TCIWTFY - Part 2 Chapter 6

After the Imperial Proclamation Ceremony was over, Medea began to seriously investigate Rachel's whereabouts. It was around the time when the Saintess appeared in her previous life.

But even Medea could not have expected that she would appear before her eyes on her own two feet.

Why now, why here.

Questions that could not be asked or answered arose. Reason and emotion clashed and created a whirlpool.

The sweet neck of the enemy that appeared before my eyes was like the good and evil that tempted Medea.

'I shouldn't get carried away by emotions.'

She knew the story of fools who fall blinded by a moment's desire for revenge.

Knock, knock.

The index finger tapping the surface felt like it was digging into the table.

The vase on the table shook slightly. Medea reached out her hand toward the flowers in the vase.

Crash.

The delicate rose was crushed and broken in her hands. Medea stood up, ignoring the scars on her palm.

The scent of roses wafted from the place she had left, almost disgustingly strong.

Valdina Central Palace.

The Agemas, who guarded the Emperor's bedroom where Peleus was staying, welcomed Rachel.

"His Majesty still staying in his lodging. He must still be recovering from the aftereffects."

It was a rather friendly attitude.

"His Majesty's purification is not yet complete."

"Lady Rachel, didn't I tell you that you could only see if His Majesty requested it? Why did you come here so suddenly..."

As Menil made a troubled expression, Rachel held out a small wooden box as if she had been waiting for it

"Yes, I know. Here, this is for the knights. Sir Menil, please share it with others."

Inside the crude box were several vials of a dazzling blue light.

Agema's deputy commander, Menil, immediately recognized the identity of the vial.

"This is... Holy Water."

"Yes, I couldn't give you some because I ran out a while ago. So I made some more."

Rachel blushed in embarrassment.

"It may not be comparable to the holy water of the temple, but it is better than nothing."

"There is no comparison. This is holy water given by the Saintess herself. It would be difficult to obtain even with gold."

Menil accepted the box without hesitation and repeatedly thanked him.

Because he thought of his colleagues who had not yet fully recovered.

"But, Rachel, you must be feeling unwell, so why don't you write to me first?"

"I'm fine. I'm just a little tired. It's thanks to you, gentlemen, for protecting me."

"But you still need to take care of your health. I appreciate that you take care of even mere lumps of metal like us, but..."

"Don't say that. If it weren't for you, my hometown would have been swept away by a horde of ghouls and turned into a wasteland. I'm just grateful that I can help in this way."

Rachel shook her head, her soft blonde hair swaying. Her calm eyes were filled with peace and love.

Indeed, she is the representative chosen by the goddess.

Menil was inwardly impressed.

Rachel's good deeds captivated the Agemas during her long journey from the plains to Valdina, suppressing waves of demons.

Didn't she even pour her holy power into the wave's epicenter without caring that her own body was being contaminated?

Rachel's courageous attitude of not retreating even an inch from the den of demons that even strong men would run away from in fear, and her devotion of generously giving away her precious holy power and holy water, broke down Menil's strong defenses.

“Lord Menil.”

Then Rachel looked around and made sure there was no one around, then she said.

"Please open the door so that I can see His Majesty."

As Rachel pleaded, she spoke to Menil, who was guarding the entrance to the office.

At that moment, a goat horn-shaped mark appeared in Menil's eyes. It disappeared in an instant, so no one noticed.

Menil nodded with dazed eyes.

"Yes, Miss. Please go in. His Majesty will be inside."

Crunch.

Rachel smiled and stepped through the open door.

***

The Central Palace, the King's office.

Peleus quickly adapted to life in the palace, making his days on the plains seem pale in comparison.

He rarely left his office because he was busy dealing with the piling up of state affairs all day long.

"Peleus."

Even when Medea arrived at the central palace, Peleus was covered in piles of papers.

"Hey, you're here."

"How is your body?"

Her brother's handsome face was still the same, except it was a little pale.

"It's okay."

"Dear, if you weren't feeling well, you wouldn't be sitting here. It really wasn't serious enough for you to worry about."

He caressed his sister with affectionate care.

"This brother will always be by your side. Sometimes you feel anxious as if I am not in this world."

Medea smiled bitterly. Peleus was sometimes sharp in unexpected ways.

That was when.

"Oh, Her Highness the Princess is here too."

Medea paused as she noticed a strand of blonde hair flowing behind the entrance pillar of the office.

"Why are you here?"

Medea's green eyes turned to Menil, who had entered the office with Rachel. Menil unconsciously cringed at the unprecedented pressure on her pale face.

He realized too late that it was not Rachel but himself who the Princess had questioned.

"Ah, that's because Miss Rachel came to cleanse His Majesty's remaining magic."

"Forgive me, Your Highness. I insisted because I thought Your Majesty still had some magic energy left in his body and was in constant pain."

Rachel, who had not expected Medea's presence, was a little taken aback but soon smiled faintly.

The white hand held out a wooden box, seemingly oblivious to the Princess's coldness.

Inside were small vials with a blue glow.

"This is the holy water I made. Please, Your Highness, accept my gift and forgive my rudeness."

"..."

"It may be a weak power, but I am confident in its purity. If the goddess's blessing is added to Your Highness's beautiful body, it will certainly be of some help."

"..."

Rachel was still holding the box because Medea had not accepted the Saintess's gift.

She stared at Rachel with an indifferent face. The atmosphere became awkward in an instant.

"Have I done something rude to Your Highness again? If so, please blame my foolishness and be generous in forgiving me."

The Saintess forced a smile on her face, her face reddened with embarrassment. Menil, who felt pity for the Saintess who had been rejected in front of people, stepped forward.

"Your Highness, I guarantee you the power of Miss Rachel. It is several times more effective than the holy water of the temple, so trust us and receive it-"

"So, you just let it pass without any notice or confirmation? Since when has Agema, the Emperor's guardian, been this lax?"

Menil flinched at Medea's cold remark because he instinctively realized that what she said was not wrong.

Why did I bring Rachel in? I couldn't quite remember the reason. I guess I just felt like I had to.

Menil looked defeated.

No matter how much the Saintess saved them, Agema is the King's sharpest sword.

Among the many enemies who had targeted Peleus, were there none who had a face as friendly as the Saintess?

'I let my guard down. I shouldn't have let my guard down under any circumstances.'

"I apologize, Your Highness. It was my fault."

He realized his mistake and prostrated himself.

"If you give me the punishment I deserve, I will gladly accept it."

"Menil has been relieved of his duties, and from now on, the guard of the central palace will be assigned to D'Angel."

Peleus stood up and spoke in a cool voice. He then turned to Rachel.

"Rachel, even though you have not yet been baptized, you clearly belong to the Holy Nation. So make sure that this never happens again."

There was no room for error in the frosty voice. Rachel was taken aback, but Peleus paid no attention and continued speaking.

"I won't forget your help. The support I promised will be valid, so you may go now."

"Your Majesty, at least purification. Please let me at least see the wounds. As a messenger carrying out the will of the goddess, Your Majesty-"

"Bring the saint."

But the young King's voice was indifferent.

"But-

"D'Angel, take her outside."

Rachel, growing impatient, reached out her hand, but Peleus was the first to give D'Angele a stern look.

D'Angel nodded and caught her.

"Your Majesty!"

Then, a short scream erupted.
