TFDBF - Chapter 11

"Just paying off that debt is too much. It's hard to return a favor from someone else."

Eric, who was quietly looking at me with mysterious eyes, answered quietly.

"Well, that's a shame."

I felt a strange coolness in the words and raised my head to see Eric smiling at me with his usual gentle eyes.

"I wish our meeting had been sooner."

With those words, he slowly let go of the hand that he was holding.

Before I knew it, the song was over.

***

As soon as he returned from dancing, Eric was grabbed by another nobleman.

This time, he was one of the men Interested in 'business'.

With sparkling eyes, he seemed resigned to the hand pulling him away and he asked for my understanding.

"Do you mind if I come and talk for a moment?"

"Sure."

I glanced around, but there was no one trying to approach me.

I guess the things I said right before dancing were quite shocking to them.

Well, there is nothing we can do.

After leaning against the wall for a moment, I took a step back when I saw a table with colorful cocktails on it.

Bright color and sweet smell.

It was the moment I picked up a glass with a splash of blue liquid reminiscent of a clear sky.

"If you don't know much about alcohol, it's better not to touch the glass carelessly."

As I turned my head, I saw a woman with beautifully curly light brown hair approaching.

When she saw the glass in my hand, she smiled.

"All the alcohol prepared for the night dance is high in alcohol. If you are drawn to the sweet smell and drink it carelessly, you will quickly get drunk."

She was a woman with a strange aura.

Is it because of the long dress that highlights her slightly exposed shoulders and body, unlike other women?

The mole around her mouth added to her bewitchment as if putting an end to her mood.

"This is a low-alcohol glass."

"Thank you."

It was the moment I stretched out my hand to take the glass offered to me.

Clang-

The glass fell to the floor and shattered.

The red lips of the person facing me rose upward.

"Oh my goodness."

"..."

Several ladies who had their eyes focused on me were about to burst out laughing, but hastily covered their mouths.

I raised my head to see the red wine in the glass spreading onto my light-colored dress.

"Sorry. My hand slipped."

Since I was not slow to notice, I was able to figure out whether the other person had intention or not. The woman in front of me clearly acted with great intention.

"What should I do about this?"

Giggling.

I lowered my eyes while listening to the muffled laughter coming from nearby.

Eric was conducting a passionate 'business talk' surrounded by older men in the distance.

"It's okay. Just change my dress and come back."

When I glanced back and asked a passing servant for guidance, the woman who had handed me the glass had disappeared among the people.

'Who was it?'

Remembering the incomprehensible behavior, I followed the servant's guidance left the hall, and headed into the hallway..

"I will prepare a dress for you to change into. Please wait a moment in this room."

It was only after he left the room with polite words and his presence completely disappeared that I was able to relax.

"Ha."

As I leaned my stretched body against the wall, I felt the heat of the wall on my back.

Uncomfortable glass shoes that tighten my toes, dresses that rustle and tickle my skin, and hairpins that tighten my hair.

Nothing was comfortable.

I touched the area around my neck that was a bit tight and stretched out my hand to the table next to me.

As I held the cup half-filled with water, I was startled without realizing it.

"It's cold."

I raised my head.

The air in the room was muggy.

As if someone had kept it warm for those who visit this place.

'Maybe it's a pointless thought.'

But I couldn't help but like it.

In such a hot room, the water in the water glass that had already been provided was cold.

'As if I expect anyone who enters this room to touch the glass.'

Now that I think about it, the attitude of the woman who poured wine on my dress was also strange.

If she wanted to embarrass me, it would have been better to be sarcastic on the spot or prevent me from leaving the crowd.

When she confirmed that my dress was dirty, she smiled in satisfaction and left the hall.

'As if she had completed her role.'

I slowly poured the contents of the glass I was holding down.

There was no smell from the clear liquid flowing down to the floor.

"Windy."

As soon as I called, a blue eagle appeared before my eyes.

"Follow the attendant who guided me earlier. Check out who he is in contact with."

The spirit created a light wind and quickly chased the attendant across the hallway.

After staring at the scene, I stood up.

'There is no need to take unnecessary risks.'

Fortunately, there was no one guarding the hallway.

I crept out barefoot and hid behind a large pillar.

If someone had intended for me to drink the water on the table, the other person would definitely have shown up.

[Master.]

The voice of Windy, who had followed the attendant, rang in my head.

[He met the man who was with the owner.]

"The man I was with? Who are you talking about?"

The moment I asked this question, someone's face flashed through my mind.

[The one who brought the owner here.]

"Eric?"

[He said to the servant. Go and make sure she's unconscious. Then he said he would proceed with the plan.]

The blood in my head went very cold.

It wasn't that there was anything suspicious.

That's why I told Hugh to find out about Eric and his boss just in case anything happened.

Nevertheless, my mind was numb from the unexpected blow to the back of my head.

I will only accept favors and close my heart.

My Intention was to shake things up overnight at most, so why did I say such a bold thing?

I laughed out loud.

Only then did I realize that I identified him with myself? Thinking about the ridicule and contempt of the nobles and the walls that cannot be overcome based on the status that was assigned to you at birth.

It was absurd to assume that he was a 'good person'.

Windy called out to me as I looked down at my feet without moving for a while.

[Master.]

"Huh."

[I will share my eyes for a moment. Is that okay?]

It seemed like the spirit was trying to show me what it was hearing and seeing.

[It may be difficult for a long time, but it will be possible in a little while.]

"Good. Do it like that."

As I gritted my teeth and allowed it, the sight before my eyes seemed to turn white and gradually became clearer.

I saw Eric standing right in front of me.

He was talking to armed men full of vicious murder.

The gentle face that always smiled was everywhere.

One of the men wearing swords opened his mouth.

"Don't worry. Nothing will go wrong with your plan. The other person is nothing more than a well-bred noblewoman. Even if we just pretend to take appropriate action, she will get scared...."

"No."

A cold voice cut off the man's words.

As the sharp gray eyes turned towards him, the man who had spoken flinched.

"Simply scaring people is not enough. She didn't give me as much room as I thought."

The men in front of him exchanged looks as if they were a little embarrassed by his words.

Eric spoke with a cold face that did not show a single emotion.

"If you're going to get it, it's better to hold it perfectly, even if it means breaking it, than to lose half of it clumsily. Push yourself until it becomes difficult to stay sane. If my life is at stake, I won't worry about defects appearing in places I can't see."

Thr vivid image seemed to have reached its limit as the power to share thr vision gradually became blurred.

I blinked a few times and saw the familiar hallway again.

I muttered quietly as I looked into the quiet hallway with no one in sight.

"Eric Berker, you punk."

I put strength into my trembling hands.

***

I looked at the quiet, deserted hallway and walked slowly.

[The exit was completely blocked. The servant is coming back.]

At the words of Windy, who quickly circled the building, my feet, which had nowhere to go, stopped in place.

"Take me to a place where there are no people."

[It must be far away from the exit of the building, right?]

"Hide is the priority."

Windy, who returned after looking around at my soft words, began to take the lead.

As we went deeper and deeper, spaces became more and more tangled like a maze.

[They noticed that the owner had disappeared. Everyone started searching inside the building.]

"Because they probably won't think I got out of the building."

With the exit blocked, they probably thought there was no way the woman could get out alone.

[They are divided into several groups and search each passage.]

Moreover, the hall was full of nobles still enjoying the ball.

The other person probably doesn't want to draw their attention by searching too loudly.
