so surprised when he found Hestia in Aslan's arms that he took a deep breath.

Hestia lowered her eyebrows as she made eye contact with the butler. She didn't even bother to say hello, she figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to just lose her mind again if she could.

Meanwhile, Robert quickly shook off his embarrassment and skillfully adjusted his expression.

"It will take some time to prepare the guest room. If you understand that, we will prepare it right away."

 "There's no need for that."

A surprised expression flashed across the butler's face, who had barely managed to calm him down at Aslan's stiff answer, which came right back as if there was no room for concern. However, without providing any explanation, Aslan walked towards his bedroom with Hestia in his arms.

The steps are so hasty. Even though she knew he would never do that, Hestia felt like she was going to fall and she was scared. She gripped the front hem of Aslan's clothes even more tightly. He arrived in front of his room in an instant.

The butler followed along busily with a perplexed expression on his face as if he didn't know what to ask. When Aslan suddenly stopped walking, she was so embarrassed that he buried her face in the back.

"S-sorry."

The butler held his nose, took two hasty steps back, and lowered his head. Aslan looked back at Robert with angry eyes and sighed loudly.

"Robert, how far are you going to follow me?"

Robert's body trembled at the sound of Aslan's displeased voice.

"I am sorry."

"Just open the door and go back."

It was an order given because his hands were not free as he was holding Hestia. But Robert hesitated. The bedroom was an intimate space. Of course, Hestia had entered his bedroom on a rainy day before. But Robert was not a fool, so he noticed early on that the atmosphere of that day and today was quite different.

Besides, isn't the opponent his Lord opponent?

The butler tried his best to stop his master properly at least once.

"B-but master..."

But Aslan was adamant.

"Please do not disturb me until I call you separately."

"Yes..."

The butler had no choice but to reluctantly give the answer he wanted. But he couldn't move right away because of the hesitation in his heart. In the end, only after Aslan pointed to the door with his chin once more did the butler put his instructions into action with a pale look on his face.

Aslan went inside with Hestia in his arms. The butler, who paused for a moment, slowly closed the door. With a small sound, the bedroom was enveloped in darkness.

However, the eyes soon became accustomed to the darkness and were able to distinguish objects. Is it because the fireplace isn't on? The room looked more desolate and desolate than the last time she visited.

Also, it looks like the soundproofing is really good. They couldn't hear anything except each other's breathing. So Hestia heard things like the sound of Aslan's collar rubbing, or the sound of his shoes hitting the floor.

She couldn't help but be startled by the slightest noise. she admitted. Only then did she finally become overcome with tension. Aslan held Hestia in his arms and walked straight to her bed. Of course, she couldn't help but be embarrassed.

She thought he would at least give her time to wash up. Should she say that she wants to take a shower right now? And what if Aslan's mind changes? Hestia's mind became a mess, like muddy water.

Meanwhile, Aslan quietly placed Hestia on his bed. She swallowed her dry saliva as her soft sheets touched her ass. However...  Contrary to her expectations, Aslan immediately took his body away from her.

"This is the only proper room in the mansion."

 "Yes?"

Aslan just ignored Hestia's question and lifted himself up. His bright yellow eyes looking down at her were feigning indifference.

"Just go to sleep."

So he left a short comment and turned around. He just had to leave the room, but he stopped in place without even taking a single step.

"Wait."

That's why Hestia grabbed his collar from behind. Of course, it was a weak force to catch Aslan. Still, he had no choice but to stop. Is this what it feels like to be a helpless animal caught in a snare?

Aslan felt a tightness in his chest that he had never felt before. Meanwhile, Hestia thought he would shake off her hand right away, but surprisingly, he stayed silent and she looked surprised for a moment. Gathering her courage, she soon got up from the bed with a determined expression on her face. She then gently hugged his waist from behind.

"Do not go."

"Are you crazy?"

A hoarse voice came from Aslan.

"I can't let you go like this. If you don't hold me, we'll end up back at square one."

Aslan took a deep breath. She noticed that there was some heat in the sound of his wheezing breathing.

"Don't run away."

Hestia fanned Aslan a little more.

"Or are you not ready to embrace me?"

"... It's not even funny."

Aslan gritted his teeth and tried to pull away Hestia's hand that was holding his waist. However, Hestia had no intention of backing down like this, so she held on with her hands clasped together.

"The heart of a man like you is so reed-like that I can't believe it."

 "... What?"

"The story is that I think you will change your mind as soon as the sun rises."

It was so absurd that Aslan stopped laughing. He raised his hand and covered his eyes. Hestia couldn't miss this opportunity. She opened her mouth in a low voice that sounded like it would break at any moment.

"Assure me. Just like you declared earlier at the night's banquet to the nobles who were curious about our relationship."

 "..."

"Otherwise, you're just a bluff. You're a bluff."

Did the last provocation work? Aslan easily released Hestia's hand holding his waist and dropped it. Then he turned around without a sound. The moment she faced his expressionless face, where no emotion could be read, goosebumps appeared all over Hestia's body.

For the first time, she was a little afraid of Aslan. She ended up taking a step back. But there was no space, so her knees caught right on the edge of the bed.

Slam!

Her body was pushed backward and laid down on the soft bed.

Aslan folded one knee on her bed and gently put his weight on her. Then she put his arms around the sides of Hestia's small head as if to trap her, and looked down at her with fierce eyes like a wild beast.

"That's your problem. I can clearly see inside her head. Do you seriously think that provocation will work on me?"

The situation was enough to make her feel intimidated, but Hestia instead raised the corners of her mouth. The line that couldn't be found in the corner of her lips strangely stimulated Aslan.

"Yes."

Her smile reflected in the moonlight was so seductive that Aslan moved his neck significantly without even realizing it.

"And it seems like it was successful."

An alluring voice that seems half-submerged. Aslan gritted his teeth, his jaw tightening.

"You don't know that men are scary."
