SFBLFD - Chapter 73

A few days later, new pillars were erected near the walls. Soldiers and villagers joined forces to begin building a new food warehouse.

The hands that hammered nails into the pillars and weaved wooden planks together were strengthened by the memories of that day when they endured the storm together.

Odelia wrapped a veil around her head and took up her hammer. No longer a war hero fighting for them, but as one of the owners of this land, protecting it together.

The people of Talamand, seeing this sight, engraved a deep faith in their lord in their hearts.

Odelia, as usual, was going out to tend the land herself. Seeing this, Allan hurried over.

'Odelia. Let's go play somewhere nearby today."

"Why are you going out to play again? You have to go and work."

"Since people are here, wouldn't it be okay to rest for a day or so? It's so hot, my skin is peeling. My hands are also chapped."

Normally, she would have been able to tell Gideon to take Allan and go somewhere, but now Gideon was gone.

Gideon, a bourgeois who ran a trading company, took over the family business and became quite busy. He was away conducting business with foreign countries, leaving Odelia to deal with Allan.

Allan was a man who couldn't understand why Odelia had to work so hard, even though she was a well-bred young lady who had never worked before.

Now that things had gotten a little better, it was time to take some time off.

"Allan, you don't have to come just because I'm going. If you don't want to go, then don't go. I'll be back."

Allan gently tugged on Odelia's dress as she tried to leave. He lowered his eyes, feigning shyness, but then looked intently at Odelia.

"But I can't send my wife away alone. How could I leave you alone and play? Aren't couples one and the same?"

"..."

"..."

"If anyone hears this, they'll misunderstand, Allan."

"Misunderstanding! We are definitely a married couple."

If anyone heard this, they would think it was a very affectionate song. Odelia ignored it and walked away as if there was no need to hear any more.

He's just bored and lonely since Gideon left, and he doesn't want to work, so he's using his beauty as a weapon.

Unaware of Allan's desire to give Odelia some rest, she ignored Allan's cries of sorrow and continued walking.

As she arrived at the front door, she saw a carriage she had never seen before.

Is that Sir Damien? Odelia approached slowly and examined him, but she couldn't find the seal of the Marquis of Bardo.

The carriage was filled with large sacks of grain and gleaming new plowing tools.

“Who sent it?”

The workers shrugged as they moved the boxes.

"We don't know either. We were just told to move here, so we just came."

That's strange. Odelia immediately called Allan over and asked.

"Did Allan buy all of this?"

"No, I'm not. If my brother sent it, he would have said so... But the receipt doesn't have the sender's name on it."

A neatly organized list and receipt were attached to the envelope, and Odelia flipped through several sheets with a puzzled expression. However, the sender's name was nowhere to be found.

The supplies sent were all of the highest quality. She was wondering if she could just use them without knowing who sent them, when she heard a low, determined voice.

“Use it.”

"Sir Damien! Herse!"

Herse ran out and hugged Odelia, who looked up in surprise.

While Odelia was quickly picking up the child, Allan stood beside her and spoke curtly.

"What, why didn't you tell me? What is this?"

"Just think of it as a support item."

Then he passed Allan and approached Odelia.

"I just kept my promise from last time."

"Sir Damien... Thank you so much. I don’t know if I can accept all this.”

"Don't say things like that, just use it comfortably. If there's anything you need, feel free to tell me anytime."

"Why are you being so secretly affectionate to my wife?"

At Allan's rather dissatisfied voice, Herse, who was in Odelia's arms, laughed out loud.

"My dad likes my aunt! I like my aunt too!"

"I like you all too."

As Odelia smiled and stroked Herse's head, Herse became even more excited and hugged Odelia's neck tightly.

"Herse, you must be polite, it will be uncomfortable for your aunt."

As Damien gently reassured the child, Odelia quickly waved her hand, repeatedly saying it was okay.

Damien clicked his tongue inwardly as he watched Odelia smiling kindly.

'Why would you want to hide it when you could have just given it to her directly? You're the type of person who always takes care of things from behind and doesn't show off, so it's okay if it's taken away. Well, I don't care though.'

Odelia felt much better thinking that the supplies were from Damien, so she used them to plow the land and distributed what was needed to each household.

A new fence was built in her heart, and the sound of children running and laughing spread day by day. In this way, Talamand was slowly regaining its vitality.
