TPITT - Chapter 177

Inside the barracks, four members of the royal family gathered and sat around a wooden table.

The direct knights quietly performed their roles, standing behind each royal family member's chair.

“Start reporting, Eve.”

Brigitte was the older sister, but she arrogantly spoke to her subordinates and gave orders.

I didn't want to see that sight, so I vowed to become the Crown Princess as soon as possible.

“Yes. Then I'll tell you about the demon attack and the situation at the outpost.”

I summarized the events that led up to the defeat of the demonic legion, the state of disrepair of the village, the state of the supplies, and the three days of exploration.

Of course, I left out the story of using the Silver Arachne when defeating the army of demons and discovering the black gold mine.

Even after leaving out two such important anecdotes, there were still enough surprises to make Brigitte and Derek's eyes widen.

“What? Did you just say that the World Tree is called Gradrasil?”

“Is it true? You found a branch of the World Tree and planted it?”

I nodded calmly at Bridgitte and Derek, who were urging her fiercely.

“Yep. Luckily, I managed to get it planted and it's growing big and beautiful now. As brother Derek knows, I have a knack for gardening magic.”

Derek's face grimaced as if a bad memory of being nearly buried alive had come back to him. I smiled benevolently.

“In that sense, I think I will name this land Gradrasil.”

“Name it after you are sure that the tree you planted is the World Tree.”

Brigitte sounded uneasy and took a cautious approach, which was natural for her.

The World Tree Gradrasil is a legendary artifact comparable to the Philosopher's Stone.

If it was reported to the palace that such a thing had been successfully grown, it was clear that I would be recognized for more than just discovering the tail magic of Galamut.

'Ha! There was a World Tree in this useless pioneer land. If I had known, I would have found it first!'

Brigitte lamented inwardly. It wasn't as if Brigitte hadn't fallen from the top of the immovable to the top of the movable shortly after Eve's discovery of the Enchantment.

She didn't want Eve to play ball anymore. No, it was clear that it was something she wanted desperately to stop.

'Wow, your eyes are scary, sister.'

No, now Brigitte's eyes were the eyes of someone who was scheming, someone who was plotting something sinister and terrifying. It was clear that she was going over 31 different ways to defeat Eve and intercept the ball in her head.

They were sisters who could never look each other in the eye and smile under the same sky. With nothing to be afraid of, Eve smirked and said what she had to say.

“Once the meeting is over, I will guide you straight to the World Tree. If it's Betty's eye, you will recognize the world tree at a glance. My sister's guarantee will be a good reference for Father.”

It was provocative content that did not suit her gentle face.

The implication was that if Eve were to try to falsify the authenticity of the world's numbers to stop the ball from rolling, Desmond II would only use Brigitte's opinion as a reference, so don't bother.

This is because the intention was to use it only for reference, so don't waste your time.

“Seeing you acting so brazenly, it seems like it’s not an empty boast. Please continue your report.”

"All right."

From now on, the important story was about to begin. I said that this attack by the monster army was unusually strong.

I informed them of the fact that I had done so, and also shared what I believed to be the cause of the incident.

“We suspect that something has gone wrong with one of the five sealing stones used to seal the Demon Dragon Ambroxa. Currently, the town is using Gradrasil's power to keep the turbidity at bay, but in places farther away from Gradrasil, the turbidity has been observed to grow thicker by the day.”

“That’s not a good sign.”

“The repercussions will be many and varied: savage beasts will rampage, more people will have nightmares, and most of all, there is the danger that the seal of the unstable demon dragon will be broken.”

“Of course. The sealing stones are designed to be five in parallel so that if one fails, the others will continue to function. But that puts a lot of stress on the other four, and we'd better hurry before another one breaks.”

Brigitte's fiancé's family made money in the magic military weapons business.

It helps that Brigitte's fiancé's family is the Marquis of Belteor, who made his fortune in the magical armaments business.

I spread out a map of the land of the dragon, or rather, Gradrasil, and explained the main points.

“The first sealing stone was discovered in a quarry.”

“I guess we can infer the spacing based on the seal.”

“As long as it stays in place, that is. And while I was able to find the first sealstone in no time because there were no obstructions in my line of sight, I'm not sure about the others. Outside of Dandelion, it's all dense coniferous forest.”

“All things considered, we'll give the search a week. We'll divide the area around the seal into quarters, and each Knight will be responsible for a section.”

“Are you talking about four equal parts?”

I looked down at Brigitte's decision and Rosenite flinched. That was because it meant that the White Night Knights were also assigned a search mission.

“Why? Do you have something to say?”

“The imperial code of law requires that knights outside the palace must always carry the imperial family within a certain distance. As long as the Knights are connected to the imperial family, the White Knight is bound to move with the Rosie, so I think it would be better to assign the White Knights to guard the outpost.”

It was me who stepped forward. I didn't particularly want to favor Rosenite, but I didn't want to pay the wrong person for the job.

But Brigitte was adamant. She even came up with a solution right away as if she'd been thinking about it for three days.

“There are exceptions to every law. As a member of the royal family and the highest commander, I am the one who ordered the expedition to ‘deliver the demons.’ I would like to apply the rules of the ‘Hunting Competition’.”

“...Ah, indeed. There was such a thing.”

“Yeah. After all, this exploratory mission is not a demon hunt, but a hunting tournament of sorts, and I will allow the imperial family and their knights to move about individually.”

I didn't immediately agree and sat deep in thought. But Brigitte moved quickly as if she wanted to sneak through.

“Any objections, Rosie?”

Brigitte asked Rosenite, not me as if the final decision rested with her.

Meanwhile, Michael, who was standing behind me, glared at Rosenite and shouted with his eyes.

'Say no, 8th Princess.'

If the rule is applied, I and Mikael could also fall. Given the current climate of confrontation between the two heirs to the throne, this is not a desirable situation.

Of course, the chances of Rosenite helping me and Michael's lives were extremely low.

“Yes, no objection. Is there anything I can’t do? I’ll ask to join the White Night.”

“Yeah, that’s right.”

Brigitte smiled with satisfaction as she watched Rosenite respond with a bang as if she could do it too.

I decided to acquiesce for now.

Because the calculation was quite correct.

'Now that we're enforcing the rules of the hunt, I'm going to use my sisters and brother to slaughter a bunch of demons.'

I planned to build a series of roads disguised as supply routes on well-developed land to ward off the seeds of evil.

An excellent transportation network will accelerate the development of the Gradrasil territory in the future and enrich the lives of the Dandelion residents.

Just thinking about it was so rewarding that a smile naturally appeared on my lips.

Each knight sect decides on an exploration area to be taken charge of and takes charge of defending the outpost.

The meeting concluded by deciding on the order of attendance.

We decided to start the full-scale exploration tomorrow. Now that the meeting was over, it was late afternoon, a bit of an awkward time to go into the forest.

On top of that, Brigitte and Derek, newcomers to Dandelion, had their own work to do, and I, who had joined the Luciard Architectural Society, had my own work to do.

As they left the barracks, the village chief Helione and the landowner Morien greeted Brigitte.

Brigitte is pleased with the turn of events and orders me to explain the town to them and lead them to the three counters.

“Phew, it’s over.”

Only I and Michael are left in the barracks. I was exhausted from dealing with Brigitte. I buried myself deeply in my chair and sighed.

Michael naturally placed his hand on the base of my neck.

"Oh."

Is this sudden dense contact?

I flinched, but a steady hand gripped my shoulder.

While I was secretly feeling embarrassed, Michael continued to massage me.

“How about taking a break?”

“Hmm, seeing that Anais is outside, I assume that means she's in a meeting with the building craftsmen?”

“I guess so. We'll save the story for dinner later.”

“Oh, right. Dinner.”

Michael's words brought up an important issue. It was soon necessary to reveal that Dandelion's stock was the Monster sausage.

I was kind of looking forward to Brigitte's chewy gizzards going into her mouth, but when I thought about having to feed them to Anais as well, I felt self-conscious.

“Oh, I didn’t bring Anais here to make her suffer like this.”

“She might actually enjoy it.”

“Was it edible?”

“...I think it is a nutritious food that is good for stamina.”

The words he wrote to keep my spirit in check came out exactly as they were. It seems that they were also used for Michael's self-brainwashing.

I smiled slightly and said.

“Yes. Let’s eat a lot because it’ll be no joke when we get back to the palace.”

“I’m looking forward to that.”

Michael bent down and bit my earlobe with his lips. In a surprise attack.

I was slightly surprised, but quickly regained my composure. Then I tilted my head and pressed my lips to Michael's.

“A surprise attack is a surprise attack.”

“Maybe it's just my mood, but sometimes I think your reaction time isn't so bad.”

“It seems to be limited to Michael.”

Whatever the context, the word limitation was sweet. We exchanged smiles.

After a while, Michael showed signs of retreating as if he was disappointed. He still had the mission he had received from me earlier.

“Then I’ll go and look into the nightmare problem.”

“Yes, I’ll be back.”

Michael left the barracks, escorted by me.

Alone, I folded my waving hands neatly in front of me, deep in thought. Now I had to solve Sylvestian Millard's problem.
