TCIWTFY - Part 2 Episode 3

Medea turned around.

"When?"

"Just a little while ago. I just came back after seeing the flag being raised at the gate. However, I heard that the palace doctors and priests were dispatched to wait outside the gate."

Medea paused. It was unusual for a court doctor and a priest to be called out at the same time.

'Hey, what happened on the plains?

An ominous thought crossed Medea's mind.

"Peleus. You don't necessarily have to send it yourself. It would be enough to just send the Agemas."

"We must definitely destroy the source of the wave. It won't be dangerous. Don't worry, Dea. I'll finish it quickly and come back to you."

I didn't feel like giving in to the reassuring words and gentle patting on my shoulder.

Medea still vividly remembers her brother being torn to pieces by the monster's claws.

The howling cries of the monsters trampling the grass were still clearly lingering in her ears.

The words, 'Can't you go?' rose to the tip of her tongue,  but she couldn't hold him back.

"Dea, I'll be back."

Medea's gaze was fixed on the wooden doll standing on the table.

Even though everything has changed, she can't be sure of the big picture, so why did she remain complacent?

Medea's heartbeat raced. The terror of that day as if her body remembered it, came back to her.

The nightmare of her past life was still alive and breathing in her mind.

Whenever the opportunity arose, she would come up with memories and scatter the black fog.

Medea rose.

"Kensington, I'll have to hear the rest later."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Kensington read a trace of anxiety across the Princess's calm face as she departed.

***

The official residence of the 2nd district of the Valdina Royal Palace.

The spacious courtyard of the official residence, where only officials came and went, was more noisy than ever.

The reason is that the King's guards who returned from the plains were seriously injured and could not go to the palace, so they had to receive urgent treatment there.

The doctors who had been waiting in line quickly approached the Agemas who had dismounted from their horses.

"Ahhhh..."

"Please stay still. I need to bandage you."

Soft groans came out here and there.

Medea looked around.

The silver hair she was looking for was nowhere to be seen among the armor stained with crimson blood.

Medea's steps became a little quicker.

Badump badump.

She thought she could hear her heart beating loudly.

It was as if it was a sign of misfortune that something was about to happen.

"Captain!"

At that time, Neril discovered D'Angel first.

"The wounded soldiers should be moved to the infirmary first... Neril? Your Highness the Princess? What brought you here-"

D'Angel raised his eyebrows as he discovered Medea following Neril.

He too was dressed in a dirty manner, covered in dust and blood.

Medea saw the hem of the bandage tied around the side of the armor.

"Sir, are you hurt?"

"Oh, this is nothing."

D'Angel turned around in a hurry, but his wound was already visible.

"What on earth happened? The captain was injured, and what's the condition of the Agemas like?"

D'Angel sighed and waved his hand in response to Neril's question.

"Don't be ridiculous. I almost got in big trouble. Suddenly the wave burst again..."

D'Angel reported the tense situation so far.

Peleus and Agemas successfully suppressed the ghoul wave that erupted from the plains.

After dealing with the ghouls and making sure the source of the wave was eliminated, a new wave erupted on the way back.

"They were high-level demons. Obviously, the previous waves were low-level, and at best, the bosses were mid-level."

The sudden appearance of Lich and the Ghoul Army.

As expected of the Iron-Blooded Knights. Agemas did not panic and counterattacked, but the problem was that they were too numerous.

"No matter how many times I cut them, they only rushed towards His Majesty. And the leader was Demilich, so you can't imagine how difficult he was."

Demilich was a demigod-level demonic being that had lost its body after reaching enlightenment, leaving only its head to act.

D'Angel's side was also cut while blocking Demilich's attack on Peleus.

"So, what about Peleus?"

Medea asked urgently. D'Angel realized that he had worried the Princess by describing the urgent situation so vividly, and spoke hurriedly.

"His Majesty was bitten by that evil sorcerer, but fortunately he is safe now. The purification was also successful."

Then, a familiar voice rang out.

"D'Angel, refrain from talking nonsense."

Peleus appeared behind D'Angel, taking off his armor.

His armor was also shabby as if to indicate the urgency of the time.

But his dirty attire gave Peleus the air of a holy martyr who had come from the abyss.

"Inherited? So toxic that it needed to be purified?"

Medea quickly grabbed Peleus' arm and noticed the gray bite mark on his left hand.

Traces of the evil energy emitted by the corpse, which was once close to black.

"It's okay, Dea. It's nothing. I'm perfectly fine. I wasn't sick. I just let my guard down a little..."

Peleus, seeing his sister's pale complexion, continued to speak without answering.

"I'm fine. I was on the verge of death after being bitten. It wasn't because we let our guard down that we were surrounded by a mountain of ghouls and Demilich."

D'Angel snorted. Then he averted his eyes, stung by Peleus' sharp gaze that was glaring at him.

"No, Your Majesty. Shouldn't Your Majesty know that too? If it weren't for her, Your Majesty would have been in real danger."

"Her?"

Medea paused.

"When I fell, there was someone who defeated the ghoul and purified the poison."

As if Peleus' brief explanation was not enough, D'Angel added:

"A woman from a nearby village where the Ghoul Wave erupted just happened to have her holy powers awakened."

He added a rich explanation with gestures.

"I really wish I could have shown it to Your Highness. Only then did I understand why the Holy Nation had been waiting for the Saintess? It was truly a great power."

The sight of a half-god-level demilich being reduced to a handful of ash surprised even the stone-like D'Angel.

"A pure white light covered the plains and was so powerful that it turned the numerous ghouls into ash."

"..."

How many people on the continent have witnessed the appearance of the Saint with their own eyes?

The unexpectedly excited voice of D'Angel flowed into one of Medea's ears and out the other.

She discovered it a step too late. The golden truck was slowly coming closer behind her brother's back.

One step.

One more step.

"Oh, there you are."

The hem of the pure white skirt billowed gently.

The woman approached. Her luscious blonde hair, shining in the sunlight and stinging her eyes, was revealed first.

Next, Medea noticed gentle purple eyes, and finally, cherry lips smiling softly.

"Your Highness, this is the woman. She is the one who saved His Majesty and us Agemas from the hordes of ghouls."

Before D'Angel could introduce the woman, Medea's lips moved silently.

Rachel.

"This is Miss Rachel."

Why are you here?

The words that were almost like a groan spread deep into her lungs.
