IDEFYEM - Chapter 85
Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!
I had no idea that the temperature would change so much just because I left the capital.
Raphael saw my shoulders shaking and took off his coat to cover me.
"It's okay...."
"I'm used to the cold and it's fine. I'm more worried about the roo lm."
The Inn owner who was waiting for us welcomed us warmly. Raphael approached the owner and spoke to him, handing him a few silver coins.
Soon after, he returned with a relieved look on his face and guided me to a room on the second floor.
"What did you say?"
"There will be a fireplace in the room, so I asked for more firewood."
The feeling of being cared for didn't feel too bad.
Raphael said he didn't get cold, and it seemed like he did. The request he just made was probably only for me.
"Thank you. Achwi!!"
The chilly night air already made me sneeze.
Raphael, who was looking at me with worried eyes, checked to see if the window was properly closed as soon as he entered the room.
After carefully checking to see if there were any air leaks, I put out the fire.
I wrapped myself in a blanket and sat down in a rocking chair in front of the fireplace. I heard a knock.
Soon Raphael brought the tray placed in front of the door. There were two bowls of steaming hot stew and a teapot.
It was my first proper meal since I had a quick meal of dried fruit in the carriage earlier.
"Eat well and sleep a little more. It was a lot of work on the way."
At his words, I picked up a wooden spoon and took a big bite of the thick stew.
The flavor was good with a strong mushroom aroma, and the large pieces of chicken leg meat were chewy.
The fluffy, well-cooked potatoes were soaked in rich cream, which was satisfying.
"Does it fit your mouth?"
"It's surprisingly delicious."
When served with the white bread on the plate, it became a filling meal.
After eating my fill of warm food, I felt my cold body relax.
"I'll sleep on my own, so go to bed and rest."
"But..."
Yesterday, for the first time in a while, I felt anxious that things would go according to the original stoгу.
Because I had a strong sense of betrayal, I dared to make the Grand Duke sleep on the floor. But even today, I was afraid of the end and felt uncomfortable to do that.
"Just together...."
"Did you just tell me, Enri?"
"It's nothing!"
I vehemently denied it and stood up.
"I really enjoyed the meal."
After putting away the dishes, I quickly ran to the bed.
Now, for some reason. I couldn't even bring myself to speak up first. Because I slept so much, I don't think I'll be able to sleep all night again like this.
"..."
My premonition was right, and I tossed and turned for a long time even after I turned off the light.
Raphael seemed to sleep in front of the stove, often turning over firewood.
Because of his great height and stocky physique, leaning on a chair seemed very uncomfortable.
And above all, it was cold.
'When Raphael asked me to bring more blankets, I thought it was excessive.'
Since I only stayed in the capital, I had forgotten that the weather there was warm.
Even though I wrapped myself in several layers of thick blankets, I still felt cold.
I finally hesitated and opened my mouth.
"Raphael, are you sleeping?"
"No. Do you need anything?"
I wonder if he had planned on not falling asleep from the beginning.
As soon as I spoke the words, a response came back.
"You can not sleep? Isn't the seat too uncomfortable?"
"I feel more uncomfortable than the seat."
I chuckled at the bone-headed joke.
"What's so uncomfortable?"
"Just everything."
"I can't sleep because I'm so cold."
Raphael got up and headed to the door at the mumbled complaint.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm thinking about bringing a blanket."
"If the number increases further, I think I will be crushed to death before I freeze to death."
It wasn't an exaggeration. The thickness of the blankets piled on top of me was already considerable.
Raphael stopped in place, not understanding what I meant.
This was unusual for him, who is usually quick-witted and never shows a dull appearance.
"Would you like to lie down next to me?"
Finally, I ran out of patience and threw a fastball. It wasn't a word that had much meaning because I was slowly needing someone's body temperature.
Unlike me, the man acted as if he was facing a very difficult problem.
"Is it temptation?"
"No! It's really cold."
"What if this sounds like temptation?"
"You have to control your mind. It's okay, just go away."
Do you feel that way even in this situation?
I was fed up and pushed him away.
"Umm..."
A low voice rang out, not sure if it was a sigh, a sigh, or a sigh. Raphael immediately took off the coat from his shoulders and climbed onto the bed.
At that moment, I realized that there had been a mistake in my judgment.
"That's right, this guy didn't have a heart.'
Instead of being warm, it seemed a little colder as he was making room for him to come in.
I feel a little sorry for him because I wonder how cold he would have been if he were alone.
Ugh.
I mumbled to myself and turned over once again.
"But it's not that bad. It feels like I'm hugging a hard pillow.'
If I continue like this, I will fall asleep someday.
Crack, crack...
The sound of firewood burning in the fireplace was peaceful.
***
After a nap, I woke up and had a light breakfast.
After a short rest, we started the carriage again and left for the villa.
We used a portal once along the way and gradually got used to motion sickness, so the road to my destination was easier than yesterday.
"It's foggy today."
When we almost arrived at the villa and former Grand dlDucal residence, Raphael looked out the window
Even though it was evening, the sun had set, and there was fog so the view was dark.
I thought it was a wise choice to change the villa in the capital to the Grand Duke's residence.
It must have been quite an ordeal to ride a carriage for two days or so every time I attended a banquet.
However, as I went inside and saw the fog slowly clearing, I wondered if I should cancel my thoughts.
Because it was such a breathtakingly beautiful sight.
"Ah...."
I let out an exclamation without realizing it.
A huge mansion was built at the end of a lake large enough to be mistaken for a river.
The Grand Duke's residence in the capital was sophisticated, but the buildings in the north, which had maintained a long tradition, had a more old-fashioned charm.
The size and splendor of the mansion were such that it could be called a palace.
However, perhaps because it was truly a barren and cold land, the nearby trees were withered without producing leaves.
Raphael escorted me out of the carriage as I was distracted by the scenery.
"Do you like it?"
"It definitely seems to have a different weight than the buildings in the capital."
"Shall I transfer ownership to you?"
What on earth did I just hear?
I turned my head and looked at Raphael as if asking if he was out of his mind.
"Now that we are married, it will be easier to give and receive money."
"This... Are you going to give this to me?"
He seemed more sincere than I thought. It's a shame because I'm a conscientious citizen, otherwise, that person would have become a piece of shit in no time.
"You have to say something that makes sense..."
It wasn't worth dealing with, so I shook my head and went inside.
The ceiling was so high that I had to raise my head all the way to look up and the gorgeous chandelier caught my eye.
The blue curtains and the even darker blue wallpaper harmonized with each other.
Raphael's face, which has a classic feel from some angles, also fits well here.
"It's beautiful. Can the maintenance costs be covered by the Grand Duchy's business alone?"
"Not only does it cover maintenance costs, but it also amounts to feeding the residents of the territory. Thanks to this, I gained support even for the ridiculous task of moving the Grand Duke's residence to the capital."
When he told that story, Raphael seemed unusually proud.
The man seemed happier when taking responsibility for someone else than when taking care of himself. This somehow bothered me a little, so I changed the topic of conversation to something else.
"Where were you born? I want to go there."
It was then, that Melua, who had followed us, approached Raphael and said.
"Your Highness. I'm sorry but for a moment..."
"What's going on?"
"The butler here said he had something to tell you, so he has been waiting for you."
"Then tell them to wait a little longer."
When Raphael answered harshly, Melua's expression changed to one of trouble.
I felt like he was in an awkward situation because of me, so I waved my hand and said.
"Now that I think about it, I'm tired after riding the carriage for a long time. I have plenty of time, so I'll stop looking at the mansion tomorrow."
"If it's because of what you just heard, you don't have to worry about it."
"No. I'm really not feeling well. I'd like to see the room I'll be using."
Before Raphael could open his mouth, Melua responded by hitting the bow.
"I will show you to the room. Your Highness, please go to the butler."
Raphael, who was looking at Melua with suspicious eyes, immediately nodded.
"Then get some rest, Enri."
Step, step.
As his footsteps gradually grew further away, Melua breathed his sigh of relief.
"Phew, I barely got over it."
"What does that mean?"
"It is forbidden to even mention the place where His Highness was born."
Melua said, wiping away his sweat in this cold weather as if he had just climbed a large mountain.
