RLAAQ - Chapter 5 < She is Unreasonable >
Refusing Love as a Queen
"You are taking the sword out of the flames, hanging the rope over the cliff, and those who play tricks will die."
The Archbishop and Adele passed each other on the corridor."
"You will go to hell."
Adele put the secret letter into his sleeve, and at the same time responded to the Archbishop.
"Aren't I already in hell?"
Her voice was gentle, and there was something terrifying in it.
The Archbishop suddenly turned his head, the setting sun was slanting across the stone corridor, the Queen had gone far away, her shadow was stretched very long, and the light outlined a dazzling outline on one side of her, and left a deep shadow on the other side.
God can't save her, demons can't seduce her, and she walks in the Kingdom of God and hell at the same time.
It wasn't until the Archbishop received the news that the Templar Knights had been sent into the Palace of Days in a special way that he vaguely understood the meaning of the Queen's words.
Dalton pulled a trick.
When he was in a stalemate with the rebels, he made no secret of the fact that King Yager offered him 200,000 to buy the head of the Queen, with great fanfare, as if he was about to unite the Kingdom of Yager. The rebel nobles had to take heavy precautions against the port where the Yager fleet might land, and when they were distracted, Dalton dispatched a small group of elite mercenaries to the capital at full speed with ten cannons.
These cannons are all cast in bronze, and when they are thrown into the battlefield, they can tear apart the thick city walls like iron leopards. The cannon was mixed in the timber convoy, and almost no one found them along the way.
It is not difficult for the Archbishop to imagine the terrible direction the situation will take once these cannons fall into the hands of a 'weapon of war' like Dalton at this moment.
Fortunately, they were intercepted by Heinrich in time, and at this time they were less than a kilometer away from the capital, which was a distance that sent chills down everyone's back.
Although Adele Roland is a heretic playing trick, even a pious Archbishop must admit that she has made great contributions in preventing further escalation of the situation.
For a moment, the Archbishop felt a little worried.
Dalton has a long reputation for cruelty, and if he finds out that the Queen is behind it all, there's no telling what he'll do.
Soon, the Archbishop realized that he should not worry about heresy while praying to God.
Only then, the Archbishop didn't understand one thing.
How would the Queen know about Dalton's plan?
***
The Queen and her maid are resting in the rose garden of the Day Palace.
Out of respect for the ladies, the gunners who 'protected' the Queen only stood in the corridor and did not approach.
"It is said that they were stopped in Erin town."
Kelly told the hostess the news in a soft voice.
"Heinrich has always acted quickly. Adele said, " If you lose ten cannons at once, even Moore's mercenaries who are known for their wealth will suffer unless Dalton can come up with another large sum of money, otherwise he will never think about the mercenaries going forward.
"You and..."
Kelly hesitated, not knowing whether she should ask her doubt.
Adele saw what she was thinking and smiled.
"The Heinrich family has always wanted to monopolize the wool export industry from the Rose Strait to the Bay of Paradise, and this is the root cause of participating in the mutiny. The royal family has previously passed the wool export policy. The protection law of the trade union. But the Yegar Kingdom and the Heinrich family have always competed fiercely in this regard. When I promised to forgive them and give them permission to arm civilian ships, they knew what choice they had to make."
A gust of wind blew, and the trees with the whirling sound of the flowers in the bushes, the Queen lay down halfway, resting on her elbows leisurely, flipping through the books carelessly.
At the end of July, the temperature in Roland was still very high. On occasions when political authority is not needed, Adele did not wear those pearl-filled dresses but only wore a looser white silk dress, the light shone through the leaves and shattered her body, decorating graceful curves like stars.
Even so, what they discussed was a bloody and vicious topic.
"As for Dalton..." Adele smiled, "People should always pay for their arrogance and prejudice."
Dalton made a fatal mistake.
He gave the Queen 'freedom' to move around the castle out of political considerations.
These days, the Queen has often ascended the castle tower to relax, which is not unusual for a woman under house arrest. But she used this to carefully observe the changes in the defense of each crenel in the castle and deduced his plan.
If it had been a King instead of a Queen who had been imprisoned, Dalton might not have made this mistake. It is true that he valued Adele enough, but the prejudice of the times still limited his thinking: people think that women are weak in spirit. The lack of wisdom and will makes them only serve as men's vassals.
No one thought that a woman could be proficient in military affairs.
She has no armor, but a sword in her heart.
"He is a smart man. Now that he is negotiating, he can still suppress the nobles on the merits of suppressing the rebellion. He knows what he should do."
The Queen turned the pages of the book, smiled, and said cold and cruel words.
"If he is not smart enough, then go on. Let him have to be smart."
Dalton's anger swept the castle like a storm.
The mercenaries refused to move forward. After King Jager heard about this, he immediately changed his original attitude and became stronger as if Roland's throne was already in his pocket. If he wants to preserve greater interest, then he can only reconcile with the noble's rebel party has released a signal for negotiation.
Everyone involved in the plan, from lieutenants to staff officers, was scathingly investigated. Dalton is almost digging three feet to find the traitor.
Nothing.
When Dalton's boots stepped on the stone surface, almost no one in the entire castle dared to look at him in a rage. He rubbed the gun at his waist, thinking of many names... One of them quickly passed through his mind.
He catches it. Adele Roland.
Compared with other people, this suspicion is almost absurd. Dalton never underestimated the Queen's attraction to men, so even those who protected her were not allowed to get too close to the Queen, let alone those involved in the war.
But Dalton has always valued his intuition.
Holding the handle of the gun along the corridor, he went straight to the garden, and the expression on his face was so cold that one could mistake him for the devil.
However, after passing through the Marble Arch, the rose garden of the Kingdom of God suddenly appeared before his eyes.
Under the laurel trees are small shrubs and flowers bushed carefully pruned by the gardener. The flowers are either deep or shallow, thick or light, and bloom among the leaves. The Queen in a loose white silk dress is half lying in the shadow of a rosebush, with bright red roses on top of her head, and the petals fall on her moonlight curly hair, and fall on her waist and shoulders that undulate like willow branches. She lazily propped up her pretty face, flipped through the open-page coloring book, and whispered something to the maid beside her.
For a moment, Dalton believed that the stories depicted in the holy paintings were true and that the Virgin Mary would indeed tell beautiful stories to redeemed souls in the rose garden of the Kingdom of God.
The air is filled with a sweet floral fragrance, rich as a dream.
Before Dalton could react, he had stopped for a while until the female dynasty looked over at him.
She didn't know what to say to the head maid just now, and there was still a little smile on her lips.
Dalton let go of his hand on the butt of the gun.
He stepped on the grass as soft as a thick blanket and walked towards the Queen, the head maid got up and backed away.
The afternoon air was exhausting. Seeing Dalton approaching, Adele lazily raised a hand so white that it was almost glowing, causing Dalton to kneel down and kiss her arm without getting up.
"Why are you coming here?" Adele asked.
"Our General actually appeared in such a place where women stay?"
Dalton knew that she was teasing him.
He was born as a commoner, and he was not welcomed in the gardens where the nobles liked to spend their leisure. He did not avoid some unnecessary troubles, so he simply seldom entered such places. This has become proof that he doesn't understand customs and art.
"Our mercenary was intercepted."
Dalton didn't miss any change in the Queen's expression.
"Someone revealed the news to your dear mentor."
"Are you doubting me?"
Adele sat down. Standing up, her sharp gaze fell straight into Dalton's eyes.
"You and Sir Heinrich have a deep relationship..."
There was a crisp sound.
The Queen slapped hard and fast, and with all her strength, even the 'weapon of war' was slapped heavily on the cheek. Dalton didn't understand what happened at first, his face was already hot. The moment he realized it, he almost immediately reached out to draw his gun.
Kelly, who retreated into the distance, screamed and was about to rush forward.
"Stand there, Kelly," the Queen snapped.
The fury of being slapped hard didn't abate, but Dalton managed to regain his sanity. Adele's order reminded him that what he was facing now was the Queen of Roland, who was his most important pawn. It would be too wasteful to lose it like this.
"Come on, shoot." Adele said, " Shoot now."
When he met Adele's eyes, Dalton's anger went black for a moment.
"Okay!"
Adele gritted her teeth, The lines of her face became cold and sharp, but tears filled her eyes at some point, those beautiful eyes were like roses washed by the rainstorm.
"It really should be seen, Roland's most outstanding military genius is like this! I trust your talent and ability, I trust your reputation and courage, I trust your invincibility. So I don't care about here. It's fine if you didn't bring me the crown of victory, but you want the prison bird to bear the crime of defeat?"
The laziness brought about by the afternoon rest was swept away by the Queen, she was angry but her eyes narrowed waterlight.
"Tell me! Tell me!"
Her voice was filled with disappointment and anger.
"Mr. The most outstanding military genius! That's where your achievements come from?"
