ICTV - Chapter 23
I Changed The Villain
The hall where the party was held was crowded with guests, and the music gradually became more exciting. It was proof that the party was ripening. However, today's protagonist, Judith, did not appear. One by one, the guests had questions.
“When will Lady Henry appear?”
“That’s right, last year, Young Master Henry welcomed us from the very beginning.”
Then the hall suddenly became dark. The chandelier came on brightly again. In the middle of the hall, there was a golden harp that had not been there before. And Judith was standing in front of them. Judith, with light brown hair, was wearing a blue dress studded with small crystals. Judith put her hands together neatly.
“Thank you everyone for coming to celebrate my birthday. I don't know what to do because you came to the party, but you even prepared a precious gift for me."
Judith who is standing in front of the harp, sat down on the chair.
“In return, I would like to give you a performance, even though it is a poor skill.”
Judith has long been a beautiful woman who stimulates protective instincts and has been courted by numerous young people. With such a beauty standing in front of the instrument, people's expectations naturally soared.
“I wish my mother were here too. He really likes playing instruments.”
“Then, let’s all go to a concert together sometime.”
Rose still has champagne left. She put down her glass to focus on playing.
As if living up to people's expectations, Judith gently plucked the strings of the harp with her long fingers. A clear sound rang out. Judith took a deep breath and began to play.
"Beautiful."
A woman whispered unconsciously. But no one gave her permission. Because everyone was thinking the same thing. The performer, Judith, was beautiful, and the music coming from the harp was also beautiful. People were mesmerized and immersed in the performance. Right now, Rose was one of them.
The song Judith chose was very soft, like a drizzle on a spring day. If Rose had a cell phone, she would have recorded it right away and listened to it over and over again. Rose listened to music without even noticing the passage of time.
"Oh my God."
Judith plucked the last string. People who came to their senses from someone's exclamation began to praise Judith one by one.
“That’s amazing, Lady Henry…!”
“You are the one to be congratulated today, but we actually received a precious gift!"
Applause poured in for Judith. Judith bowed her head once again.
“Then I hope you enjoy the rest of your time.”
Belial lightly shook Rose's shoulder. Rose, who was dazed, just rolled her eyes and looked at Belial.
“Did you like Lady Henry’s performance that much?”
"... Yes. It's really amazing."
Rose nodded, but Belial looked puzzled.
“Actually, I had a chance to hear Lady Henry play three months ago, so I listened to it then too. It wasn’t that bad.”
"Is it so?"
“Something must have happened. There is a reason for rapid growth.”
That's a good reason. Rose wondered what it was. Belial looked at Rose with cute eyes.
“Do you want to know why?”
“Honestly, I’m curious.”
“It’s as sure as asking directly. There is no such thing.”
"Yes?"
With those words, Belial stepped back. When Rose was confused,
“Lady Pale.”
The owner of that voice was none other than Judith. She thought it would be hectic dealing with the crowd of people, but it looked like they managed to escape. Belial stepped back
Rose lowered her head.
“Happy birthday, Young Lady.”
"Thank you. Thanks for attending."
“Thank you.”
After saying that, Judith hesitated. What on earth is going on, such as suddenly sending an invitation and coming to see her as soon as the performance is over? Rose looked at Judith. Judith just sweetened her lips.
She walked away and pointed to the terrace.
“Is it okay to talk over there for a moment??"
Rose's heart began to beat rapidly due to the sudden situation. She nodded.
"Of course."
Judith was relieved and took the lead toward the terrace. Rose thought of all sorts of things as she followed Judith.
Why are you calling me to the terrace? This was unexpected. I thought the reason for inviting me was to attract people's attention, but it seems there were other reasons.
“Lady Pale.”
Under the dark night sky, Judith called out to Rose. As if closing the terrace door wasn't enough, I locked it completely.
“It’s a rude question, but.”
Do you really love Belial? So you're trying to snub me? I hope it's not just that. Is there anything more trite than that?
That was when Rose swallowed her dry saliva. Judith shouted, closing her eyes tightly.
“What kind of girl is Beryl like?!”
“[No, this isn’t it.]”
"Yes?"
It was a fresh development that she had been longing for, but it was so unrealistic that Rose ended up using Korean.
“[Heaven is indifferent, too. You don’t have anyone to fall in love with, so you fall for that guy? Satan must have done a magic trick on that poor little lamb. I heard that people are so bad these days that Satan is in danger of losing his job, but this isn’t real.]”
“P-Pale Lady. Why did you say something I couldn’t understand earlier…”
Rose suddenly came to her senses. It’s nonsense. Normally, when a person is too surprised, they say something unintelligible.
"That's right."
Judith cupped one cheek with her silky hand.
“I knew you would be surprised, but I didn’t expect you to be that surprised. I'm really sorry, Lady Pale. I asked this question without any context.”
"Are you okay? Even if we had talked about the circumstances, the result would have been the same.”
I can assure you that there is no younger sister who would not be surprised to see a girl who likes her older brother. Rose's face became serious. Judith was much prettier when she saw her up close.
Because Judith, who is popular among women as the number one daughter-in-law, not just Young Masters...
No, it's still too early to be sure. Rose tried hard to deny reality.
“Lady Henry.”
There was no way such a normal woman could have fallen in love with Beryl. There must be something going on. Rose approached Judith and whispered secretly.
“Have you found a weakness for my brother?”
"No...."
“Don’t do that, just be honest. Let me help you."
“There really isn’t anything, Young Lady. If I had received help from Beryl, I would have received it.”
“Then you have poor eyesight.”
“My eyesight is really good.”
Judith pushed Rose away.
“Then why did you ask that question? Why on earth??”
“That’s obvious...!”
Judith covered both cheeks.
“I fell in love with Beryl.”
Rose's body was shaking.
“Then the reason you invited us today…”
"That's right! I wanted to get advice from you!”
He also saw Beryl's sculptural face. Judith twisted her body.
“I’m sorry for inviting you two with impure intentions. But please forgive me, I tried to hide these feelings somehow...”
“Then I’ll pretend you didn’t hear what I said earlier, so try hiding it further.
Even for her mental health, Rose pleaded earnestly. Beryl cannot leave a stain on Judith's life, which has only a flowery path ahead. But Judith was adamant.
"No! It’s not possible anymore!”
"..."
“My feelings for Beryl are like fire…! No one can suppress it!”
There are some things that cannot be suppressed. How could something like that happen? Rose felt truly sorry for Judith.
“Actually, the performance I played earlier was also a performance dedicated to Beryl! For three months practiced really hard while thinking of Master Beryl. I don’t know if my feelings were conveyed properly.”
“If there was a reason like this hidden in the Young Lady’s playing skills, I should not have wondered about it.”
Rose was almost on the verge of losing consciousness. She should have died before this day came... Still, she must ask this one question. Rose gritted her teeth and barely held on to reason.
“I’m sorry, but may I know how the Young Lady fell in love with my brother?"
“You are asking an obvious question. Beryl is on a different level from other men!"
“Of course, he will be different. No matter what level the other man is, my brother will definitely be two levels lower.”
But this time, Rose's words did not reach Judith, who was lost in her own world. Judith leaned against the terrace railing.
“Thanks to Beryl, the man’s illusions, which were shattered by Brother Kedis, were restored.”
"..."
“I still can’t forget that day.”
It was a sunny day. Judith could not control her mind as the breeze gently blew through the window, and she begged Kedis to go on an outing.
Kedis, who had a prior relationship with Beryl, said she didn't like it, but couldn't resist the pressure from the elders and had to take Judith with her in the end.
‘Kedis, what are you doing? Let's hurry.'
Judith wears a bonnet to keep her skin from burning. It was when she took my parasol. In the next room, Beryl, who was waiting, urged Kedis out into the hallway.
‘If we keep doing this, we will get late. Are you not ready yet?'
‘I’m sorry, Beryl. I don't think I can go to training with you today.'
'Why?'
Kedis looks at Judith standing next to him. He glanced at her.
‘Some big lump wants to go on an outing. I was stuck.'
'Brother… !'
‘I can’t make you uncomfortable. Let's just do it next time.'
But Beryl was unfazed. He just shrugged his shoulders.
'If you think about it that way, I'm uncomfortable with you too. We're not close at all.'
'That's right. Whether there is one or two members of the Henry family, the inconvenience is the same.'
'Yes.'
Judith looked at the two with strange eyes. In the end, Kedis decided to go to the forest together and gave a firm warning.
‘Stay calm. If you hit them as hard as a fingernail, the elders will go crazy. It’s definitely within our line of sight.'
‘Don’t worry, brother. What kind of child am I?'
'You may be big, but you do what you do because you're a kid.'
‘Brother, please stop teasing me, please!'
'Okay, okay.'
Kedis responded half-heartedly and went ahead. He went down the stairs.
‘Just come down quickly. There's a long way to go.'
Judith nodded and walked down the stairs. But when she got halfway down, the bonnet straps, which had apparently been tied tightly, came loose. Oh my, how inconvenient. That was the moment when Judith grabbed the bonnet straps as she continued down the stairs.
'Oh my...!'
At that time, she couldn't think anything or make any judgments. Because it happened so quickly. It was before Judith even closed her eyes.
'Oh my.'
A strong arm grabbed Judith's back. Because he was wearing sleeveless clothing under her cloak, Beryl's muscular arms were clearly revealed.
'Are you okay?'
Judith couldn't say anything. Beryl tilted his head.
'I don't think there are any injuries.'
Beryl lifted Judith higher. Judith's feet spontaneously rose in the air.
