TWDR - Chapter 66

Gremory's eyes widened in horror. Chession still held her hand tightly.

Alice, who was watching from behind, quietly interjected.

"Hoho, witches can't refuse a contract that humans offer first. Sister Mori, you have no choice but to accept it."

"...It's your ruse, isn't it?"

Gremory's gaze became clear. Alice turned her head to the distant mountains and smoked a cigarette.

"How could it be, hmm?"

"You, let's go home and see you."

"Yes, come home. See you at home. Hoho~"

Alice laughed heartily. Gremory let out a deep sigh and made eye contact with Chession. His purple eyes were as warm as ever.

"What should I take from you in return?"

The familiar and longed face of Chession was nearby. Gremory carefully reached out and touched Chession's face.

The sharp core in her heart gradually disappeared. The more she did that, the more she realized it. It wasn't because of her appetite that Chession came to mind so much.

'I wanted to stay by this man's side forever.'

Maybe she wanted Chession to come to her like this. He said everything was fine and that he could handle it, and wanted to take her away.

Seeing him feel so relaxed, it seemed that he was quite desperate.

"I'm signing a contract with you. As you wish. I will always be by your side. Instead, you..."

"..."

"Love me."

Chession hugged Gremory in his arms. Gremory, buried in the arms of her longing, melted away without a trace.

"Yes, I will love you. No matter what."

"...Contract signed."

Gremory's pupils glowed red. At the same time, a restraint was stuffed around Chession's neck. The restraint and the chain were held in Gremory's hands. Chession fiddled with the restraint and asked.

"What is this?"

"If you cheat, I'll pull you."

"Why am I cheating? It's always on your side that the opposite is twisted."

"I'm not interested in other guys. Everyone is ugly except for you."

"Really?"

"Yes, really."

Chession, who burst into a happy laugh, wrapped his arms around Gremory's cheeks and kissed her. Gremory hesitated for a moment and then surrendered herself to Chession's hand.

Alice covered Seara's view with her hand.

"Seara, things seem to be going well, so we're just missing this, hoho."

"Hmm..."

Seara shyly took Alice's hand and left.

Chession used the return magic scroll and returned to the Grand Duke's residence. He carried Gremory, who was sleeping from exhaustion, on his back.

He passed by the members of the Grand Duke's residence who had come out to greet him and led Gremory to her bedroom. Afraid to put it down on the soft bed, Gremory rolled the blanket around her body.

'What is it? Is it instinct?'

He was surprised to see Gremory recognizing her quilt even while sleeping. Chession sat by the bedside and stayed by her side for a long time.

'The shape of your face doesn't make sense. When you wake up tomorrow, I'll let you eat a lot of goat meat.'

The plump cheeks were missing, as if she hadn't eaten well. Chession carefully reached out and stroked Gremory's face.

Witch, Witches.

How can a witch be so lovely? He can't believe there is such a peculiar and beautiful witch in the world.

"Mori. You saved my life. My horribly gloomy life was changed by you."

Chession whispered.

"Thank you for coming back. I love you so much."

Gremory wriggled. Did you wake up? Silent as if dead, Chession quietly left the bedroom.

Quietly closing the bedroom door and coming out, Chession ran into someone and was embarrassed.

Iris was wearing an arrogant hat and glaring at her brother.

- Older brother

"What, Iris? Why do I see you?"

- Because of the contract with the witch, you must be able to see ghosts. By the way, brother.

"Oh my God, are all the black-haired women in the hallway over there ghosts? There were so many ghosts living in my house?"

- Older brother. I'll call you.

"Huh! Yes, Iris! I'm so glad to see you again! How have you been all this time?"

- I couldn't get along! This brother is real! It's not enough to bring a witch home, so the two of you even hit each other's eyes?

Iris slammed her brother's back with her palm. Chession hunched over to avoid Iris.

"Ugh! I'm glad to meet you, but why did you hit me all of a sudden?"

- As a younger sister, I need to nag you a bit. I'm glad Gremory is a good witch, but what if she were a terrible witch!

"Uh, everything was fine anyway. Stop hitting me!"

- And I mean, why are people so ignorant? The witch didn't hide her identity, so how could you not notice it for a long time?

"I was suspicious at first! But I just didn't believe that there were witches in the world!"

Iris sighed, scratching the back of her head.

- Ha. Anyway, take good care of Gremory. I don't know when or how the witches will attack again.

"I've bought the holy relics, and the race that attacked me has been taken care of by Gremory, so I'll be safe for the time being. Don't worry, when the sun breaks tomorrow, we will put up a sacred relic."

- Don't just trust the relic shield too blindly. Maybe the witches will try to pull you out of the shield somehow? Witches are not stupid. Except for Gremory.

"How smart is our Mori? Do you say that? How good is she at handling documents?

- I did it all. That naughty witch pampered me like crazy. I made a wish to protect my brother in return. I had to become a Gremory's handyman. Oh, yes, my soul walked too.

Chession's eyes faded.

"Did you walk to your soul?"

- Yes, brother. The siblings are on a leash by a witch.

"It's okay. Mori won't hurt your soul. Because you are my sister."

- You know what? Did Seara bet her soul on Alice?

"...All the royal family members have been possessed by witches."

- And I have an important story to tell.

"What is it?"

- I followed you to the race. This is the Orb Fragment of the race that Gremory broke.

Iris held out a small piece of glass.

Magical power was rising from the glass shards like black smoke. It seemed that the power was gradually evaporating from the broken shards.

"You just followed a top-notch witch? Are you crazy? It's dangerous."

- I'm a little brave because I look like you. Anyway, it seemed like the race was relying on the power of the orb. The orb broke, so I couldn't do anything and ran away. I was curious about where he was going, so I followed him, and he was in contact with another witch. It seemed like the two of them were friends.

"Is there one more witch?"

- That's all I know. I had to bounce right away because my eyes were on the race.

"From now on, don't follow dangerously alone. What if you get hurt?"

- It's all right. That's not going to happen. I have a special power that my brother doesn't know.

She quietly approached Chession. And she revealed the witch's symbol, red eyelights, and pointed fangs.

- Actually. I'm a real witch.

"Uh-oh! Hmm!"

Chession, who was screaming, covered his mouth with his hand. Iris, who had become dazed, hid her eyelids and fangs.

- Sorry, I didn't expect to be so surprised.

"What, you! Apparently, you came out of my mother's womb. How can you be a witch? So am I also a demon?"

- It's not like that. Do you remember that time? When you came back from a demon hunt, I was witch-hunted.

"How do I forget about it? It was the worst day of your life and mine."

- I was really sick at that time. I was in so much pain that I couldn't come to my senses, but at some point, the pain started to disappear. And when I came to my senses, I was a witch.

"So you mean, if a person suffers severely, he can turn into a demon?"

- Not all of them, but I think my case was a bit special. The other dark-haired women didn't become witches, no matter how much they suffered.

Iris's expression sank bitterly.

- I was burned at the stake because I was afraid that the world would find out who l was. I thought it was right for me to disappear from my brother's side... I don't think it should have been like that.

"...Iris."

- Brother. I'm sorry I died. And I missed you.

"It's okay. I wish I could see you again like this. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you either.

Chession hugged Iris and slowly patted her back. The ghosts who were snooping in the hallway watched the siblings with proud smiles.

That night, Chession was able to sleep peacefully for the first time in a long time. It was thanks to regaining everything that had been lost.

The ghosts stayed up all night for the sleeping Chession and Gremory. Maybe witches will come into the Grand Duke's residence. Sitting on the roof of the Grand Duke's residence, Iris spent her time looking at the night sky.

It was a peaceful night.
