IDMH - Chapter 54

The official who happened to see Adele and Perdes hugging made a joke and spread the story around.

“It seemed to me that the two of them had just kissed.”

"Really?"

"Then! Otherwise, such a strange and sweet atmosphere would not be possible. I'm sure!"

The official spread the word by adding his own delusions.

When other people's delusions were added on top of that, the story became so strange that it was unspeakable.

Every time some employees saw Adele and Perdes together, their earlobes turned red and they hurried away.

“If their relationship is this good, doesn’t that mean a baby will be born before they get officially married?”

When the topic of babies came up, people of all ages and genders started talking excitedly.

“Then, Perdes can take over the dukedom for a while until the baby grows up to a certain level, and then hand it over to the baby when the time comes.”

“I see. Then there won’t be a big problem even if Perdes falls short.”

"That's right. In the meantime, she can take care of the duchy and the estate, and Sir Aldor can take care of the knights.”

“It’s just right. It’s a great way to take care of the Lady's happiness and the future of the dukedom!”

While everyone was happy and imagining happiness, there were some who couldn't smile.

“...”

One of them was Aldor.

Aldor was a skilled knight with a reputation for having sharp and sharp swordsmanship.

Hwiik-

“...Do you think you’re sharper today?”

“Just be sharp? I feel alive.”

The knights whispered as they watched Aldor fiercely swinging his sword.

“Vice-captain, is something wrong?”

“Have you ever been scammed?”

“Oh, no way. If you had been deceived by the vice-captain’s personality, he would have gone looking for the culprit instead of swinging his sword at the training ground.”

“That’s right.”

Then what on earth happened to make him live like that?

The knights were scared of Aldor but also curious as to why he was acting like that, so they could hardly take their eyes off him.

“Hey, youngest.”

In the end, to satisfy their growing curiosity, they sacrificed the youngest child, who had joined the Order for only a year.

The youngest knight, who suddenly became a victim, trembled and approached Aldor.

“Sir... Hike!”

Before the youngest knight could even call him, Aldor's sword stopped right in front of his face.

The youngest knight, whose legs became weak in shock, fell to the floor with a single scream.

“...Ah."

Aldor, who was concentrating on swinging his sword and only recognized the figure coming behind him as an enemy, aimed his sword. He later recognized that it was the youngest knight and lowered the tip of his sharp sword.

“Are you okay?”

And he extended his hand towards the youngest knight. The youngest knight, who had not yet recovered from the shock, did not even think about holding his hand and just looked at Aldor with a pale face.

“Matthew.”

"Yes!"

When Aldor called his name, Matthew, the youngest knight who came to his senses, jumped up and shouted so loudly that he left the training ground.

"Yes! It's okay! This is nothing!”

“Then I’m glad.”

Aldor asked, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand.

“What’s going on?”

“Well, the seniors were worried that something was going on with the vice-captain, so they asked me to go...”

“Ugh.”

“We’re in big trouble.”

When Matthew asked him outright, all the senior knights who had used him as a scapegoat were the flagships.

“...”

Then, when Aldor looked in this direction, he turned his head and avoided eye contact without saying who should go first.

Aldor looked at the knights blankly, then sighed and spoke to Matthew.

“Nothing happened, don’t worry.”

“Really?”

"Yes. More than that.”

Aldor sheathed his sword and spoke in a passing tone.

“Everyone seems bored, so let’s take 20 laps around the training ground.”

As the season entered early summer, the days became much hotter.

Because it was in the north, it wasn't as hot as other places, but it was still hot during the day when the sun was shining.

Especially now, at 2 PM, with the sun rising in the sky.

Going around the training ground at this time meant not just for training purposes, but to harass them.

"Practice."

Even though they knew that the other person was the vice-captain.

And because the knights knew that they had dug a grave, they had to walk around the training ground as many as 20 times without saying anything.

***

The first thing I did when I woke up in the morning was check the newspaper.

Because if you read the newspaper, you can find out what happened the night before.

[A rosy romance like a novel that is not restricted by social status.]

The provocative headline printed on the front page of the newspaper was the first thing that caught my attention.

The article did not say exactly who they were but described them as Ms. A and Mr. B.

However, anyone with a bit of insight could immediately tell that I was Miss A and that Person B was Perdes.

In other words, this was an article published by a reporter who heard the official's mixed story.

“These days, things like this are on the front page of newspapers.”

Because it's so provocative, I think people will be curious and buy a lot of it.

For an article like this to appear on the front page of a newspaper, meant that there were no more articles to publish.

In the same sense, it meant that there were no major incidents or accidents, so it wasn't bad.

I put down the morning paper and headed to the secret training site where Perdes was waiting.

Today again, as usual, Perdes came out earlier than me and was doing basic physical training.

I taught him the swordsmanship stance and did my training, checking to see if his posture was disturbed from time to time.

“Your posture is wrong.”

If I saw something disorganized, I immediately approached and corrected it.

As I was touching his arms, shoulders, and waist to correct his posture, I noticed that Perdes' body was stiffer than usual.

“...!”

I felt like his muscles were tight, so I massaged them with the intention of loosening them, but Perdes got angry and ran away.

“W-what are you doing?”

“What are you doing?”

I understand that he was surprised, but I was a little hurt because he was so disgusted.

“I felt like your muscles were tight, so I tried to loosen them.”

“Tell me about that first. If you suddenly massage it, it will startle me.”

Oh, I see.

"Sorry. Then I will release you, so come here.”

Even though I had told him in advance, Perdes shook his head with a sullen expression, as if he was dissatisfied with something.

"It's okay. I can ask Jack to do it for me later.”

“I’ll do better than Jack.”

“How do you know that?”

“Well, my massage skills were recognized by others.”

“To whom?”

The space between Perdes's eyebrows narrowed.

“Did you do it to that man?”

The man Ferdes was talking about was none other than Sir Aldor.

"No."

Now that I remember, in my second life, I tried to give a massage to Sir Aldor, who suffered because of me.

“W-what are you doing, Lady!”

Even then, Lord Aldor ran away in disgust like Perdes.

I guess it's because everyone doesn't trust my massage skills, right?

This is just a wound.

“Then who did you get recognition from?”

“My father.”

The wrinkled eyebrows that had been crumpled like a shirt stuck in a corner of the closet straightened out.

Perdes cleared his throat and spoke in a slightly embarrassed tone.

“Hmm, I guess you gave Duke Leopold a massage often.”

"Yes. Since his muscles tend to get tight often, I gave him a lot of massages. So you can trust my skills.”

“I didn’t doubt the Young Lady’s skills from the beginning.”

“So are you going to get a massage?”

"No."

It's true that he has doubts.

I thought it was funny that he was lying so shamelessly, so I stared at him, but Perdes avoided my gaze.

“Well, I guess that’s all for today. I need to ask Jack to relieve my tight muscles.”

“There are bath salts that help relieve muscle tension, so I’ll send them to you through the servant.”

“Then it’s good for me.”

“And don’t forget that there is something you have to do today.”

Today was the day before Perdes took his medicine, and it was also the day he showed off in front of others.

“You have to do well.”

This was a garden where no one could enter without my permission, but I spoke in a voice low enough for him to hear just in case.

Perdes nodded at my words with a slightly more serious expression.

“Don’t worry, I’ll do well. I’ll do it around evening, so get ready.”

"Yes. I will prepare accordingly.”

“I hope you find it.”

"I know, right."

Since there was really not much time left, I was also desperately hoping to find it this time.

***

Perhaps because summer was fast approaching, it was as bright as daylight outside even though it was 5 p.m.

Before putting his plan into action, Perdes put on an idiot mask and walked around the hallways.

An ordinary person might have found it strange, but no one thought it was strange for a man known as an idiot to do this.

“I guess you’re in a good mood, Mr. Perdes.”

“Would you like some snacks? Oh, I guess it won’t work because it’s before dinner.”

Rather, the workers Perdes met spoke kindly to him.

'Are there really any criminals among these people?'

Then he thought it would be very sad.

...Adele, not me.

Perdes had never been betrayed by someone he trusted, but he knew how sad it was.

Perdes suddenly remembered that Adele was very heartbroken and bit his lip.

This wouldn't have happened if she hadn't become engaged to him.

He felt guilty.

The funny thing was that he felt this way even though she had suggested getting engaged first.

“It’s really strange.”

Perdes, who was leaning against the wall with his head down and muttering to himself, soon shook his head violently and stood up.

In times like this, the culprit had to be found as quickly as possible.

Don't let Adele give that guy her heart.

'Okay, then...'

As the evening deepened and people gathered one after another to clean up the hall, Perdes went down the central stairs.
