SPMB - Chapter 88

My Body Has Been Possessed By Someone

After that, the days went smoothly. Kanna enjoyed the peace that had come for the first time in a long time, occasionally going out with Lucy or doing research in the lab.

And then an invitation came.

'I can't believe there's a day when I get an invitation too.'

The invitee was Leila, the Countess of Aberdeen. She sent an invitation along with a brief letter.

"The theme of the tea party is making new friends?"

It was an event where each person brought a close friend and introduced him or her to the other ladies, and Kanna and she invited each other because we wanted to become friends in the future, so we asked them to come.

More than anything.

"The dress code is black. Leah, what do you think about it?"

"How amazing. Is this a new trend?"

"Maybe so, maybe not."

"Yes?"

"What do you think? It's okay though? Get ready."

"All right."

"You can just ask El Andoit."

El Andoit.

The designer that every noblewoman covets has now become Kanna's exclusive designer.

Of course, it wasn't free.

'I heard a rumor that she received a huge amount of money."

There were rumors that she had been given a castle in the countryside, a small resort, and even became Kalen's mistress.

'In the first place, rumors tend to be exaggerated. What is clear is that Callen spent a large sum of money on Andois to avoid having to make clothes for other nobles.'

Kallen like that was funny.

Kallen treated her like a maid in the past. She can't believe that Kalen, who was locked her in the basement for several days and was on the verge of death, has changed so much.

'Kalen, no matter how guilty you are, that's true. He's acting like he's possessed by something.'

She didn't know what possessed him, but while he was possessed, Kanna was planning to make as much money as she could.

'It will be very useful until I throw it away.'

Kanna smiled happily.

"And I have to go see Her Highness Amelia for the first time in a while. Get ready."

It would be a good idea to go there to see the prognosis for skin diseases and just chat.

Kanna stood up.

A few days later, Kanna attended a tea party.

"Welcome, Duchess Valentino. Thank you for accepting my invitation."

Leila Everdeen came over and greeted her with a smile. But she soon opened her eyes.

"Oh, my goodness? Didn't you know that the dress code is pure white?"

It was like that. All the noble ladies at the party are wearing pure white dresses.

Like the only black swan among pure white swans, she was the only one wearing a black dress.

However, Kanna responded calmly.

"I looked at the invitation and it said black."

"Oh my, can't that be true? The dress code this time is pure white."

When Layla let go of the pretense, Kanna held out the invitation she had prepared. The Young Lady read it carefully, and then she made an apologetic expression.

"This. What should I do? It seems my maid made a mistake."

"Maid?"

"Yes. There was a separate maid who wrote the invitations, but I think she accidentally wrote that the dress code was black."

"That's so strange."

Kanna looked around.

"Is it possible to make such a mistake only on my invitation?"

"I will reprimand her harshly, so please understand with an open mind, madam."

Then the Marquis's daughter, standing nearby, laughed and joined in.

"Yes, Duchess Valentino. It's not a big mistake, is it?"

Starting with those words, noble ladies gathered one by one. It was like a swarm of ants flocking to sweet candy.

"The black dress suits you very well."

"is it so. I'm sure the white dress didn't suit you."

"It's a color that suits you well, so there's nothing to be offended by."

Kanna held back her laughter and listened to the words pouring out in silence. It was then.

"What's the fuss?"

It was a familiar voice. As the ladies, who had crowded around Kanna, moved to her side, a woman approached.

It was Princess Lilienne.

"Greetings Her Highness the Princess."

"Oh my, Duchess."

Lilienne spread her fan as if she was surprised.

"It's a black dress."

It's you. Kanna realized that the person who instigated this incident was Lilienne.

"How did this happen? Why is Duchess Valentino the only one wearing a black dress?"

"It seems my maid made a mistake, Your Highness."

"Please be severely reprimanded."

Lilienne snapped at Leila as if she were angry.

"If anyone doesn't know how ominous the color black is in the Empire, come out. Black is a disaster and bad luck. It's a symbol of misfortune that should never be approached, but you convey a dress code of that color."

At first glance, it seemed like they were taking Kanna's side, but they all ended up kicking her and slandering her.

As expected, the faces of Leila and the ladies standing next to her were full of joy.

"Your Highness is right. Just looking at black makes me gag... Duchess Valentino would be devastated to wear clothes of that color."

"Ah, I might want to die."

"I'd rather walk around naked than have black on my body."

Laughter and ridicule poured in innnon-stop.

"By the way, did the Duchess come alone?"

Lilienne tilted her head as if curious.

"You know the purpose of this meeting, right? It's a party where we introduce new relationships to each other."

"Yes, Duchess. The Duchess brought her friend too, right?"

Leila was excited and excited. She pretended to be snooping around her, even though it would have been obvious that she had entered alone.

"Please introduce me to the Duchess' close friend."

"Is it so. I'm really curious."

"I'm sure you didn't come alone, right?"

"It can't be. You are the mistress of a duke's house, so how can you be a loner without a single friend?"

Kanna knew that the purpose of this tea party was not to introduce friends. From the beginning, it was a party created to dismantle Kanna.

Kanna stared at Lilienne.

'You work really hard too."

Kanna was able to understand her life. All Lilienne had to do was work hard for her future.

'Well, Lilienne must be desperate for my place.'

Status as Duchess of Valentino.

Recently, there have been rumors that Kanna's relationship with Sylvien has improved.

Perhaps that's why it seemed like Lilienne was planning to make a dent in Kanna somehow.

'Well, it's a common thing around here.'

The social world is a battlefield for noble ladies. A battleground for noble women where their tongues, connections, and dresses become weapons and aim for power.

From Lilienne's perspective, Kanna was her enemy, and it was natural to attack her enemy.

But Kanna found this really annoying. Because she had no attachment whatsoever to her status as the Duchess of Valentino', she had no intention of fighting.

It's already hard to survive, so is it really necessary to go through this war of nerves one by one?

So je prepared something that could be finished in one shot...

"Oh? Duchess, why didn't you say anything earlier?"

The ladies around her burst into laughter at Lilienne's question.

"I wonder if you really didn't have a friend to call?"

Cough! Hahaha! Ahaha!

A loud laugh struck Kanna's ears.

"Poor Duchess. Well, I understand. Who is the Duchess and..."

It was then.

"Your Royal Highness Princess Amelia Isaberg welcomes you!"

For a moment, the surroundings were frozen brightly. While everyone suddenly closed their mouths, only the sound of shoe heels walking over each other was heard.

"The Count of Aberdeen invited her?"

Lilienne's harsh gaze fell on Layla.

"Oh, no, I..."

Leila stuttered with a trembling voice. That can't be possible, she didn't invite Amelia!

“Miss Kanna.”

As Amelia approached with a bright smile, the ladies surrounding Kanna took a step back. It was as if she was a talisman that warded off her evil spirits.

"I'm sorry I'm late."

"Her Royal Highness, you are now here."

Kanna greeted her warmly. Then she glanced at Leila, who was completely dumbfounded, and Lilienne, who was barely able to control her expression.

"You probably didn't know that I would invite Amelia."

Until now, Amelia had been hiding as if she were a recluse to hide her skin disease. She would never have thought she would attend a social party like this.

"However...."

Amelia looked around and frowned.

"What is this situation?"

Everyone is wearing a pure white dress.

"Didn't you say the dress code is black?"

"Ah, that's it."

Kanna stared at the Lady of the Count of Aberdeen with a sad face.

"I think you'll have to ask Lady Leila Aberdeen about that."

"The Lady of the Count of Aberdeen?"

Then Amelia's gaze slowly returned to Leila.
